Opinions de Xiao Long Bao Restaurant Alameda
It is rarely to enjoy 5 stars service (fast, nice, accurate and clear explanation) and food (fast, no msg, enough meat but thin dim sum wrappers) in Bay Area no matter in Chinese or non Chinese restaurants. While waiting for the food, my brother and I were absolutely sure the food must be imported from other factories or stores because the pictures on the menu looked exactly same like other most of restaurants. Then, when we saw the real food. Both of us said we guessed right and laughed. However, after we tried the dim sums, we were pretty sure the food were truly made in this small restaurant!!! hahaha!
Actually surprised about how good the food would be. I would have never known if I went with the reviews. But the pan fried was coated lightly and perfectly fried, everything tasted so good and the congee had fine slices of ginger. The tripe was fresh and delicious in flavor. And the beef rice rolls had a really thin layer… everything was delicious and perfectly portioned!
A newcomer to the East Bay Dim Sum scene, dim sum best of taste boasts a real chef from Guangdong, who can be seen creating the delicacies served here. While I was a little taken aback by the fact that they didn't have any Pepsi or Coca-Cola, (my go-to drink for dim sum) they made up for it with a delicious and not overly sweetened passion fruit tea. As for the dim sum itself, I can only say that it is exceedingly fresh and delicious, we had the pan-fried chive dumplings, the Haw Gao, (shrimp), Shu Mai, (pork), and the ubiquitous fried sesame balls filled with sweet Bean paste. All of it was absolutely delicious and fresh, with the bean balls being A cut above Any that I've had in the area. They're brand new so I can give them a break for a couple of things that maybe they can improve on. The first is that the metal table outside in front of the restaurant is falling apart and balances on its center, and should be removed and replaced with a better table. The second is that there is no shades, and for a good part of the day sunlight will hit you right in the eyes. Finally, please carry Coca-Cola and pepsi? I will be back and I will need it I recommend this place to everyone who loves real Cantonese style dim sum fresh and delicious.
Small place tucked in amongst all the other restaurants on the street but tasty fresh and amazing food.
great dim sum and boba drinks. We almost ordered everything on the menu! It was all delicious
It's a small place the the food was amazing! It came out hot fresh and fast!

Delicious all around!! Especially the soup dumplings. Friendly service and good value.
The very best surprise - everything was delicious. We were looking for a new dumpling place after a climbing session hungry to eat and this place did not disappoint. Great dumplings that come fast and hot. The boba and iced coffee were great too
Dim sum was really tasty and fresh, came out piping hot but really soon after we ordered. Siu mai was large and juicy with good flavor. BBQ pork buns had a good meat to bun ratio. Sticky rice was tasty and had good filings. We will return!
I love this new spot! It's like one of those super-focused small joints you see in Asia. The menu is small, but it's clear they focus on only a few things and do them well. The dumplings are yummy and fresh-tasting. And the food was served super quickly.
This is such a cute place! I went in with my family on their opening day and I immediately loved the cozy and soft vibes the restaurant gives. The food is delicious, not too salty and has great taste! I tried their mango green tea with lychee jelly and it's sooo good. The staff was friendly and very respectful and I recommend anyone who's stopping by Alameda, who's craving dim sum, to try! I heard they're hand made as well!
Cute restaurant/takeout place in Alameda. Dim Sum dumpling sizes were larger than normal. The Siu mai were huge! We put in the order and literally got served our first dish right as we sat down. Impressed with the service, taste of dishes, speed, and cleanliness. Would return.
This place is absolutely incredible. It’s hands down the best Chinese food I’ve had outside of China, and it genuinely rivals some of the best meals I’ve had in China as well. I spent over a year there, and my wife is a native, so that’s not said lightly. Once word gets out, this spot is going to be slammed, so enjoy being able to order without a long wait while you still can. I’m so glad my wife and I found this place. The team should be incredibly proud of the quality of food they put out, and I truly hope it never changes.
Very good food. Came out fresh, hot and delicious. Portuguese egg tart, chicken potstickers, steamed pork bun and sesame balls were all amazing. Will be my go-to dim sum spot going forward.
We had dinner at this quaint Dim Sum restaurant last night. Proprietors are a young Chinese couple, their dim sum dishes rivals some of the fancier larger Chinese restaurants. And at a much more reasonable price. We highly recommend Dim Sum Best of Taste to anyone interested in a good hearty dim sum (small plates) meal. And we would definitely come again next time we're in Alameda.
As someone who just moved to the neighborhood and is currently 9 months pregnant, I was craving some good Dim Sum. Decided to take a chance on Uber/Postmates delivery. I was blown away and pleasantly surprised. Food can warm and toasty and the food is AMAZING! Will definitely come back in person to try more options. This is the best Dim Sum thus far and will be my newest pregnancy craving moving forward. The dumplings are SO GOOD! Presentation, Quality, flavor etc. with soy sauce and chili oil - Chefs kiss 💋 I would have provided a picture for my review but I inhaled it before I could start this review 😅
Pleasantly surprised by how good everything is here! The staff is super nice and helpful about my son’s food allergies, and I heard them helping another customer out with their food allergies as well. The atmosphere is definitely more “boba shop” than “dim sum restaurant,” which was kind of nice because it made it much quicker. I wish they had tea service though. We loved the egg custard bao. The custard has a slight coconut taste to it, and was very creamy and not too sweet. Hard to describe, but a lot of other custard fillings use too much corn starch and is much denser, whereas this is much more delicate in texture. The egg tarts were also surprisingly good. The crust was super flakey and had structure. I also loved their steamed sparerib & rice noodle special. Perfect balance of flavors! This place is no Dragon Beaux in the city, but I thought was much better than HK East Ocean. Definitely did not expect it, but so delighted by this place.
I am a selfish human. I want to give them a high rating because I want then to be successful, but I don't want to fight you all for a place to sit. I wish they had a few side dishes (fried rice, or Chinese broccoli, white rice) just so you can make a full meal. But the food wash fresh and delicious. Staff was absolutely nice. Took all the women in my life for Mothers Day dim sum and no one was disappointed! Will definitely be coming for more!
Food quality is great and the staff is nice and friendly. They have space for dine in but I've only taken out. Seems like if you wanted to dine in, you'd have the run of the place (Saturday morning around 11am). It's a smaller place so it might not have all the dim sum offerings, but what they do have tasted great. Plus minimal wait times. You should also consider this place if you want to take it to go but don't want to head into Oakland Chinatown
Good assortment of house made dim Sum. I had egg rolls and sticky rice in lotus leaf, a few times there. Easy to order at the counter, short wait for food , in a clean environment, with limited amount of tables, inside/outside Friendly staff. Two blocks from the Alameda Farmers Market.

Do you want Dim Sum, but don't like the wait for a table or don't have two hours lunch time. I got the place for you, Dim Sum, Best of Taste, Alameda. Every plate of Dim Sum is made from scratch materials by the Chef himself. We were there on their grand opening, went to the back and talked to the chef. He refused to precooked and just reheated when order by customer. So, you may have to wait that 10 mins. But all worth it. Delicious.... You got to try their regular egg tarts, Portuguese egg tarts, and mango sagos drink (from real mango), my personal favorites. Prices are very reasonable.
I ordered some dim sum to go and the food is just okay. The portions are pretty small which would be good if you are eating it alone but not great if you're planning on sharing. The food itself tastes okay and is great for a quick craving on the go.
