Opinions de Angel Indian Restaurant Albans
I was so impressed by this restaurant! The food is delicious and the service is exceptional. There were tons of vegetarian and vegan options which is exactly what I was looking for. I am definitely coming back to this super cute place. I totally recommend!
Delicious food. We made a reservation for my birthday dinner here and when we arrived we were promptly seated. The food was delicious and the balance of heat and spice were handled expertly. We will be back. Sometimes the hype is worth the visit.
They’ve relocated to this much nicer, spacious, and premium location. The food is incredible. I tried the Kadhai Panner, Garlic Naan, Tandoori Roti, and Dahi Puri, and everything was delicious. The portions were satisfying, and the price point was fair for New York City. The staff, Mr. Azar and Mr. Prathmesh, were also very friendly. The chef, from the Punjab region of India, brings authentic flavors into the food. They even offer free chutney and papad to all tables, which is not only rare but also very thoughtful & nice of them. Will keep returning!
Our experience at Angel was incredible. It was my dad's 64th birthday, and they decorated a table for us, and made it special. This was my second time here, and I will continue to bring everyone I know to this amazing restaurant. My favorite thing is that the waiters give great recommendations. Like our waiter, Shaun, was great and helped us decide what to get, so we tried a lot of new foods we wouldn't have eaten otherwise. The staff is all nice and have a good sense of humor. The whole experience was great, and the food was truly SO amazing. Best Indian food I've ever had! You must go!
Angel Indian Restaurant in Jackson Heights absolutely lives up to the hype—and the Michelin-star chef recommendation by Vikas Khanna feels well deserved. From the moment the food hit the table, it was clear this is a place that takes traditional Indian flavors seriously while executing them with precision and heart. Amritsari Lassi The meal started on a high note with the Amritsari lassi—thick, creamy, and perfectly balanced. Not overly sweet, not too tangy, just deeply refreshing and indulgent. It felt authentic, like something you’d get in Punjab, and was the perfect companion to the bold flavors that followed. Samosa Chaat The samosa chaat was a flavor bomb. Crispy samosas broken down and layered with chickpeas, yogurt, chutneys, and spices—sweet, tangy, spicy, and crunchy all at once. Each bite had contrast and depth, and it never felt soggy or heavy. Street food comfort elevated to restaurant-level execution. Chicken Tandoori Starter The chicken tandoori was beautifully cooked—juicy on the inside with a smoky, charred exterior. The marinade penetrated deeply, giving the chicken layers of flavor rather than just surface spice. The fresh herbs and chutney on the side added brightness and balance. Goat Dum Biryani The star of the meal. The goat dum biryani was rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. Long-grain rice infused with whole spices, tender goat that fell apart effortlessly, and that unmistakable dum-cooked aroma when you dig in. This is slow-cooked comfort food done right—robust, soulful, and memorable. Amazing food
Angel Indian Restaurant in NYC is absolutely amazing. The lamb tandoori is top-tier juicy, tender, and perfectly spiced. Chicken tandoori was straight fire, full of smoky flavor and cooked just right. Every bite tasted fresh and authentic. The seasoning and marinade really stand out. Portion sizes are generous and totally worth it. The aroma alone makes you hungry instantly. Service was friendly and welcoming. Great spot for real Indian food lovers. Definitely coming back again and highly recommended. 🔥
I had an amazing experience at Angel with my family. The paneer was incredible and imo the best paneer in nyc. The service was also great and they were really accommodating. Our server Prathamesh was super kind and knowledgeable. We also had the amazing experience of meeting the chef and owner himself, Amritpal Singh, who happened to sit down next to us and eat with his family! We had a lovely conversation with him about his experiences and passion for cooking. It was extra special because we were celebrating my dad’s birthday and they really made sure we had the best experience possible and also sang happy birthday and gave us some complimentary kheer. Highly recommend the fresh lime soda, pani puri, samosa chaat, kadai paneer, and paneer kulcha! Will definitely be back soon.
One of the best Indian restaurants in NYC. Each dish we had topped the previous ones. We had a great samosa chaat and dahi batata puri. The dahi in the dahi batata puri was perfectly thick too. The lotus kofta and kadhai paneer then came out alongside the amritsari kulcha. Each item was incredibly flavorful. The piece de resistance was the dum biryani. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and felt tender. The service was amazing too! I strongly recommend getting a reservation here as seating is a bit limited.
Delicious food , portions are large and each item cooked with care . I have never tasted biriyani in US that tastes as authentic. The biriyani has meat in large portion and is soft perfectly cooked and melts in the mouth . Our server Adbul was genuinely welcoming . This place is worth every penny spent here. I am very glad we chose this from the list of about few … “10 best Indian restaurants” in NYC 😊
it was a lovely experience! The food were delicious every dish was bursting with flavor. We had butter chicken, bhindi masala, aloo tiki chat, paneer pb35. Plus garlic naan and fave amul cheese naan! We also got mango lassi. The service was warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. The cozy atmosphere made it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal. A special highlight was getting to chat with the chef himself Chef Amrit! such a friendly and passionate person who clearly loves what he does. Can’t wait to come back!
Halal indian spot on Jackson Heights. This is their newer location on 37th ave. We went on a Saturday during peak lunch time, it was about a 15 minute wait. The inside looks nice and has a clean ambiance. It's a bit narrow so it can look quite crowded, but it goes pretty far back. We ordered the crispy cauliflower, paneer tikka masala, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. Food came out so fast! Soo good and flavorful!! Service was very accommodating and friendly. Had a great time overall, can't wait to stop by again.
Food is heavily authentic, tasty, spices are really appropriate - fit for desi and Americans. We asked for kid friendly masala food and they really made it to cater. Would totally be back here again. The Briyani is tasty dum, full of kind spices, vegetables and butter. The vegetables could have been cut into smaller pieces and it would be more tasty. The staff are so well behaving, wonderful, friendly and serve with a smile. They even accommodated our special requests and win a 5 star to keep up their great work!!
Food was very authentic and delicious. We got chicken biryani, goat bhuna, and veg pakoda. We also got mango lassi. Lassi was very delicious and meat was really tender. The service was great and friendly. Side note, there are cheaper options around the area. However I dont mind the price, and would def come back. It was a bit tight in restaurant, so def go at a time when it doesn't get packed.
The place is pretty small, so you end up sitting really close to other tables, almost shoulder-to-shoulder. It’s not the most comfortable setup, and you can feel staff constantly walking by and clearing plates, which makes the meal feel a bit rushed. The food, though, is genuinely great. The flavors are rich, the mango lassi was perfect, and the tikka masala and naan were both really good. Everything looked fresh and plated nicely. I took a star off because of the atmosphere, but I’d still order from them again, just as takeout next time. I wish the space was a little bigger so the dining experience matched how good the food is.
What a gem! First, food is delicious. I’ve never had naan so fresh and chewy. Yum. Vegan dishes (yay!) are clearly noted, too. One of the only places in the neighborhood that does this. Second, service is impeccable. Everyone at this place is so helpful and friendly. It really made our night. Charming little spot. Will definitely be back.
I grew up in New York City and have been eating Indian food all over New York City as an Irish American, so I am by no means an expert, but we had a wonderful time here and the food was incredible. We have been meaning to come to Angel for quite some time as it was highly recommended to us by a friend so we came and we ordered our “usual Indian food order” but instead of getting a chicken tikka masala, we got lamb vindaloo. I have been on a hunt for chili chicken for a long time. I primarily have not found it because it has been too hot. We came to Angel and we had samosas, the lamb vindaloo, the chili chicken appetizer, which is called something else here (chicken PB 35 appetizer) but it is AMAZING, and the saag paneer. Everything was incredible. The saag paneer was so fresh and so flavorful, it was not overly blended, which I really liked. The chicken PB 35 was one of the most flavorful things I’ve ever eaten, while it reminds me of a chili chicken it wasn’t too sweet and the chicken was not overly breaded or fried which I really enjoyed. The lamb vindaloo was good, but I almost wish that I ordered what we normally get which is chicken tikka masala but it just means we have to be back! The service was amazing. We will definitely be back. The place was packed with people because it’s like a really good restaurant, we called ahead and made sure that we didn’t need a reservation. I can’t speak to a bigger crowds or groups. We also had a late dinner like 8 o’clock. I’m not sure if they would be harder to get into an earlier time or not. We were sitting really close to people in front of us and behind us. The girl behind me kept flipping her hair at me, but I just moved and got out of her way. I highly recommend this place.
Very hyped spot in JH. Went on a weekday and it wasn’t packed. The chicken biryani, the chicken was super tender but I think the whole dish lacked flavour. The lamb rogan josh sauce had pretty good flavour but the lamb wasn’t tender. The best flavour was the chickpea. Very yummy. The bread was interesting, a tad bit oily but good if eaten right when it’s served. Nothing was that spicy which was a bit disappointing.
The food was mediocre, I didn’t find anything more special. The price can be much lower given the location because with this price length, you can have everything the same in manhattan with a better setting and vibes. Service was rather underwhelming, we felt extremely forced to rush out while we normally a quick dinners. The service was on a poor side especially when the server (seemed like the captain or head service) forcefully took the plate of appetizers off our table regardless of my partner being eating from that plate still was awfully rude. I understand that they have only few seats and needed to turn the tables, but taking food out of customers when they’re still eating is another level of horrible service. Don’t feel like a nice place to dine in.
I had a very disappointing experience at Angel Indian Restaurant. From the moment we sat down, basic hygiene and service standards were lacking. The glasses had an unpleasant smell, the crockery was stained with visible food marks, and it was clear they had not been properly washed. Even the napkin provided was dirty, which was extremely off-putting. Service was equally poor. Our food arrived quite late, while the table next to us—who came after us—was served earlier. Used crockery was not cleared for a long time, and when the staff forgot to provide a clean napkin, they casually handed over tissues instead, which felt cheap and unprofessional for a dine-in restaurant. As for the food, I ordered Amritsari Aloo Kulcha, and unfortunately, it was not delicious at all—very average and far from authentic. To end the experience on an even more confusing note, there was unnecessary chaos at the billing counter regarding the merchant copy versus customer copy. We visited based on a recommendation that this restaurant is associated with a friend of Vikas Khanna, which raised our expectations. Sadly, the customer service was not even close to acceptable, and the food was just okay at best. This was not the experience we expected, and it is certainly not a place I would visit again. They didn’t even apologized damn!
