Best fish ever! I crave the delectable fish & red sauce!

I wish I had all the money that I've spent at Ted's, over the past 40 years. But it's certainly been worth it and always a treat. The great tasting fish is always tender and hot with large portions of French fries or onion rings. The finely sliced cabbage, inTed's coleslaw, makes it the best! I'm sure everything on their menu is good, but I can't comment because I always order 2 fish with tarter.

I've been going to Ted's since I was a little kid (and I'm old now). My grandpa would take me when we visited him. In over 40 years I've never had a bad meal or an unpleasant experience. Great fresh fishfry, great hotdogs (Hembold's), great everything. My daughter goes to school in Albany now and every visit I make a point of getting at least one meal at Ted's. Literally, 4 generations of my family have been eating at Ted's and the food is always good!

I’ve never been to this location and I was pleasantly surprised. They have a great team of employees, Omari and Bartholomer were top-notch with customer, service and cleanliness .

Morgan was our server/bartender and was absolutely terrific, I see a wonderful future ahead for this woman, If I was one of Ted's general managers or CEO's ; I would be taking a good look at this rising star, she not only works there, but is a college student as well! This is the first time I've been to the Albany location! Great atmosphere, staff was pleasant, and was very clean. Food was great as always! Will definitely visit this location again.

Updated review on service ,a bald man today 11-2-2025 not nice and I go here every week receipt says his name is Devine not sure if that is the bald man's name but he's not friendly no manners at all. And not sure if ill go back to this location because of this today..other than that food is great..he's seems moody and he isn't friendly or respectful at all..

I've been going to Ted's for many years. Every time I go, I'm impressed with how nice the staff treat each other and customers. This week, my wife intended to order a meal that came with Chowder. When we were served, no Chowder. We ordered the wrong meal. The manager sent Chowder to our table, no charge.

Overall, I was impressed. I had not had Ted's Fish Fry since I was a child, at least 25 years ago. The food came out fresh, hot, and fast! The Western avenue location was incredibly clean and the employees were pleasant. I would have included photos but I ate the food too fast to stop and take a photo. The fish was well seasoned and perfectly flaky, the scallops were delicious and the clams were fried perfect! The piece of fish that I got on my fish fry was so big, it allowed me to snap it in half and make an entire second sandwich. I am hoping that this is not beginners luck; I plan to return and try it again!

The food is delicious. We ordered regular hot dogs, french fries, munchers, and crab cakes. The only food I thought were okay (did not love) were the crab cakes, everything else was delicious. The service was great. We even enjoyed a cold beer at the bar with our food. Will be returning. Definitely recommend.

Love Ted's fish fry and have for years. This location is nice. There is a lot of seating room and fast service. Food is delicious, however I must say that I always order the same thing. Fish fry with tarter and ketchup and fries. Once in a while if I'm feeling adventurous I'll get onion rings which are good as well. Definitely a staple around here!!

My family and me always come to this one,staff are friendly,helpful,and are food always hot and fresh! place is clean we stop going to one in waltervielt just not good they need a manager at that one) anyways we are glad teds on western Ave is here ... I brought my family here for dinner Sunday because everyone loves Teds and there is a bar and TVs available for everyone to watch. The waitress ( Sarah) was helpful and her service was spot on, she took everyone's order and brought the food out as soon as it was ready. She was attentive asking if anyone needed anything, second beverages etc. When bringing out a beer to the table she accidentally spilt a bit on someone and was obviously upset - but we were fine about it, it was an accident no harm and the table was pretty crowded with all of our (party of 8) dinners and beverages. She was so apologetic - it part of being a waiter no problem. Thank you "Sarah" for your greta service and Teds for a great meal.

Great time dining at the Ted's on Western Ave.The dining area was spotless,the food prep area was very orderly, and the staff were very pleasant to the customers,and to each other. The line moved pretty fast,and I heard no complaints from persons doing pick up orders. Ted's is known for their fish,but the fries and onion rings are top notch. This Teds has a really great parking too.

Today I went in for my to go dinner and the man at the counter made my whole night. Not only was he very quick, friendly and had personal touches but he made me laugh the entire time. I have my suspicions to believe he is the manager but, he could also just have had that high level of customer service. Eitherway, I watched him care of each individual in that store and that spoke volumes. I didn’t even eat my food yet that I know I will love, and had to leave my review. I have been here many times with great staff each occasion but this time was even above every other. Little did he know, I worked a long shift today and needed a smile. Again, thank you for making my night. Will be back!!

Everyone was so welcoming as soon as I walked in. I ordered the new crispy chicken sandwich and my friend got the fish lunch special. The food came out quick and tasted amazing! The manager must have the place under control. I highly recommend stopping in for a bite to eat. I will definitely be back

Love fish and came here to get 1/2 dozen fis fries for my VFW Post and support the cause of the Irish Marching band coming to America; 20% of proceeds were donated. Thanks Ted's for great service and great food.

Ted's is finally back on Western Ave! The place is clean and I felt safe with everyone wearing masks. I changed it my normal cheeseburger order this time and had the fish fry lunch special with the chili sauce. It was fried perfectly. I can't wait for the bar side to open!!!

I was in town and visited this location based on a good recommendation. There was ample free and convenient parking. Food service was fast and efficient, with good options and combos to choose from. The workers were friendly and worked well together as a team to get orders in and out quickly. The food was tasty and fresh—especially the coleslaw. I rarely eat coleslaw, but theirs was surprisingly good. I would definitely come back again.

Great Teds location—very, very clean! They even have a bar at this spot, which was a nice surprise. Service was efficient, and the food was perfect as always. Plenty of seating was available, so it never felt crowded. Prices were a little on the higher side, but that seems to be the norm everywhere these days. Overall, a great experience.

Went after hearing about this sandwich special for a few months. I gotta saw it lived up to expectations. (Order the tarter in the side, way to much. Half of what they used was way to much). They were very accommodating with the kids meal and they enjoyed it as well.

Restaurant is clean, nice atmosphere, indoor and outdoor seating. Fish is very bland but not the worst. Milkshakes could be a little thicker. I am going to eat there again.

It is what it is. If you want fried fish and french fries it's an okay place to go. Some may love it, but I'm not really into fried food. The place was clean though, and the service was good.

Great! Enjoyed this new location, and appreciate the attached lounge. Wish the menu allowed you to actually pick two items. I wanted shrimp and scallops, but that combo ONLY came with a piece of fish included.....which seemed to be designed for a family, not an individual. Settled for just shrimp. I'll return, but hope that I'll be able to custom my order at that time.

Stopped for Wednesday dinner. Nice selection of bottled, canned and draft beer. Had a nice IPA. New England clam chowder was very tasty. The seafood platter fish was well prepared, crispy, tasty, 3 moderate filets. Shrimp were good, heavily breaded. Clams were pretty well prepared. Fries were undercooked but palatable. Cole slaw good. Service in the bar area was great. Atmosphere is that of a small bar. Overall good experience and would return.

Used to be our standard Friday fish fry but now we go any day of the week that were in the mood. In my opinion it's the best fish fry in town!!! Oh and you got to try the hot wing sauce with the fish fry they gave me one by accident and it was so delicious the next time I ordered ordered it on the side on purpose.

Good place, large with inside and outside seating. Staff seemed fine. Fast food style service without that chain restaurant tediousness. Food was real good. I got a fish fry dinner, an adequate amount of fish, lots of French fries, and Cole slaw. The Cole slaw stood out for me (usually don't like slaw) as it had some bite. Price seemed fair. I'd definitely go back. Dine in or take out.

This new location operates much like Ted's other locations especially re menu choices. My wife and I each had the fish fry lunch combo to go with fries, slaw and drink for under $10. We reheated everything when we got home and it did not suffer at all. The fish fry was very good. The fish seemed very fresh as was the bun.The fries were tasty as was the small side of slaw. Condiments provided in the take out bag without having to ask but no napkins or plastic ware provided. Probably have to take those yourself but since we were going home that didn't matter. Tartar sauce was excellent. Cocktail sauce unusual and spicy. Choice of bottled soda. The only downside is they don't do curbside service. Both indoor and outdoor seating but outdoor was a little too close to Western Ave traffic and noise for us. Basically this is a place that gives you what you expect at a fair price.

If you like fish fry I'm pretty certain you'll enjoy Ted's. It is not a fancy restaurant the part of the restaurant we ate in did not have table service. I had not realized the other half of the restaurant had a bar left from the prior ownership before it was a fish fry. I don't know if the menu is any different or the services any different on that side of the restaurant.

Stopped in for a bite to eat and was very happy with my order. Being that I'm from out of town I'm very picky about what I eat. This place gets a thumbs up especially the spun milkshake. Go Ted's!!!!

Decided to stop in food dinner this evening but unfortunately had to take it to go because there is NO HEAT! NOT FAIR TO THE EMPLOYEES who state the business is waiting for a part for the heater. If, that is the case you should close and not make your employees suffer. I was standing waiting for my food with my jacket on and it just was very cold!!!!!!

This was my first time visiting the Western Ave location. My daughter and I stopped in for an early lunch. They have a bar area in the back and counter to order food. They also have a few outdoor tables. We got 2 clam frys and french fries. The food came out quickly and was piping hot.

This was a stop in our road trip upstate. I saw recommendations about Ted's fry and we happened to pass by this location because I know there are 2. The inside was spacious and even had a back bar called Ted's. The fish fry, which was what they are known for, is an interesting concept of fish on a hot dog bun. The fish was lightly breaded, not too salty, perfectly crisp and cooked. The bun was nothing extraordinary, unseasoned, untoasted. I would say the star of the show was the Coleslaw. I would recommend getting the meal if it's your first time to try everything they have because just the fish fry isn't that flavorful.

The food is delicious but there is some confusion with their menu. They have a menu item called fish-and-chips but it does not come with chips! I was told by staff that you need to order the fish dinner to get French fries with it or chips as they are called. I suggested they make a change to to the menu to reflect this but I was basically told it is what it is. Hope this saves some confusion for others!

I asked for the dinner which has the little pieces of fish and fries and the girl behind the counter said oh you want the lunch special that has what you looking for. when I got home I realized that it was not what I asked for. It was the regular lunch special plus prices are way to high for fast food

I ordered oysters, and I got fried poop and slime There was no oyster meat in them🙁. A waist of money. The fish fry was good.tje onion rings wasn't crispy. They where flat together🙁

The fish was good here nice and freshly cooked. I was a little thrown off though, the fish had a weird ammonia smell that I noticed. Not sure if this is normal.

I stopped in a couple of days ago and got an order of clams to go. I left with my bag in hand and was eagerly looking forward to enjoying my purchase. When I opened it, most of my clams were LITTLE, TINY bits that were way too small to even dip in the sauce! Sooo, basically, I paid over $10 for what looked like a bunch of CRUMBS!!! They should be ashamed of themselves. The "bigger" this company gets, the less they seem to care about providing a quality experience for their customers. What an utter disappointment. 😔

Not too good considering price. The quantity used to be greater; portions are pretty small, now. Was once a go - to place for me but increased menu prices alongside decreased portions have put me off. There was a very sour taste to the fish, too.

I love a good fish and chips! Food is consistently good. Doesn’t seem to be enough staff during busy times. They do their best. Atmosphere? Like any other fast food joint but very clean 👍🏻

The fruit punch from f Fountain is taste like water u should fix it

This location just isn’t up to par with the others. They failed to service the two older gentleman correctly that were ahead of me. Instead of Buffalo sauce on the side of my calamari they put it on there which I’ve never experienced at any other teds. Was barely any sauce on there to pay extra. Got home and they gave me cocktail sauce with my fish instead of ketchup. My fish portion was also super skinny. Deff won’t return to this location. I’ve been going to teds since I was a kid & this spot really lacked the warmth and care the others have.

I use to enjoy going to Ted's Fish Fry, but lately their food have not been up to par. Yesterday, I ordered a lunch special that included a fish fry with onion rings and cole slaw. The fish was just okay, but the onion rings were terrible. They were not fresh and they were also reheated instead of freshly cooked. Also, the cole slaw was too salty. This is the second time that I gotten bad food from Ted's Fish Fry. Won't be going back anytime soon.

Clam strips were over fried not even a good amount of clam strips, tartar sauce is terrible coleslaw is terrible and the fries aren't that good

Gave 2 stars but not for the food but for the pricing of the food. Got a couple of fish fry's and a fish fry dinner.......$49.80 ........Looks like we will not be eating there any time soon. My family loves the food but come on.

Order for Curbside pickup for lunch today. I call when I arrive & am informed that I have to come in to get my order. Luckily I did not have my 2-year-old with me or I would not have been able to go in without a hassle. I arrive home and find that they forgot to include 2 of my 3 cheeseburgers as well as silverware and napkins I requested. I call to inquire about what can be done. Their suggestion is that I drive back 10-15 minutes to the store to get the two cheeseburgers or they can write my name down for a future order. I am sure they will lose my name and I will never get my money back. I am not thrilled with my experience.

Just stopped by for dinner. 2 fish and chips 2 clam chowders. A nice dinner out for $26. Why only 2 stars? Much to my shigrin the fish and chips did not come with chips. Not French fries, not literal chips just fish (fish was good as always.) Asked the employees and was told this is a bit confusing but the fries only come with the dinner. The clam chowder was inedible. Tasted sour beyond consumption. Employees and location are great, ill chalk this one up to tightened margins due to covid. Wish them and their business the best.

The only reason I am giving a 2 stars is based on Customer Service by a new employee in training. This was my first time ever going to a Ted's Fish Fry .I have to say I was very very excited since I read so many positive reviews. I got the Fish Fry and onion rings. Unfortunately, my onion rings were soaked in grease and over the top oily. There wasn't even a crunch! Just soggy! My fish was very dry with no favor. I do realize that my food was deep fried in oil. All that grease made it unbearable to eat. I'm disappointed. Maybe everyone was having a off moment. Who knows :)

Its been years since we ate at a Ted's Fish Fry, and now I remember why: It was a below average meal. Friday night, 5:15pm, a steady line, so it should have been the freshest food coming out, right? Not. I got the seafood dinner, and my wife got the fried clam dinner. The fries were old and barely warm. The clams on both plates were unevenly cooked, and some parts were undercooked, stuck together and doughy (yuck!). My wife's coleslaw had a strange plastic taste and did not look like my slaw, so that went into the trashcan. Then they throw an old, stale HOT DOG roll on the side. WHY? Who eats that? On the seafood dinner, the small butterfly shrimp were a frozen product like from the local grocery store, not fresh shrimp. The fish was decent, and I will say that the scallops were terrific. The restaurant was clean, and that's the only reason it got 2 stars instead of 1. For $36, you expect a better fish meal, especially if that's all they sell!

Chowders are very good. Shrimp dinner was disappointing and not good. Heavily breaded shrimp were overcooked and had no taste. Service was ok.

I went for take out. Staff very friendly and kept the line moving but 6ft social distancing was difficult cause orders were going in faster than they were coming out. Wait time was less than 5 min. Fish Fry was great and Fish Tacos were very good as well. I was extremely disappointed in the fried clams. They were so over cooked and impossible to eat because they were so hard. Otherwise I would have given a better review. No more clams for me!

Ordered a fish fry through Mealeo that was $9.00 plus tax when usually it’s $7.75 at every other Ted’s fish fry location. I asked for a fountain drink or etc for the difference that was overcharged and management didn’t offer any solution to the problem. The person I talked to, that claimed they were the manager on shift, noted that they expected price changes to their menu soon but was not sure that it happened as yet but still assured me they had no solution or idea to why the price is different than what’s in store. It’s misleading to any customer spending money with a business & dishonest. It’s not about the amount it’s about the principle of trusting the restaurant cooking the food. If you don’t mind being scammed out of your money then shop here.

Fish was cut into small pieces which typically comes from more desirable dinner cut scraps. Fish was not haddock, more likely pollock. The fish was served in under 2 minutes meaning it was precooked and tasted it. Clam roll was chewy and not tender, most likely frozen strips. Both were served with 1/4 cup glob of bland mayo rich tartar sauce on top. Fries were good and place was clean. Ted's management replied and accepted responsibility for customer satisfaction. For that, I've improved my score across the board and will try their food again.

Sooo bad. I ordered fish fry and a cheesecake for dessert. Didn’t receive the cheese cake and the fish was dry, tasted like it was frozen and made me nauseous for the rest of the day. There are other places in Albany to get fish fry. I will never go here again.

Everything was bland except the coleslaw but that tasted over salted and like it was left on a warm shelf to go bad. Honestly if not for that fact I had gum after I would've been worried I had covid with how flavorless it was, even the drinks lacked syrup, don't come here no week days.

I went to the location on western Ave for the first time and was met buy what I believe to be ignorance and tad bit of racism. I walked in not knowing where to order and was met by who I believe is the owner or manager and told how I order, the an older white man scurries in behind me as I'm moving up to order he shoots passed me to place his order without acknowledging that I was even there and places his order with the man who was taking orders, and even then that person didn't even acknowledge that I was there first. The man who ordered before me had place an order that was bigger than the one fish I ordered, he pulled out $20 and was told his order was $2.75. That bugged me out because I only ordered 1 fish fry and he ordered 2 fish, onion rings, and coleslaw, Meanwhile I paid $7 for one fish. I couldn't do anything but laugh at the pitiful duo because I was hungry and don't eat other meat. All of the years since the 1980's eating at a teds have I ever felt that me and my money were disrespected. To the person who took my order, you are heard loud and clear we are not welcome.

Was there yesterday and got 50.00 dollars of food and it was nasty. Clams were hard and so we're the rolls. Fish was so small and dry. This is the second time so I don't think I will ever go back there. Workers were dirty looking and just talking to each other and not very nice to the customers at all. Hope owner of this teds gets his act together and gets better help

I ask for well fish fry. Ask him if was well with no response get it to the tables not well then a dummy try to short me on dollar I have to ask for my food and the fish Fry was half the size

First time ordering and will be my last. Never got to even taste the food because it was improperly packaged for take out, no insulation for hot foods and completely accessible for anyone to touch!! Hot plate of fish and chips with a piece of wax paper to cover it, shoved into a paper bag like a slice of pizza!!! Who does take out orders like that?! Management needs to make some serious changes or you will lose business. Unacceptable and disappointing because I really wanted to try Ted’s….it just shows that they just don’t care and that’s sad. Welcome to Albany…the capital 😏 I really wanted my money back!!!

1st time ever at Teds tonite. Last time ever at Teds tonite. Ordered the seafood platter. 20 dollars and change for what was a decent pile of fries, but 2 pieces of fried shrimp, 6-8 small pieces of fried "scallops", and a palm full of fried clams with 2 slender pieces of some kind of fish. To much money for too little food.. Tried dipping the fish in the tarter sauce and they kept getting stuck. I dug the pieces out with the plastic fork. All breaded, some over cooked so called seafood. Is it me or is this the state of fast food today. Oh, by the way, the dining area of this western ave. location was pretty dirty,..... napkins, drink container lids, straws on the floor. I wiped down my seat and table myself. Overall.......Yuck

I’m not understanding why if I place a mobile pickup order and drive 20 minutes for it, why are you guys waiting until I get there to drop the food, the point of a mobile order is to be ready when you get there. For all that I would’ve order there had to wait an extra 15 minutes because of this not right at all .

Your cashier was right to tell you —you are still open and the manager shouldn’t have yelled at the young man for serving customers. Like pathetic to travel that far to be denied was it the color of my skin? Black dollars matter too! Gas is high as hell! What would have done for you to cook 5 fish? Yes I did bring color into this because all 5 customers were black with a white family eating inside! Yeah! This isn’t the time to turn people away! I don’t care what holiday is coming tomorrow! Hours of operation reflect until 7:45! Not 7:30 because u lazy and don’t want cook for colored folks! Never will go here and being an out of town customer yeah disgusted!! Went to get some dinner after spending 8 hrs at Albany Med after my grandson was hit by a car. The counter person was obvious high or impaired. I had to repeat my order 3 times and he still got it wrong. After our order was paid for and cooked. He tells me I still owed him $10 more dollars because messed up. After speaking with his supervisor, she refused to honor the order. A whole 10 minutes after we paid and were ready to leave. My family has been a to many of the locations throughout the Capitol District and bring family there from out of town. I will never visit this location again. After the rude service, we decided to go up the road to 5Guys

My first time going to this Teds. And I have to say it, this food is awful. My Watervliet Teds would never. Got cheese fries and there’s hardly any cheese at all on it. Got buffalo chicken tenders and they gave me an incredibly small amount of sauce on the side. Why am I paying extra for cheese and buffalo sauce and get nearly none? This is ridiculous and I’m outraged. Will never go back to this Teds. I’m pissed.
