First rate place. The food is excellent and the taps are clean. Maybe more cool for the 50+ set than for the younguns, this is a reliable spot. Wings are legit, as is the burger.
Great neighborhood joint. Bartender friendly, reasonable prices - for Manhattan, not generally of course. Food was good, beer tasted fresh. Good atmosphere. If you want to come for brunch come early or late - it's popular and with good reason! Their coffee bar is worth going out of your way for - good thing you can get it from their to-go window - which is a great idea btw! Only negative is that it's a relatively small place - but good corner location and front bar area feels open.
I love this place! Definitely a go to whenever in Murray Hill. Really solid brunch on the weekends, delicious coffee and pastries on the way to work from their coffee window, and a fun spot to go out with friends. I could eat their buttermilk chicken bites everyday. They just updated their menu too with a bunch of new items. Highly recommend!
Such a great neighborhood spot to get delicious meals or a quick coffee on the go. I ordered the truffle spinach ravioli and it was do decadent and yummy! They are super fast with delivery as well in case you want to just eat at home.
Best place to eat and have drinks before you go to the movies and it's conveniently located across the street from AMC theater. They have a special drink for big movie premieres. I've been here several times and have enjoyed their burger, shoe sting fries with truffle aioli and their buffalo hot wings. Service is quick and the workers are hospitable. Always looking forward to coming here before watching a movie.
Went for brunch on Sunday Dec 11th. Awesome service, amazing food. Had the "hangover helper" burger which definitely lives up to it's name lol. My other friends loved their food as well. Natalia our server was very sweet and attentive - thank you so much for a great brunch! Definitely will be back to try out your happy hour next time.
We stopped by this restaurant randomly on a very cold day. The decor and ambiance is well done. We had the pleasure of having a wonderfu waitress (that would be Emily :). The wait was minimal, the food excellent and the attention to detail satisfied me and I am very hard to please. Additionally, for being smack in the middle of the city, the price is quite reasonable. We will definitely be returning. Kudos also to Scott who is a manager. Good place, good food, good service and good prices. What more can one ask?
The pork sausage and eggs over easy were simple and delicious, but the pancakes were some of the best I’ve had in a long while.
Friendly service. I ordered a smoothie (with mango, orange, ginger, banana, and sweet potato) that was a very interesting combination and a cauliflower salad (with dried cranberries and slivered almonds). It was very nice to have a delicious, vegan-friendly, filling, and healthy lunch!
Signature Grill House Burger is a MUST TRY. CRISPY FRIES AND A NICE COLD BREWSKI!!! And you are all set! Great service. Nice Bar Selection. Very tasty food. Delicious.
I went to the Hill and Bay take out window yesterday and was absolutely thrilled to have wonderful customer service. I ordered multiple coffees and asked for a bag to make it easier to carry. The wonderful employees went above and beyond wrapping up each coffee in plastic wrap even under the lid to avoid spillage! Such a pleasant surprise and seriously the only exceptional service in all of NYC
Hill and bay has now become one of our favorite eating places. Good atmosphere, great food, and the service was on point. Our server was patient, friendly, helpful, and kind. I enjoyed the date night with my wife that evening. Thank you.
Hill and Bay has such attentive staff, great food, and amazing coffee. Highly recommend
We came for brunch- had the outdoor seating to ourselves with heaters. The food was great. We had the salmon burger, the house burger and 2 steaks at different temperatures with tater totos and sweet potato fries which all came out as ordered. Natalie was attentive in a friendly and organized manner. We will definitely be back. Please support them. They also have a take away window.
Food is okay. Happy hour drinks and rotating daily deals are great. The fireball special drink was good and it was gone with Mario! It's a bit out of the way, but it's a good place for happy hour dinner before watching a movie at AMC.
This place is great. I had a scrambled eggs and tater tots dish with turkey bacon and it was gorgeous. Staff were friendly and attentive and it was very well priced. I'll be going here again before I go home and coming back next time I'm here.
Fantastic service and food -- all 5 stars. Also love the sidewalk seating, which I took advantage of during my most recent visit. I had blueberry pancakes and bacon, which was perfectly crispy -- a rarity.,
I've been passing this place on my way to my favorite movie theatre for MONTHS! Each time, I'd smell the steak and say; "After the movie", unfortunately, they close at 10. I finally had a chance to get the ribeye and it was well worth the wait. My waitress was a doll and the atmosphere is beyond prime. You can get a free burger on your birthday too.
I had a great dining experience at Hill and Bay during my stay in NY. The location was nice and comfortable and I was politely greeted as soon as I walked in. My waiter was excellent in making sure I was accommodated and did not disappoint! The food was delicious; I was 100% satisfied. I definitely look forward to visiting again!
We’ve been here a few times now and love it. Really friendly staff and the food is great. Nice selection of beer too. Absolutely love the brunch - best place in the neighbourhood by far.
The staff here is incredible! And the happy hour specials are crazy good, especially for this neighborhood.
Terrific local bar and restaurant. Their bacon cheeseburger is amazing. The bartender, John, knows the names of all the patrons. Real easy fit for a drink or dinner before seeing a movie at AMC Kips Bay theater. The only downside is that cook has not changed the menu in years.
Wow. I took my gf (girlfriend) to this spot on an impulse, and we liked it so much, we returned the night after! The atmosphere is cozy, the drinks are cheap and the sweet potato fries are Delicious (and yes, that’s a capital D!) Like Dorothy said, “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore!” -The Wizard of Oz, 1939
Has become my go-to brunch spot in Kips Bay. Good food and smoothies, and not that busy.
This place was great! Stopped by here with my 6-year-old for breakfast. It wasn't crowded, they seated is right away, and the food is excellent! If you're looking for a classic diner breakfast, this isn't your place. But if you are looking for a fun, modern twist on breakfast classics, get in here!! My only critique that I have for the management is to make your children's breakfast menu available. The lunch/dinner options are readily available, but the breakfast options for kids are not clear... Even the staff aren't sure. Otherwise, stunning! We will be back!!
The best in town!!! Anytime I want to take family and friends and coworkers to eat somewhere that not only the service is AMAZING but also the food is SPECTACULAR I take them to Hill & Bay!!! Truly, one of my favorite spots in the city!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is a nice place it's very cute and people definitely seem to enjoy it. It has a good atmosphere and attentive service. Since I am a top reviewer I would list minor things that could be improved such as who knows tiny little details. I did think that they used too much salt and that being said we had a very good time and it was a very good atmosphere for us to sit outside and enjoy. There were a lot of bees and although they can't do much about it I wonder if there are any solutions for minor changes that could be improved. When people are moving about things need to be super clear and easy. So, I'm sure someone could come through and do tiny little revisions to make this the best it can be. That being said I think it's a good solution if you want to have a good time and a good atmosphere and have good food. So I'm giving it a good review and if you decide to choose this place you will enjoy. Have a great day.
Absolutely the best burger in town.. great service and good vibe. Nothing more to say. Just love love it. Will definitely visit again.
RIP hill and bay. One of my go to spots In the neighborhood. Perfect spot to hit for lunch before a movie. Absolutely love their wraps the chipotle chicken wrap might be my favorite in the city. The French onion soup is also quite good as is the Mac and cheese. So far there hasn’t been anything I wouldn’t recommend. I do wish they had a slightly better beer list but the ones they do have give you plenty of options. As I mentioned it’s a great place to go before a movie and every week they have a new movie themed cocktail.
This place represents the apex of the dining experience. The dish showed understanding of complementary flavors. Their team combined warm approaches with kind service. This establishment gives visitors what they want. This place offers complete joy.
Great time. Visited this establishment on the 4th of July. Excellent food, was to sit outside under the tent. Our server Lidia, was very attentive and hospitable. Highly recommend if you get the chance. BBQ Turkey Burger, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, sweet potato fries were off the charts.
I never saw my son so happy because he finally found a place where they made a well-done stake to perfection. The service was very good. I want to thank Jhon, the bartender, for being excellent cordial and for making that delicious drink blazing apples. I'll gladly be there soon
Great place, the main thing is that everything is always delicious and the food is quick! Thanks for the service!
Had the chicken parm at lunch. Sunday early afternoon service was fast! Good food, would return.
I’ve visited twice after going to the movies and the food is great, the bartender was friendly and attentive. Great place to grab a beer or cocktail and there is a wide variety of things on the menu. I need to try their brunch next.
Went for restaurant week, my bf and I both got a burger and shoestring fries and a cookie sundae and brownie sundae. Burger was sooooo good, fries were nice and crispy. Only thing was the sundae had a weird thing on top of the ice cream, might have been some kind of whipped cream but grainy? It was still delicious but we ate around it.
This place was worth hoping for! The workers were exceptionally welcoming, and were eager to respond to every question. The taste combinations here are unique. It sits in a good place with a welcoming team. We'll make this place a regular stop.
Good sandiwches and burgers and great draft beer options! Spent the afternoon there for lunch! The chipotle pepper jack chicken wrap is my favourite because the chicken is soft and spiced to perfection. Draft beers have got something for everyone, from IPAs to Lagers, but there's also the regular can and bottle section.
Great local spot! Service is always fast and super friendly, and the food is delicious and always fresh. We love to come here before/after a movie at AMC Kips Bay since it's right across the street! We'll sometimes pull a double header and go to the movies in the AM, hit Hill and Bay for lunch, and go back to AMC for a late afternoon movie. The buffalo chicken salad is incredible and so are the tacos!
Great place to grab dinner and a drink. Good food, good portions, and cheap drinks. Rotating nightly special menu. The place is a little small but they have some additional seating in the back. Service is quick and friendly. Grill burger was delicious, nice big solid burger. Side of fries was excellently crisp though a little unseasoned. Salmon salad had a nice piece of salmon which tasted good but the rest of the salad was a little plain. Drink prices are great though. Happy Hour beer and cocktails are about $4-$6 and drink specials are $5-$7. Other cocktails are a little more but most of what you would want is available pretty cheap.
I came across this place thanks to google maps. I’m so surprised I didn’t have to tell the waiter how I want my burger cooked! Well done and burnt just how I love it. Gotten also the tacos. I thought it was beef but it was fish. It had wonderful flavors but I don’t eat fish. To wash down, I had the Pineapple Express….
Hill and Bay has such an easy going vibe to it. We had the Salmon Burger & Hill and Bay Classic with a side of sweet potato fries! They were delish! The classic was probably the juiciest burger I’ve ever had, I probably should have taken a picture of the aftermath. We will be back again for sure!
Cute bar/cafe atmosphere in the city. Old movie posters on the wall and exposed brick give the space character. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We did not have a wait at all but that may have been because it was Easter Sunday. I had the eggs Benedict and my only complaint was that the hollandaise was bland. The cucumber ginger juice blend I had was delicious. Others in my party enjoyed their food. The French onion soup was good, the waffles and chicken were also.
Hill and Bay has become an integral part of my morning routine, thanks to its convenient walk-through window for coffee enthusiasts like me. This spot has elevated my coffee experience, and I can't help but appreciate the fantastic service, especially from the energetic and friendly barista, Jose. The walk-through window is a major plus for those on the go, providing a quick and efficient way to start the day with a freshly brewed cup of coffee. The convenience of this service is a game-changer for busy mornings, and Hill and Bay have nailed it with their seamless operation. Jose, the barista, deserves a special mention for his exceptional customer service. His positive energy and friendly demeanor make each visit a delightful experience. It's evident that he takes pride in his work, creating a welcoming atmosphere that sets Hill and Bay apart. While I haven't had the chance to dine in yet, the consistently excellent service during my coffee stops has piqued my interest, and I look forward to trying out their menu soon. If the morning service is any indication, I'm confident that the dining experience at Hill and Bay will be nothing short of exceptional. In conclusion, Hill and Bay has become more than just a coffee stop for me; it's a place where exceptional service and great energy converge to create a positive start to my day. I highly recommend stopping by for a cup of coffee and, like me, you might find yourself eager to explore their dining options in the near future.
My photo isn’t the most appealing but I can easily say that this wrap was top 5. I’ve been coming here for a while now. Easily the best happy hour deal in the Kips Bay/Murray Hill area and it’s not even close. They have the standard happy hour deal and each day add a new twist to the choice you get. They serve every meal of the day. My friend got the skirt steak salad and a whole steak came with it. Highly recommend here for a good meal or to have more of an intimate happy hour drink vs the other spots in the area
Looking for a quick and casual wind down after weekday? Great dishes, drinks, and atmosphere without breaking the bank. Prime Kips Bay/Murray Hill location to catch up with your Midtown folks. Thank god for indoor dining, but outdoor dining seems well heated. Don’t think you’ll beat the drinks prices anywhere, unless you start shaking up cocktails in your flex 2 bedrooms. Burger was well seasoned and cooked to medium rare. Personally would have liked the buns toasted more. My pescatarian friend spoke well of the fish tacos. Their house bourbon/whiskey was a brand I did not recognize, and personally a bit higher sugar ratio on the old fashioned - but still a great drink nonetheless. Incredibly friendly staff, though seemed very busy and multitasking.
I sat here and had a very good lunch. My first moment out of the hospital after days of being in during the birth of my daughter. It's a nice spot to take a break for anyone at NYU Langone. The chicken salad I had was fresh and I sent my in-laws there as well when they needed to stay out for a bit. Give it a try!
Hopped in on Wednesday with a friend for the Happy Hour. They take covid seriously so have a mask and vax card. Drinks were well made and strong. Wings were half off and delicious. The coffee was solid. The servers were kind, quick, and thoughtful. I was having a rough day but had such a good time I was able to put it behind me. If the happy hour menu was more expensive I'd give 5 stars. Otherwise, this is one of my go tos on the east side.
No BBQ sauce after Asian-Style sticky wings. Ate me 12.
Went with a few friends on a Tuesday evening. Ordered buffalo wings, meatballs, signature burger, and the shoestring fries (both sweet potato and classic). It seemed that they forgot the appetizers because after about 25 minutes of being there, still no food. When we reminded them, they promptly brought wings and meatballs over but not cooked well. That being said, burger was awesome and fries were incredible. Half off bottles of wine on Tuesday led to $4 glasses of wine. Good happy hour spot and good food if they don't forget your order.
Pretty good. Went with the wife tonight, was a bit quiet (the election celebration was happening in midtown) which was fine for us, long day. My drink was an amazing Porter from Toronto (Shoutout to Collective Brewery) and my wife had the Green Mile smoothie, which was actually pretty good. Everything is in a mason jar though, so keep that in mind. I ordered the Argentinian Steak Tips and she got the Pasta Bolognese with Salmon. We also split the brussel sprouts with bacon. My Steak was ok, though the Chimmichurri seemed very bland and didn't bring much flavor to the dish. The greens with dressing was good though, as was the Tots I subbed in. My wife liked the Pasta, though the salmon was kind of dry (served separate). Sprouts were ok as well, not too chewy, though a little bland as well. Bacon bits definitely helped it along. Ended up being $100 after all was said and done, but thats NYC for you. Only other gripe was service took a while to bring the food out. There are plenty of options here, so may come around again in future to try something else
Food was fine. Decent selection to satisfy my picky son. Bacon was good but had a more smokey flavor than I was expecting. Toast and biscuits were hard.
This place has a very laid back atmosphere in the middle of a bustling city and friendly staff. I ordered the grilled house burger that was juicy and flavorful, paired with crispy sweet potato fries. I love sweet potato fries and I loved the crispy outside but soft inside and they weren't burnt. Just enough crunch. We capped off our meal with a dulce de leche warm brownie it's topped with ice cream—an absolute must-try! The service was attentive, and the prices were reasonable for the generous portions.
*Tater Tot Review Included* This place had its plain tater tots perfectly crisped (very delightful), which went well with the HB Bennies. The food didn’t seem to have any particular direction of flavor, yet it was good for the eggs Benedict-style dish it was. The mimosa was standard-fare, while on the lower quality side of that middle ground.
Not the worst place to go for a bite, but not the best. We decided to dine outdoors and I got the loaded tots, which are seen in the photo for this review. My partner got the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich. Note, burgers and sandwiches do not come with fries, so be prepared to spend about $20 for burgers and fries that are fairly run of the mill. This is one of those places that are cool to come to if you're already in the Kips Bay / Midtown East area, but I wouldn't travel out of my way for it. Definitely a neighbourhood spot. Staff is great and respectful, but the food is pretty mundane. With a cocktail, the meal averages 26 - 32 per person before tax and tips.
We had a good time at Hill and Bay during a recent holiday gathering in the back room. The staff service was excellent. We ordered the eggplant Parmesan and the burger. The burger was one of the best I’ve had. It was cooked perfectly, great meat with a Smokey flavor and excellent sauce. The eggplant Parmesan was not good - it was dry, hard and almost like eating veal. Besides the eggplant everything was well setup, organized and perfect.
We thought we'd give this place a go since it's quite close to us. Not a huge menu but we enjoyed most everything we had. The burgers are huge slabs of meat and surprisingly managed to keep a cylindrical shape after cooking. Very tasty as was the fried chicken starter. Thr ice cream cookie was okay, but literally was one large cookie with 2 scoops of ice cream and some whipped cream. Definitely go back for the burgers alone. Seemed to be full of a lot of tourists for some reason, but the place was reasonably quiet and service was fine.
Was ok. Don't know if it was because of the time of day but service was lacking. I witnessed 2 people leave because no one came to greet them. Pretty decent upkeep. The whole time I was there (a little over an hour) some guy was cleaning the bar area. I will have to try again later in in the day but lunch time was just ok.
8/13/25 AC broken. Too humid and warm to eat. Normally pretty good place.
Food is pretty good but brunch service was slow and disorganized. Gave them my name for a party of 4 for Sunday brunch, and after about 15 minutes it became clear that they never wrote it down. It turned out fine because I checked with them and they moved us back to the top of the list since a waiter recognized that I'd been standing there the whole time, but still annoying. Then after seating us and taking our order, our waiter completely disappeared. My friend had to ask another waiter to bring her the orange juice that she'd ordered. The food took an excessively long time. Everyone had finished their drinks and never got an opportunity to order a second. The hangover helper and tuna melt were both tasty, though the presentation of the tuna melt was thoroughly stupid. It was open face, so you had to eat it with a knife and fork, but they give it to you on a wooden board covered with butcher paper and when you cut the sandwich the (soggy) butcher paper rips and you're hard pressed not to accidentally eat some of it. I would order seamless from here but wouldn't eat in again.
Where do i start, first and foremost i work in this area so my co workers and i are always at the spots for lunch. This place we’ve came a handful of times and always leave disappointed. Hospitality is horrible, staff don’t greet u upon arriving, never smiling, and act as if you’re disturbing them. Such a unwelcoming staff as a whole. Act as if they don’t want you asking questions about the menu, the lady staff is the worst of them all. Some items on the menu is okay taste wise, some can use more seasoning. Wings is bomb. Wont be returning to this restaurant due to staff on duty.
They need Gordon Ramsay for some Kitchen Nightmares remodeling in here. Service is SO slow (they don't check on you or refill drinks), food is simply not good (we got chicken and mahi mahi - under-seasoned, overcooked), there are flies everywhere. The mahi mahi was so bad we ordered a burger instead and it took so long we ended up leaving. One redeeming factor is the manager is really nice.
The food is decent but the bartender is very cruel and evil. He should be fired and replaced with someone else. His lack of knowledge regarding how to handle or accommodate people with disabilities is extremely disappointing.
My experience ordering food from Hill and Bay was incredibly disappointing. Despite ordering pancakes with berries, eggs and turkey sausage, and orange juice, not a single item was correct. Instead of turkey sausage, I received pork sausage, which I'm allergic to. To make matters worse, I was served half a cup of "peace" juice instead of the orange juice I requested. Even the pancakes were plain, lacking the promised berries. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with the accuracy and attention to detail of my order, and I won't be returning to this place again.
So looking forward to my meal. Chicken mash and kale. I had it months ago and it was phenomenal. Like a homemade meal. Rather quick and great flavor. Whiskey mules too. Today I went looking forward to it; empty house and it took me 30mins to get my meal which came out dry. Looks like the chucked an extra piece of chicken on it because I’m certain they forgot about it and the waiter had to expedite it. For $60 not at all worth it. That’s not including tip bc tip comes for good service and good food. I had no guilt not including that for this meal. Hesitant to go back which is unfortunate. I’ll just have to make my own gravy. Everything else it typical, hard to mess up but alas. Update: as you can see they responded… I never complained about drink prices. I asked if a whiskey mule was on the drink special and then we discussed the good price for Wednesday specials. So their passive aggressive response is crazy. I had a watch on my wrist and it took 32 minutes for a plate of chicken and mashed potatoes? Make it make sense. “Made fresh” and came out dry. Again, make it make sense. Last time I visited my meal came out much quicker. I will no longer suggest this place as I have in the past. Nor will be going back. Thought it was a good find. I was wrong.
