Good Experience with this newly opened indian food restaurant in Milpitas area. Loved the kofta. Note : It is vegetarian unlimited food. The place is small but nice ambiance. Make sure to check in your name if it is crowded. Service was nice.

After a tiring vacation, this was exactly what we were looking for – a meal that feels homely yet festive, relaxing and soul-satisfying in every sense. Royal Thaali in Milpitas delivered just that, and then some! The bright and cheerful space was bustling with families and groups, all diving into their unlimited thalis with visible delight, and we were about to join that happy brigade. What makes their thali special is how every element fits together like little pieces of a puzzle, each complementing the other so beautifully, or should I say, so tastefully. The meal began with a nicely churned and spiced buttermilk that arrived promptly, setting the tone for what was to come. As the server started filling all the little utensils on our plate, our appetite built up steadily, almost like watching a performance unfold before the main act. The kala chana masala was a pleasant surprise – usually this dish comes devoid of any gravy, but here it had this thin, soup-like consistency that was lightly spiced and tasted incredibly refreshing. It paired beautifully with the accompanying kadhi, creating a harmony that was comforting and familiar. The dry paneer curry had that rustic, dhaba-like quality with minced tomatoes and onions that took me straight back to roadside eateries on highway trips. But the show-stealer, hands down, was the aloo curry made with karela. Now, karela isn't everyone's favorite, me thinks, but the way they've incorporated it here offered a unique and pleasant bitter taste that elevated the entire dish. It was bold yet balanced, and honestly, I couldn't stop going back for more. The cabbage curry was as homely as it could be, the kind your grandmother would make on a lazy Sunday afternoon. What really impressed me was the service – the ghee-laced phulkas and masala pooris kept coming to our table piping hot, even without us asking for them. The staff was attentive and the refills came just at the right time, making the entire experience nothing short of impeccable. There's something to be said about a restaurant where the service flows so seamlessly that you barely notice it happening. And then came the desserts, which were truly the icing on the cake. The kheer arrived perfectly chilled, laced generously with kesar, and tasted phenomenal. Each spoonful was creamy, fragrant, and just the right amount of sweet. But what blew me away was the malai kalakand – easily the freshest I've had anywhere in the Bay Area. It was soft, milky, and had that melt-in-your-mouth quality that only comes from using the finest ingredients and making it fresh. All in all, Royal Thaali is something you absolutely should not miss if you're in Milpitas and around.

We've been to Royal Thaali countless times, and it's definitely our top pick for Indian thali. Our recent Friday visit for the Punjabi thali was absolutely amazing! Honestly, everything tasted incredible, all the sabzis and starters were just perfect. Last time, we savored a delicious mohanthaal, and this time, we got to enjoy gulab jamun, aamras, and gajar ka halwa. We really loved it all!

Royal Thaali really lives up to its name. The thali was a perfect mix of flavors — from the spicy curries to the sweet desserts, everything was spot on. The service was warm and welcoming, and the ambience had a lovely traditional feel. Definitely coming back!

Food: The unlimited thali is both delicious and comforting, giving off a home-cooked meal vibe. I particularly enjoyed the poori and the flavorful curries. However, the paneer curry could use a better balance, as it felt like 90% gravy and only 10% paneer. Service: The service is amazing—attentive, friendly, and quick, which adds to the dining experience. Ambience: The ambience is decent, providing a simple and comfortable setting for a relaxed meal. Royal Thaali is a great choice for those craving a wholesome, homely thali, though a bit more substance in the curries would make it even better.

One of the best Thaali experiences that I have had in the Bay area. I love the fact that it's pure vegetarian and you'll have a new experience on every visit. All thaalis are unlimited. We went for the Sunday Rajasthani special thaali that had an amazing spread which is not easily available in other restaurants. Menu keeps changing. Ours included Daal Baati, Kadhi, Bhindi Aloo, Navratna Korma, Gatte ki Sabji, Kaju Makhane ki Sabji, Fruit Cream, Moong dal Halwa, Mirchi Vada, Moongode, Jeera Rice, Masala Rice, Puri and Roti. We had a quick chat with the owner who was very courteous and went around making sure everyone was served well. I could sense her genuine enthusiasm towards customers. The space is a bit limited so it gets filled up fast. We reached between 11-11.30 am and amongst the first batch to be served. People had started lining up outside within half an hour. So plan accordingly. Edit: We also tried Punjabi Special Thaali recently on Friday evening, and it was absolutely amazing. Totally recommended. Edit 2: We got a chance to try the Gujarati thaali. Loved the Sev Tamatar Sabji the most. Updated the pictures. Check out more pictures, reels and recommendations on my Instagram food page @veggie_central

Royal Thali Restaurant is a great place to experience authentic Indian vegetarian food. I have been to this place twice in last two months and enjoyed both weekday and weekend thali. The restaurant is located in the busy plaza, parking could be challenging at times. The restaurant can accommodate about 30 guest at a time. I am very impressed with the food and service. The vegetarian thali came with a variety of dishes, including dal makhani, chana masala, paneer sabzi etc. The food was all delicious, and I especially enjoyed the dal makhani and kadhi pakora. The dal makhani was creamy and flavorful. It was great to enjoy the fresh and warm pakoda and pooris. I appreciated that the food at Thali Restaurant is made with less oil and spices than at some other Indian restaurants. This made the food feel lighter and healthier, but it didn't sacrifice any flavor. The service at Thali Restaurant was also excellent. The servers were friendly and attentive. I felt the servers were happy and proud of their work. Overall rating 5 out 5. I had a great experience at Royal Thali Restaurant. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Indian dining experience. Here are some of the things I liked most about the Restaurant: The food is like home-cooked and made with less oil and spices. The service is excellent. Friendly and welcoming staff The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere. The only thing which I felt could be improved further is the desert. The gulab jamoons were hard at the core.

I recently went to Royal Thaali Restaurant, and it was amazing! The unlimited thali they serve is absolutely delicious with a wide variety of tasty dishes. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the service was quick. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend it for anyone who loves flavorful Indian food and a good dining experience.

Food is goog but gujarati thali had many items which were not authentic gujarati taste. The daal was south Indian style and even chef didn't know if it was gujarati or not. Server said owner provides recipes. Bathroom had no soap and had cockroach. But overall food and experience is still 4 star or more if you do not mind authenticity of taste.

Good and Freshly cooked food. Thalis are unlimited. Food is never cold. Been there multiple times on weekdays for dinner and they had different menus. They update their weekly menu on their website. Servers are really nice. If it’s too crowded they might get slower since they need to take care of all the customers but they still do a decent job in managing customers. Love the price and the food. Haven’t had a chance to go on weekends when they do specials. Never had issue with free parking but I have only been there during weekdays.

I was a bit wary coming here after reading some reviews, but we were in the area and thought we'd give it a try. For my wife and I it was overall nice stop for food. The Thali was ~$25 per person (which is more on the pricy side). It was "all you can eat". The food was actually pretty filling, did not eat as much as I thought I was going to. The food was fine, a little on the bland side and likely used the same base for many of the items so there was not a great variety of flavors, but it was fresh. Service was fine and the restaurant was clean and tidy when we visited. We were surprised it was not very busy on a Friday night. Parking can be tight on a busy evening. Would have been nice to have chai at the end of the meal but did not seem to have that item.

Punjabi thali was great. Best part of the food is freshly made puri, bharure and roti. Among curries chole, paneer tikka masala and, khaki were great. Carrot halwa is a must try. The price for thali is little expensive.

If you are looking for an authentic and abundant Indian dining experience in the Bay Area, look no further than Royal Thali in Milpitas. We recently visited and treated ourselves to the Rajasthani Thali, and it was absolutely magnificent—a true culinary journey through the flavors of Rajasthan

Small Indian vegitarian restaurant in Milpitas. It only has one item and it is unlimited thali. It consist of variety of small dishes like bento box. It was interesting as this was the first time I experience it and also experience fully vegiterian Indian cuisine The food is yummy and service is good. Thexserver constantly come over to check if we need more dishes. Nice lunch with friends

Eating at this place is like being invited to a gracious host’s place for a meal. The only drawback was the wait, but it was a weekend , and waiting did make the eating experience more enjoyable. The thali included rice, puri, roti, khichdi , dal, pakora, paneer, kofta, dhokla, mithai, kaanji, salad, and shrikhand. The paneer was creamy and delicious, and the soft rotis were smeared with ghee. I loved the platter! The food was wholesome, and the servers did their best to provide a positive experience

Royal Thaali is a shiny NEW venue to the South Bay Thali scene. I think they opened their doors last month (July 2023) Shiny, sparkling, cozy, clean and inviting venue, brightly lit with a decent amount of seating. The staff is friendly as well. They seem very easy going and helpful. The food was excellent! Everything tasted like a home cooked meal...grandma in the back whipping up some delish meals?? #delishThaali: ~ Thaali - 4.5/5 Everything was very tasty. Although I'm not sure what everything was. I do wish there was some sort of guide or chart that specifically labeled every dish. I did recognize some of the dishes. My favorite was the Paneer followed by the Eggplant. No meat here for those that are wondering... Fairly simple formula: one price for the the Thaali and you can purchase drinks. Watch out for the service charge and tip accordingly...

Been here multiple times but most recently went for lunch on a Saturday and to our surprise, the wait was just 5 mins. Usually the place is packed but there was only one other party waiting other than us. The dining area is small and not the best in terms of cleanliness but they have defenitely worked on it over time. The service is great and they frequently attend to you to serve the different items on the menu for the day. The food usually tastes good but we always end up feeling full just after a few bites.

Went in before the rush soon after they open and found a table. Ordered weekend special unlimited thaali. They started serving after 10 minutes. Rotating servers bring different items. Kachori wasn’t fried properly. Gatta sabji was more like gatta kadi. There was also a plain kadi. Jalebi was cold. All curries were mild and taste was mediocre. Daal was tasty but baati was hard inside. Overall not worth the price and not anywhere close to authentic taste.

This used to be a great place. But now it has become an average restaurant with slow service. This is a name only unlimited thaali restaurant, I asked for the dishes more than 3-4 times and it wasn’t crowded. I wish they improve and become better. I would rather go to other unlimited thaali restaurant.

Tejaswi Raj

Not very good for 28$+ for a meal! They serve 3-4 curries with rice, kichdi, roti and poori and sweets. The quantity of the curries served is very less. The starters were really tiny small. I noticed that they didn't serve us dokhla when everyone else was! The tables are really small and it's hard to dine well in this cozy restaurant. I would suggest sakoon (even for vegetarians) or deede's over this.

Suhas madhugiri

Nothing Royal about it. Food taste was just average. Menu lacked basic understanding of thali food culture. No papad, no salad, no dryfruit in just single sweet ( rice kheer) not even cardamom. No curd item.

Niti Shah

Horrible experience. The condiments placed on the table had fungus on it. The weekend price was $25.00 which had 5-6 items. The other customers were complaining about the service and food and the waiter attitudinally said "we can't make everyone happy". The servers had attitude and the service was horrible. The food tasted horrible. Please AVOID the restaurant. Please go to other restaurants for much better quality and it will be worth the price you pay.
