I’m obsessed with Phoenix Cafe! The food is all organic and farm to table, sourced from the local farms in the area. Everything is SO good and the staff is so kind. I’ve been coming here everyday while I’ve been in Arcata and don’t regret a minute of it

Such tasty food, fresh! and vegan/vegetarian friendly- in preparation too! They make their own vegan milks and their treats and warm drinks are divine. Thanks to Izzy and the other employees at the desk- they made us feel very comfortable to order the food- they are careful about cross contamination if you let them know. Their bowl was very tasty and the cookies too! Special shoutout to your young workers at the front! It made us want to eat there despite being worried about the options. :)

Would I eat there again? Absolutely. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito and it was phenomenal. It seemed expensive until our food came out and the portions were ample.

Great farm fresh breakfast! Two perfectly poached eggs with grilled vegetables and a side salad with pickles onions! I absolutely appreciate their commitment to local and organic food! Housemade cashew and almond milks are a gigantic bonus! Skip the espresso drinks here and go for one of their specialty tea latte creations! Good fast service! I would have loved it if the heat was on but it seems all the Arcata shops don’t do much to keep customers warm. Adding on next visit: You had me at Organic food & dog friendly patio! I’ve ate here multiple times now and every 👏🏼 single 👏🏼 time 👏🏼 it’s on point and delicious. Great service, which is a huge bonus in these times! Farm fresh, organic produce! I LOVE their maca matcha latte, chai latte and the house-made nut milks! The Hash is filling and tasty. I often have one if their daily specials! Go here if you’re hungry, even when it’s crowded, the goes fast and the food is surprisingly quick to be delivered. Love this place!!

Cafe Phoenix offers high quality food, wonderful ambiance and very friendly service. My partner and I had an absolutely amazing meal here and we want to give a HUGE shoutout to chef Michael. He was extremely welcoming and the food was top notch. The garden back patio was so pleasant and this is hands down our new favorite restaurant in Arcata. Looking forward to eating here again soon.

Update: had break here recently and it was absolutely delicious. I’m all about how the dish is plated and they killed! Who ever the chef is they have quite the eye for food art! My mom had the omelet special and I have the glorified grilled cheese. The potatoes with the omelet were soooo good! However I think the grilled cheese would have been so much better if the geese was actually melted but it was still good more like a cheese sandwich. I’ll be returning to try the grilled cheese again but I will be asking for them to fully melt the cheese, I’m looking forward to it.

2/14/25 Came back for more and it was amazing! We tried the tri tip plate which came with fresh green salad, pesto pasta, and cornbread, as well as the loaded baked potato. It was amazing! All of it was cooked to perfection with flavorful sauce and dressing. We will be back, Cafe Phoenix & Smoked Backyard BBQ! :) 1/2015 We have eaten at Cafe Phx many many times and looove their food. Always delicious, fresh, and healthy. This was our first time try Smoked and the riblets were amazing!!! So good that we wanted to order them again tonight but they are closed til the weekend so we will have to wait. They have amazing outdoor patio seating and said they will be getting heaters soon so let the outdoor dinner parties commence! This is something you don’t want to miss!

Great food, I ordered the French toast brioche bread made with vanilla custard, topped with whipped cream, and fresh fruit--strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, peaches, and figs. Also had a 4 person band playing blues, which added to the outdoor seating.

I LOVE Cafe Phoenix, but my last food experience there was a little bit odd. I ordered their huevos rancheros, because I love huevos rancheros and I've loved everything I've ordered over the years from them. I guess I'm just thrown off by the presentation/composition of their dish. It arrived in a shallow bowl as what I can only describe as bean soup, with a pan fried tortilla at the bottom and fried eggs on top. It tasted great, so if it sounds appetizing, I won't discourage anyone from ordering it, but guys.... guuuys that's not huevos rancheros. That's bean and kale soup.

Cafe Phoenix has been an Arcata staple for many many years. This women owned cafe is one of the best places to eat in Humboldt. The atmosphere is great and cozy on a rainy winter day and especially nice on the back patio or in the yard while the sun is out. Their food is all organic, and much of it is sourced from local farmers and butchers. The food is good for the gut. And the owner’s recipes are original and tasty. My go-to dishes are the fried rice, the breakfast burrito, many different smoothies, and Phoenix potatoes. Occasionally the potatoes have been burnt and I too have experienced some dishes being over salted like other reviewers have complained about, but that’s not consistent enough to steer you away. The new addition of, Smoked is too recent to give a solid review, but it seems to have potential. Glad we have Cafe Phoenix in our little town to rely on.

Pretty garden, beautiful presentation, friendly staff. But the food all tasted the same. I had the eggs Benedict with gf bread, salad and potatoes. The chef used the same spice (tarragon?) in all of the things I tried. Even my husband’s French onion soup. The coconut milk latte was very weak ☹️ A shame because I was hoping this place would become a regular. Probably won’t be going back.

Plate of breakfast was about $30, which is fine but they ruined the poached eggs. They took the whole plate and by the time it was returned with new eggs the rest of the food had gone cold. They don't have full table service, which I would expect for the prices they charge.

It’s so weird to walk into a place, have the staff look right at you, then ignore you and go back to chat’n with their co-worker. Like actually stop their convo, look at you, and be like, “Eh, you’re not worth greeting.” I stood there awkwardly for a minute before asking if Im supposed to seat myself or order at the counter. Girl said, “menus are in that box right there” and pointed to an empty box. Hahaha. I looked at a menu on a wall, it had hardly any vegetarian options which was odd for an organic place, and the menu didnt seem to match what i had looked up online. Overall it was just a bad vibe. I didnt get the sense they wanted me there so I just left and went to the Vietnamese place next door. Staff there was super welcoming, they had some great vegetarian options. The smoked tofu bahn mi sandwich was fantastic!

Quality/price ratio is way off. Their ingredients are mid to low quality but pricing reflects organic and well sourced ingredients. They use seed oils to cook with 🤮 and charge extra to swap seed oils out with butter even though their sign says happy to accommodate food intolerances. Food taste was alright. Definitely not 25$+ a plate worth. Dont get me wrong im all for paying for good food. This place just needs to reevaluate their quality/cost ratio. Poorly trained college staff that doesnt seem to care. Also at 60$ for a meal i would expect staff to wait on your table. NOPE they was you to buss everything yourself😂 will not come back. Go to cafe brio down the street instead! Better quality, fair cost, and their staff is much friendlier!!
