Came here a year ago on a whim and the Huckleberry donuts changed our lives. Now, back in town for less than 12 hours and had to come back for more!

I just had breakfast here with my girlfriend, and we're both stuffed! She got the Trainwreck Burrito vegan style with a vegan donut and I got the two-egg breakfast with a half order of biscuits and gravy and a side of sausage. I got my two-egg breakfast scrambled with white toast and hash browns. We were both impressed by the portion sizes and the taste was AMAZING! We've been to a lot of breakfast places up here and this is BY FAR the best breakfast food we've had in a while. I had my favorite spot that I thought was good, but the second I had a bite of the biscuits and gravy I knew this place had them beat. If you're looking for a place with a good breakfast menu that has some decent vegan options as well, this is your place to go to! They also have a lunch menu and mimosas, but we'll have to try those some other time! Thanks McIntosh Country Store for such a great start to our day!

While we were waiting for our tire patch work across the street in the morning, we had breakfast here, taste so good! Had the best meal during our road trip, omelet and wraps are awesome, above 80% to the restaurant we've been to, recommend!

What an amazing store and the food is spectacular. If you like historical photos, you gotta come here.

Literally the quickest restaurant food I've ever had. And to boot it's EXCELLENT 👌 food. Got the breakfast burrito (wrap) and french toast. Will definitely be back

hands down the best spot to eat in arcata. everytime I eat here im surprised at just how delicious the food is. feels like family soul food, and the specials never cease to amaze. their pulled pork sandwich is a staple. today their special was a carnitas torta, and I’ve never had something better for breakfast. truly a gem of a place, best service and finger lickin good food

We visited for breakfast on Valentine's Day. The breakfast was hot and delicious. Made exactly as ordered. We enjoyed all the family history on the walls! What a collection and a treasure for Clay and his family. Ditto on the donuts from all the other reviews. Best we have had. We will go back! Thank you Clay.

Amazing food, great prices and excellent service! We had the egg muffin sandwich, one with bacon and scrambled egg, one with sausage and fried egg, both so yummy. Also, the fresh squeezed orange juice hit the spot! The food came out fast too, hot and fresh. Highly recommended! Looking forward to trying their chicken fried steak and gravy or their Train wreck burrito next time.

It’s some of the best food in Arcata! Amazing breakfasts! Esp eggs, omelettes!

Came here for breakfast 6/6/24, got the breakfast burrito and it was huge. We easily split it between the two of us also shared with our two year old. They have delicious homemade donuts! So many to choose from. Also in the corner was a kids kitchen play area! This was a huge hit for our little one. The owner was walking around asking people how everything was and giving the story about the pictures on the wall. Definitely a feel good home environment.

This place is awesome. The entire staff was extremely nice and welcoming. The food was top notch! I was told you can’t go wrong with what you order, but we loved our smoked chicken biscuits and gravy, veggie eggs benedict, cinnamon waffle with farm fresh pears, and DONUTS. Super shocked at the quality of the food. Lots of care and love goes into what they do, and it shows. Donuts were better than a top rated place we stopped at in Seattle yesterday

Really great food—some of the best biscuits and gravy in Arcata! I love the wall of family photos and history. The staff is friendly, and it's also a good spot for grab-and-go if it’s not too busy.

Hands down the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend. Service was fast, staff was incredibly kind and overall it was just a lovely experience.

Not often do I give a full 5-star across the board, and this place is worth that. Staff remains a delight every time I visit. The food is delicious, especially their French toast and breakfast burritos. Are you looking for fresh squeezed orange juice with your meal? Look no further. Every item on their menu is made with quality ingredients and menu items that are made from the ground up, I'm looking at you fresh baked rolls. There are very few places I would feel comfortable ordering food and then working from a laptop or reading a book. The wide open concept with local farmer sales make this space feel like you're stepping a bit into the past while keeping you warm from the idilic humboldt cold. Stop by and grab a fresh donut. Grab my favorite orange juice or a mimosa (the flavors are delicious and unique in the best way).

K

Oh my. We have a new favorite breakfast spot, and a new problem. The biscuits and gravy were good enough to write home about, and 100% home made. The train wreck sounded interesting, and it was. All sorts of meat, cheese, hash browns all packed together into a burrito big enough that you can imagine whoever made it just forgot the size of a person and the normal amount of food one can eat. Oh, and they have fresh squeezed orange juice. Plus, the coffee selection is top notch. If we were not completely destroyed by trying to finish half of our breakfast, we would try the home made sticky buns, also. Next time!

A
Allyson Boltzen

Great customer service from a pleasant staff. A small, family business with an amazing, "tastes like home" menu. Freshly squeezed orange juice, bomb biscuits and gravy, and ask about their candied bacon (it's the best)! Prices can be on the expensive side though, and occasionally your egg muffin might not come out perfect. But trust me..worth it. Especially their donuts: home made and fresh every morning!

F

Lots of tasty things to eat at this place! We were in town for 2 days, discovered it the first day. We liked it so much we came back the next morning! Everything has that homemade, down home cooking taste and feel to it. Donuts are exceptional and come in some different flavors such as huckleberry or brown-butter caramel. Chorizo burrito is really good too. Beware it is a whole lotta burrito!

S

Great breakfast! I got pancakes as well as hash browns, toast, bacon, and eggs. We also got a cinnamon and sugar doughnut which we ate while our order was prepared, and we went back to get three more! They are SO good! Highly recommend.

Delicious fresh food. We got a custom salad and the egg McMuffin and fresh OJ and everything thing was fantastic. Everything was prepped fresh with amazing ingredients and came quick. Will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes. Super friendly service as well.

Super yummy! Coffee on point! We had never been here but knew instantly by looking at the secret menu board what we wanted and it was super good and served within minutes of sitting down! Went from starving to satisfied and will likely be getting some biscuits and muffins to go cause these folks got their breakfast game dialed in! Thanks!!!-the canadian

You are treated like family and my small dog was welcomed. Food is delish, donuts are OUT OF THIS WORLD DEVINE! Need to get there early for a great selection of homemade donuts: berries, bacon topped Carmel, bacon topped filled apple donuts😋, some gluten free. They are beautiful to look at & incredible to eat! Coffee is Muddy Waters, got me hooked on the local brand.

Was told to come here by a local (I am a tourist) and was happy we came! The staff and owner were so friendly and they got our food RIGHT OUT. It was tasty, and kept us full for hours. They did great. Would go back for sure.

We stopped in on our way to the Redwoods for breakfast. All I can say is wow. The food was excellent, the donuts were delicious, and the drinks were top notch. Service was friendly and pretty fast. If you are on your way through here, their brunch and mimosas are worth the stop!

Great place for lunch, wraps, burgers with local grass fed beef, tri tip sandwiches, burritos, and they make their own chorizo. Indoor and outdoor seating. Cool family historic photos. Local honey, and cool brooms. Next time I want to try their maple donut filled with apples

MFCS is a good place to gather with your people and eat some amazing food! Farm to table, everything is fresh and made in house. The staff is awesome and super friendly and helpful, they treat you like family. Everything on their menu is good. If you are a local or passing through experience it for yourself. Home of the famous Trainwreck burrito.

Biscuits and sausage gravy. It's one of those comfort dishes that can have so many takes on it. This one is worth the stop and well worth the price. Fresh biscuits, delicious sausage chunks, smooth and flavorful gravy. The perfect take on this classic dish. Combine it with a friendly staff, cozy and unique store setting, and other delicious breakfast offerings (such as fresh baked pastries) and this is certainly worth the stop if you are coming through this area. Small parking area so those with an RV or travel trailer, you'll be parking and walking (but it's worth it).

A MUST TRY. I am not a local, but this place does hearty, home style, american food with love. The young guy at the cashier working on saturday morning is fun and the food is phenomenal here. I highly recommend getting a donut (they are quite unique and have this delicious doughy, old fashioned donut flavored that you just don’t find nowadays. The typical menu has a limited selection, but on their chalkboard they have a “secret menu” and many other food options there. If you enjoy meat, I would highly recommend the country fried steak, it’s insanely tender and is smothered in hearty gravy (that had bits of meat throughout). you get it with a large golden brown hash brown, 2 eggs and 2 slices of bread. They have many coffee options, and sell a variety of local items (such as honey) too. it’s a cool store, that offers both dine in and take out. The lines can pick up quick but this place will certainly have me day dreaming about their food.

Delicious food! Loved every dish. The trainwreck burrito was my favorite. It was huge and very filling, made it into two meals. There was an even bigger burrito which I'm sure would've been huge. The biscuits and gravy were the best I've ever had, very flavorful. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and light. The cornbeef hash was somewhat bland but paring it with one of their many hot sauces did the trick. The matcha drink was perfect. Lemonade was fresh. The food was made very quickly too. Was was really nice. In the restaurant you pay and then sit. After you get the food the waiter doesnt come much but you can always get their attention. I would definitely come here again and recommend this place.

Came here for a couple of donuts and milk after seeing reviews online. The cashier/server was very nice, and the donuts were rich, but delicious. I wasn't prepared to pay almost $11 for two donuts and a milk, but after eating them, I can see why. They are very high quality with fresh ingredients. One donut for breakfast is enough, as I had to save the second one for the next day in my hotel room, and it was still really fresh. So due to the high quality donuts that they were, I can see why they cost more. I will be back to enjoy them again sometime soon.

Awesome country store with delicious food on offer. We ordered the massive tri-tip burrito and a sausage and egg sandwich. Outstanding food. I went back in for the brown butter caramel glazed yeast donut, and would have eaten 3 more. Cool atmosphere. The owner was very engaging. Staff was all smiles. Great place.

These donuts are probably in the top 5 donuts I've ever had and I seek out donuts wherever I go. My husband and I shared Browned Butter Caramel, Pineapple Guava, Raspberry, and Huckleberry Donuts. They were all fantastic. You really can't go wrong, but the berry ones were my favorite. The Pineapple Guava was a unique flavor that I enjoyed. The caramel was my least favorite, but I still enjoyed it. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be back!

Loveeee this place, cannot speak more highly of it! Always great energy with the staff despite being busy much of the time. Their food is definitely made with love. The food is great, service is fast. ( A couple cafes here take forever to prepare food). You have to try their donut. Never had donut before that the outside is a little crunchy. The weird thing is their menu layout. They have their regular menu next to their cashier and a BIG special menu on the board. Didn't know they have a regular cheaper menu until after I ordered🙄

Upsides: Amazingly flavorful food, happy friendly staff, efficient service. Downsides: no internet ("we're old school") but they blasted degenerate hypersexualized hip-hop music, so reconcile that for me please. Because of both of the cons, this would be a "no" in the future. Sorry, McIntosh!

Everytime I come here the food and the awesome staff never change. I really like a good corn beef hash not out of a can with some eggs over easy. Love the different flavored mimosas. The breakfast Sammy's are a hit as well.

Food was not good at all, we had the country fried Steak, it was cold, refried; and served To us within less than 2 minutes. Bread was not toasted, and also had the chicken and waffles, and the waffle was soggy and the chicken was frozen and refried with 0 seasoning. This place should be called soggy Flavorless Dingleberry. The cashier was very nice giving us a refund, horrible food.

Place used to be good but is now super sub par portions are smaller and quality is lower came here for years but its just not worth my time or money anymore neglectful management clearly they got too comfortable employees are often dirty or stinky food is safe to eat just poor quality eggs are dead and small they were fluffy and vibrant before now they are almost grey definitely bad management they must have thought they knew better than the cooks or chef or maybe the chef relies too heavily on the line cooks who are often kids
