We had such a great experience at Il Podestá! The location is amazing — just around the corner from the Duomo in Asti — and the restaurant itself is set in a beautiful cellar with high, vaulted ceilings that create a really special atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that feels cozy and elegant at the same time. The food was absolutely fantastic. We shared a variety of antipasti, primi piatti, secondi piatti, and of course, dolce. Every single dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality and care that goes into the cooking. The service was also excellent — friendly, professional, and perfectly paced so we could relax and enjoy our evening. We all left very happy and satisfied. It’s clear that the team at Il Podestá truly cares about offering a great dining experience from start to finish. If you’re visiting Asti and looking for a place with amazing food, great atmosphere, and lovely service, we can wholeheartedly recommend Il Podestá. We’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in town!

Lovely Italian restaurant in a cellar. Beautiful surroundings and service minded staff. Local food and wine made this a great place for a double date. They serve Caldera wine, produced right outside of Asti. Excellent wine, BTW! Enjoy!
You can find a mixed crowd here. From the Asti family with kids to the German tourist group. Nevertheless the kitchen is performing with excellence regional traditional recipes. Service is great Emanuela is leading the room with expertise and knowledge.

One of the things I have overlooked during my first day in Asti is to make dinner reservation plans at any of its charming establishments serving local piemontese food and their ubiquitous local wines. I found it much to my chagrin that every restaurant in town has been fully booked that first evening. Well almost, 😅. So, determined not to risk missing dinner in one of the gourmand cities of Italy, I managed to secure a dinner reservation at this charming restaurant on my last evening in Asti. The service staff welcomed us with their impeccable hospitality. The staff also took extra care to fully understand our requests and also made efforts to express themselves as clearly as they could which is much appreciated. The cellar-like ambience is very apt for a traditional piemontese wine & dine experience. The dinner itself was simple piemontese fare with suggested local wines pairing. All in all, a very wonderful dining experience here ! Highly recommended and reservations are essential! 😁 Grazie Mille!
The spaces are cut above most restaurants in northern Italy. Atmosphere was super cool with lots of exposed brick and arches. Service was really good and snappy. Our server really knew what she was talking about with the wine. We have a lot of experience with Italian wine and she was able to fill in some gaps that we didn’t know about. food was delicious. Our only regret was that we didn’t have time for dessert.

Excellent dining in this ancient cellar. Great atmosphere, excellent and friendly service and some really good menu. We enjoyed the saffron seafood pasta, veal “reale”, the 63 degrees eggs and an amazing pulpit dish. A real treat. Thank you

This was the best food we have eaten in Piedmont Italy. From appetizers to pastas and desserts (each a work of art) tutto era perfetto - everything was perfect and delicious. If you are in Asti this is a MUST HAVE lunch / dinner.
Amazing dinner at Osteria Podestà! The pasta course was the best in the area! The owners Bruno and his wife were wonderful and very friendly. The wine list was huge with great value and Bruno helped us pick out an amazing Barolo. Bravo!
Very good restaurant. Awesome decor in the cellar which gives you the feeling of being inside a castle. The food was very tasty and it all was from the Piedmontese kitchen.

Great italian food with a modern twist to bring something extra. Presented well and delicious. We sat outside which was great but the interior is something else.

Beautiful setting in a stone vaulted cellar. Food was excellent, perfectly cooked. Some interesting taste combinations. Portions are on the small side so you will probably need at least 3 courses to feel satisfied. The wine list is comprehensive and the wines by the glass are well chosen.

We walked by and saw the Piemontese Tartar served, that looked tasty. So we decided to have a small lunch on a Sunday before driving home. Carne Cruda (Tartar) was very tasty, I decided to go for the home made Spaghetti alla Chitarra. The size was small compared to the tartar and for pasta in general. Size was the same as it would been served with a five course menu. Nice atmosphere outside in the shade.

+ City center - the food was tasteless (need a lot of additional salt, pepper, lemon, oil) - a bit overpriced - I felt like they just wanted my money - the wine was warm, and when I mentioned this, the response was "this is how we serve (room temperature)" [super if the room has 28’C] (I leaved the second plate on the table.) Overall: I don’t think to coming back.
