The Benson Burgers are always good..it is an easy stop on my way home when I've had a hard day at work and don't want to go home and cook dinner..

The avalanches were very good. They had a lot of mix-ins through the entire treat. You can also mix 2 mix ins for an avalanche.

Benson's is an established fast food restaurant that has been here for years, located south of the courthouse square. Can't beat this place for a quick and delicious burger or chicken finger basket. We also like to order ice cream mixed with heath or butterfinger bar crumbles. Think DQ and you probably have Benson's down pat. Good eats, reasonable prices. A great stop for a burger, chicken strips, steak fingers, and malts/shakes.

If you like DQ, Benson's is similar, but with a more local feel. Their service was excellent and atmosphere pleasant.

We eat at Benson's quite often, we like several items and have had good experience every time. Hamburgers are good, I want to try the BLT soon

Very much like Dairy Queen but a pinch better,plus they have these horror collectable stickers you can get out the sticker machine, I LOVE this place deffently 5 Stars

How many of you remember J and Barbara Benson and the wonderful food they served us years ago. Benson's Eats and Treats in Athens have the same good tasting food. I absolutely love the crispy chicken salads with honey mustard dressing. I start eating the salad even before I put the dressing on it. It's so good. Buffy, I just want to say, Thank you and your employees for serving us still today 2020 (Good Tasting Food!!)

Benson’s is one of the best places to eat in Athens! It’s comfort food at its’ best! They have juicy hamburgers, onion rings, nachos, tacos and the list goes on and on. If you want to add something, just ask them! Buffy the owner is a good ol’ hometown girl ~ her Daddy used to own the Dairy Queen’s here.

Friendly staff , clean, quiet and peaceful atmosphere, variety of desert the front counter personnel was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu and prices no matter what time of day or night I go in the staff is always nice and I notice communication between the front counter and cooks which is a very good thing the lady and man cooking was communication very well also I would highly recommend eating at BENSON'S EATS AND TREATS

This place is a hidden gem food great the people are people I would hire on spot! Great at their job! They did perfect every time! Please tip them they work hard quick and are sweet and good at their job! Its down the street from our new apartment! We just moved to town and will be back for sure! Very clean everywhere! To the owner you got some good workers! The down side I would only say the floors person presentation of the staff and parking is kind confusing you could mess your car up quick if you don't look at what your doing! No mattewe will be back! Clapping hands! Good job guys! Get er done!

We stopped in last night..The staff was so friendly and they were young. We ordered our food. And the y have a drive thru that's needs were being taken care of. I will say there was a little wait on food but we ordered Fried stuff. When they brought it out to the table it looked BEAUTIFUL, Every item was fresh and HOT, and it was delicious, WELL WORTH waiting a little on. The Owner "Buffy" came over to the table and greeted us and was extremely nice!!!! Was great being treated warmly. The food menu looks like Diary Queens but the taste and quality and Size far exceeds any dairy queen I've ever been too. Love this place and all who work there!!! Thank yall.... I actually went through the drive-through and ordered. The service was excellent. The BLT fries and chocolate shake were delicious. Best BLT I’ve had in a very, very long time.

On our way home from a camping trip, we found Benson's in Athens TX doing a Google search. Gave it a try and were very pleasantly surprised. Wife had the chicken strip basket with curly fries and I had spices hornet burger which came on a fresh jalapeño bun that was off the chart great and waffle fries, which were crispy on the outside but still moist on the inside. The staff was very friendly and offered suggestions. I'd highly recommend if you are looking for good home style fast food.

Came in and got a sundae and a slush for only $5 and the whole crew was super nice and so were the customers! Great atmosphere and the manager even came and talked with us and was very kind. It's like Dairy Queen got an upgrade. Visiting from north Houston for a chicken show. Stopped in for dinner and dessert. There are differences between this and Dairy Queen, not one of them negative. 1. The food is fresh and high-quality. The beef patty was so much better than d. 2. They use a higher fat content recipe in their ice cream leading to a creamier, richer, flavor. 3. It's clean! No sticky tables or rotten filth smell.

The staff were very friendly and the owner took time to share some of the restaurant and town history with me. I had the hornet stinger burger with onion rings. The burger had the perfect amount of heat balanced with a ton of flavor. It was the best burger I’ve had in quite a while! The onion rings were spot on as well. It was a good value for great food!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Full disclosure, I met the owner of this place at church but I set that aside to be able to be objective about this place, so here goes... Bensons is freaking amazingly good! I had a chicken sandwich with a cherry shake and my wife had a burger with a strawberry shake and we were definitely impressed! The staff was outstanding and they had no idea we knew the owner from church (she wasn't there that day) and their friendly welcoming demeanor was the same no matter who walked in the door! My shake had real cherries in it, none of that almost cough syrup flavor you sometimes get and my wife's shake was amazing as well! The food was fresh and amazing as well, I have a video of the steam still coming off my sandwich and the curly fries are awesome! Now the critiques: When you go (and you for SURE want to go) be careful about parking in the spaces directly in front of the building, traffic can get a bit crazy. And that's really the only critique we had and that's nothing! Overall, Benson's is the epitome of that hole in the wall hidden gem just waiting to be discovered... So go discover it! You won't regret it and we will for sure be back!

The food is amazing! We got 3 meals and 2 large desserts for under $50 too. Ask for the extended menu and the list goes on! Better than any commercial fast food restaurant which you can tell just by the taste that more thought and customization goes into the food that is made. I am in love with the Hornet Stinger burger here and stop almost every week after the farmers market to get one on my way home. If you have not tried it you are missing out! Best burger I have ever tasted. Of course the addition of an Avalanche is usually a needed bonus as well.

Imagine the dairy queen menu... But cheaper and tastes better. Got a dipped cone and cheeseburger with tots and tea. Chocolate actually tasted like chocolate! Fast, friendly, and cheap. I'll be back for sure.

I like this place and used to give them quite a bit of business but they have simply priced themselves out of what they are, I can feed my family at just about any other burger joint in town for same or in most cases less money and better quality. It’s a knockoff DQ, shouldn’t be Whataburger prices

If you want fast food that isn't a nationally branded company with an authentic 90s/early 2000s aesthetic. Benson's fits the description! The moment you see the menu, yes. It looks that a copy and paste from another fast food joint. Maybe even the burgers as well, but I recommend the hornets hot burger. Definitely athens authenticity. Loved the staff there, made me feel like I was living a rerun of the good burgers movie🤣 All and all, great prices for meals and shakes, reasonably paced service, worth the wait! Planning to comeback again soon!

Not too shabby! You can't beat it as far as price, variety, and quality go, but make sure your to-go orders are right. They mess up sometimes, but it's not often and they usually aren't big mistakes. Friendly staff. We usually get take-out, so I can't tell you much about inside dining. We used to eat inside occasionally pre-covid, but now we're hermits and scurry away to eat far away from everyone else. Great for a quick bite and they have a lovely selection on fried potatoes. I love them for that.

The food was fantastic. The fries were incredibly fresh and well seasoned, The burger was one of the best I ever had outside of a family cookout, and the coke mix had just the right amount of syrup and carbonation, one of the best I've ever gotten from an establishment. My only complaint is that drive-through speaker has aged a bit and so it's hard to hear and some things were missed. Such as a order of onion rings was instead a fry, and both bugers were supposed to have no mayonnaise and they did. Other than that the food quality is fantastic, the drive-thru service was respectable, and I can't wait to try inside dining again next time. It was great to see how good the food still is, seeing how it's been a decade since I've eaten there with my late great aunt.

The soda machine is set at lowest level for syrup . The soda is horrible here . Don't waste your money , tea is good plus the food . But the soda taste like soda water on all soda flavors!

Burger Pattie’s are frozen. Came from out of town and wanted a homemade burger, service was slow, people were friendly though.

30 minute wait for a 6 piece chicken strip meal and chicken sandwich in the drive thru. Communication not good with staff as seemed to have confusion about our order. Food was well cooked when we finally received it and did get what we ordered. Perhaps caught them on a bad day, but was not desirable for someone who had a toddler and 8 year old in car waiting for food and to get out of car and back home.

It was, ...... "Ok",. But,. Not great. The food wasn't anything special, ... There was really nothing about the place that stood out. The help seemed distant and preoccupied. They did have some good looking houseplants outside, which it had recently rained, but the plants inside were wilting and depressing. All in all,I can't say that I would be in Any great hurry to return there. I dislike giving poor reviews, and I really try not to, but this is the best I could do.

I’ve been 3 times and the first time everything was amazing, the second time they forgot my fries but the food itself was still pretty good. This third time they knowingly gave me a bad milkshake. As the manager and two other workers tasted the icecream, discussed it tasting weird and determined to still make my shake but not make anymore. The shake was sour tasting. Disappointed with the inconsistency since the first time it was so good.

The food is about average, and hasn't changed much since it was a Dairy Queen. The service is the same, not terrible but not quite exceptional. The atmosphere of the place, however, is depressing. Nobody smiles, and looking outside on a vacant lot which used to hold a play area for kids is a bit like looking at a copy of your favorite movie on VHS cassette: empty and useless.

This is a mom and pop version of a Dairy Queen. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's in an old Dairy Queen building. The food took a while to be prepared, but it was hot when we got it. The flavor was enjoyable. The staff in the drive-thru appeared to be high school students and were very friendly but less than professional.

I quite liked the food here, as I had passed by multiple times before finally deciding to try it out. Only complaints I have was about the precision of the order and the wait time. While I might understand messing up an order to get customers through the line, 20 minutes for a cheeseburger, drink, and onion rings is a bit absurd.

Second time coming here. The first time i visited and the ice cream portions were huge!! This time rinky dink portions. Really dissapointed. Got a vanilla cup for my dog and turtle sundae for me. Got a small for the pup and medium for me. Sonic gives me a huge portion for a small for my dog. My turtle sundae was the same size as the small vanilla cup they gave my pup. Very nice staff though.

Tried it today for the first time, drove down from Chandler, was not worth the 40min drive and won't be back. Folk were friendly, and we were the only customers and the order not right. No tomato on my burger and meat was very dry, sweet potato fries were overcooked, given 1 napkin for 2 of us, and forgot my milkshake. I own a diner and definitely not impressed, and extremely disappointed, I expected much better!

Went to drive thru placed order then drove to pick-up window. They brought food out back door and gave it to someone else. When I asked where my food was told gave it to a black car I was in a white car. They never did come to the window. Worst service ever. Food was not that great once I did get it. Chicken strip basket and a barbecue sandwich which appeared to be from a can.

Ordered 2 burgers, #1 combos, one with cheese one without. Both had cheese. Burgers were served almost as fast as we sat down. Barely warm! Didnt taste done! Great customer service. Young lady was upbeat.

There was one car in front of me, I ordered a BLT and a drink and was told to pull to the back door (around the car in front of me) for it to be brought out. ’ve been sitting here for over 20 minutes. How long does it take to slap two pieces of bacon on toast and add lettuce/tomato when it’s not busy at all? About to leave despite paying.

Waited 30 min on 3 orders of chicken and dumplings. Finally ask for money back and went dairy queen which by the time I got to window my order was ready to go. Plus the serving are twice the size. .

10 minute wait for an unsweet tea. Sat & watched 2 cashier's chat with each other instead of running my card & giving me my tea. Thankful for the gentleman that finally took care of me & the car ahead.

If you're in Athens Texas drive on by this establishment. Terrible place, poorly ran. When you leave a comment on their Facebook page about how they conduct business, they don't address it, they just delete it. They let employees off the clock stroll in and make drinks and touch everything without even washing their hands. Rude employees acting like children act inconvenienced by you trying to order food. Expect a long wait for mediocre food by fast food standards if you're not ran off by how they don't practice proper food handling. Mr Benson that ran DQ in Athens for many years would be embarrassed of how they are disgracing his name. Zero stars.

Took them 24 minutes to make 2 Taco Salads. The day before my Avalanche was like 3/4 of a cup of ice cream. It was like OMG give me a straw to eat this with because it is so thin. They have really gone down hill. Not only in service but also in quality. .

Most times the food is good but tonight's meal was less than exceptable. They need better night management, that makes sure your orders are right fresh and hot. I will keep my food orders to daytime shift.

Went through the drive thru and ordered a burger, fries, chicken strip basket, and crispy chicken sandwich. We waited 25 minutes and the food still wasn't ready. There was people who ordered chicken AFTER us that got their food first. Got a refund and went somewhere else. Never again will I go back.

The people are nice. The time it takes to get your food is ridiculous. I'm typing this as I'm sitting in the drive thru. Not an exaggeration I've been in line for 20 minutes. They might have forgotten I was even at their second window.

I am sharing this from a friends experience today. Benson in Athens Tx has the worst customer service ever. Thanks to Ms. Trinity and the heavy set rotten mouth lady on the gril. Serving cold burgers. I call and complained and was told I need to bring the burger back and they'll fix me another one then hangs up in my face. By time i get there they're trying to serve me another cold burger that's been there for a hour, then gets a attitude and want to talk noise. The lady behind the grill start literally yelling at me because I ask ma'am why would you make the burger befor I come? My whole complaint was because my meat was cold and cheese was hard. Ms. Trinity wants to be sassy saying why didn't you tell us the exact time you were coming if you didn't want another cold burger. Trinity turns to the rotten mouth lady and ask are you really gone make another one? She's going to have to wait. ..... But Thank God for growth I just looked and smiled at both of them and just asked for a refund & told them have a blessed day. 😁😁😁
