Opinions de ATX Cocina Austin
I had a fantastic time here on a Friday night! After hearing so many great things from friends, I’m glad I finally visited. The carne asada was phenomenal, especially paired with the freshly handmade corn tortillas. I also tried a mocktail that was excellent. It can be hard to find a high-quality non-alcoholic drink, but they nailed it. The service was top-notch, and the ambiance made for a perfect evening. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
Visited ATX Cocina in downtown Austin with my family and had an amazing experience. This place serves modern Mexican cuisine, and everything we tried was excellent. We ordered sopes, machete, papas, duck, and steak, and every dish was flavorful, well-presented, and cooked perfectly. For drinks, we tried the Lychee Nini, which was refreshing and delicious. Both the food and drinks were outstanding. The service was great, and the vibe of the place is lively yet elegant, making it perfect for a family dinner or a special occasion. I’d highly recommend making a reservation, as the place gets quite busy. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with great food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. Definitely one of the must-visit modern Mexican spots in Austin. 🌮🍸✨
Exquisite presentation with explosion of flavors with a conscience of dietary needs. Lived the atmosphere on a Friday evening. Server was perfect. Definitely set reservations a few days ahead of time as it gets busy quickly- rightfully so!
What is not to like about this place! Meals are gourmet gluten free! Service is friendly and attentive. Atmosphere is delightfully chic. Large selection of tequila and other licquors and wine. A must visit to experience an elevated level of mexican food.
Wonderful! Erica was the best server. The food is incredible. I had the fish tacos and a vegetarian tamale. Handcrafted Margarita was so fresh scratch made. You cannot compare this restaurant to any other Mexican Restaurant in Austin.
We are always looking for new food spots, especially for brunch and this did not disappoint! So glad we found it and our server Taylor was great! Easy parking in garage and close to lake/walking trail to spend a nice after meal stroll. We visited on Sunday at 12:30pm and sat on the porch. Weather was fantastic, food was amazing. We had the chips, guacamole and queso to start. So fresh! Cocktails were delicious- and no light pours here. Their brunch options were perfect. We tried the Chilaquiles, Huevos Rancheros and Breakfast Burrito for entree. Everything so flavorful!! Definitely worth a try.
ATX Cocina is probably the best upscale Mexican restaurant I’ve ever been to. Had the pleasure of sitting at the back bar top with Ankit tonight. He beyond took care of my girlfriend and I. His food recommendations were amazing and all the cocktails he made really hit the spot. Between the cocktails, and the five or so food selections, I was left floored at the amount of flavors. Definitely one of my favorite dining spots in Austin.
Genuinely such a treat to come across this spot while in Austin. My group had reserved a section for a happy hour and I was beyond pleased with the food and cocktails. Their happy hour selections were great, and the cocktails were craft fully made. The food - full of flavor and diverse creations to truly keep you fueled and filled (in a healthy way).
Wife took me for my birthday and we had a fantastic experience. Food was delicious and portions generous. We had the guacamole and queso fundito to start, and they were so filling we had to scale back our main dish ambitions. House margarita was delicious (especially at happy hour prices :), but the La Cura is my new obsession. The service was incredible. My wife indicated on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and they went all out to make it special. Every staff member who interacted with us wished me a HBD, margarita was decked out with candle on the rim, surprise complimentary dessert (even though we were stuffed), and they dropped a card at the table hand signed by all the staff. Really above and beyond service!
The short rib with the sauce on the side & tortillas on the side was amazing! I loved the guac, but just so much food. The salsa was also good. I'd choose the salsa I think over the guac. The crab croquettes were Very Good! But messy & not good to eat on a date haha, but delicious. & the esquite was the best I've had, but I didn't want to eat more due to the bitter, but so good!
The staff was warm and inviting. Our waiter was attentive and always had an answer for our many questions. He was also considerate of our palate and preferences when making suggestions. Without going into too much detail. The food was fantastic. Portions were great all around. I’m excited to go back because there’s so much on the menu I still want to try. Great cocktails and a super solid margarita. Extensive selection of Agave based spirits. The space is amazing inside and the design/architecture of the ceiling was super pleasing to look at while eating.
Had a birthday dinner here with the girls and had the best time! The portions and food were good for everyone to share and it didn’t come out to be too much. They also kept doing little birthday things like giving me treats and they even gave me a personalized birthday card that the entire restaurant crew signed!
We stopped by for dinner ahead of a concert at the Austin City Limits Moody Theatre. The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. Andres was our server and took great care of us from recommending two different starter dishes and given us options on the meals to selecting an excellent dessert for my wife’s birthday dinner. He also asked for the correct spelling of her first name and brought her a card from the staff with many individual notes wishing her happy birthday. That’s a first for me at a restaurant. I would definitely go there again. Hamachi and sopes were excellent starters. The Bronzino was the whole fish filleted cooked to perfection with a wonderful brussels sprouts side.
I was in town for work and this place was highly recommended. I got the street corn and the carne asada, and they were both amazing, 10/10. The margarita was also delicious. Service was also fantastic- they were polite, attentative, but didn't push too much. Meal was not cheap by any means, but to be expected with the type of restaurant in a downtown setting. Got very good helpings, too. I would absolutely recommend.
Amazing, loved it! We went there for my birthday and the food was delicious and portions were very generous. My partner and I shared the Caesar salad (MASSIVE, could be shared between 3 or 4 people easily), the machete which was delicious - steak was perfect, and papas (potatoes). At the end we had the lime sorbet and we wouldn’t normally get something like that but would absolutely get it again next time. Prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and portions. Food came out super quick and our server was very friendly and made great recommendations. They’re located next/attached to a parking garage. I heard there’s valet service but we just parked in the garage and it was only $8 for two hours. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back!
We dined here for a corporate meeting on Cinco De Mayo. It was a Monday in 2025. This restaurant was full of energy & extremely busy but they didn’t miss a beat! The margaritas were delicious, food even better, & experience/service were on point! We had a party of nine and we were able to order each off the menu if we had one more person we would have needed to make preset arrangements for the menu prior. I highly recommend this restaurant in Austin Texas. This would be great for personal or professional meals. I want to go back as soon as possible. Appetizers were awesome. We asked our waitress for recommendations & she did an awesome job. The meals were just delicious! Our desserts were so great that I didn’t even get an opportunity to photograph them. Everyone just dug in! They had the very important basketball game on Celts vs. Knicks so at the end of the night, the place was roaring. It was loud there but in a good way. We had a blast!
Great restaurant, but more pricey and I’m not confident the highly priced entrees are worth it. We actually leaned into ordering a wide variety of appetizers and loved it. But because of this we didn’t order as many expensive entrees. The only entree we ordered was the short rib and while it was impressively tender, I felt the flavor in the sauce was a bit underwhelming. The appetizers were great. The queso and guac were fun. In particular the queso because it was served with little tacos so it was like you were making little quesadillas. The sopes were yummy but not very flavorful. The Caesar salad was good - crunchy lettuce. And the dessert - three chocolate was amazing. Easily one of my favorite items we tried. I also had the non alcoholic coconut drink and this was so fun and delicious. Big fan. Service was good. The restaurant is huge and there is a lot of patio seating too. It is loud inside.

Spent a lovely dinner evening at ATX Cocina for my partners birthday. I loved how the whole menu was gluten free. The starters were absolutely delicious. We had the tostadas de atún, which was a bit spicy but packed with flavor. The machete with chicken tinga was so juicy and that lemon aioli sauce was a perfect balance for all the cheese and flavors. My partner really loved his main which was crab relleno. I had the carne asada which was a bit too cooked for me but honestly I was satisfied with all the small bites and delicious drinks that I didn’t care to send it back (also not a fan of that). The server sent out a birthday dessert with candle which I thought was so sweet. We order tres leche as well but sadly was disappointed with the flavors. The staff, the service, was absolutely incredible. You can really tell everyone is working as a team. Will be returning next time I’m in Austin ⭐️
ATX Cocina shines when it comes to service: attentive, informed, and effortlessly friendly. The pork belly sopes were the standout—rich, crispy, and layered with just enough acid and heat from the pickled onions and jalapeños. Guacamole was fresh and reliable, and the esquites brought creamy, zesty comfort. The steak was cooked beautifully and plated with roasted greens and a bright herb sauce, but the flavors across the board felt a bit safe. Everything was well-executed, but I kept waiting for that one bold, unforgettable dish that never quite arrived. Still, it’s a sleek spot with quality ingredients and a team that knows what they’re doing. Solid 4 out of 5.
Overall had a delicious dinner here! Food: We had the machete which was our FAVE. So tasty and delicious. Queso fundido: must try! Was very authentic and the fresh tortillas are a plus. Brisket: Was good, but would try the steak next time Papas: spicy but tasty! The service was ok, I’m not sure if our waiter didn’t like us our what but he had a bit of an attitude with us. Would definitely come back though, worth checking out while in Austin.

Being honest here. My wife and I had dinner on Saturday 12-27-2025. First time. Have to Valet park which was ok. I’m adding photos of menu and our food. My wife ordered pork chop which she enjoyed. I ordered the tenderloin which was good. My wife wanted a strawberry margarita or daquari and was told there were none. The waitress suggested something else that was absurd. Ok. So we asked for a glass of Moscato. Again, no luck. No Moscato. Guess what though? There are over one hundred types of tequila? They have some wine but I didn’t care for the wine selection. I consider this a big fail for a dinner that is two bills. My wife said she would go again. Me? I’ll pass. I didn’t care for the waitress. She was not very empathetic and did not provide alternatives to make my wife happy with her drink requests. Thanks for the experience. I give 3 stars.

I had quite the disappointing dinner here last week. It's been 4-5 years since I've been back and the last time was absolutely incredible. I don't know if the chefs/cooks have changed, but everything was a miss. Dishes to do better on: Crab Tostadas = way too salty Betabels = overwhelming BBQ sauce flavor (mind you, 4-5 years ago, the beets dish we had was chopped beets instead of puree) Papas = overwhelming lime flavor which did not match the potatoes at all Carne Asada = weird cut and wasn't a win
I visited this restaurant with my family to celebrate my wife's birthday, but unfortunately, the experience was deeply disappointing. We ordered steaks, which were served significantly undercooked. At no point during the ordering process were we asked about our preferred doneness. When we brought this to the attention of our server, she assured us the steaks would be corrected. However, instead of being freshly remade, they were simply reheated and returned in noticeably smaller portions. To make matters worse, the accompanying vegetables were burnt on one side. As a result. What was especially disheartening was the lack of response from the management. Despite mentioning that it was her birthday and that we were celebrating as a family, there was no apology or effort to address the situation. Sadly, this experience completely spoiled what should have been a joyful evening. Based on the quality of food and service we received, I cannot recommend this restaurant and do not plan to return.
