Service was quick and super polite. I appreciated the quiet atmosphere too — not too noisy, just right.

This is honestly one of my favorite places to eat at. I want to give it a 5 star for food. However, it's a hit or miss. One day my food is excellent the next it's mediocre. The atmosphere is a 3 because it's not very fancy and you can tell this was an old restaurant that was redone with minimal investment. This isn't a dig to the restaurant... you ABSOLUTELY eat here. Just not it's a toss-up of excellent vs. not so excellent.

Nagoya Steak and Sushi restaurant was better than our expectations. My wife and I stopped by for their Hibachi grill lunch between noon and 1:00 PM. The overall ambiance of the restaurant is average and nothing to write home about. However, what the placed lacked in the building it made up for with friendly courteous staff who was prompt with service and served delicious food. My wife and I picked this place because the Kobe steakhouse had the same ratings but was more expensive. We both has the Hibachi filet with fried rice, house salad with Ginger dressing and soup. The prices were good for the area. The young man who cooked our food was one of their newer chefs. He was still practicing his utensil tricks, but I really enjoyed his personable and charming personality. This is a trait often lost in the restaurant business. The young chef explained his process while at the restaurant and how much he enjoyed cooking for other people. Instead of simply doing what a chef always does, he specifically asked my wife how we liked our rice and vegetables cooked, not just the steak. He applied past experience to improve the service to his customers. I made a comment to the young lady that I drank a lot of tea. She took the hint and always kept my glass filled. The other waiters also kept the table clean of meal waste and empty dishes. If you live in the area or are passing through I highly recommend giving Nagoya Steak and Sushi a try. It's not frilly but the staff make it a warm and enjoyable meal experience.

I love taking my kids here. The hibachi and the sushi are great. Lunch menu has some really good selections and prices if you're trying to save some money. I love the Crispy Dragon Roll on the dinner menu. The wait time after you get a seat at the hibachi is usually not very long. Service tends to be good.

Me and my friend Andy go there on occasion, and CJ always serves us. Coming from Ryujin I am very pleased. CJ always serves us. She is guarded at first, but opens up, and is warm, as well as very kind. She is an excellent server. The food here is the best. It is hard to find an establishment that knows how to cook steak medium rare, let alone fried calamari. The miso soup, and ginger salad are the best I’ve had. Their wasabi is medium (in the sense that the flavor is not overpowered by heat,) however CJ showed me that with mixing soy sauce with the wasabi the heat is brought forth. You have my blessing. 💧🐉

Hibachi lunch was excellent prepared by chef. Scallops oh so tiny but pack a powerful flavor. Salmon was delicious. Honestly thought would be dry (fish, ya know) BUT it was cooked perfectly! Others had steak, chicken, pasta, rice all said was excellent. I only missed my second part of the double-portion vegetable I ordered (instead of rice or pasta) and no treat (dessert) at end of meal. I did try telling chef veggies but its hard to hear over the fan I suppose. Waiter was perfect. He wrote everything down as it did appear on my ticket. Appreciated the waiter's description of some of the menu and also ability to pay cash and get a paper receipt!

I still love bringing the family here! This place has always been a fave of the fam for many years and it continues to deliver on great service, great food and not overly priced. The hibachi experience here is phenomenal, but don't sleep on the sushi. They have some of the best rolls in town.

Awesome service and sushi. Went to Nagoya last week with my son and grandchildren and we had such good time. The server was so responsive and the sushi was so good. Our favorite sushi was the Cedar Park roll!

One of the best teppanyaki restaurants in the area for the best price, my family has dined here for about 5 years for special occasions and have not been dissatisfied. The portions are large, the staff is speedy, and the chefs can certainly entertain as you'd expect from this type of experience. You will not be disappointed by their lunch either with a good selection of bento boxes and their incredibly priced lunch specials. Will be coming here for many more birthdays!

We came here to celebrate my sister's graduation and we had a great time! The food that was made hibachi style was delicious! The sushi that we ordered could have been a little better, but the show was very fun, we will definitely be coming back in the future!

My family and I have been coming here for years. It's one of our special occasion spots, as it can get a little pricey. The food is delicious and the chefs are hilarious! They make the experience! My son loves to order the steak, it's seasoned well and cooked to his liking. He has a lot of food allergies, and this place caters well to that. I do the veggies and I love that plate, my husband always changes! Sushi is fresh, a lot of options. Happy Hour had great prices too. The Lychee Martini is my favorite. Nagoya is our favorite hibachi grill in the area by far.

It was wonderful. Helped me feel like I was closer to home. We had a large party, they nailed it. Every detail, including the most important of all, they all are delightful kind people. I watched each interaction as I could with our guests, the staff nailed it. I wanted to make sure each of the guests were pleased and perhaps smiling. The only thing I said the whole night to the staff was my gratitude. What a great team.

I realized tonite that my husband and I eat here probably once a week and I’ve never left a review. Nagoya is absolutely the best Japanese food I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. In addition to the fact that the food is amazing… CJ and pretty much the entire wait staff are a true gem. If you’re looking for a new Japanese restaurant or just in the mood for something new, this is the place! A quick note…the Filet Mignon roll is probably one of the tastiest bites I’ve ever put in my mouth. ;)

We got a late sitter & initially picked this restaurant because it was open until 10pm. Our waiter's name was Adam, he was so polite and very attentive, the food was cooked right in front of us and served up beautifully. There were tons of options to choose from! We will be back with the kids next time.

What an amazing Experience. Food, Service, comfort par Excellence. We ordered Hot and Sour soup, Szechuan Chicken, Egg plant with string beans and spicy fish. You have to try this place to believe how good it is.

I am not a spicy food eating girl so I was a little worried because this is literally in their name!! But they will make your food with no spice. We have been here twice in one week. We get the egg drop soup (amazing and no one does this better), scallion pancakes (not greasy, like everyone else), spicy garlic chicken, and we add broccoli and make it not spicy, fried rice with chicken, and cold noodles (not spicy). We did take out both times but the restaurant is clean, a nice inviting vibe and super friendly staff. We really love this place.

I stopped in for a business lunch at the recently opened Spicy House and ended up having a great conversation with the owner. We learned the chefs are from Sichuan (Szechuan), China, so you’re getting the real deal when it comes to authentic flavors. And despite the name, don’t worry—they offer three spice levels, so even if you’re not a heat lover, you’re covered. The atmosphere was open and comfortable, not cramped like a lot of places. They’ve got electronic tablet menus, and yes… a robot server 🤖 (which was pretty awesome). The restaurant was spotless—you can tell these folks take real pride in their business. Service was great from start to finish. They also carry some exotic liquors from their homeland—fair warning, those will put some hair on your chest 😅—plus several beers on tap. As for the food: filling, flavorful, and satisfying without leaving you drenched in sweat. I ordered the combo lo mein and spicy chicken, and I’d absolutely order it again. I’m definitely bringing the family back for a new food adventure. Highly recommend stopping by and giving them a try. 👉 Support local business—you won’t regret this one!

Very fresh tasty food. Can be as spicy as you want. Very helpful and friendly service. Nana our server was great. You order on a tablet or kiosk so you can see pics of the dishes which is cool and different. We ordered a number of dishes, the portion size is good, so we ate our fill and still have enough for a second meal. Hot and Sour Soup was delicious. Pot Stickers were crispy on the outside and filled with a juicy pork filling. Spicy Garlic Pork was delicious as was Garlic Eggplant. They end the meal with delicious chocolate cake bites. Definitely worth checking out if you like Chinese Cuisine and Spicy Food.

I was driving around the Austin area and happened to come across this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. It’s a Sichuan-style Chinese spot that looks like it may have previously been a Japanese restaurant. The menu had lots of temping items, and I ended up getting a home style tofu dish and a spicy chicken dish, both were excellent. The food was appetizing and the flavors definitely hit the spot, it was well seasoned and was just really flavorful. Easily one of the best Sichuan spots I've been to and will definitely be returning when I'm in the area again. Will be trying new items from the menu as well.

We’ve come many times for hibachi and that is always amazing! Tonight my husband and I decided to come for date night and were very very pleasantly surprised by the other menu items! The lychee martini is absolutely our favorite version we’ve had. Tuna tartar was an absolutely perfect balance of flavor. The tempura shrimp was on par with the tempura we had at an upscale chef tasting menu in Kyoto, Japan a few months ago. 😋

It’s the best place i ever eaten. imo the miso ramen is the best ramen i ever had in a long time, might be because i find it nostalgic, It made me remember my grandmas soup. But anyways. The Kyoto roll is my favorite roll in here. It tastes so good it makes me want to lick the plate. And in addition to all this my fav appetizer is the crab puffs with that fantastic red sauce that it comes with. And the staff is very friendly and welcoming. 10/10✨ would come back again!

I recently dined at Nagoya Steak and Sushi and was absolutely blown away by their dishes. The noodles were perfectly cooked—smooth, savory, and full of flavor, with just the right balance of seasoning. The sushi rolls I tried were equally impressive—fresh, delicately crafted, and full of flavor in every bite. The combination of textures and the quality of the ingredients made each dish a standout. Highly recommend this place if you're craving delicious food! The price is also very good and very kid-friendly. Dont let the outside fool you. Although its not fancy or updated looking this place is well worth the stop. The staff was exceptionally accomodating and friendly. The service and food was great! We sat at the hibachi grill and had a mix of shrimp, steak, chicken fried rice, vegetables, sushi rolls, shrimp tempura roll, and even the fried tempura ice cream.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed this place! The food tastes great, the ambiance is "homey" and relaxing, nothing superficial, and overall, the place is clean - which is really important for something like food 😉 We decided to sit at the Hibachi table and get the Dinner for 2, which is a combination of steak, chicken, and shrimp for the protein... and yes! I can truly say that we made the right choice! My boyfriend even cleaned his plate, nothing wasted! It was that good. It's definitely a good place to come back to for hibachi and maybe even sushi next time!

It had been several years since we had come to Nagoya and it didn't disappoint. Just as great as we had remembered it. We were there on a busy night over the holidays and we had a bit of a wait before the cook came to our spot to cook but once he was there he cooked several of our meals in a very short time. Not only that but he was very friendly and did a great job with an entertaining experience. If I'm looking for a negative,I would say the shrimp was slightly over-cooked but really it was nothing to hold back on a review for. It tasted fantastic, honestly. My daughter had the Miso Ramen and loved it. Every staff member we interacted with was very friendly. We'll make sure to come back more often now!

Great food here, sushi was fresh and delicious. Service is kind of mediocre as this was my third time here and last time I never received my food even. The place is clean but a little out dated as far as decor.

The chef was a little quiet at first, but great with the two 3 year olds at our table. He was quick in preparing our food and entertained the kids and adults with his show, egg roll, tossing the eggs, onion volcano, etc. Our family and friends of 9 really enjoyed it.

Hibachi service was good, but my scallops were somewhat overcooked. The noodles were good. Luck of the draw as far as who you're sat with if you don't come with a full table sized party. But we enjoyed our table mates. Overall a good experience.

Overall, We enjoyed ourselves... there was some service issues and definitely lots of room for improvement. But there were apologies made and steps taken to ensure that our experience was good overall. The kids loved the hibachi presentation, the food, and the Mochi ice cream. I will definitely come back.

Overall great experience. We got the hibachi dinner for 2 with steak shrimp and chicken, and ordered an extra side of ribeye steak. We also got the shrimp tempura, sea urchin (uni), fatty salmon, and hamachi. The presentation and food preparation of chef Tai was on point. Food is a little more on the pricey side but a good amount of good tasting food. Dinner comes with soup and a salad. This was one of the only places open during the crazy snow storm here in Austin (Feb 20, 2021) when many people had no power or clean running water.

Rolls were good, hibachi meals were too much salty, too much cooked, ribeye very fin and lobster very chewy and not good at all. Shrimps were good,. Margarita cocktail not very tasty. Service and atmosphere were not bad but standard.

Not a pleasant service experience and food was all right. I don't even recall the hostess (whom I think may have been the owner or at least a manager) greeting us. She asked hibachi or table and my husband replied hibachi. She took us to one with already a family seated while the ENTIRE restaurant was empty. I understand using limited resources on a slow night, but I would have appreciated her asking us if we are okay with sitting at the same table as another family, especially seeing that we have a toddler with us and we would like to social distance. When we finally moved, the family already seated gave me dirty looks and I was quite irritated to be placed in that awkward situation.

We went for lunch and had the 2 for 19.99 special. The hibachi chef was very entertaining and professional. The restaurant was not busy at all so we were able to talk freely amongst our party with disturbing anyone. The only drawback was they don't give refills on sodas if not for that I would have given another star.

Ordered the hibachi filet mignon. It was very fatty and didn't taste like filet mignon. Was not impressed with the food.

I think this is a place more for teppanyaki instead of sushi. My husband and I came here and ordered a few dishes to try. They were not bad but nothing spectacular. We were a bit shocked to see the color of the uni. The chef put ponzu sauce on the uni and with avocado. It’s a bit strange and killed the flavor of the uni. The rest of the sushi was okay. The Nagoya ceviche was okay. The lobster roll was not what we expected. It tasted more like a super shrimp tempura roll. A bit too fried. But the teppanyaki was very packed. We will come back to try the teppanyaki. If you want sushi and sashimi, this may not be the place. But the chef is very nice. Very good customer service.

Got chirashi bowl to get a sampling of their sushi. I smelled it before I saw it...I tried one piece and gagged. Thankfully the hibachi was decent, but I got the stink eye for returning the dish and got poor service after. Would come back but not for anything undercooked!

Overall good. The food was ok, a little heavy on the sauce for the chicken. The shrimp was done well. The pan fried dumplings were good. Our chef was good and the show was good.

Came here for a happy hour late lunch. I can recommend it, nice happy hour menu with $5 on apps and sushi, and $10 for some of their special rolls, and best of all, $4 hot sake. I got the yakitori and spicy tuna roll. The sauce on the yakitori was great but the chicken was dry. The spicy tuna roll was average, a bit bland. But still, I'd come back for this happy hour for sure!

About a 30 minute wait which was fine but then we waited at our table for an hour for the chef to come out. Our poor kids were hungry and tired. We had no clue there would be an additional wait. Otherwise we would not have stayed. Bar tender was really nice and brought crayons to the kids when we were waiting for the initial 30 mins. I will never come back here. I don't write negative reviews lightly. Food was good. Chef was great. But the wait was awful. We could tell they don't have enough chefs for the tables

Terrible customer service. Waited for one hour at the table before cooking started. Took 20 minutes to offer us menus and drinks. I would never return to this restaurant again. Staff were rude when asked about wait/service. Place was also very hot. AC was not working well.

This was my first experience with this type of restaurant and I was anxious to share the experience with a group of my family members. I expected more of an upscale experience but was disappointed when we walked in to a dingy dining room that is in need of a face-lift. The staff is pleasant and we were warmly greeted and served well. The food quality of the chicken and scallops prepared in front of our party was second rate and the presentation seemed tired and over rehearsed for the cost of the meal.

FOOD POISONING- undercooked seafood. Not worth the time or money! Drive down the street to shogun for better food, service and atmosphere! Read below- We sat down for the hibachi and ordered the scallops and steak. We were celebrating a special day and had lots of friends with us and had hoped for a good experience here! First off it took nearly an hour for them to take our order and start cooking on a very slow Friday night (we were on a time crunch) When we did order it took another 15 for them to show up and finally started to grill a very unmotivated experience. All the food was under seasoned and undercooked!! We are currently dealing with food poisoning from undercooked seafood which when we pointed out “this might need more time” we were met with disdain from the cook. When we received our steak it was still cold on the inside - completely raw. When we pointed that out the reply back before checking to see the color or cook temp was “oh so you don’t want medium rare” very rudely back to us instead of offering to cook it up to temp. Bad food and bad service all around- extremely dissatisfied! I had high hopes but I have learned my lesson and will always take my business back to shogun. Would be good for a manager to reach out to discuss.

Took 30 min for the server to greet us and take the appetizer order, another 30/40min to send out food without any table touches. Food came out randomly and was not worth the wait at all. We decided to not even order an entree at this point, did not want to be in this trashy environment with zero to no service. Calamari was terrible and the oil it was fried in tasted old and greasy. Just overall terrible experience.

We decided on Nagoya after seeing positive reviews but unfortunately we did not have a positive experience. We had 8 people in our party and were seated immediately. However it was very hot in the restaurant and we waited over an hour to order. All of our bills were much higher than expected but we were rushed to pay and are not sure what the extra charges were (that is a little on us for not being more forceful about seeing the bill). The food was not good. Was overcooked and dry. I’ve had hibachi plenty of times and this was by far the worst I’ve ever had. The service was not good. We waited too long for refills and were rarely checked on. We definitely will not be back.

Worst sushi ever. I ordered tamago, toro salmon, Kevin's special and nigiri, the tamago was burnt egg over non-flavored rice. The special roll, had burnt tuna on top and once piece of asparagus in the center, for all of the great reviews online, I would not recommend this place.

Man this was just a miserable experience for me. Guy splashed hot oil on me while cooking the rice, which was both unpleasant and also ruined one of my favourite shirts. I asked him to cook my steak away from the seafood as I can’t have it, and even though the entire skillet was free he completely ignored me and just put it right on top of where the shrimp was. One of the other patrons even commented like “well we have a nurse at the table just in case.” Then he tried to put shrimp on my plate, then tried to do the shrimp toss to me. Cmon man. The chicken was wildly overcooked and dry. Veggies and rice were good. The miso soup was inauthentic and watery with a very heavy seaweed flavour. Not a good miso. Finally, the steak was way underdone, and I am the type who prefers a more rare steak. But I don’t care how you like your steak, a medium rare steak should not be cold when served, especially if it is butterflied. To top it off the whole ordeal cost like $200 for 4 people, a price that I would expect at a nicer scratch kitchen like Foxhole or Odd Duck where everything is perfect. Could not recommend less.

I expected the food to be better than what it was. It’s hibachi so it’s hard to mess up or so I thought. The vegetables were overcooked and the rice was not fried rice. If I’m paying extra then please give me fried rice not steamed with soy sauce on it. Also the chef dropped my friends chicken on the table, proceeded to pick it up and put it on her plate!!! Ewwww cause I don’t know how clean this table is. My steak and chicken had not flavor just pepper was all I tasted and the yumyum sauce tasted like watered down mayo! I’ve had Nagoya in Arlington and completely different experience as there is always fresh and taste amazing. This Nagoya in Austin needs to be trained better and taught about food handling. Definitely will not be visiting this establishment again

Food had no flavor other than numbing peppercorn. Our waitress was not welcoming at all, and when we paid we tipped 15% and she came back and told us we had to tip a minimum of 20%. It was really hot inside and overall not a good experience.

I should’ve known better when I walked in on a Thursday evening at about 7pm and not a single person was in here. Not one single person. My stomach has been in shambles since yesterday. I don’t have a problem with spice but they gave me a bowl of basically flakes of chicken. The pieces were tiny and disgusting. I asked for medium spice and they gave me a spice level only Satan himself would enjoy. All the spices on earth couldn’t hide the terrible quality of the food here. I would rather eat a fried bat which is probably what this is anyway. Wish I had two more hands so I can give this place four thumbs down
