I have visited Tandoori Lounge Plus Bar Indian Cuisine twice, and overall it has been a memorable experience. My first visit was late at night. Before arriving, we called the restaurant and were informed that it was open until 3:00 a.m. When we reached around 2:00 a.m., we learned that dine-in service had already closed and that the restaurant was only accepting takeout orders until 3:00 a.m. This was understandably disappointing, as we had specifically called regarding dine-in service. Clearer communication regarding the difference between dine-in hours and takeout hours would have been helpful. Despite that initial inconvenience, we decided to place a takeout order since it was already quite late. We ordered a variety of dishes, and the food quality was impressive. The flavors were well balanced, and the portion sizes were fair—comfortably filling without being excessive. What stood out during that visit was the kindness of the owner, who came out while closing and spent a few moments speaking with us, which left a positive impression. On our second visit, we returned for a friend’s birthday dinner and were able to enjoy the full dine-in experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is one of its strongest features. The interior has a cozy, dimly lit atmosphere that gives each table a candlelight-style dining feel, making it ideal for relaxed dinners and small celebrations. The menu is also well organized and easy to navigate, offering a focused selection without feeling overwhelming. During this visit, we explored a wide range of dishes. The biryanis—particularly the chicken, mutton, and goat biryani—were excellent and generously filled with meat, making them both flavorful and satisfying. We also tried several curries, including Achari Chicken, Chicken Chettinad, Butter Chicken, Chili Chicken, and Mutton Rogan Josh. Each dish was well prepared and flavorful, and they paired nicely with the rice served alongside them. The kebabs were another highlight; they were nicely crisp on the outside while remaining tender inside. The naan breads complemented the meal well. I did try the dosa, which was softer than the thin, crispy style typically expected, and the accompanying chutneys were fairly simple. However, the rest of the menu more than made up for it with consistently good flavors. In terms of portions, the servings are satisfying and well suited for a full meal. The pricing is slightly on the higher side compared to some other restaurants, but the quality of the food, the pleasant ambiance, and the attentive service help justify the overall value. Overall, Tandoori Lounge Plus Bar Indian Cuisine offers a warm atmosphere, flavorful dishes, and a welcoming environment. The combination of good food, a cozy setting, and friendly hospitality—along with the added benefit of a bar—makes it a great place for dinner or small celebrations. I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable dining experience with a wide range of Indian dishes.
This was our first time dining here. The food, service, and atmosphere were fantastic! We had the chicken samosas, garlic naan, chicken saagwala and chicken biryani. Everything was delicious! For drinks, they had a unique version of an Old Fashioned that had warm winter spices. It was super tasty and perfect for a chilly evening. We will definitely be back!
First time trying this place and Indian food and it was great! Got the chicken 65 and it was so good! The chicken was so moist and flavorful! We also got the tikki masala and butter chicken! The garlic naan was phenomenal as well 10/10 recommend!
Cocktails are too good!! Must try We tried pina colada and spicy Indian Margherita Food was average! Egg fried rice was bad !! And Mutton biryani was just good! Giving 5 star because of the service As they gave rasmalai as complimentary when we said fried rice was bad!
Aaaahhhhmazing ! So delicious ! Got vegetable and chicken samosa, butter, chicken, goat/ lamb chetinad curry, lahori tadka daal and lastly a Taj Mahal beer - 10/10 Service was TOP NOTCH, ambience was sensational and on point! Came with my family and we were satisfied ! Thank you, I’m so happy we visited while visiting atx.
First time trying Indian food, found out it’s Northern Indian cuisine. It was very tasty and delicious. The butter chicken was excellent and the garlic naan was super delicious. I also really enjoyed the music playing
My friend and I went for dinner, and we love this place! We had been craving their food for a while, and we decided to go and it was amazing! Food came out very quick, and it was delicious! Menu has a variety of choices, all well priced, and all of them were my favorite! They recently renovated, so it looks very beautiful and modern. The service was also amazing, and the servers were super sweet. I would recommend this place to everyone!
Tandoori lounge is a hidden gem of a restaurant tucked away on the side of William Cannon. The food here is excellent, and I would particularly recommend the Utthapam and the garlic naan - they're some of the best I've had in Austin. Our server Shamu was very attentive and polite and handled our complex order for a big group with ease, and made sure everything came out timely. I will definitely be back!
Great food! The service was good, but it was very busy when we came. Water bottles were used instead of water glasses and it was not very eco friendly and clogged the table since we drank more than one bottle each. But it overall a lovely experience!
Everything we ordered was exceptional. The tandoori chicken was a huge hit with my brother, Roger Vitko, while Natalie thoroughly enjoyed the rich flavors of her paneer masala. I opted for the chana masala, which was perfectly seasoned and my favorite part of the meal.
Riya has been an incredibly gracious and kind waitress on all of my visits. Your food is incredibly nourishing and flavorful. I love how the chicken cubes have a smokey tandoori flavor to them in the tikka masala. Good hearted people and flavorful food. I hope you open further north in the city!
Great place! First time trying it out and it didn’t disappoint! We were a party of 10 and were quickly accommodated without a wait. The food was banging! We had a variety of the tika masala’s ( chicken , lamb) , butter chicken, Chana masala, aloo Gobi, pepper lamb as well as plain and garlic naan! All were 10/10 especially the naan!! We had some of the lassi drinks as well which were thick and creamy but for me the mint lemonade was a stand out ! Solid place! Also Loved the vibe! Music was tasteful and low key and I also loved the art for sale!
This is not your typical Indian restaurant. You walk in and the place smells fresh. No masalas no nothing in the air. Three TVs playing sports channels, music is upbeat pop. Super relaxed ambience. 2-3 people serving you as a team, each one has his/her own charm and are very hospitable. When taking our order, the young woman said "ma'am the grill items will take a bit longer." And that was okay. Then as we were waiting, another came and said "ma'am just so you know we are working on your food - the grill items just take a bit longer." That second approach - a simple courtesy to the guest, is rare these days. Food. - Ordered the pakoras, ate them all without feeling the grease. - Garlic naan and Kashmiri naan - finger licking. - EXCELLENT lamb dishes!! We tried the pepper fry lamb and the lamb tikka masala. - Malai chicken boti - The meat did feel like malai. So extremely soft -'d tender! All the grill dishes came with rice, a traditional daal and a nice summer crisp salad. MOST IMPORTANTLY- every dish had its own taste. They were all unique. We didn't feel stuffed so they must use fresh ingredients. Extremely happy to have found this place. They are open until 3 am so we might go on late night adventures very soon! :)
Visited this place for a trip to Austin. One of the best Indian Restaurant in Austin. Taste is excellent and amazing. Quality and Quantity of the food is very good. They have wide range of menu. I have tried couple of Biryani’s and Tiffins. All of the incredible in taste and texture. Loved to visit again in future. I hope they continue to serve good food. Please do visit if you’re looking for Indian Restaurant. I thought it was over hyped at first but afterwards it is completely out of the box.
This is hands down the best Indian restaurant I’ve been to in Austin. After a long search, I finally found a place that serves truly authentic Indian food. That said, they also have options for those who prefer less spicy dishes—just ask which items can have the spice level adjusted. We ordered the goat biryani, lamb rogan josh, haleem, chai, and rasmalai, and everything was made to perfection. Our server was incredibly patient, helpful, and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. This is definitely my go-to Indian restaurant from now on!

I can't wait to go back and try more items. I was really impressed with everything. We tried 3 different naan's: Rosemary,Garlic & cheese were my favorite.
Too many TVs, but great food and kind service. Lamb in saagwalla curry was super tender and juicy. Garlic naan was served hot and fresh. So delicious. We also got the Mysore dosa and loved it. Beautiful chic table lamps. We will definitely be back.
Average food, expensive prices, terrible customer service. You'll wait an additional 20 to 30 minutes after the promised pickup time no matter how early you order. The owners/management are not rec…
Oof, I have echo some of the negative reviews here. I was in the mood for some indian food, and I saw the 4.8 star rating for this place and came by. It was fairly busy in there, and there are a few staff members at the back of the store running orders. One of the guys sees me, asks me if it's togo, I say no just me and he sits me in a corner table. I guess I should have sat in the other chair with better visibility because I was sat for more than 5 mins before I realized I didn't have a waiter? I noticed a couple got sat and immediately got the waitress in the restaurant, so I figured the guys forgot me. I flagged them down and as one of them was walking to me he pointed to me and to the waitress to tell her I was sat. It seems like they all kind of share tables, and if it were any of the guys who decided to be my waiter I probably wouldn't even need to write a review. So she comes over to me and doesn't greet me, sets a plate and glass of water down and stares down at me (??). I then tell her what I wanted and she leaves. I should have set a timer, because it took more than 25 minutes for me to get my food, whereas that couple she sat after me got theirs in less than ten, a set of 4 people got ALL their food at once within in the next 10, another couple was sat and got their food a little after I did (i mean their big plate of chicken came out in like 10 mins or less, no joke). I have a feeling the only way that could have happened was if she intentionally put in my order significantly later than everyone else. Even so, she didn't come by again. The guys were running around with their handheld payment processors, so I ended paying with one of them. Now the food. I'm pretty sure (and I could be wrong) I didn't get what I ordered. I order Korma at indian restaurants a lot, and it comes out usually off-white. This dish I got was orange, like tikka masala. I mean, it tasted fine, but I agree with other's that the food is very bland. It did not taste like Korma either. The strongest flavor I got was from the rosemary on my naan. Also, the naan was burnt quite a bit. Despite these things, I still rated the food 4 stars because they were veeerryy generous with the amount of lamb. All this to say, I won't be coming back. I mean, I was in the middle of ordering Tarka on my phone after contemplating getting up and leaving 3 times in this whole ordeal. (I wish I had, I ended up paying double what I woulda gotten at Tarka, where I would have had more flavorful food and better service) I also lost my appetite from frustration so I needed to take it "togo" in the end
I’m a big chicken tikka masala person and the flavor is great but what is up with the chicken? It’s soft but it doesn’t break apart easy and it’s chewy! It’s always like that and we order take out from here all the time. I’ve been going to curry express because it’s the old owner of Asiana Indian cuisine and the chicken texture is way better. Guys do something about the chicken something’s not right and it’s been like this for years.
Ask Amy: Tandoori & Lounge + Bar 🍛 Not-So-India Jones: Walked in expecting Bollywood, got more “Sports Bar with a Side of Curry.” Atmosphere: meh. 🌶️ Spice Level: Witness Protection Program: I got mild, hubby got medium—both came out in hiding. Somewhere in the back, the chilies are laughing. 🥕 Veggie Crunch Olympics: My vegetables were so firm I half-expected a medal ceremony. I like texture, but not “raw farmer’s market sampler.” 🥂 Server = Superhero: One server. One. She juggled the entire place with grace while the rest of us questioned life choices. Pay this woman more. 📺 Final Destination: Flat Screen: The TV on the wall looked one wobble away from my lap. Dining and dodging, all in one. 💸 Could Be Fancy, Settled for Frugal: With a sprinkle of cash and some imagination, this could be an upscale gem. Instead, it’s giving “budget lounge.” ⭐ Verdict: Good food, great server, but not the full Indian restaurant fantasy. Come hungry, leave mildly amused.
Total opposite experience compared to google reviews. 3000+ reviews and 4.8 rating would set the bar high but experience in person was a total failure. First exposure - Food served but no plates served. Order Achaari paneer medium spicy and to my surprise it did not had even 0.00001% Achaari taste. Very spicy compared to medium level. Not a good experience especially when dining with family and nit recommended.
Came here for the first time and the food was okay no complaints but it could’ve been better especially the lahori dal. We ordered chai which was served after we were done with our lunch. The waiter who took our order was not at all interested in serving or even communicating in general. It doesn’t take that much effort to just ask how are you or talk while Keeping a smile on your face. I’ll definitely not be coming back here especially after paying gratuity for a service which was below mark.
This is not your place if you want to try authentic indian cuisine. We ordered Butter Chicken, Daal Makhni, Chicken Biryani, Dosa, Garlic and Bullet Naan and we didn’t like either of these. All these items lacked salt and it had a bland taste. We had to add salt on top. Butter Chicken was nothing but a tomato purée without any hints of indian spices. It had huge cubes of chicken, the authentic butter chicken has shredded small pieces of chicken. Overall, I won’t recommend this restaurant at all if you want authentic indian cuisine experience.
