Amanda was an amazing server when we came in on Valentine’s Day! She made great suggestions, and made the atmosphere bright. The food was scrumptious as well and decently quick for a holiday night. Thank you Amanda, It was lovely to be seated in your section!
This place is excellent. The service was outstanding. The menu selection was high and well designed. Appetizers and entree were excellent. Hot and very good. Highly recommend.
I had never been there before. I assumed it was too fancy, but it's far from it. Cozy restaurant..food took a while to get to the table. Serving was ample amount. We had the lunch specials of Panang Curry with eggrolls and Sweet/Sour chicken with eggrolls. We both had Thai tea, which was different and really good. I would like to try other menu items.
The wait staff is attentive and helpful, but I ordered a spice level of 7 while everyone else at my table was a 0 or 1. My entree came with no spice I could detect. Maybe the kitchen assumed mine was mild too? My waiter was quick to supply me with a spice tray to make it right Kudos to my waiter for covering for the kitchen. Otherwise the food was fresh and tasty.
We made a reservation for our party of 5, the table was ready when we arrived and we received prompt service. While the kitchen did not get the spice level correct on one of our dishes our server made it right immediately by bringing a spice tray out. The food was delicious and the wait staff was excellent!
Curry puffs and Beef Pad Thai, they ask you a spice level. The menu says 3 is medium, I chose 5 and it delivered for sure for the pad Thai. The puffs with sauce is awesome, without a little bland. Worth a visit prices are decent as well. Atmosphere is cozy and the staff is pleasant. The seats and booths need an upgrade, quite uncomfortable.
Took 45 mins to get eggrolls and an hour for our entrees while they were sending 10+ doordash orders out. Food is good, but get carry out to get your food faster.
I’m a local that has visited Thai Taste half a dozen times. I always get pineapple chicken fried rice with no shrimp but I like mushrooms added. It’s always been delicious. I visited with my aunt on Wednesday and ordered my usual. It tasted good but I kept wondering about the mushrooms so I ate just one on its own and it was a canned mushroom!! You can’t deny what a canned mushroom tastes like! I feel like there is no excuse for this. They should have told me they were out of mushrooms instead of popping a can open. I paid a hefty price for canned mushrooms:(
The price on the menu is very reasonable. The place had a nice ambiance to it. The Pad thai was wonderful. However, I didn't like the soup. Also, the cashews in the pineapple rice was burnt. It was not spicy and it was more salty. My suggestion is to leave the salt and pepper shakers on the table so that the guests can decide how they would like to dress it up.
This was my second dine-in experience with Thai taste. The atmosphere was very nice. The service was very good. The food was not good though. As a Thai person, I questioned if the cook was even Thai. I ordered a noodle salad dish with spicy level of 8. It was flavorless. It was so bad I decided to box it up to season it myself at home. If you know what real Thai food is, you’d be disappointed. This makes me sad.
Food is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, the last 3 times I have ordered the PAD SEE-EWE for takeout I have ordered it with no spice. Each time it has been so spicy to the point you can’t taste it because your mouth is on fire. Will not be eating here anymore, sadly.
One star because I can’t give zero. It was freezing outside, and we were seated right next to a window — not the most comfortable, but I understand that happens. The bigger issue was the service. We ordered only two fried rice dishes, and the restaurant was far from busy with many open tables. After waiting nearly an hour with no food, no check-ins, and no explanation, we decided to leave. We left our drinks on the table. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst service experiences I’ve had.
My experiences there are far far from stellar. First time years ago the food was prepared at a 8 when i asked for a 0, they didn't believe me until "they tasted it in the back when they toʻk it away" 🤢 then we ordered it and picjed it up it was so dry i had to taje a drink each time i took a bite. No one was impressed. I messaged them about it the owner could care less. I was quite surprised by that.
Honestly I wish I could leave 0 stars as a review. Staff is rude and doesn't know how to prioritize their work and handling orders. If you order to go expect to wait a minimum of 15 minutes but really it's 30+(also for door dash) It's Everytime. Not worth the trouble.
Super disappointing. Came here on recommendation and was not impressed. First of all, our online food order apparently never went through (despite getting a confirmation text). We went to pick it up and were told that the DoorDash order didn’t print out… So, we ended up waiting for them to make our food once we’d arrived to pick it up. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the ordering mishap. It was probably the worst yellow curry I’ve ever had. No coconut flavor or turmeric flavor coming through whatsoever… just pretty bland mush. My fiancée got massaman curry that was okay, and we ended up sharing that and throwing the yellow curry away.
Please do not judge Carbondale by this "staple" location as there is potential to share my experienceS. I got this TO GO (after calling repeatedly over the span of a few minutes [GET CALL HOLDING]) which is probably why they let such an awful order slip through. I've had a few bad experiences having only eaten here maybe six or seven times in eleven years. A couple of the dine-ins were good, but one time it tasted like someone cooked a cigarette butt in my food... but that was a few years ago. Two days ago (I wrote most of this the day of but wanted to wait to post for reasons I'll discuss in a minute), I finally decided to try it again because I'm ill and a friend said the Tom Yum soup made them feel better in the past. I got green curry as well to compare it to this fantastic restaurant in Indy's called Sandra's Noodles (similarly priced to here and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED). The GREEN CURRY I ordered had no peas, no carrots, some kind of canned button mushroom (not straw mushrooms), and there was no fresh basil. I took a picture (see below) after I decided that I was irritated enough to leave a review (I had already eaten some) but I assure you that I did not sharpshoot the peas, carrots, straw mushrooms, and basil just for this review. All of those items were on the menu but, again, not in the dish. I guess there was a communication breakdown as they let me unknowingly order something they had less than half the ingredients to make. I suppose some of them could've been pureed in the "sauce" but all i could see were bamboo shoots, canned mushrooms, and chicken in paste... It tasted alright, (salt, fish sauce, coconut milk, and green curry paste), but don't expect to get anything like what you ordered and certainly don't expect what you'd get from Sandra's which had very similar visible ingredients to those listed on this menu. I also ordered the TOM YUM soup with chicken. It was bland yet sour making it essentially inedible (I had two bites then and one during the second tasting after which the picture was taken explaining why so much is gone). I couldn't tell where the gross flavor was coming from but I'd guess bad limes or an old frozen broth. There were no other flavors coming through including chicken, lemongrass, etc. Now, again, I waited two days to post this so I could have a friend confirm and they weren't able to come until the following afternoon. I reheated them a portion hoping the extra day didn't improve the flavor and make me look foolish but before tasting the soup, they said it smelled like "wet dog" ;-) I don't own a dog nor do they. They further described it as smelling "kind of like a kitchen sink". I do have one of those and admittedly the experiment took place in the same room. They tasted it and couldn't describe the flavor any better than I already have and added that they would have recommended it NOT be served at a restaurant they had any control over and that they felt bad for recommending it to me. The vegetable soup of the day was actually really good and full of veggies and I'm glad I ordered that as opposed to two of the smallest over-fried egg rolls I've ever eaten. That being said, I'm not sure what about the soup was "authentic Thai". Probably not the corn. Stick to dine-in and the pad thai if you have to eat here, I certainly won't, and hope that it's cooked in an unburned pan. Be better, Thai Taste... For the record, I was thinking about calling/going in to complain, but I absolutely did not want to eat here again, you can keep my money, and this review only would've changed to say that at least management tried to improve the deal. A rude interaction (possible as it's been two days and I lost the receipt) would've made this review less credible and I'm still sick. I'd like to think I would've done my part anyway to prevent others from having to deal with the same situation particularly since you're (were...) a "Carbondale staple". I'm certainly not the first to voice similar complaints, but apparently not publicly which is why they're still so inconsistent.
