Very helpful / kind service, If you're visiting the city it's a good stop for you to get breakfast and enjoy the atmosphere of Bergamo. Food is filling and coffee is delicious. Asked for toast, got toast. 10/10

We had cappuccino, tea, ice cream and several mini portions. The ice cream is exceptional, and the mini portions were really tasty. The cappuccino was good the same as tea, the staff was really friendly. The location of the cafe is also very nice with a view on the Chiesa dei Santi Bartolomeo e Stefano and its surroundings.

We went here for dinner and the food, drinks and service was great. The restaurant is beautiful and very well located. Would totally go back again.

Everything was delicious, they are guest friendly, they know how to give great hospitality. The building and the all over area has beautiful historic values and charm

Al momento la pasticceria più bella di Bergamo, pur trovandosi nella parte bassa della città. È inserita nei locali storici di' Italia ed e6stata fondata a metà ' 800. Il locale è bellissimo , vasta la scelta di pezzi dolci anche elaborati. Buono il cappuccino. Chiaramente il costo a sedere è proibitivo ma anche al banco purtroppo non si può dire economica Una sfoglia e un cappuccino 4.5€. Comunque merita. Andateci

Buono, carino posto ed economico, il menù del pranzo è molto buono. Abbiamo provato gli gnocchi e la pizza del Business Lunch. La pizza era molto formaggiosa per essere una pizza napoletana... ma il gusto e l'impasto erano fantastici. Gli gnocchi erano molto buoni con una salsa di piselli e guanciale.

Locale storico bergamasco, purtroppo di storico è rimasta anche la toilette (porta delle donne che non si chiude e in generale tutto poco curato e poco pulito)locale carino , pasticceria buona , caffetteria migliorabile come alcune pecche nel servizio, da un locale del genere mi aspettavo di più.

Pur restando un bel locale, l’interno ha una luce un po’ fioca che rende l’ambiente freddo, trovavo molto più accogliente l’arredamento del Balzer di prima del rinnovamento, inoltre il servizio potrebbe essere migliorato, così come il cappuccino poco denso e il te’ presente in poche varietà. Buone le brioches. Prezzi eccessivamente alti.

Locale storico situato al centro di Bergamo. Prezzi molto elevati che, a mio avviso, non correlano con la qualità del servizio. Tutto sommato aperitivo con spritz non male.

Due minuti seduti e già arrivano a spezzare il tavolino mentre stai bevendo il caffè. No, non era arrivato nessuno e quelli che arrivano dopo di te sono sempre in tre ma con due tavolini, quindi avete disturbato inutilmente. Ti stai per alzare (giacca, giaccone, bambina....) e ti si infilano in mezzo ai maroni per raccogliere le tazzine. Echecaxxo, ci vengo una volta l'anno lasciatemi bere il caffè in santa pace. Bella caffetteria e pasticceria in zona centrale a Bergamo. Servizio ottimo. Pasticceria buona. I bagni se fossero un pò più puliti (ero in apertura). Prezzi un po’ troppo alti a mio parere.

Came for drinks in the afternoon. Staff were really attentive and helpful so we decided to return the following day for brunch. It was very busy but staff were not rushed yet seemed to be ignoring us. We finally ordered avocado on toast was very disappointed when it arrived as it wasn’t actual avocado but what looked and tasted like supermarket guacamole and cheap bread. It was very expensive for what we actually got! Also waited ages for drinks to arrive and when they did my latte was cold. We then tried for ages to get staff attention to ask for bill. Then were given a receipt and told to queue at the till to pay though we’d seen other people paying at the table and had paid at the table the day before.

We waited 40 minutes to get a salad and risotto. We were sitting outdoors. Our table was the only occupied table in a large area outdoors.. The food was good and we enjoyed sitting alone outside during a hot afternoon. The staff was pleasant. It was my impression that they are understaffed in the kitchen. My main complaint with Balzer is with the bathrooms. All the locks have been removed and it’s likely someone will open the door while in use.

Sapevo che i prezzi qui fossero un po’ alti, ma non mi aspettavo di pagare tre euro per un cappuccino di qualità piuttosto normale. Ho speso una cifra importante, ma purtroppo la qualità non è stata all’altezza del prezzo. Per i miei gusti era anche un po’ amaro e sembrava leggermente bruciato. In ogni caso, grazie mille — spero che in futuro la qualità possa migliorare in rapporto ai prezzi.

Recensione aggiornata dopo le mie recenti visite in questo storico locale, nel cuore della mia città. Una volta era il riferimento della Bergamo bene, ma a distanza di anni è evidente a tutti che ha perduto il fascino e l'eleganza che lo caratterizzava e lo distingueva. Purtroppo manca quell'ospitalità e quella cortesia che un cliente merita, poiché sempre stato reclutato personale carente di professionalità e assolutamente non predisposto al contatto con il pubblico. I dehors sono molto invitanti, con un servizio al tavolo lento e deludente. Eccessivo e spropositato nei prezzi per un servizio ed una qualità mediocre. Leggendo altre recensioni noto con soddisfazione che molte persone hanno evidenziato le medesime lacune e difetti. Al proprietario consiglio di leggere con attenzione le recensioni negative per migliorarsi, sempre !

Se desiderate qualcosa assicuratevi di averla individuata e verificate che ci sia anche se dicono che non c’è. Ordine sbagliato. Volevo una brioche piccola che mi avevano detto finita e invece era lì. Personale non attento all’ordinazione. Per cui, nonostante i prodotti fossero buoni, il prezzo non è giustificato per un servizio così poco attento

I loved the look of this Cafe. I was craving a pistachio croissant and Googled the nearest place, that's why I visited here. However, the croissant was not fresh (maybe a day old), but I still enjoyed it. If you have a sweet tooth, then you will love the 'filled' croissant here. I thought the cream was way too sweet, and it wasn't distributed evenly throughout the croissant. (It was nothing like I had in Venice, but it settled the pistachio craving) The weather was great, so I ate at the park directly across the Cafe to enjoy the sun.

We we were in Bergamo for couple days and on our way to old town we stopped by this place for lunch . They had a business lunch menu and we got the chicken cutlet and the pasta with pecorino. The chicken cutlet was very bad . Very dry and chewy and comes apart in shreds like dry piece of cardboard. See picture. 175 years of experience to make chicken like this !! Very sad . Although the pistachio ice cream was amazing . Maybe they should just sell ice creams and stick to baking .

Qualità veramente bassa considerando i prezzi veramente esagerati di questo bar. Poco fa ho ritirato una too good to go sperando di trovare qualcosa di carino e invece ho trovato un muffin con parti mancanti che sembra mangiato per non parlare dell'aspetto orribile dei pasticcini che sembrano di una settimana fa

Spesso, essendo di passaggio, mi fermo a bere un caffè. A volte non c’è male. Ma altre… é un peccato che un locale storico sia gestito così male. Personale assolutamente impreparato, code chilometriche alla cassa per impreparazione del cassiere sia rispetto ai prodotti in vendita sia rispetto la gestione cassa. Pulizie e igiene Bagni no comment. Ragazzi senza esperienza e non affiancati da qualcuno che possa aiutarli. Non capisco come sia possibile da parte di chi gestisce questo locale storico permettere un servizio tanto pessimo. I prezzi non sono un problema, sono scelte che si possono accettare o meno. Il problema è che non sono assolutamente proporzionati al servizio offerto

Alla cassa sono stato sbeffeggiato dal cameriere soltanto perché la signora che mi accompagnava ha voluto farmi la gentilezza di offrire l’aperitivo. Una vergogna che un locale storico di Bergamo versi in uno stato di degrado tanto vergognoso. De hoc satis.

Ci siamo fermati al locale come tante altre volte in passato, ma purtroppo mi trovo a dover dire che ha perso molto, probabilmente per mala gestione. Ordini sbagliati, chiediamo una crepe al cioccolato e viene portata alla crema, té nero e ci viene portato un té verde. Per non parlare della condizione dei bagni. Il personale è gentile ma purtroppo impreparato. É un peccato che un locale storico come Il Balzer si sia ridotto così.

Premetto che i prezzi fossero indicati sulla carta e quindi non ho trovato nessuna sorpresa, ma se accetto di spendere 33 euro per una “normale” colazione ho anche la pretesa che la qualità e il servizio fossero di pari livello. Pancake di qualità bassa e con una tristissima guarnizione di topping al cioccolato. Le bavande sono state servite dopo 15 minuti dall’arrivo del cibo. Peccato, tanta storia per questo locale, probabilmente persa nel corso degli anni.

Honestly don’t come here, save yourselves from a bad experience. First things first, we waited almost 10 minutes at the entrance to be sitted, as soon as we got a table assigned, the table was unbalanced and the couch as soon as you sat down, the couch cushion moved and I almost fell. We came here to have an afternoon sweet snack and we ordered the traditional Bergamo sweet Polenta e Osei, and an alleged Sacher torte, as well as two hot chocolates. First of all, the Sacher torte was a joke, dry, small and tasteless, it literally felt like swallowing earth, the raspberry filling was practically nonexistent, and the portion was incredibly small, at the beginning upon arrival we saw on their sweets and pastries showcase that they had actual Sacher Torte, so, we naturally believed that it would actually be a piece of this, which it wasn’t. In addition, the Polenta e Osei was also pretty bad, the filling although it is supposed to be chocolate cream, butter and hazelnut, the taste of this one was like taking a bit from a block of butter, it isn’t the first time we’ve had this so we know how the taste should be, also the almond taste was incredibly strong almost non eatable. The thing that disturbed us the most was the price of everything, which is completely unjustified given the actual quality of the food. For the sweets it was €6.50 each, and €5.00 for each hot chocolate plus €0.50 for poorly served whipped cream for a total of €23.50 afternoon

So bad experience, I ordered Franciacorta, but they brought me Champagne 13€ per glass, with no added information. After paying the bill, they said they stopped offering Franciacorta per glass. So bad service.

I see in the reviews there are people who had the same experience about their rude and ignorant service: We asked for a table and the waitress impatiently pointed one and NEVER came to take order while busy serving others came after us. I had to go to cassa and complained to others to finally got our cappuccinos after almost 20minutes. To the ignorant waitresses: Serving people is your job. You may not like it but at least be worthy for your paycheck.

I do not recommend it to tourists! Pleasant in appearance, but a completely different impression after visiting. Today I was deceived simply because I am a tourist and do not understand Italian. My family and I ordered three ice creams. One ice cream flavor for the baby, two ice cream flavors for me, and two ice cream flavors for my wife. The prices are clearly visible on the stand, and then I translated - for two flavors of ice cream the cost is 3.50 euros. For one taste per serving - 2.50. It’s just that the receipt says that my wife and I bought three flavors of ice cream, not two. I will never believe that this is just a mistake and the person pressed the wrong button. This is very unpleasant and not at all about money. I wrote a review to the company email but did not receive a response from the company. That's why I'm writing a review here. An absolutely unpleasant experience. And we didn’t finish the ice cream; even the child refused to eat it. It just doesn't taste good.

Food was extremely expensive for the proposition… I paid 19e for the salmon tartare that is on the picture. It was not even seasoned… the sanitary are extremely badly maintained. It is sad for the location it has, they do not respect their chance
