Opinions de Doppio Malto Bergamo
I returned to Doppio Malto after some time, and I must say the experience was truly excellent. We ordered a tagliata: tender, flavorful, and cooked exactly as requested. I was also impressed by the vegetable side dishes—everything was freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and well-seasoned. Attentive service, reasonable wait times, and a pleasant atmosphere. Clean restaurant, friendly and professional staff. Overall, a very satisfying dinner. I will gladly return.
A new restaurant opened near Chorus Life. It's attractively presented in a modern setting, shared with the Rosso Pomodoro pizzeria, but it's an independent establishment. The huge screen is great for watching games or sporting events. I was in a rush for lunch, so I grabbed a sandwich and a drink to go. The service was quick and friendly. The sandwich (with tartare) and fries were excellent. I wasn't entirely sold on the accompanying sauce, however. Still, it's a nice place; we'll definitely be back, especially given the convenient location.
The recently opened venue is minimalist, colorful, and modern, echoing the style that distinguishes ChorusLife. This review is based on three different drinks (an aperitif and two meals). The aperitif was enjoyable, the appetizers were good, and the classic cocktails (the signature ones were decent) were also good. Dinner was also quite satisfying, although the meat in the tartare burger was a bit cold. The burger with 'nduja and burrata, however, was very good. Prices were reasonable, and the service was discreet but quick.
I came last night with my friends around 11 PM. As for the service and food, I have to agree with many other reviews that gave it one star... The only one that deserves a full 5 stars are the cocktails by bartender Gaetano (forgive me if I remember his name incorrectly). Very attentive, fast, kind, and professional. A real shame, I don't understand why all the staff isn't trained this way! It would be a perfect venue for all events.
I visited this pub, which shares a location with Rossopomodoro, for a dinner with colleagues. Having booked in advance, we were given a table for over 20 people (the only downside was that since all the tables were pushed together close to the sofas, anyone who needed to reach them had to slide around the table on the sofas). The service was quick, and the food was average. The pizzas were not to be ordered, especially since there's a pizzeria in the same building. The prices were high for what we got. Noteworthy is the service, which, despite the 10:00 PM closing time, left us waiting until after 11:00 PM.
Good points, but there's room for improvement. I'd like to start by commending the wait staff, who, despite the unexpected influx of people after Pucci's show, found themselves having to manage the room by moving tables and consequently "searching" for them to deliver the various orders. We had the breaded chicken cut into thin strips (good, but too much onion compared to the practically nonexistent other vegetables), the mini fried gnocco was embarrassing (dry, flattened, and the cold cuts were cut too thick), and a hamburger, which was good, but again, the added mortadella was very thick, and the bun was small for the size of the burger. There's good points, but the kitchen definitely has a lot of room for improvement.
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. My husband and I had a veggie burger with fries, and it was very good. The kids' menu, however, needs a complete overhaul. My girls had a beef burger, but half of it was left on their plate because they said it was bitter. I'm a vegetarian and wasn't able to try it, but I trust my daughter, especially since she always likes everything and it's very rare for her to leave food on her plate. My other daughter had a pizza, definitely frozen, not very good, and soggy on the inside. She also left more than half of it, and we barely finished it because, as I repeat, it wasn't that great. More care should be taken with the little ones' food, too. Good desserts.
They can improve. Very nice, modern location, shared with rossopomodoro. The only entrance is not visible through the security doors. A large space with several free seats. They offered us a table for two, but there were three of us, with half the room free. The tables are carefully set, the atmosphere pleasant and not noisy. The Wi-Fi doesn't work; we connected to the Wi-Fi outside. The service is fast, the staff aren't very friendly, but I think this is due to their lack of experience. The average bill for lunch and the quality is high, all things considered, but they can and must improve. The cover charge of €2 is outdated, and it comes with popcorn. Compared to other comments, I'd add that high chairs were available. Parking is not their fault: €3.80 for one hour.
I went today with some friends. The first thing I noticed was the dirty and greasy glass (it can happen), which I actually had changed. The waitress then took our order and brought us fries first, and only a little later the drinks... which were also wrong. When the sandwiches arrived, mine was missing bacon. I mentioned it, and the waitress came back to tell me they hadn't put any because... they ran out. However, no one had warned me before delivering the dish, and considering it was around 12:00, I wondered how they managed to run out of bacon at lunchtime. It would have been fair to let me know right away so I could have decided whether to accept or change the sandwich. My friend received a "chicken tagliata" (chicken cutlet), which was actually a piece of boiled chicken, chopped into small pieces, with all the skin still attached. The other friend was served two chicken legs that were practically raw. The food was poor, and several dishes were returned, not just ours. Nice location, but terrible experience: inexperienced waiters, poor quality food and cuisine (except for the good beer), and prices too high for what they offer.
We went there on Sunday for lunch (first weekend of opening). The place is shared with rossopomodoro. It's unclear where the entrance is because there's no front door, but it looks more like an emergency door with a simple handle, which was also accidentally locked at the time. The place is very spacious inside, and they sat three of us at a small round table near the beer taps. What can I say? I saw the staff in complete disarray: endless problems with the beers, incorrect orders, the "bosses" who didn't know how to handle the situation, the waiters were like crazy. A lot of wind blows through those tables due to the influx of people; they're tiny tables for three people. They don't have high chairs, no internet, and no Wi-Fi. The Sicilian appetizer didn't arrive because it was sold out (we weren't notified immediately, but after half an hour). In the end, they didn't come by to take our dessert or coffee orders, so we left. I've seen people who made reservations and didn't have a table for seven or more people. What a shame to open something when the service it can provide isn't ready yet.
If you have to go to the theater, DON'T go unless you have at least 2.5-3 hours. We arrived at 7:15 PM, ordered at 7:30 PM, and at 8:45 PM the burger still hadn't arrived... We left without having eaten, with a box delivered to the cashier... The service was too slow and disorganized. The box was beautiful, though...
I can't describe the experience, except as absolutely negative. We went before a show, 7:30 PM, many like us... but we felt like we were lucky because we managed to get a seat before everyone else came in. We sat down, dirty cutlery, chipped glass, menus???? Only one of two, it looked like he was passing away... it was torn and worn beyond belief. Disgusting... so dirty!! We ordered because we no longer have any other option for dinner before the show. 45 minutes and... nothing, we never had dinner. We asked several times, but they said the wait was 15 minutes, but you could see from the faces of those waiters that they didn't even know. But what could you expect... they didn't even know the table numbers, but because the numbers were assigned randomly to the tables! How can you work like this? I come from the restaurant world, and I may be very critical... but really, nothing was working in this place. Lots of tables were in the same situation as us, and the dishes came out every now and then, but slowly... really slowly. In a place where you know you'll have a pre-show crowd, you can't afford to work like this; you absolutely have to be organized. NB: If you think you can save yourself by eating pizza at the place next door, "ROSSO POMODORO," forget it; it's the same situation. Plan ahead and go eat somewhere else outside of this center. It's a shame, because Chorus Life is truly a beautiful facility and should offer spaces capable of sustaining its level.
Excellent food and a charming atmosphere. The worst service I've ever seen: waiters who leave without knowing which table they're supposed to go to, missing dishes, and customers who are notified until the last minute, an hour and a half wait. A humiliating and humiliating experience for us and for the staff, who are clearly not managed or organized in the slightest.
It's not the fault of those poor, hard-working guys, but they're probably poorly organized. They didn't get anything right, practically disastrous, but the blame simply lies with those in charge. When it came time to pay, a woman, probably the manager, came over and yelled at the girl to close the cashier's door and go talk somewhere else because other people had to pay. An embarrassing situation, like the entire service. Definitely not worth returning.
We had lunch today, and to say it was disappointing would be a compliment, and now I'm explaining it all. Point one: We wanted to go to Rosso Pomodoro. We went in and asked for a seat. The waiter said, "I have a seat over here." We said yes, but didn't specify that there were two restaurants with ONLY ONE ENTRY. I find it in bad taste not to specify this, especially since the waiters are the same in both restaurants. We went in at 1:15 PM and were told there was a 30-minute wait. Okay, so we were left at a dirty table that we had to have cleaned. Dirty cutlery and greasy glasses... at 1:30 PM they came to take our order... The last course, after I got up to say it wasn't there, was at 3:00 PM. UNCOMMENTABLE!!! Cold chicken steak, a great grilled piece, a real highlight, arrived on a grill to keep it warm, the grill turned off 🤦🏼♀️, the cold pan, and finally the raw chicken... good tartare, and the eggplant parmigiana wasn't bad either. It's pointless for you to keep writing in your review responses that our opinion is important and that you take it into account, because instead of taking it into account, you should be applying them. Unfortunately, I wouldn't go back and I don't recommend it.
A horrifying experience, to say the least. After a 40-minute wait for a Margherita and a Caprese, we asked how much longer we had to wait and were told at least another 20 minutes. We decided to leave, so I went to the cashier to pay for our drinks. I pointed out that we hadn't eaten and that the cover charge should have been removed (paper placemat, untouched cutlery, no bread or breadsticks). I was told that it was noted on the order and that I should go and speak to the owner. I say that after 40 minutes of waiting, I didn't go looking for the owner, and the cashier didn't go and call her, but instead presented me with the bill with a €6 cover charge (there were three of us). You gained €6 but lost customers, who, I remind you, are the ones who should leave your establishment happy and satisfied. Not recommended.
We went to eat at the Double Malt before a show. It took them 50 minutes to bring me a salad. The waiters, all very kind, wandered between the tables, not knowing who to take our orders to. Probably because the tables are numbered in greyhound numbers. In my opinion, we paid an outrageous amount for two salads and two beers. If you ever need to eat before a show, do it at home!
A shocking experience in 51 years of life, I have never had a restaurant not let me choose the menu... I was at a dinner where there were pre-established menus where you could eat pizza, hamburgers for €35 (I chose the hamburger menus). The choice was between three hamburgers, one of which was vegan. I asked for a glass of wine, I couldn't choose, either I took a bottle or drank the house wine. Being the only one drinking wine, I settled for the house wine which was absolutely UNDRINKABLE, practically vinegar!! The music was so loud I couldn't speak to the person in front of me, in fact, when I left the place I was speechless... As soon as we arrived, we had to go to the cashier. There were the usual elastic bands to divide the spaces. And the gentleman, who I believe was the organizer, without moving, the band asked me to pass within 10 cm of the wall between the band and the wall. (I stood to the side, and managed to pass because I weigh 43 kg, but I told the gentleman that if I weighed 150 kg I would never have been able to pass, to make him understand that he would have to move the band. But the gentleman didn't understand!! Because he doesn't know how to do his job!) When we got to the cashier, there were two of us, the cashier asked us for €100. We looked at her and asked her why we haven't eaten yet???! She replied, there are two menus: the full menu, €50, or the hamburger, €35... So, I said, "Excuse me, but I pay after I eat. I don't even know what's on the menu!" You can choose either fish or meat. In the end, to avoid being thrown into a menu where I definitely wouldn't have eaten the entire thing because I didn't know what was on it (and I repeat, I've never paid before eating!!!), I chose the hamburger menu, €35 including a glass of house wine!!!! It was a terrifying evening. I should add that I've organized dinners and worked in nightclubs for over twenty years, so I know how to organize evenings and I strongly advise anyone against going there! I politely asked for a glass of Negramaro (which was on the wine menu!) and they told me I had to order the whole bottle. So I asked what other wines they had by the glass and they told me...none!!!!! FAILED
We went to Doppio Malto for dinner on Friday, October 10th, and unfortunately, we won't be returning. We ordered a chicken and an octopus burger: the chicken was okay, but the burger was truly inedible! It was cold, poorly assembled, and the octopus was extremely tough and rubbery. The fries were even worse: cold, soft, and stale. The service was nonexistent: the waiters were too busy setting up a huge table on the indoor stage to notice the customers at the tables. No one came to check if everything was okay or to collect our plates. In the end, we got up and went to pay directly at the cashier, very disappointed. A place that truly leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Never again. Highly not recommended.
