Locale eccezionale nel centro di Bergamo bassa. Si mangia cibo buonissimo con un servizio eccellente. Titolati e camerieri attenti e molto professionali. Una gentilezza fuori dal comune! Piatti veramente squisiti dove si può sentire la qualità delle materie prime. L’ambiente poi che dire… qui è Natale tutto l’anno con la sua atmosfera rilassante e coccolosa.

Sono venuta in questo ristorante sotto consiglio della gentilissima proprietaria del b&b dove ho pernottato, ho ordinato i casoncelli, veramente buonissimi e la polenta con funghi porcini, sono rimasta molto soddisfatta, i prezzi sono in linea con la qualità dei prodotti che offrono. Sono solo rimasta un po’ sbigottita nel trovare un ambiente tutto addobbato a tema natalizio in pieno giugno 😅 ma va bene così, dopotutto sono andata per mangiare bene ed è quello che ho ricevuto, del buon cibo!

Questo ristorante, dove è sempre Natale, è fantastico! Ci fate sentire a casa non appena entriamo nel vostro ristorante. Cibo preparato con amore, piatti originali e gustosi e servizio perfetto! Tutto il personale di servizio è molto preparato sul menu e sa come consigliarvi, anche per quanto riguarda i vini. Siamo stati oggi a mangiare a pranzo in questo ristorante davvero caratteristico... Sin dall'accoglienza si sono dimostrate persone molto cordiali e a disposizione del cliente... Posto tipico per consumare la vera cucina bergamasca... Abbiamo mangiato due primi davvero molto gustosi e saporiti (casoncelli e foiade)... Come secondi un involtino di verza con polenta taragna e un tortino di polenta con formaggio bergamasco e funghi... Avremmo voluto assaggiare anche i dolci, ma data la sostanziosità dei primi e dei secondi non siamo stati in grado di ordinarli per impossibilità a consumarli... Luogo caldo, accogliente, servizio veloce nonostante il locale fosse pieno di clienti... Abbiamo portato con noi la nostra cagnolina e l'hanno accolta nel migliore dei modi... Prezzi adeguati... Momentaneamente il servizio pizzeria è sospeso, ma se si vuole mangiare qualcosa di tipico bergamasco è l'ideale... Mi ispirava anche un risotto al vino rosso (che di sicuro prenderò la prossima volta perché vedendolo negli altri tavoli aveva una bella presentazione e un buon profumo)... Ci tornerò prossimamente...

I would say the waitors are very kind and the owner very generous. Exactly what I needed for my short trip in Bergamo. You should try the local Donizetti cake, delicious.

This is a surprising delight I found with my brother Greg, set back off the main avenue near the station. Despite its old-fashioned look , the waiter was professional, and the food seemed authentic local fare, not just your usual pastas. We chose two mains of pork knuckle with potato skins, and braised beef with creamy polenta. The side veggie dish of boiled zucchini, carrots and potato was unimaginative, but did evoke a real farmhouse meal! Our desserts of Panna cotta and cheesecake were great. But sorry no photos of the food-- just my empty wine glass, coffee and the free light limoncello. And very affordable !

If you want something local and traditional you should not avoid the bowl (ciotola) of authentic Italian food. At first glance it's doesn't seems much, but it's saturated. I was almost full but couldn't resist and ordered traditional polenta. Pasta and cheese lovers will be satisfied. Still want pizza? There are other places which this review don't cover. Service was quick, willing to give recommendations and professional. Payment possibilities both in cash and card.

Absolutely amazing food. Some of the reviews made us sceptical, but they couldn't be further from the truth. The pasta first courses were out of this world, honestly the best pasta I have ever eaten. Was nice to try traditional Italian mains instead of the usual pasta and pizza. Accompanied by a lovely red wine. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. If you are considering a visit you will not be disappointed, best meal we've had in Bergamo.

Abbiamo scelto un luogo dove mangiare a Bergamo prima di salire in città alta...scelta azzeccata; locale carino ( anche se un pochino retró e completamente in versione natalizia fuori dal periodo), pulito e molto accogliente. Il personale è molto gentile e presente. Cibo semplice e molto buono. Anche se all'apparenza può sembrare "turistico" lo consigliamo.

Nel complesso si mangia bene, il brasato con polenta taragna era molto buono e abbondante. Purtroppo non posso dire lo stesso dei casoncelli che erano molto asciutti, sia nel condimento che nel ripieno.

Locale accogliente e ben arredato. Servizio gradevole e veloce. La specialità sono le "ciotole", insalatone miste che però non abbiamo ordinato. Abbiamo optato per due pizze, prodotto nella norma, niente di eccezionale. Cani ben accetti.

Ristorante storico in Bergamo bassa. Personalmente preferivo La Ciotola di un tempo che offriva anche pizze, ora assenti dal menu’, molto buone. L’ambiente è poco illuminato e le decorazioni natalizie, che apprezzerei molto in periodo invernale, risultano a mio parere non sense in primavera, suggerisco semmai un cambio di decorazioni stagionale con quelle pasquali. La polenta taragna promossa, mentre i casoncelli così così. Le porzioni, in particolare dei dolci, sono piccole in rapporto al prezzo. Lascio questa recensione si intende in ottica costruttiva verso un ristorante che apprezzavo molto.

After delicious pasta, we decided to order desserts. The tiramisu was delicious, but the second dessert called "casoncelli dolci della Ciotola" was terrible. Three pieces of "casoncelli" made with shugar paste, which tasted like a sugar cube and cost €8.50 - this should disappear from the menu as it is a typical tourist trap.

Food and staff is good. I went there after reading reviews on Google and I think the place is overrated. This probably is on account of food being cheaper than the ones in that locality. Menu of most of the Italian cibo restaurants in Bergamo are similar. I had the opportunity to try the restaurant of Best Western Piemonte where though the prices are slightly more than Ristorante Pizzeria Ciotola inspite of not so nice staff service and the bread they serve but the food is amazing and tastier than Ristorante Ciotola. I would definitely recommend Best Western Piemonte's restaurant over Ristorante Ciotola.

No, not to recommend - sorry! Strange concept to keep the Christmas decoration all over the year. Okay, it will let the one or other come again, but only when the Pasta will be better than ours. Al dente means ‚having a bite‘ - and not that the hart noodle saw 2 minutes boiled water only. It was so hard to bite, that a dentist would not recommend to eat it (sacasm end) ;). The sauce was okay - but looking is not everything in food - right? ..you should try others in Bergamo. Very sad… the service tried its best - the chef made it impossible to get more stars than 2!!
