I really like this mexican place, to me it’s authentic! Good price as well: 2 drinks, 2 quesadillas, 1 taco, 4 flautas for 24$ and it’s cash only. The place is small with a good vibe!

Homemade flour tortillas! Possibly one of the only places in Spanish Harlem that makes their own tortillas. They are known for their quesadillas, but will remain in your memory because of their genuine joy and humble spirit. This place is a foodie gem. If you find yourself in this part of town, don’t be swayed by the esthetics of other places—go here because the food and the experience is far greater than any other superficial motive.

For a late night Mexican snack, head over to this place. The lady is very patient and serves food with love. Where else do you find a $3 taco with such great sauces on the side. I had 4 of them and I was full after that. I didn't care much about the cleanliness or hygiene in the sitting area as she does everything alone. My gf ordered enchiladas and they were great too!

Quesadillas Doña Maty 228 E. 116th. St. New York, NY 10029 Package Meal Deal: Tacos 12 ounce soda Located on East 116th Street in Spanish Harlem is a locally owned Mexican restaurant. As I was passing by, these two sidewalk billboards caught my eye and I had to give this eatery a try. This cost effective deal includes three tacos and a 12 ounce can of soda. Tacos: Each taco is sprinkled with onions, cilantro in a soft taco shell with a lime and horseradish on the side. It comes with a protein of your choice. Smother your tacos with red sauce or green sauce; the choice is yours. 12 Ounce Soda: I washed my meal down with a refreshing can of cola. If you do not wish to have this type of drink, many other 12 ounce cans are available. For a small dining area, the interior is adorned with lots of Spanish wall art. There is also a variety of decorations hanging from the ceiling. I had a great meal for a great deal. Went to a concert and we were looking for a good spot to eat,my cousin recommended this quesadilla place. First time coming to this place. Interior is nothing impressive actually is pretty small I can see it being busy because small entrance . Menu very simple with great options which I think is fantastic , most Mexican restaurants have pamphlets of food options and can be confusing but this place keeps it simple and to the point. They say they hand make the quesadillas which all restaurant should make them handmade but that’s a different story. The ordering process very simple to the point and they bring your order to the table in the next room. The flavors was very delicious food was excellent reminds me of a old taco stand in Mexico with their colorful plastic plates and their spicy hot sauce. And was also great is that this place closes at four in the morning so when I showed up at 2:30am close to 3, I was able to still enjoy late night food. I highly recommend eating your food in the place on the spot tortillas can get soggy or even hard if you wait too long to eat them. I highly recommend if you are in the area for a traditional quesadillas or a taco. As I seen other photos the prices have risen so I uploaded a updated menu .

Got 2 bistec quesadillas and jarrito was $30 but I gave the cashier $40.. she didn’t even bother giving back my change!! She sat me down asap, food was bland and when I’m at the table, I found a used cotton swab!!

I usually come to this spot and the times I’ve came the food was good but I came today and it was horrible … the food was so salty

This place has decent food but the customer service is the worst I have ever seen, so unprofessional. They messed up my order for second time and they didn’t even offer to deliver the right order to my address. I called and they told me to come back to the restaurant and they would change it. Not even a refund since I have to go all the way back? I have never seen something like this before. Will never be going back. There’s a taco place right next to it and employees are way nicer, so I will be going there instead. I don’t recommend anyone going here.

I walked into Dona Matey Tacos expecting food — instead, I got a front-row seat to blatant discrimination. The woman at the register smiled, joked, and spoke warmly in Spanish to every Hispanic customer ahead of me. When it was my turn? Stone-cold silence. No greeting. No acknowledgment. Nothing. I asked for steak tacos — she looked me dead in the eye and said they had nothing I asked for. At a taco place. No steak. No apology. No respect. Just the clear message: “We don’t serve people like you.” This isn’t just bad service — it’s targeted and intentional. If you believe in fairness, dignity, or basic human decency, don’t spend a single dollar here.

i was a client that went almost 3 times a week even though i lived in the bronx but recently the service has been very bad especially Doña maty's daughters. They are very rude and treat you like you are less of a person. I can't lie the food is great and the place is good to dine in. I've heard many people talk about how doña maty does not pay her workers and that was the deciding factor for me.
