The Berkeley Yacht Club is a membership-driven community of yachting (primarily sail) enthusiasts. Members are knowledgeable and open to sharing stories of trips past and also planned for the future. The management staff is extremely amenable and considerate. This place feels like home.

It’s a club for sailors and very friendly. There’s 24-hour access with an honors bar. Races on Friday nights in the summer. Dinner after. You don’t need a boat to race ...you can join as crew. Upstairs is an office for members to use. And the view is to die for. Beautiful sunsets and lively conversation. Liberal folks. It’s Berkeley, after all!

Best sunset views on the bay, bar none. Hobnob with the local intelligentsia as BYC is the last stop of Berkeley PhD’s before finally flinging themselves into the bay. Friday night summer beer-can racing is a great place to get out and get wet then follow with a burger (or other delicious dinner) at the club! Sunday chowder races are also bay fixtures and prizes are nifty chowder cups. Low-key and unpretentious, despite all the brainiacs!

A real community, replete with skilled, intelligent, experienced and generous salty folk (and of course the rest of the membership). Most any brave soul can show up and race on a big boat on a normal Friday or Sunday. Casual friendly vibe.

I felt racially profiled being there I cannot get any service as me and another person was sitting at the bar at the same time and the whole time I set there for about 15 minutes and could not get service as five other Caucasian walked up and receive Services before me and not once was I ask how can I help you with what you want or wait for a second I think if anybody is of color and it's not Caucasian they should not attend that place. And I can say that without being racist because I am white and black and I know racism when I see it and endure it.
