Opinions de Yume Mori Matcha Berkeley
Small, cute, and aesthetically pleasing cafe. The workers were very kind and helpful! A great place to stop by if you’re walking around Berkeley or in-between classes. Definitely recommend to try the ichigo hojicha, it’s delicately sweet, toasty/nutty and blended well. The crepe was also very good, reminded me of the local shop crepes in Japan! Definitely worth the try. 💕💕
I have to say that Pete, the owner of this Matcha Cafe really knows his matcha! Yume Mori brings the traditional taste of Japanese ceremonial grade Matcha to Berkeley! Yume Mori’s cafe from their understated decor to their beautifully crafted and tasty drinks and crepes is reminiscent of a Matcha shop you would see walking on the shotengai in Kamakura. This cafe is worth standing in line for! Thanks for bringing me such a nostalgic experience!
Highly recommend the Matcha Tiramisu. It was tasty and all the ingredients make it worth the price. I didn’t give a perfect 5 for the atmosphere because I think some improvements can be made with the decor.
This is the most honest review I've ever had. The shop is located not far from BART Downtown Berkeley. Upon arriving at the shop front, you'll be greeted by a menu with beautiful artwork. Walking into the shop is very minimalist. The menu I tried was the Coco Matcha Cloud. The flavor is deep and not too sweet. It's definitely good for health-conscious people. Another one I tried was the Custard Cream Brule Crepe. I personally liked it very much. The crepe batter was very delicious. The cream was just the right amount of sweet. Finally, I can say that I will definitely come back to try all the menus.
Great matcha, travelled from SJC to try this out. Didn’t disappoint! Got the basic matcha here, really liked it. They gave out matcha softies in cups as samples too, instant matcha ice cream love unlocked!
Very cute, trendy matcha place. Got the matcha tiramisu and it had good matcha flavor and was very creamy. Not much seating but some outdoor chairs.
The best matcha I tried in the whole 10 years I have living growing up around Bay Area!! never have I tried such tasty well served matcha! 10/10 RECOMMEND.!!!!
The crepes were amazing!! 10/10 recommend the Ichigo crepe. The matcha and hojicha was a bit pricey but worth it in my opinion.

Loved their matcha drink. Hope to come back for more and try a crepe sometime. Unfortunate that it’s only available on weekends from 1pm till they run out.
Love the taste of matcha + oat milk + strawberry puree. It is very refreshing and light. I personally enjoy refreshing taste over rich and creamy drinks so I looooove it!!!
such a new aesthetic matcha location with refined quality. every drink is hand whisked
Lovely atmosphere, got my matcha pretty quickly given the crowd. Great quality matcha.
This is a good spot to find good quality matcha drink in terms of the matcha itself and the process of making it. With the matcha hype, most places just add a matcha drink and don’t really think twice about it so it’s nice to have a place that puts care into it. I’ve gotten the plain matcha and the tiramisu matcha, both well made and delicious. The crepes are also really great, I’ve gotten the strawberry banana and their custard (with strawberry), crepes are perfectly made and super filling. It does get quite busy on the weekends, but I don’t think I’ve ever waited an absurdly long time after ordering. Everyone that works there is super sweet! Maybe just a few more tables or benches outside would be helpful during the weekends but otherwise lovely place!
Tasty matcha, very refreshing. Order at kiosk style place but there is a seating area outside. The strawberry matcha was very good and not too sweet. Thank you!
Seriously one of the loveliest iced hojichas I've had! I got an iced hojicha latte with regular sweetness and oat milk. The regular sweetness is pretty light, which I like, but they also have syrup you can add yourself if you want it sweeter. The hojicha was creamy and smooth, and the staff were super friendly. The space inside is very lovely - minimalist vibes. Not really a place to sit, except two small benches to wait for your drink. Next time I want to try the tiramisu hojicha, which has marscapone topping, as well as the crepes, which are only available after 1 pm. The line wasn't too long, but I came on a Monday morning before classes started. Overall, a welcome addition to the matcha options in the area :)
There was always a line when I passed by, so I decided to give it a try! I ordered the Cold Whisk Matcha with shizu matchia, oat milk and regular sweet. The drink had a rich umami flavor with an earthy taste and a light bitterness. It tasted great but the regular sweet was too sweet for me. Next time, I might choose no sugar or they offer more sweetness options. I would also like to try their Koku matcha drink next time!
The matcha drink was delicious. However, maybe because it’s still in the soft-opening stage, the hygiene was really poor. For example, I saw an employee in the background touch their hair with gloved hands and then go straight to making a crepe. Also, I never once saw them wash the bowl used to prepare the matcha drink, and the ice machine door was left open. Since it was an open kitchen, the staff were uncomfortably close to customers, and there was no barrier, which made me worry about droplets or other foreign substances getting into the drinks. But drink was very good!!
I tried the Hojicha Tiramisu, it's like a hojicha latte but comes with tiramisu cream and a biscoff cookie. You can also switch to oat milk with no additional charge for those who are lactose intolerant. The drink is super creamy and delicious, but you can only choose no sweet or sweet. The sweetened one is more like a dessert drink. Service was relatively quick despite a line, and the cafe has some indoor benches and some outdoor seating.
Yummy crepe. Not too sweet but very fresh. Matcha and hochija drinks very authentic. Next time I think we’ll add a little sugar.
I got the coconut matcha and thought the flavor was well balanced. the store is small with limited seating, but while waiting you can watch the staff hand whisk the matcha lol! I wish the matcha was more strong but will be coming back again to try their crepes! I was shocked at how tiny their cups were so I do not know if it was worth the price T-T.

Really cute matcha place offering crepes and many drink options. I like that they have different matcha powders to choose from for the drinks (at least they did with my drink, the extra rich matcha latte). The matcha is pretty strong and the regular sweet was about right for me (although I do wish they offered a less sweet option). My drink was "extra rich matcha," which was apparently new to the menu, though, so other drinks may not be as matcha-forward. It was about $12, though. Yikes! But it was fun to try it. 8 grams of matcha powder made it pretty strong. I got the Shizu matcha powder, which was more umami-forward. We also tried their creme brulee crepe, which was very good, but pretty expensive. You can tell they put a lot of care into making the crepes. I wasn't a big fan of the crunchy balls in it, though. They got stuck in my teeth and kind of ruined the texture of the crepe for me. I wish they had more seating outside or had a bigger place. It's pretty small and gets very cramped in there when the line gets long. I will definitely be back in the future to try their other drinks and maybe get a different crepe. Definitely one of the better matcha spots in Berkeley, in my opinion.
I tried this place 3 times. I like the double matcha (mie) since it is strong, creamy, & flavourful. The strawberry matcha was off my list since it tasted ok. They always ran out of crepes around 2-3pm. So I couldn’t get it for the first 2 times. We got our crepes the last time since we came early but be prepared: your pocket could burn out here. *The cost of a crepe is around $10.95 plus tax. We paid almost $26 for 2 crepes plus tips. The crepes were pre make so it was cold. I couldn’t finish one crepe since it was too creamy & I got indigestion later. Recommend buy 1 crepe to share for 2 people. *The drinks here also are expensive & very small. Overall, it’s a place to taste matcha sometimes, not often since it’s expensive here. *** The downside is that they only have 1 kiosk to order & it took 1 customer (especially new one) around 7min to order while all baristas were watching, staring, rolling eyes & laughing at them. I didn’t like that kind of services.
I really wanted to like this place but I was actually a bit disappointed. The matcha LOOKS super good, but it was pretty watery imo. It tasted like my matcha at home after I finished half of my cup, and left it sitting for 5 mins. If that makes sense?? We got the double matcha which didn't taste like much ); A melted iced down matcha? Sad that I didn't like it. Pretty long line, and you just order on a kiosk. They have outdoor seating which is a plus.
i got a hot unsweetened hojicha latte and a double matcha latte. i feel like the matcha powder they use isn’t very strong. the latte doesn’t taste milky or anything like that, but the matcha taste wasn’t that strong.

The hojicha latte seemed very diluted yet still on the bitter side. The double matcha latte was ok with light sweetness. I added extra matcha which came out to a little over 10$ and it was not worth it. I think the crepe was the better thing out of this trip. The basic matcha crepe was nice, but the filling gets overwhelming after the first couple of bites. Would revisit only for the crepes.

Great matcha and crepe. Could probably say it’s one of the best matcha places in the bay. But the service so so slow. There were about 6 employees but all of them were so slow so the wait was around 45 minutes.
The ambiance and the aesthetics of the place are nice, but the actual quality of the matcha and the drink is terrible. For 7-8 dollars you get bitter matcha that’s frankly hard to finish. The service was decent but that’s about it.
I never bothering leaving reviews but was appalled by the hojicha latte I had here. You pay $7 for basically a cup of milk. Can’t speak for the Matcha but do NOT get the hojicha latte unless you’re willing to shell out for extra shots of hojicha or whatever they’re peddling. So disappointed
Another mid addition to the already over flow of matcha places made for TikTok. Greeted by a chownow screen because the owner wants to cut labor. Small broken down space, matcha drink menu design is minimal. Cost effective and made for TikTok and reels Hoping once business levels out it fails or struggles but usually with things like this the owner is able to repeat the cycle anyways. Mid flavorless matcha, as mild of a leaf as can be for mass approval. Agave as the base sweetener is interesting tho
