El restaurante tiene una decoración con el aspecto de una tienda de ultramarinos antigua muy bonita y sirven en la carta varios platos de conservas que ellos elaboran. Pedimos croquetas caseras y Magret de pato para compartir y de principal un chuletón con patatas fritas. El Magret estaba delicioso y el chuletón no se quedaba atrás. De postre pedimos una torrija y una tarta de queso manchego con helado de queso Idiazabal que tenían un sabor muy intenso.

Increíble experiencia gastronómica. El trato fue muy cercano y atento. Repetiremos sin duda.

Un imprescindible en Bilbao!!! Otro de los restaurantes que degustamos en nuestra visita a la ciudad. Comenzaré diciendo que la atención es inmejorable, desde el primer momento fueron muy amables y nos recomendaron y explicaron todo lo que necesitábamos. Por otro lado, la comida es una brutalidad, salimos de allí rodando y con la sensación de haber comido calidad. Sin duda todos sus productos son de primerísima calidad y por ello tuvimos muchas dudas a la hora de pedir, pero nos decantamos por sus croquetas caseras de huevo, el foie, las setas salteadas y lógicamente carne, chuletón y solomillo para probar, todo riquísimo. Después pasamos a los postres, me sorprendió que no todos eran caseros, quizás es el pero que le pondría, pero es cierto que estaban también muy buenos. Como le dije al dueño, amenazamos con volver. Visita obligada.

Lugar con un encanto especial. Una tienda de ultramarinos en la que puedes comer, además de .en las zonas interiores. La comida muy buena, en particular la chuleta y el salmón ahumado que elaboran ellos. El servicio muy bueno. Lugar al que siempre voy cuando visito Bilbao.

Inclreible! Espectacular, para volver. No hay ninguna pega...si tendría que poner alguna..por decir algo..que no tiene barra para tomar una cerveza, antes de sentarte a comer o cenar..pero eso es lo de menos! Por todo lo demás! Espectacular!!🫶

Tuvimos una comida increíble. Todo estuvo genial: el bistec a la parrilla, el vino tinto, el pan, la ensalada y los postres fueron fantásticos. Por dentro es acogedor, con la historia del edificio obvia y amables propietarios, gerencia y camareros. Una experiencia muy feliz.

We read about this place on Culture Trip, usually a bit of a go-to when stuck for choice particularly with eating out in a new place. We’d had our pintxos fill and fancied something special for our final night. This place really didn’t disappoint. The space itself is wonderfully charming and kooky, with tables placed in different rooms surrounded by walls adorned with deli products, olive oils, all kinds of alcohol, trinkets and basque memorabilia. We immediately felt comfortable despite it being a quiet Tuesday evening. And away from the busy tourist hotspots of the Old Town we got the feeling we were dining amongst locals as the place filled up, the Maître d explaining he found our booking easily as we were the only non Spanish name on the system. We opted for a few of the 1/2 portions to share and of course that famous ribeye. The smoked duck was seriously incredible, as were the Bay of Biscay anchovies in a pool of amazing olive oil with simple roasted pepper and a few olives. We didn’t have time to consider bread before it was offered and brought out - 2 individual crusty rolls, warmed through. The bonito tuna salad was fantastic too, in a delicious vinaigrette and frankly enormous for a 1/2 portion! No complaints there. Then came to steak, sizzling on a cast iron skillet and cooked perfectly with that amazing aged taste you get with matured on the bone cuts. It was washed down with a few glasses of txakoli for myself and for my partner what we assumed to be a house red. We glanced the wine list but what was quickly poured into my partners glass was big, bold, oaky and just perfect. We honestly felt like we were at the mercy of staff that just knew how to get the job done. No stuffiness, no pretence, just amazing produce and hardworking staff. As I mentioned it was quiet and we were admittedly thankful for a large party popping in after us to liven up the atmosphere a bit but that shouldn’t put anyone off booking. I can imagine it’s absolutely electric during a busy lunch rush or at the weekend. Final bill was astoundingly reasonable for the amount we ate and how we were treated. Really a perfect and special end to our time in Bilbao.

After six days walking the Camino del Norte, we had a great diner @casarufo Bilbao last friday 31-05-2024 with people we’ve met during this Camino. She heard from a college about this restaurant and it was thruley a wonderful experience! The entourage is great, like you’re having dinner in a shop or wine cellar. When you enter the restaurant you think you’re at the butchers place, but in the back it looks like a real restaurant with several tables. And of course the food was great. Not high cuisine but just like food needs to be,: pure, simple and tasteful. We’ve had a great meal and wine; we took the option to share for 65 euro’s each, including a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine and two bottles of water and coffee. Not cheap for Spanish food, but worth it! We ate at 15.30, so it was a late lunch, but so much food that it was our dinner at the same time… I’ll highly recommend it, if only to see the ambiance: you’re going back into the last century.

The Biodynamic Duo

It really lives up to the expectations!! This place came came up in absolutely all my searches and even the airbnb host recommended it. It’s an old butchers store that has a few tables in the back. I love my beef and was reluctant but the txuketa (T-bone steak) exceeded my expectations and it’s better than the bisteca fiorentina that Italians rave about in Florence, Italy. Service is very good and for this kind if place I expected to be a grumpy old man but it was a young kind guy. Had smoked salmon, padron peppers, a big steak to share (txuketa) which was really really good, one cheese cake (disappointing) and a bottle of wine. Total damage: 136 Eur

Wish I could give it six stars! I had one night in Bilbao and I booked myself lunch here and it was fantastic. Beautiful restaurant, the meal was fantastic, and the service was warm and friendly. I had the oxtail and a salad, with a quince and cheese dessert, and it was divine.

We had a delicious meal here and we're accommodated despite not having reservations. For starters we ordered the asparagus which just melted in your mouth and the mushrooms. The mushrooms were incredible! The sauce was so yummy and it came with foie served on top. Some thing to watch out for of you're vegetarian. A very nice spot — clean, welcoming, and with a great atmosphere. They have a good wine selection, and the desserts are definitely worth trying. You can also buy ingredients to take home, almost like a small supermarket and butcher counter. A great place to stop by and enjoy.

Lovely little authentic basque restaurant. Skip the starters and go straight to the steak & wine. The tuna salad was a let down for the price. As fast as McDonald's, but at least the wine was better than a coke: 30 minutes for a full dinner. Food was good, but the pressure of the service was very annoying

We visited the restaurant specifically for the meat dish. Although we didn't ask for any starters, we were constantly asked by the staff if we wanted to order. This was a bit annoying because we already paid 78 euros for a steak for two people, which should be enough income for the restaurant. By the way, the wine menu was very successful and we liked the wine recommended. The taste of the meat was excellent for an average restaurant, but for a place of this price and quality, it could have been better.

Don’t recommended this place. The mushrooms were so sweet like they were doused in syrup. The egg croquettes were bland and tasteless. The women working here were all dour and seemed to hate their job. Not a great experience in a city like Bilbao you can do better.

Casa Rufo was a major disappointment. After an excellent experience at La Gavilla the day before, we were up for another day of gastronomy - but Casa Rufo turned out to be our worst meal in the Bilbao. Some lowlights: Despite being promised a table inside when reserving, we were seated directly at the door, exposed to a cold draft. My cod dish was extremely salty and the sirloin steak was on par with what I’d expect at a generic German autobahn restaurant. The fries were bland and far from homemade. Service was lackluster, bordering on rude, and the prices were unjustifiably high. Most strikingly, there wasn’t a single local visitor in sight, a telling sign. Based on my experience, I would recommend choosing another place. La Gavilla, for instance.

First of all, I don't usually write a review, but I strongly felt that this experience should be shared with others. On May 22nd, my boyfriend and I dined at a restaurant where we ordered asparagus, mushrooms, and a t-bone steak. Unfortunately, the first two dishes were poorly done, but the t-bone steak was the worst. The meat was chewy, smelly, and old, and we strongly believe that it was not a real t-bone steak. We have eaten t-bone steaks before, and we can tell the difference. The restaurant was very pricey, but the quality of the food was lower than that of an average midnight doner shop at a train station. Even though we left the steak unfinished, the server did not ask how we found the food. It was evident that we were not satisfied with the meal, but no questions were asked. Moreover, the waiter did not act transparently or professionally. When we paid the bill, he only listed the items we had ordered without sharing the printed bill with us. We had ordered two glasses of red and white wine. When the server poured the red wine, he did not explain the wine and hid the label with his hands. Even in a pizza restaurant with a casual setup, we were presented with a label and explanation for a glass of wine. We found his manner unprofessional. Our bad experience with the food combined with the waiter's unprofessionalism left us with doubts and questions. We are still in shock. 제발 가지 마세요. 기분 좋게 저녁 먹으러 왔다가 여행까지 망치고 돌아갑니다.
