🌟 An Unexpected Gem in Bilbao – A Feast for the Senses at Restaurante Larruzz! 🌟 We stumbled across Restaurante Larruzz purely by chance while wandering Bilbao with a quick google search which turned up glowing reviews, so we gave it a try with no expectations. We didn’t need a booking as there were enough tables free but you might need to book to sit outside! And WOW. What an absolute delight! From the very first bite to the final sip, everything was simply gorgeous. The dishes were not only beautifully presented but incredibly generous, you definitely won’t leave hungry. Every plate was a burst of flavour, clearly made with care and pride. The service? Exceptional. Despite a little language barrier at the start because we do not speak one word Spanish (sorry), the warmth and attention we received more than made up for it. Our waitresses were kind, patient, and genuinely wanted us to have the best experience. And Rakel — what a star! She went above and beyond, ensuring we had everything (and more) to take drinks with us on our up coming boat trip afterwards. It felt like being looked after by friends who really know how to host. We left feeling nourished, cared for, and absolutely smitten with the whole experience. We’ll be back again and again. Thank you to the whole team at Larruzz for a perfect afternoon! X

A truly beautiful restaurant. We had the most delicious paella we've ever eaten. We chose the one with chicken and shrimp. We would have liked to try more, but you always need two people for one type of paella, and the pans are quite large. We can recommend the restaurant.

Everything was okay. But at the first time we came, we couldn't take a seat without the reservation. So we did it, and next day we had tasty paella for lunch :) So tip - make a reservation ( during the weekend at least, for us that was Sunday totally booked) .

It is very beautiful I've already tried shrimp paella in four different cities (Barcelona, Valencia, Madrid) and finally Bilbao. Bilbao experience is the most wonderful in this restaurant. The paella was delicious and deserves 5 stars. Nice service, good choice of food, tasty meal near the river. I suggest this place! I had dinner outside during a quick summer shower, I had potatoes with ham and egg (photo) as appetizer, despite it is a big dish and can be a mean dish! Then I had duck with delicious pear and zucchini (photo) with red fruit jam. The price was correct. All was perfect!

Excellent food with a very good and cozy ambient. I've been here 4 times and the food was always excellent. The waiters are friendly and warns you when you are ordering more food than people usually eat. It is located near the Ria de Bilbao area and it is very easy to reach by tram.

Pedimos una paella y un meloso y a todas nos gustó más el arroz a pesar de estar algo salado. Buena opción para alérgicos. Calidad/precio buena. Repetiríamos.

Fuimos a comer tres personas. Una de ellas cogió el menú del día (muy completo por 18€) y las otras dos de carta. Probamos la ensalada de aguacate y la de de pulpo, ambas riquísimas. Acompañamos con “pan torrao”, que estaba muy bueno. Y probamos el arroz abanda (delicioso) y el bacalao que incluía el menú del día. De postre cogimos dos sorbetes (de frutos rojos y de limón) y un valenciano sin alcohol. El servicio fue bueno y rápido, íbamos un poco reticentes por comentarios que habíamos leído, pero todo bien. Para repetir, sin duda.

40€ por persona 7 personas en total. 2 paellas , 2 de vino ,2 de agua y algún entrante . Nada excelente pero más o menos bien.

Bien la comida y el ambiente. Cantidades generosas. Ideal para celíacos por sus opciones y trato. Me sobra la degustación de postres del menú. Prefiero uno bueno a 5 regulares.

Local con buena ubicación, tienen el espacio aprovechado al máximo, quizás un poco demasiado, los camareros te rozan al pasar continuamente. La comida rica, el arroz meloso casi un poco más caldoso que meloso pero con mucho sabor. El arroz negro fue buena elección, estaba muy sabroso. Las cantidades de arroz bastante abundantes.

Restaurante muy bien ubicado y con un servicio de alta calidad. La carta especifica claramente los alérgenos. Todos los arroces son aptos para personas celíacas a excepción de uno. Además, disponen de pan sin gluten y ofrecen una amplia variedad de opciones en el menú.

Estuvimos cenando y realmente fue muy buena la experiencia, la comida estuvo muy bien tanto en sabor como en su servicio, atentos y agradables Sitio elegante y que queda guardado para repetir

Make sure that you have a booking before you go. Food variety was OK and portions were good. I had seafood paella and it was nice. The only annoying thing is instead of writing the full price of paella for two people writing per person price and adding "Min. 2 persons"😐

During my stay in the wondrous city of Bilbao, I planned on having a meal at Larruzz. I identified this restaurant by researching on Google Maps. The reviews were good, so I thought I'm going there! I didn't make a reservation before my visit, but luckily I was able to get a table. The staff who served me were very friendly and helpful. The service I received was excellent. I ordered 3 dishes. A really tasty starter. The main course of crayfish and prawn paella 🥘 was so tasty. I had a lemon 🍋 sorbet to cleanse my palate after I finished my main course plus a double espresso to keep me awake ⏰️. I was expecting a bill over €60 as I didn't look at the prices, but I was shocked when it was only €43 including a beer too! That's such good value for such a nice restaurant right by the river. The restaurant is well appointed too, and the decor top notch. I'd say, if you enjoy good food at reasonable pricing, then pay Larruzz a visit if you are in Bilbao, you won't be disappointed. 🙂

Hemos ido a comer 6 personas. Nos han puesto a comer en una mesa redonda que era muy incomoda para comer los 6. Esa mesa era mejor para 4-5 personas. Hemos pedido rabas, croquetas y tartar de salmón de entrante y estaba muy rico todo. Los camareros se notaba que no daban con todas las mesas que había, se notaba falta de personal y ha sido un poco desastre la atención recibida. Postres a uno de nosotros tarde, el pan ha llegado tarde etc etc. Tendrá que mirar eso el dueño ya que los camareros hacían lo que podían. Después hemos pedidos dos arroces y uno de ellos no estaba nada bueno, era el arroz alicantino que tenía sabor a tomate de bote sin cocinar ( no nos ha gustado nada,). El arroz negro si que estaba bueno. Volveremos para probar otros arroces.

El sitio está muy bien y la atención también fue correcta. Se agradece mucho el aperitivo, y tanto las alcachofas como el tartar de atún estaban muy ricos. Sin embargo, el arroz meloso de gambas y almejas nos resultó bastante regular: apenas tenía sabor, tuvimos que pedir sal y aun así no mejoró demasiado. Seguramente tengan otros arroces mejores, por lo que como consejo recomendaría informarse bien a la hora de pedir. Es una pena, porque fuimos con muchas expectativas e ilusión y, en conjunto, la experiencia no terminó de superarlas.

La verdad que la comida estaba super rica! Quitando que las alcachofas eran congeladas, el resto de platos muy buenos. Los arroces muy ricos, pedimos el de marisco y el de meloso de ciervo. Lo malo era que los baños estaban estropeados y tuvimos que ir a hacer pis al restaurante de al lado.

Main problem with this place is poor service. We've waited for the bill for 15 minutes, which is inexcusable because we asked for it three times. Restaurant was half-empty, so it wasn't a matter of it being crowded. The food is decent. I recommend making a reservation, because even though restaurant is huge and many tables are not occupied, they won't let you in without one.

Teníamos ganas de ir a probar este sitio ya que habíamos escuchado de gente, que se comía bien, si bien es cierto que estas experiencias son de hace ya un tiempo. La verdad que mejor habría sido elegir otro sitio... la atención fue pésima, nos toco una chica de lo mas borde e irrespetuosa, fuimos a comer con bebe y todas las tronas estaban rotas. Pedimos un arroz alicantino y una fideuá marinera. Sin comentarios, estaban resecas, el calamar duro y el marisco no se podía pelar de lo pasado que estaba. La verdad que todo esto me da que pensar en la calidad de los productos utilizados. Lo único bueno de la comida fueron los entrantes, de ahí las 2 estrellas, las croquetas estaban bastante buenas y el taco de bonito con pimientos, anchoas y espárragos también. Sintiéndolo mucho, pensaba que íbamos a un referente en bilbao para arroces, pero nada mas lejos de la realidad, no volveremos.

La comida, espectacular. El foie, el carpaccio y el arroz meloso de almejas y gambas estaban realmente buenísimos, nada que reprochar en cuanto a la cocina. Sin embargo, el servicio dejó bastante que desear. Trajeron el arroz antes de que termináramos los entrantes y ya nos querían retirar los platos. Pedimos pan y no trajeron suficiente para todas, teniendo que pedirlo de nuevo. En general, no estaban atentos: para pedir agua casi teníamos que levantarnos, y se confundían de mesa varias veces. Además, la cuenta nos la trajeron mal en dos ocasiones. Una pena, porque la comida realmente merece la pena, pero la experiencia se ve empañada por un servicio tan poco cuidado. Recomendaría el sitio solo por la cocina.

De pena. Raciones muy escasas, todos nos quedamos con hambre. Si por lo menos la comida estuviera buena ni tan mal, pero el arroz pésimo y el postre sin comentarios. Todo esto pagando 45€ por persona, de llegar a saberlo me voy al kebab.

Dos entrantes en 2 horas que llevamos en el restaurante, una ensalada que tranquilamente se puede comparar con la del mercadona, unas almejas que ni fu ni fa y todavia despues de 1 hora y 45 minutos, sigo esperando el arroz que me lo comere junto al colacao de la noche antes de ir a dormir. Porque vaya tela, totalmente desbordados.

1/5 — Very Disappointing Experience We were required to have a reservation, but when we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty — and remained that way throughout our visit. The menu was confusing, and although our server attempted to explain it, they did so in a way that lacked professionalism and completely disregarded personal space. After placing our order, we waited an hour for our food. Unfortunately, it wasn’t worth the wait. The paella was bitter, the mussels had sand in them, and the small pasta dish tasted anything but fresh. This place presents itself as a high-quality restaurant, but the reality was far from it. Definitely not worth the hype or the price
