Ramond is highly praised for its exceptional steaks, particularly the Simmental cow and aged ox beef. The service is frequently described as outstanding, with special mentions for staff like Liz, Juan, and Camila. Some found it expensive, and a few experienced slow service or discomfort from the grill smoke.

Arguably the best steak in Spain - I ate 1.2kg to myself with pardon peppers - after eating in Casa Julian in Madrid and Tolosa I wasn’t expecting this to be better. Food wise it was impeccable. The best steak I ate in Spain for sure. Atmosphere is a bit stiff and romantic. I was drunk on my own and thoroughly enjoyed the food but the setting is very formal. Nice place to take your partner for sure.
We had an absolute insane experience in Amaren. First things first: you should make a reservation. This place gets busy, and is booked out for a couple of days/weeks if you’re unlucky. Secondly, the service - absolute outstanding. The waiters took good care of us, asked with a good frequency if we are fine, and were really professional in their service. The highlight - without a question - the meat. 1200 grams of beef, served with a refreshing , tasty salad, and potatoes. The meat is relatively blue, but can be grilled on a little „table grill“. Absolutely amazing experience. The availability of drinks is also great, and beer comes in a big „wine-type“ glass. We were so happily full after the food that we couldn’t try the desert. Prices are higher, but honestly, given the whole concept and quality (food and service), worth it for a special evening. I can highly recommend trying Amaren!
On the expensive side but worth it - absolutely delicious steak, great wine recommendations. We took our 1 year old and whilst the atmosphere was a bit stuffy and quiet the staff were very welcoming and friendly. (They're not geared up for babies with high chairs / changing facilities though, so recommend leaving them at home if you can!)
This is the best restaurant I have ever been to. The meat is the most delicious I have ever tasted. The music is pleasant, and the staff are wonderful — very friendly and, most importantly, extremely attentive. The desserts are truly some of the best in the world. I highly recommend it to everyone.
A true 10/10 experience. Make sure you make a reservation, as you will not be able to just walk in. The staff were great and so helpful explaining the differences between the cuts of beef. I had the Galician steak and it was cooked perfectly. We had a lovely ribera which was beautiful and the desert was perfect. If I had one flaw it would be the sides with the steak were slightly limited, but tbh it was really needed.
The whole experience was incredible. Friendly staff who are prepared to help in an instant, always making sure you have full glasses and additions such as bread or apéritif’s. The food was immaculate, starters, mains and dessert as we couldn’t help but try as many dishes as possible. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone in Bilbao. Make sure you book a reservation as it’s extremely busy, for good reason. Particular mention to Eduarda who improved the whole experience with careful explanation and attention to detail. 5 stars all round.
Visited because it's been awarded number 31 on the best steakhouses of the world 2025. I'd say it was worth the trip. The best thing about Amaren is the fact that they provide you with a mini grill for your table so that you can further cook the steak to your liking and crisp the fat. This is great as your party will likely have people who want their meat cooked differently. The second best thing is the luxurious decor and lighting which creates a very nice ambience. The steak lived up to expectations. The green salad we ordered was very average though. Some of the leaves had brown edges. The lemon meringue pie was imaginatively deconstructed.
A fantastic place with the best meat you will ever have in your life. You get your choice pick of meat based on the race of the cow and also the nationality of it. Our servers Joanna and David also showed us genuine hospitality and availabilty according to our needs. Always a must visit everytime you are in Bilbao. 4.8/5
Absolutely wonderful restaurant. Food was perfect, especially the beef carpaccio - best one I’ve ever had, highly recommend. The service was impeccable, extremely well synchronised flow between the different servers. If you are used to American style steaks, keep in mind that this is different, however this is a Spanish steakhouse after all. I absolutely loved the place. Definitely worth the visit.
My server was Juan & his attentiveness was a spectacle. The food quality was unmatched, I was blown away by the cheesecake. Including the wine my bill was 700 CAD (500 USD) but I’ve got to say I loved every bite. I’ve been to other Michelin stars steakhouses like CUT (the hills), Aragawa (Japan), and Benoit (Paris) but this hidden gem out in Bilbao definitely competes with its rivals. Phenomenal, even after I was full I was thinking about the next time I’ll be back. Would recommend, every dish I tried was a pleasure in every bite!
Excellent dinner! we had a solomillo and the ventresca (wild tuna belly) on the grill.. fabulous - mild and delicious. The whole time we were accompanied by Juan and David the waiters who were helpful, discreet and knowledgeable… wonderful experience. Camila recommended the desert - 10 out of 10! Thank you!
The best steak I’ve eaten in Bilbao! So good… amazing. Even the entrées and the dessert were amazing, beyond words. Kind servers and willing to wait for us to take too long to order because everything seemed to good to order but they recommended us not too much food so we won’t be too full and able to finish the steak. Very considerate! Please try the steak (we chose the one that is the most expensive anyway) and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Please just order that for the greatest steak experience!
Ambience was great, blending an upscale feel created by the paintings, lightings and furniture design with a family style diner atmosphere. Pretty spacious as well. The beef fat butter served with toast was great, the beef fat flavour definitely came through. We got sweetbreads, anchovies on toast and a bone marrow parfait for starters. Personally the beef fat butter coating the anchovies was a bit much, especially considering the other dishes we got and the beef itself, making the entire meal feel a little too rich. But that was my only gripe. The food was amazing and the steak was one of the best I’ve ever had, the flavour of the meat was incomparable to a regular steak. The roasted peppers we got as a side was sweet and a little bitter, contrasting with the richness of the steak,The menu was extensive but every dish we got was well impressively executed.
A great venue. Service is first class. Wine selection is superb. This restaurant is all about the steak, but to be fair, we’re from Ireland and have some great steak houses of our own, so only 4 stars for the steak because it was no better than what we would get at home. Sharing 1.5kg of steak on the bone is a bit of a novelty, as is the small grill they provide to allow for different levels of preference on how well ‘done’ you like your steak. This was good for us as my husband likes medium rare (which is recommended) and I like medium to well done. We had the croquettes for the starter and the bread with olive oil. We had 2 sides with the steak (piquillo peppers and rustic potatoes (chips)), and that was more than enough. It’s a really nice restaurant, but expect to spend €250 with the recommended house wine (which is on the table). It’s a special occasion meal, and definitely on the other end of the eating spectrum in bilbao where the pintxos are only €2 to €3, and a good glass of wine about the same. A couple can eat and drink well over the course of an evening for €50 to €60 enjoying 5 or 6 different bars.
Everything was fantastic - the service from Juan and Camila and all the others was outstanding, we loved the starters (artichoke, picanha carpaccio, and chistorro) including the gyoza on the house, the steak was wonderful, and the desserts were also great. We enjoyed the Habla Duende wine with our meal - all excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant for an elevated experience when in Bilbao!
Amazing experience, from checking it to explanation of different kinds of meats in the menu, to good wine recommendations and bill payments. Impeccable service. Food was delicious (all of it) the place has a sophisticated decoration and vibes, without being excessively formal. Price naturally follows the quality you get, but not unreasonable. Would recommend for special occasions or business dinners. Reservation highly recommended otherwise your chances are close to none.
A place to go for those meat lovers if you are happy to pay for it. Service it’s outstanding while the environment is chilled and relax. Quality of the food was excellent from the start to the end!! The waiters taking care from us were friendly and explained every single dish in detail guiding us through a full experience. Thank you Amaren team for a great dinner during our visit in Bilbao!
Top restaurant I went to in Bilbao, not only did we have extremely tasty steak, appetisers, and dessert, but going to this restaurant is a wonderful and carefully orquestrated experience. The Steak Mar y Montaña appetizer is simply wonderful. The service and attention to detail from Vivi, Jason, Giovanni is great !
Thank you for a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, the service warm and professional. The harmonious environment and the beautiful interior enhanced the overall impression. We are already looking forward to our next visit! Regards Olga från Sweden
We came to celebrate our daughter Isabella's 9th birthday, and everything was amazing! The service was outstanding — honestly the best experience we’ve had in a long time. The food was super tasty, the atmosphere was lovely, and the music made it even better. Totally recommend this place! 🎉💛
I’ve visited many restaurants that serve steaks, but this one is among the very best. The way they present the meat before cooking, the careful choice between cow and bull cuts, and the unique table-side heating and serving method make the experience truly special. Delicious food, excellent service — absolutely worth every recommendation! 👏🥩
For the carnivores and quality meat lovers, this is heaven. The quality of the meet is top. The premium beef cuts are amazing. The 9y aged ox beet is the strongest i flavor, but the 5y aged cow beef was excellent and very-well balanced between flavor strength and tenderness. The taste, the flavor, the sides, the service all get a solid 10/10. The atmosphere is chiq yet chilled. The desserts were excellent as well. Reservation is recommended, especially on weekends. A definite recommendation for anyone visiting Bilbao.
One of the best steak meals ever, and superb service by Juan- 10/10 recomended. Steak was amazing, the ambiance is very relaxing but everything is top 👌🏻
It has been a pleasure, steaks were amazing especially simmental cow, The waitress deserves a raise, she was so resourceful and treated us very well, untill next time, cheers Ljudi ako morete navalite
I picked this place to celebrate my mum's birthday, and they didn’t disappoint. The customer service was excellent — the staff were friendly and happy to help with a couple of surprises my brother and I had planned. The overall experience was amazing, and the food was genuinely of very high quality. The girl who explained the meat options was not only knowledgeable but also very patient with our questions. Great value for money, and I’d honestly recommend a visit to Amaren to anyone coming to Bilbao.

Amazing food, but service and value didn’t match the price. Waiters were hard to catch, some items came only after asking twice, and I was shocked to pay €12 for three pieces of bread when offered oil or butter. The smoke from the grills also made the atmosphere uncomfortable and hot.
Good meat but, great burger with black truffles but we ask that medium well and it came medium rare when we reclaim that we should ask before start eating doesn’t make sense because the only way to realize was undercooked was eating it. It took forever to receive the food , Slow service but overall good.
Beautifully designed restaurant with top-notch service. The staff were friendly and well prepared. The dishes we had, two of the steaks, were delicious. Just bring a lust for meat when you get here. Personally, I grew somewhat tired of meat during the meal and longed for more sides. If you absolutely love to eat meat you will not encounter this issue and fall in love with this restaurant. The Basque sausage, one of the starters, is incredible, definitely recommended.
A Must-Visit for Authentic Basque Gastronomy in Bilbao When in Bilbao, immersing yourself in the local culinary scene, especially the famed Basque meats, is an absolute must. Our recent visit to this restaurant was specifically to experience the region's renowned carnivorous delights, and we were not disappointed. For our starter, we chose the bone marrow and foie gras terrine. While undeniably good and rich in flavor, its portion size was quite substantial, almost a main course in itself. Halving the portion would have made it a more appropriate and less heavy start to the meal, allowing us to fully appreciate the subsequent courses. The main event was an extraordinary 1.8kg Angus ox t-bone, cooked to a perfect blue/medium-rare. This was, without a doubt, an extremely delicious, buttery, and incredibly tender piece of meat. The flavors were simply amazing, boasting wonderful hints of dry-aged funkiness, a testament to its impressive 110-day aging process. It was truly an amazing culinary experience and an unforgettable dish. Both the exceptional food and the thoughtfully curated wine list represent excellent value for money, making every penny spent feel truly worthwhile. The service was consistently very friendly and attentive. While generally pleasant, there were moments where the interactions felt a little rehearsed or as if following a pre-set "game plan." This occasionally detracted from a completely natural flow, sometimes feeling a touch forced. However, a special mention must go to our "meat maitresse," a wonderful woman with long, curly brown hair. She was exceptionally friendly and accommodating, proving to be a truly wonderful table hostess who significantly enhanced our dining experience. I would enthusiastically recommend that everyone visiting Bilbao dedicate an evening to this establishment, and without hesitation, opt for the ox meats over the regular cow offerings for an unparalleled taste of Basque tradition.
Food at its finest! The chorizo sausages and beef tartare were excellent. The steak was good too, although slightly too rare for me, but we had a grill on the table so I was able to give my pieces a quick few seconds sizzle, which was perfect!
Pros: 1. Food quality: perfect steak, the croquettes and ribeyes are highly recommended but the mushroom side dish was a lame. Cons: 1. Unsatisfied service: we made a reservation and came on time, since the reservation is a must here (they charge you €25/person if you don’t show up). However, it’s them not respecting customers’ time; they did not even serve water for 19mins 2. Unclear communication: they cannot speak in English, but i guess it’d not a language problem. We ordered 1kg but 1.4kg came out of nowhere without any clear explanation in advance, which led to overcharging. It was a very unpleasant experience; almost felt like price scams. 3. Overpriced: every fckin’ basic single thing is charged here (water €4, bread, olive oil, butter: check out the bill in the photo attached). Only 2 pieces of dumplings were included in the price, which we did not ordered.
Amaren has a lovely atmosphere. The staff is attentive and friendly. We came here for the steak of course. But the show stealer was one of the starters. The foie and marrow starter was excellent. It is the perfect presentation. Great combination of sweet sauces and rich “marrow”. Highly recommend. We also had artichokes and sweetbread. To me they were ok but not amazing. The steak we had was the Minhotto from Spain. They recommended 1.8kg. I want doing conversion correctly to pounds. It was too much meat for three people. I’d say 1 or 1.2kg would have been plenty. The meat was flavorful. And it’s fun to finish cooking on the grill. The steak experience is just what we expected. For dessert we didn’t really have room any more. Challenged ourselves to try the cheesecake not came in a pot. More like a cheesy pudding. Very tasty and the lighter texture worked for us because we were quite full! It’s pricey but a high end experience.
Nice but overpriced. Meat was good but not top of the top. We had 4-5 waiters. Friendly but fast service and a bit stressed. Wine card is good but top priced

Food is really really good here. No wonder the steak is one of the top 16 in the world. The only reason I didn’t give them 5* is because we waited very long to get our assigned server to take our food order. Thankfully the quality and taste of the food make up for it.

I have been to this place twice already, once to a normal table where we ordered the steak you can see in the picture, and another time to private room located at the back where we had a set menu for 16 people. The place is a a high-end meat restaurant. The meat is OK, but in my view not worth the price you pay, and below other meat restaurants in Bilbao. Over hyped.
This steakhouse is billed as one of the “Top 100 Steakhouses in the World,” so naturally, our expectations were very high. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the accolades. We were recommended the “most tender cut” by our waitress, but the steak was surprisingly tough and not tender at all—it was actually difficult to chew. For two people, they recommended 1.3kg of steak, which we went with, but we were both disappointed. The steak was supposed to be cooked medium rare (they refused to prepare it medium), but what we received was very much on the rare side—almost raw in the center. They brought a charcoal grill to the table so guests could cook it more themselves, which is a nice idea in theory, but every table around us was clearly doing the same thing. If everyone has to re-cook their steak, something isn’t right. The sides were better—the potatoes were quite good and the roasted peppers had a nice flavor, even if a bit overpriced. Service was also lacking. Our waitress came across as unfriendly and unengaged—slamming plates down, not smiling, and not responding to polite “thank yous.” It felt cold and transactional. Honestly, I’m baffled by the glowing Google reviews and international recognition. This didn’t resemble anything close to an American steakhouse experience, where quality, tenderness, and service are usually top-tier. Based on our visit, I would not return or recommend this place for a proper steak experience.

It was our first time in the basque region and we were excited to try a dry aged steak. When we arrived the waitress who greeted us and took our order was super friendly. We chose the terrine de foie for our starter and mushrooms as our side. The terrine the foie was ok, a bit too sweet/fruity for our liking. The steak had a nice flavor however there was way too much fat (which they recommend that you not grill the fat anyways so why leave so much of the fat on). Keep in mind you pay by weight so when 1/3 of the steak is fat it's a bit disappointing. We expected the texture of the steak to be a bit chewy based on the cut but there was silverskin and made the steak way too chewy. The mushroom side we ordered was so plain an uninteresting as well. After we ordered we got a different waitress who took our plates and took care of the payment. She barely spoke to us the entire time and looked almost pissed, to the point where after we paid and said "thank you", she immediately turned around and walked away without even saying anything - no thank you, no goodbye, nothing. That last interaction left a really bad impression on us and not what we expect for a high end restaurant. Overall very underwhelming restaurant, I would not recommend based on our experience. Trust me, we were surprised after reading all the positive reviews.
I visited this restaurant in Bilbao with high expectations, especially because it is known for its steak. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. I ordered my steak medium-rare, but it was served rare. Although the resting was done properly, the doneness was simply not what I requested. Even local casual steakhouses manage to cook steak more accurately than this. The potatoes that came with it tasted as if they had been soaked in oil rather than properly prepared. Service was also below the standard I expected. Despite ordering a bottle of wine, the staff repeatedly missed the timing to pour it, so I ended up serving myself throughout the meal. The Spanish toast was also underwhelming and lacked flavor. Overall, the food felt careless and uninspired. I paid €148, but the quality of the meal was closer to something worth €48. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
