Our experience at The Fish Market Restaurant in Birmingham was absolutely unforgettable! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and relaxed, the kind of place where you immediately want to sit back and enjoy everything on the menu. We loved the fresh, flavorful seafood that tasted like it was crafted with care each dish was beautifully balanced, perfectly cooked, and packed with that genuine coastal taste. The service was friendly and attentive, adding just the right touch to a dinner that felt both casual and special. This place truly stands out for its quality ingredients, diverse menu, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re a seafood lover or just looking for a memorable meal in Birmingham, The Fish Market is a must-visit. Absolutely would come back again! 🍤🐟🥂
Stopped by for a quick seafood bite ahead of seeing a show at Iron City. This was a great choice! The highlight was the fresh oysters, which had great texture and flavour, and great horseradish which can be a deal maker or breaker with fresh oysters. We also had the mahi mahi dinner with coleslaw and gumbo. The main course took a bit longer, but was tasty when delivered. Super yummy hush puppies too. The restaurant has neat decor and feel as much like a community market and seafood restaurant. All sorts of beautiful things and Greek or Mediterranean regional products. It would be a great stop ahead of the holidays for dinner and some gift shopping.
My uncle to us to this restaurant on our visit to his place just outside of Birmingham. Neat place with list of character and awesome scallops.
There isn't really anything I can say that I did not like about The Fish Market. The food was pretty good. The service was on point and very kind. Though the Atmosphere was very busy and fast paced, I can say our group of 7 enjoyed our time celebrating our friends birthday. Also may I say the menu is quite a sight to see. Even though I am usually horrible at choosing for the first time at a new restaurant. I found the shrimp Alfredo with scallops. A side of broccoli and fried pickles to be absolutely delicious.
We there to get dinner. The waitress was top tier 👌 I dont drink alcohol the mocktail she made was so good. She checked on me the whole night The salmon was delicious 😋 I wish I had another piece And I tried to save my tiramisu cheesecake for a late night snack it didn't make I ate it time I stepped into the house
Best seafood in Birmingham! They have a very large menu, and all of it’s delicious, including a few unique dishes you won’t find anywhere else. The service is always great, and it has a cozy, Mediterranean vibe inside. The parking is a challenge sometimes, but that’s a price of excellence in any downtown establishment.
Best seafood I've had that was not a restaurant near the ocean. It's a legit fresh seafood restaurant with a massive menu selection, although I did not have lobster I noticed a waiter or cook bring a live lobster to a table of people to get the approval or the guest. I had the fired catfish strips and they where amazing, my wife had the VIP snapper and loved it along with so crab crakes that was also excellent . We went two times in 3 days both times the food was top notch, servers were knowledgeable and attentive this is an awesome seafood restaurant.
Sat at the Bar. Excellent food. Greek with a touch of Southern influence. I had margaritas hand made in a shaker. Fried lobster tails (big portions). I had the rock fish another big portion. I suggest you try the minnette (I'm probably spelling that wrong) shallot vinager sauce they make fresh. A must is the half pound order of crab claws as an appetizer. I didn't have them but oysters were being ordered by the two dozen all around me. They looked excellent. Best restaurant in the ham I've been a customer at the Fish market for decades. It's the real deal.
Really real, authentic amazing Greek cuisine. And even when absolutely slammed on a Saturday night, the staff never seemed bothered. There's never a lag in service. And the Cocktails were expertly made. We had oysters and the traditional Greek salad. The salad is very refreshing and so delicious. The grilled chicken is probably the best I've had. Love this place. Can't wait to return and try all the food! Bravo!
Great overall experience! Our server, Apollo was AMAZING! Very knowledgeable about the menu options, friendly, and quick. We ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They were fried to perfection but there was no seasoning in the batter. The Fried Green Tomatoes was served with ranch. I ordered the Seafood Au Gratin with a Greek salad (yes, add feta). The salad is served in the place of two sides. This meal waw really good. Very rich in flavor. I tasted shrimp and fish with the cheese in the dish. There was also rice in the dish. Of course I had leftovers. My boyfriend ordered fried Snapper with a side of french fries and extra hushpuppies. Lets talk about the hush puppies! They are delicious! Seasoned well and fried well. The fish was seasoned well. Overall good experience. Our server made it the best! Update: October 2023 We're back! For an appetizer we tried the Baked Spankopita oysters (spinach and feta). For entrees we had the grilled whole sea bass with a Greek salad (add feta) and hushpuppies. This time My boyfriend ordered the VIP Snapper (grilled fish with onions, tomatoes and potatoes) with fries and hushpuppies. Yep... extra hush puppies! Great dinner tonight too! Update: November 2024 The Oysters Dino is a great appetizer! The flavors pair well together! The Tuscan Salmon is also very tasty! The calamari is good as well! It is lightly fried and the sauce pairs perfectly! Update: October 2025 Red snapper medallions are great! Seasoned blackened and Cajun over a bed of orzo!
First time in today and tried the cup of claim chowder and the Maryland style crab cakes. It comes with two sides which I got a side salad (counts as 2 sides). The claim chowder was very good, wish I would have gotten a bowl. The crab cakes were very thin and a little to greesy for my liking. I haven't ever had this style of crab cakes so not sure if that them being thin is this type of style. The service was ok. They were not that busy but felt like I seat a little too long before someone came to my table. Like the openness and how big the place felt.
One of my favorite restaurants in the city. I've got a solid go to but I tried something different on my last trip grilled snapper over orzo. Great with the lemon provided.

great fish choices-we had refish and whole bronzino, as well as spanikopata oysters-amazing. William, our server, was terrific. Nice, reasonably priced wine list as well.

For a Friday night, the 30-minute wait was surprisingly short. My sister and I were meeting up with a friend from high school, and it was the perfect spot to catch up. Our server, Tristen, was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I ordered the Maryland crab cake. While it was nicely presented, I have to admit—being familiar with authentic Maryland crab cakes, this one didn’t quite compare. That said, the atmosphere more than made up for it. The restaurant was warm and inviting, with additional space available for larger parties of 10 to 12 guests, which was great to see. My sister had the Tuscany Salmon, which was flavorful and well-prepared. Our friend went with the Shrimp Alfredo and enjoyed it. The portion sizes were generous across the board. All in all, it was a lovely dining experience. Given the chance, I’d definitely return and try something new on the menu.
We had the oysters. On half shellThey have three choices all we’re good.. The gumbo and the clam chowder is excellent great flavor The sushi grade tuna was great as well. Had a couple of margaritas. Top shelf very well made. Our only complaint is slow service. Our waiter took forever as we were traveling down the interstate and wanted Cfood good food but if you’re in a hurry, look elsewhere.
Very good restaurant. I mean there’s one right by our house that we go often but someone said this location is the best and that person was right! Excellent oysters on half shell! Very fresh (of course!), sweet and just yummy! Very good gumbo too! Lots of everything! Then I had pan fried snapper which was really good, also. Only thing is our server was hard to find when we needed. Compared to other seafood restaurants in town that everyone seems to rave about, this place is so much better especially with prices! I’ll definitely go back and I highly recommend this place!
I have been to the Fish Market several illnesses abd it's always a delicious experience, our server was a lil absent because she was handling bar duties as well but overall another great lunch time meal . Busy but very comfortable. Reasonable for great food.i had the baked American oyster, and fried pickles, house salad, and blacken Salmon. It perfectly done, still moist and juicy, it was done medium. The pickles were good but as hot as they usually come, and was excellent, too. It was very professional, clean and everyone was pleasant and eager to assist each other.
This restaurant has many locations throughout Birmingham. Located near the UAB Kirkland Clinic right across the parking lot shared with Dunkin Doughnuts. Always great hospitality and there was no waiting for a table. Love that this location offers an affordable lunch of a drink with two sides or a salad and an entree for $15.99. As with other locations, the team assures that the food is served as soon as it hits the window. It's busy during lunch and sometimes if you need a refill on your drink, there is a self serve area. Overall, the food quality remains consistently good at all locations. There is a reason this restaurant chain had been around for awhile, good food and hospitality.
Great seafood and Greek and Cajun cousine. Nice atmosphere with several items for sale inside, including Greek themed dinnerware and souvenirs. A great selection of wines, and beers too! You can opt for sit down dining and place your order with a server. Or place your order at the counter, and a server will bring your order to your table. Really good food, very limited parking, and a very cramped restaurant overall. But if your ok with that , not a bad dining experience. Moderately priced menu items, quite a bit cheaper to be here at lunch time.
Haven't been here in a while and decided to try out their new lunch menu. Hearty portions for an unbeatable $14.99 price which includes a soda or tea. Had to box up half to take home for later. Par…

I enjoyed the ambiance and the food was plentiful, however it was bland. Just no realb flavor despite asking for my food to be seasoned. It wasn't terrible but I wouldn't go back.

I actually hope id never have to come back here again, I ordered fish tacos and I’ve never EVER seen no fish tacos that look like that… its so unappealing and unappetizing I feel sick. They give you a couple of toppings on the side in containers and even those cant help the dish. Plain purple onions, feta cheese, and chip salsa…The fried pickles I got had potential their just way too salty and the fries are just plain. Our server was also extremely moody and rude but I understand everyone has their days .This is my 2nd time here and 2nd time having a bad experience.

Dirty place, very expensive, bad food, not properly cooked. I ordered a platter $27. Super small. The two sides are ridiculously small. Only 3 hush puppies as hard as a rock. The cat fish and the shrimp were bad. Do not go there.
