Opinions de BA BBO Ristorante Bogota
Some places you stumble into. Others you’re drawn toward by something in the air — music, laughter, the smell of grilled meat, or in this case, salsa rhythms pouring out onto the cobbled streets of La Candelaria. Babou isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a portal. Step inside and you’re wrapped in warm wood, candlelight flicker, live beats, and a joyous tangle of bodies — lovers dancing with lovers, locals twirling their parents, the occasional pro couple stealing the spotlight and your breath. I came for food. I stayed for life. The Food • Steak pimienta: Decently tender, laced in a creamy pepper sauce that actually had bite. Balanced by a fresh, generous salad — cubes of avocado, cucumber curls, olives, and toasted almonds. Not a lazy plate. • Carbonara: Not Roman, but rich and satisfying. Creamy, with a Colombian flourish — maybe local cheese or butter — and a thick-cut bread slice ready to mop the plate. • Queso estilo parrilla: Grilled cheese — not the sandwich. Think more like halloumi met a smoky asado. Came with caramelized onions and a pile of olives and arugula. Salty, sweet, bitter — nailed it. • Pescado con salsa & tzatziki: Battered fish, solid crust, served with a riot of diced salad and fries. Not greasy. The tzatziki surprised me — creamy, with bits of passionfruit that cut through the fat. Colombian-Greek fusion? Sure. • Merengón El Espíritu del Mundo: A mess of cream, tart passionfruit pulp, strawberries and peaches on crisp meringue. Sweet, sour, crunchy, soft — the chaos worked. A fitting end to a salsa-fueled night. The Vibe The space screams personality. Distressed wooden tables, scribbled lyrics under glass, salsa posters, and waiters who seem to be actors moonlighting as servers. They’ll get to you — eventually. But you’re not here to rush. Service is slow, but never rude. Drinks flow. Conversations stretch. The kind of place you nurse a beer just to stay in the moment. Bottom Line Babou is not cheap by local standards (our meal hit 275,000 COP before tip), but you’re paying for more than calories. You’re paying to see a city’s soul — spun across a dance floor, served with steak and soul, and told in the rhythm of salsa. Would I return? In a heartbeat.
Stumbled upon this gem of a place and had a great time. Amazing friendly staff and live entertainment by Brenda! Kudos to the team and I’d be back for sure
Babou restaurant has a very cool and cosy vibe. It’s really an extraordinary establishment. The food is delicious and the people are very friendly and helpful. There are multiple floors with plenty of seating. It can get crowded so plan accordingly. We always have a great time with each visit. There is a large menu that can accommodate many different palettes. I recommend it for the delicious food, great and fun atmosphere, and excellent service. It’s really a whole experience! We can’t wait to go back.
The service and the atmosphere is really nice. Portions are too satisfying for me. They put the biggest cheese in a beef burger. It is crayz. And I ordered a random dessert, it was massive. Prices are really good for their menu and quality. A chill place during the day time. They serve free coffee with caramel, coffee candy. Oo mamasita❤️🔥
Great menú with wide variety. Food was very good. Steak was cooked perfectly with tons of flavor. Ceviche was fresh and delicious. Great ambience , good music and our service for lunch was perfect.
This place is fantastic! I always make sure to stop by when I visit Bogotá. The food is delicious, and the music is great.
The musical evening vibe was great. I enjoyed the bachata and salsa music. We didn’t see the live performance but apparently there is!
The food here is awesome! Highly recommended. Wait staff are also really lovely. Music is quite loud but whatever.

Live music with great food served.
Great food in a fun part of the city! Would recommend the encocado de mariscos. They take credit card.
Babou Bogotá is a true local gem with live salsa music and an authentic vibe. The bar is cozy and full of energy, with a dance floor packed with locals moving to powerful, live rhythms. It’s not fancy, but the atmosphere is real and welcoming. Great drinks, fair prices, and a genuine salsa experience you won’t forget.
Great place, great food, good music
I was there before the live Salsa but I can imagine it is a vibe. The ceiling is partially open and you have a view of the city. The staff welcomed me the second I walked in. Very friendly. I sat upstairs and the design was great. My pepper steak was fantastic. I would skip the spring rolls. Pepper steak was delicious and it came with a salad, educa j desperately needed after a week in Bogota. I would definitely go back.

Really interesting decor with very decent food options! This is in the heart of La Candeleria, and a good option to grab some food. We were there for lunch on a Thursday, and the place was mostly empty. Service was good, and the food was quite good too. We ordered some burgers and the chicken balls. There are several sections for seating across multiple levels, and am sure it must be quite busy and loud on weekends.
Great little restaurant on Bogotá’s first street. Large portions and fast service. The chicharrones in my dish were dry, but the beans, rice, egg and plantains were fine. The avocado on the omelette was ripe and delicious. Nice presentation too.
Nice staff, good food and not expensive. Location is a bit crowded and music was a bit loud to have a conversation. They had a live band playing. We ordered a medium done steak but it was very raw and had to be done more but they ended up making it well done and didn’t turn out good in the end but still ok. Chefs should of avoided this mistake in the first place. Overall it’s a good restaurant if you’re in the area and worth a visit. Just make sure to explain well how the steak should be if you order that.

Food Good. However, it gets very crowded and the service is slow, very slow. Come is you are willing to wait one hour for your food. Otherwise est somewhere else and come here for the music and drinks. Also, ask for your dessert at the same time for your food, otherwise prepare yourself for waiting another hour for it...
Been here twice, the live music is amazing. It is a great thing if you are into that. The food is not so good. It is mid at best but overpriced and the quantity can be small. The service is great they are friendly and well mannered. The drinks are not so bad, I really liked my cocktail but my friend not much.

DO NOT EAT HERE. I ordered a steak, asked it be cooked cooked medium. It came out cold in the middle. I like rare but have learned to ask for medium to avoid this. Rare isn’t refrigerator cold completely uncooked in the middle. They took it back and then overcooked it beyond well done. It’s frustrating to pay so much for a meal (over $90,0000) and have it not even cooked correctly. It’s a cute place, the music is great. Come for drinks, not the food. They only offered 10% discount and not to fix their mistake. Twice. I only came here because of a review that said the steak was cooked perfectly. Maybe you’ll get lucky, I didn’t get so lucky and wasted nearly $22usd on a bad meal. Editing to add: just cut into the second filet and that one is still cold inside so they only recooked and over did one. Do not eat here, it’s a health hazard.
It took more than 1 hour for an ajiaco soup, whereas the serve said it would take 25 mins. They weren't even that busy. The restaurant has good reviews so I chose it. However for this service, I'm never going to go back
Probably the worst service I had in a very long time. We ordered a chocolate cake that is meant to have a creamy molten core but was completely dry horrible and inedible. We try to get a waiter for more than 15 minute, at start to see if there's something we can do about the cake but afterwards just to pay and leave as we gave up. Sadly all of the waiters were busy dancing and taking videos rather than attending to the guests. Terrible
