Mundaka is a popular spot known for its delicious pizza, friendly service (especially Daniella), and beachside location. Many praise the pizza and cocktails, but some have experienced slow service and occasional overpricing. A great alternative to Punta Madre.

Cristian’s service was phenomenal, the pizza was spectacular, the atmosphere was great, and everything was super fast.
We loved it here! Quieter atmosphere but perfect for a low key dinner. Amazing prawn ceasar salad and thin crispy pizza!
Had a great experience here! The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Guillermo and Alexis were fantastic, super friendly and made the experience even better. Highly recommend this place!
Amazing food! Incredible service by Eva ☀️
I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Mundaka, so I decided to go back. I've had both the pizza and the pasta, and I was pleased for the amount I paid. I have not been upstairs, but I'm pretty laid back so I enjoyed the vibe on the ground floor. Give it a shot!
Incredible pizza!!! Awesome crust and tasteful flavor combos. Definitely worth a try. Cool interior that is intimate and has a view of the wood fired oven. Great cocktails as well.
Amazing food, good service, great place an amazing pasta!
Lovely staff and great food. They also have gluten free pasta options. One of my favorite restaurants in Puerto!
Thanks, I have been twice here, the food and the service always are very good, especially from Cris!! Thanks a lot!
Amazing place! Eva was so kind ❤️
This is a super perfect place to have Pizza, Pasta or salads after a long surf session. I am comming often with my friends for the last 4 years and we love it. feel at home atmosphere. Lorena the owner is Super cool Garlic bread is super good...
After a terrible dinner at Punta Madre, we walked over to Mundaka and it was like night and day. At Punta Madre we had soggy fries, bland tacos, and rude service. At Mundaka, the pizza came out hot, fresh, and packed with flavor. Where Punta Madre blasted music so loud we couldn’t hear each other, Mundaka had a relaxed vibe that made it easy to talk. Where Punta Madre took forever to bring out bad food, Mundaka’s service was fast and friendly. Honestly, the contrast made Mundaka feel even better. After the mess of Punta Madre, enjoying great pizza with good service felt like a total win.
First I’d like to address the negative reviews. Don’t listen to them, they have no idea what they’re talking about. And I loved the owners responses to those comments, that’s what sold me on coming here. And I’m glad I did! Some of the best pizza I’ve ever had, and I’m from New York! Especially for the price. What a bargain. The dough tastes like freshly made home cooked bread. Maybe that’s where the gas station pizza lovers get thrown off. They don’t know what quality tastes like. The crust was perfectly crisp. The cheese delicious. Perfectly cooked. Creative toppings, if you desire. The whole vibe of the place is perfectly executed. Loved the music. It’s really well staffed and everyone’s really chill and friendly. If I lived in town I’d be here every week. Oh, remember to get the tiramisu. Maybe the best I’ve ever had! The only thing I found myself wanting was some kind of sauce or oil to dip the crust, because it’s so thick and bread like haha. Next time I’d ask for some olive oil on the side 👌
Mundaka just re-opened and we came here twice during our stay at Zicatela, and food was simply amazing. I could’ve ordered the gnocchi (with blue cheese and sun-dried tomato), but wanted to try the rest of the menu on my second day. Lasagna was just WONDERFUL (but let it cool cuz my tongue is still burning from my lack of caution). On both days we got the 4 cheeses pizza and we DO NOT regret this decision. My vegetarian friend got the vegetable risotto both days and was happy as well. We also tried the Malagueña burger (and could’ve sticked to pasta), the goat cheese ravioli (just ok), the carbonara (TRY IT!) and the spinach and shrimp pasta (try it as well). Regarding drinks, we tried the hibiscus and mezcal drink, which was our favorite, along with the guava and mezcalitas. If you’re sitting at the bar, ask for Blanca, she’s way nicer than Paola, who was somewhat rude when we ordered. PS, one of the bathroom doors does not close.
Delicious bruschetta and Caesar salads with grilled shrimp! Tons of pizza options and they are cooked perfectly. Sit on the top floor and get the rioja vino.
Excellent pizza, great friendly service, and very reasonable price. Daniella was our server but a young man who's name I didn't get was helping and he was very friendly too.
Great pizza, friendly service, fun atmosphere at nighttime (that area is popping with locals and non locals). We planned to order our meal to go and was told it would be a 45 min wait on food so we headed upstairs after petting the dogs and cat to order a drink. Our server was very friendly and fast and the cocktails we ordered were delicious and refreshing. We people watched while we waited for our food (which didn’t take the estimated 45 mins). We ordered pepperoni pizza, the Frutti de Mare, chicken wings and their garlic bread. My husband couldn’t wait to get home to eat the pizza because it looked so good so he ate a few pieces there and it was just what he was hoping for. Perfectly cooked. As we were leaving our server stopped us to offer us 2 free shots which was unexpected but very nice! Our take out food was ok, the pasta was really good and a large portion, but the wings and garlic bread were not as good as reviews and pics suggested. Mind you wings that sit in aluminum foil for 30 mins won’t be as good as fresh, but the garlic bread was on what seemed to be wheat bread which was not expected. We would go back for the pizza, pasta and cocktails.
This was, without a doubt, the best food I've ever eaten in my life. My friend and I went twice in our 3 night stay. The ravioli and the goats cheese pizza are outstanding. Can't believe I got the best modern Italian of my life in Mexico, but hey, it happens!
We are loving this spot for our few months in Puerto. Amazing food and lovely service. Beautiful, festive decor upstairs for Christmas 😍
We came here twice during our stay, and both times were excellent! There's a good selection of pizza, pasta, and some other dishes. The drinks menu has some different cocktails on, which is very nice to see - not just your usual fare. Only downside is they forgot to bring one of our drinks, but it wasn't on the bill either.
There's so many cool places in La Punta and this one ranks up there. Great pizza atmosphere.
Delicious pizza in a lovely setting. Christian was great!!! I was celebrating my birthday and he made sure my wife and I had a great time. Highly recommended!
Amazing pizza and tiramisu. Vegetarian friendly. Very friendly staff. The house special cocktails are must try.
Pet friendly, great service, great pizza! Food was delivered super fast in an almost packed house, we were attended immediately. They have two floors we were seated downstairs because the top floor was crowded. We ordered a margarita, pepperoni and a goat cheese salad, it was bomb. Love that they’re pet friendly also!
Mundaka is easily one of the top 3 places to eat in La Punta. No matter what you decide to order, you'll be more than satisfied with it -- from pizza to pasta, lasagna to the risotto. Everything is good here. Pro tip: Walk up the stairs on the left side of the restaurant to their newly added second floor dining area. Well worth it. They also offer delivery if you prefer to relax at home and you're looking for a quality meal. Love this place. Can't say enough about it.
Lovely pizza and cocktail restaurant with a chilled, welcoming vibe. We had the Neapolitana and Spinach Ricotta pizzas—both super tasty. The passion fruit mocktail was amazing. Warm, friendly service made it an even better experience.

The customer service was top notch. The ladies were very attentive. We loved our spinach salad and Hawaiian pizza. It’s right be the beach as well!
Daniella was a ver good waitress. Absolutely great service and the pizza was awesome. Possibly the best in Puerto Escondido. Well worth it. My family of 4 all enjoyed it and it's right by the beach. Highly recommend it
Our waitstaff, Daniella, was so kind and helped us select a great meal (vegetarian) and advised us about tasting mezcal (we tried two). The pizza was fantastic, service was timely and we had a yummy salad.

Loved the pizzas more than the pasta, but it’s a really cool beachside spot.
Rigatoni bolognese hit the spot. Garlic bread wasn’t what you’d expect, it was more like rye bread in pieces with garlic rubbed on it, still nice though. My friend ordered a pizza and was happy. It can be a little difficult to get a table when busy so arrive early if you can!
Great place - went to dine in once and the food was amazing. I went back a second day and order to go and watched the sunset while eating my pizza - recommended!
The pizzas are ok. But not the best. If you have a lot of time this is the place for you. Pizza took 45 mins in arrive and the change took 20 mins. We ordered blue bacon pizza and a beer, we had alot of expectations with this place because was greatly rated but our personal experience was not the best.

The restaurant looks very nice. However, the food was okay, especially compared to all the other restaurants in Puerto Escondido. The cocktails were also nothing ok, nothing special
Solid pizza, but not amazing. Cocktails were a bit too sweet. Nice vibe and friendly service, but quite slow. The cheesy garlic bread was good!
Beautiful place with pastas, pizzas, burgers, steaks As a tourists restaurant, prices are more expensive About the pizza the pasta is quite thin so if you are craving for a thicker one this isn't the good place
Food was ok, but overpriced. They have no wifi and they don't jave any limes for the corona beer (they gave me what seemed lile lemon or lime juice). There are better and cheaper options on this street.

The worst margaritas we have ever had. Too much salt and too much lime
We came here because we fancied a pizza, and the reviews generally indicated good quality. Here is an honest overview of what to expect. Firstly, we had to queue to get in, then once sat it took well over an hour to get any food, and it really wasn’t very busy. Looking at the kitchen, there isn’t any visible cohesive stations and there is a lot of standing around. It didn’t seem like there was much multitasking, which is strange for a place that primarily cooks two things, pizzas and pasta. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Drinks were also incredibly slow, and the cocktails are pre-mix out of a jug. It took me about 20 mins to get a corona I ordered. The pizza is okay, the dough is actually quite decent with a solid prove, and cooked in a brick oven at a good temperature giving it a nice crispy bottom. The issue with the pizza is the cheese, which is cheap, dehydrated mozzarella, and tastes like string cheese. It really lets it down, and has an odd, artificial flavour and plasticky texture. The pasta was okay. We had spaghetti bolognaise and we enjoyed it. It has a nostalgic flavour, reminding me of a cafe or school, but it was undeniably tasty. The Parmesan is the synthetic powder type which probably adds to making it taste like school. The spaghetti was certainly overcooked, but generally we actually quite enjoyed it, the sauce was flavourful and it scratched an itch. Overall, we waited a long time for everything, and the food was okay. But it’s actually okay value as the prices aren’t too high. If it wasn’t for the crazy slow service it would likely be 2 stars.
Avoid this place. I ate here with a friend this week. Service: Our server was an aloof young woman who approached our table with a dismissive attitude. she forgot my order for water and i had to remind her. She brought our appetizer AFTER she brought our main courses. She then essentially ignored us for the rest of our meal. she didn’t ask if we wanted dessert and had to be told twice to bring the bill. she ruined my experience at this place. Food: we ordered BBQ wings which had an overly thick sauce. Very unappetizing. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara, and was served a plate of spaghetti noodles with alfredo sauce and bacon bits. in other words, it was not at all spaghetti carbonara. my friend’s burger was good, i think. Atmosphere: the space is cute, but they kept allowing stray dogs from outside to wander the restaurant and beg for food from customers. That is beyond disgusting. Update: i am updating my review after reading the the owner’s response. the condescending tone and dismissive attitude is exactly in line with the overall unwelcome persona and ambience of this place. The snide response from the owner that i should have read the description of their non-spaghetti carbonara ignores the fact that real spaghetti carbonara does not have any cream in it! They should call the dish something else, but it is definitely NOT spaghetti carbonara. The owner then proceeds to say that dogs are more educated than people??! What?! Beyond hilarious. And then he also proceeds to tell me that the restaurant is “pet friendly” and I should vacation in places without animals since his staff allows stray dogs to beg for food. Again…um, what??! If you’re “pet friendly” fine, but if you also allow stray dogs to beg for food, you should add that your restaurant is “stray dogs that beg for food friendly.” The owner’s habit of responding to every negative review with defensive quips and insulting “advice” just exemplifies how bad the management of this establishment is. If you are an owner of a restaurant and cannot graciously accept criticism from customers, and instead feel the need to get defensive AND insult them, then you should not be in the restaurant business.

We had several pasta dishes and the catch of the day. The fish was disgusting. The pasta was awful. The server was even worse. I sent my fish back and said it was not good and they put it in a take out container and told me to take it home. Worst place in La Punta.
