Opinions de Taste of Thai Broadway
Great, cozy place with an approachable staff and traditional Thai menu. The food is authentic and flavourful. We had the shrimp pad Thai, red curry with beef, pineapple fried rice, fish cake, spring rolls and papaya salad. The service and great and feels like you're having at your Thai friend's house. Will come back again for sure.
We ordered the Tom Yam, Red Curry and Pad Thai and shared it between two of us. All were wonderfully tasty and we enjoyed varying the spiciness with the spicy sauce. When we returned to the nearby underground parking lot, which is not related to the restaurant, the entrance was closed. As we had no way to call the security company (we were travelers from Japan), so we went back to the restaurant and told them the situation, and the staff made a call them instead of us. Furthermore, they kindly let us wait in the restaurant until they arrived, even though the store was about to close. They also gave us tea when we left. Thank you very much for your kindness.
Came to taste of Thai midweek an hour before closing and we were greeted by our server who gave me the feeling as if the restaurant was closing which my wife also stated she felt. We checked the hours online as we were taking our seat. We realized the other two tables were just settling up and maybe the server wanted or needed a break. Prior to us ordering another table came in which seemed to make the experience smoother. There was still an hour left as per Google. We ordered calamari which was light and flavourful. There was no grease or feeling of heaviness from a deep fried dish. There was plenty of garnish and sauce. The sauce was a vinegar base and a tad sweet and a tad spicy. The pieces were larger and not overly chewy, cooked well. one of the better calamari dishes in the city. 8.5/10 As we ate the calamari I used the hot sauce which was delivered to the table for all of the dishes. The hot sauce had chillies in it which I tried. From here on out I could feel my face become warm and I began to perspire. This is important for things to come. As we ate the calamari and I was, at this point, glowing, the person who appeared to be the owner came to the table and inquired as to how the meal was going. At this point, my wife and I, were explaining how we were enjoying the calamari and the owner made a joke as to how I must have found it spicy which was right on the money and I explained to him that we were using the hot sauce. Forward to the mains. My wife ordered the red Thai curry with chicken. The sauce was creamy, seasoned, and did not have much spice but was loaded with flavor. I believe they may have gone easy on the spice given what the owner observed. The chicken was smothered in sauce and there was plenty of tender chicken on the plate. The portion appeared to be a tad small but with the side of rice, it was the proper amount. I would have liked for the dish to have a bit more bite. 8/10. I ordered the special we saw on the board outside, prawn stir-fry with cashews and mango in a peanut sauce. This was the highlight of the night. The sauce was perfect along with everything else in the dish. Copious amounts of large prawns, grilled onions, red peppers, carrots, peas, cashews and chunks of fresh mango. Having the mango there worked in conjunction with the sauce and other ingredients in the stir-fry. My wife loved the dish as well, she kept giving me bits of hers so she could eat more of mine. 9.2/10. Overall the lack of enthusiasm at the beginning of the night was overlooked by the lively gentleman whom appeared to own the restaurant, the quality of ingredients and flavors, and proper cooking of all the proteins left my wife and I saying we would definitely come back to dine here again. The possible owner appeared confident in the restaurants dishes given his calm, relaxed, and humorous demenor. He was charismatic and warm to be around. We did not have room for dessert but were intrigued by the deep fried banana/mango dish.
Such a delightful experience! First time eating here, not even a big thai food eater, and was not disappointed :) . I got the Drunken Noodles with tofu and vegetables and it was very delicious! I had the dish at 2 spices for level of heat and it was just the right amount for me. I was also very pleased that, as someone with Celiac's Disease, that there was a lot of gluten-free options and some good vegan/vegetarian options as well. The owner and staff were also very friendly, accommodating, and helpful :) ! Highly recommend this place!
It was our first time visiting and we had such a great time! The food was amazing and the owner made us feel so welcomed. The Thai Iced Tea is a must try! We had the spring rolls, red curry, basil fried rice and cashew chicken and every single dish was so delicious! Many people coming in knew the owner by name and you could tell they have alot of regular customers here. We will definitely come back again. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!
Once I was on earth, and I liked it. I got to look at the morning Dew of the sun, when everyone was in another realm. As anyone can tell by looking at it, the early mornings are meaningless. You are not supposed to be up so early. The warm blankets in the morning are meaningless. Assignments, clothes, nail paint, and lipstick. I don't actually know what stars look like. I think it has something to do with science. There are things more important than daily chores. I miss my people.
I had an amazing experience at Taste of Thai The food was absolutely delicious—full of authentic Thai flavors and perfectly cooked. Every dish I tried was fresh and packed with taste pad Thai, mango sticky rice. On top of that, the owner was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the whole experience even better. The service was great, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves Thai food!
The Thai food was delicious, offering a truly authentic taste of Thailand, although some ingredients might differ slightly. The service was fantastic – it felt like visiting a friend's home. I really appreciate the warm welcome from the staff.
Our family has been coming here regularly for years. It is absolutely the best Thai food I have had in Vancouver. The seafood is fresh, the sauces and soups have fresh basil and lemongrass etc. the drunken noodle and green curry are our favourites but there are many great dishes and the owner Sam and his staff are lovely and welcoming.
This is an exceptional Thai restaurant with a road selection of authentic Thai cuisine. Don't forget to try the tasty and unique Angel Wings as a starter. The menu is complete, and the taste is great. We enjoyed visiting with the owner.
This is our first time here. Taste of Thai is very cozy and the food is fabulous! The 4 of us ordered Tom Yum, pad Thai, satay chicken, and pineapple fried rice. We also ordered mango sticky rice, tapioca pudding with banana, and fried banana with vanilla ice cream for dessert. The food is authentic and tasty, and I especially love the Tom Yum and fried banana! Thai iced tea is also good, It’s quite sweet but I like it. The staff are friendly, and they even made two flavours of chicken wings for us :D (because some of us can’t eat too spicy). I will definitely revisit this place again for delicious Thai food✨
Taste of Thai is a taste of flavor and delicious food! The food came out relatively quick and the plating was a beauty. The food was very reasonable priced. And It is clear that the restaurant takes a lot of pride and care with the food they serve. The Drunken Noodles were very flavorful and the spice has a good kick to it. The staff is extremely friendly and my table had a wonderful time here for dinner. Taste of Thai has a very nice and cozy ambiance and I highly recommend coming here!
We ordered the Panaeng (Prawns and Scallops)with rice and Drunken Noodles (chicken) and they were both amazing. It was the best Thai food I had in Vancouver. Full of flavour and aromatics and a perfect balance of spiciness. PS: I took the photo of the noodles after we had some of it. It was well presented in the plate before we begin eating 😄🍽️
Nestled in Vancouver’s West Broadway, Taste of Thai radiates authenticity and familial charm. Run by a delightful trio – daughter, mother, and father – the restaurant exudes warmth and hospitality. The daughter, a graceful hostess, effortlessly guides diners through a menu bursting with vibrant flavors. In the kitchen, the matriarch works her culinary magic, crafting dishes that transport taste buds to the streets of Bangkok. Meanwhile, the patriarch’s jovial presence infuses the restaurant with laughter and camaraderie, treating guests like cherished family members. From fiery spice of the curry’s to comforting Pad Thai, each dish is a flavorful masterpiece. Beyond the food, Taste of Thai offers a sanctuary where dining is a celebration of tradition and togetherness. For a taste of Thailand and a heartwarming experience, this family-run gem is a must-visit in Vancouver.
Loved Thai food at this place. It was suggested to me by my friend. The pineapple fried rice tasted so good. The cabbage rolls were delicious. Overall loved the food. Great hospitality and customer service. Rating 5/5. They provide complementary chips for taste. Do not forget to ask for peanut sauce. Thats really good. You will get peanut sauce only if you ask. Mango sauce is also complementary.
The drunken noodles were very flavourful with the perfect amount of spice kick. The red curry was equally flavourful and delicious with a side of coconut rice. If you like spice, highly recommend the in house made chilli sauce. Decent wine list with pairing notes at a good price compared to Vancouver prices in general. Serendipitously, the owner Sam used to at run Wimaan. Which was my favourite up until now. Sam is very gracious and the service from everyone was exceptional. Our new go to Thai place.
Because it's in Kitsilano, the place is a little far away from me, but whenever I get the opportunity to be around here, I definitely go here to eat. Not only is the food superb, the service is excellent. The staff are attentive and kept my glass full at all times. The owner would approach us and strike a conversation with us. He's really attempting to make our experience here a very good one. Overall, I had a very positive experience here and I do not mind tipping more than I should.
The service here was excellent! My pad thai was a tad too sweet but otherwise loved the presentation. The veggie pad thai had plenty of vegetables, tofu and egg which made it truly satisfying. The owner made rounds to make sure we were enjoying our food and checking if we needed anything to make our experience better.
Such a hidden gem. One of the best tasting Thai food I had. The owner was also graceous to accommodate our dietary preference (vegetarian). We went here by accident but we will definitely visit again.
I just found out about Taste of Thai from my Thai friend. This restaurant is one of 3 oldest Thai restaurants in Vancouver ( Taste of Thai, Sala Thai , Sawasdee on Main). Their foods are authentic and very flavourful. My favorites are Padwoonsen (Stir fried vermicelli) and E-san papaya salad. Not many Thai restaurants here offer these 2 menus. Don't forget to order stuffed chicken wings and deep fried banana! I would go there every weekend if I lived in the area.
Delicious and authentic Thai food made by amazing chefs!! Super rich and aromatic. Best Thai restaurant in Vancouver hands down. If you want a good spicy challenge you can ask them to make anything on the menu spicier and they make it gooooood. The waiters/owners were passionate and helpful. They make you feel welcomed and just offers amazing service overall. 10/10 would recommend!
This place is incredible! We got there 15 minutes before close not expecting them to seat us, and the owner welcomed us with open arms. He was kind and told us not to rush! Besides the impeccable service, the food was DEVINE! Ordered the pad Thai and prawn red curry. The curry (pictured) was creamy and flavourful with just enough heat. Definitely will be back again and if you haven’t already check them out!

One of my favourite authentic Thai places in the city. The staff are so kind and have the biggest smile on their faces. I loved their pad Thai, the portions are also so generous for the price. Please support local businesses and come here!
We often go to A Taste of Thai with family and friends. The food is excellent, the service careful, the atmosphere friendly. Wonderful flavours with spicy food but not overwhelmingly hot - a place where I can take both my students and my dad. The owner Sam worked with me to cater two parties at my place, the last one with over 30 people. He set nuts on the side to deal with allergies, had 2-3 nice vegetarian options. The food arrived steaming hot and everybody loved it. Strongly recommended.
Nice and quiet place. Zero "funny stuff" in the food. Been eating there with the family several times a year for the past 10 years or so and the quality of the food has never lessened. Other restaurants overcook the prawns (and other proteins) but never had that here - just an example of the care taken in preparation.
My husband and I were visiting Vancouver from out of town and we're so happy we stopped into Taste of Thai. The food was delicious and the service was warm and inviting. The owner chatted at length with us and took the time to get to know us. We felt so welcomed. We will 100% return the next time we are in town!

When we walked in we were the only table there which was a little scary. But we sat down anyways. Service was excellent and the owner (I think) was super friendly. We order pad Thai, Penang curry, coconut soup, pineapple fried rice and a couple of starters. Didn't really like the fish cakes, but everything else were ok, not super delicious but not bad either. I used to work at another Thai restaurant and I think theirs were a little better than this place. Not a bad experience by all means but probably won't make a special trip there either
Good Thai food. All the dishes you expect in the menu. Friendly staff and manager (maybe owner) who even knew some of the customers' names. They adjusted the spiciness of a dish upon request. Waitress was wearing a very beautiful Thai style clothing. Free parking in the neighbourhood and a short walk. Prices were a bit high for what you get. #Thai #Vancouverfoodie
The food is pretty good here and we saw many take outs from this restaurant while we were having dinner. This restaurant must be pretty popular around the neighborhood. The only thing is the portions of dishes are a little bit small and it would have been nice if there were coconut rice to go with the green curry.

Very average. Bland and basic. Surprisingly expensive for what you get. Note, ordered as take out. I wonder if the 5 star ratings are for dine in ambiance.
Dined in here a few weeks ago and it was alright! I have honestly had way better thai food at a better price point. The pad thai was a smaller portion than expected and lacked flavor. I tried my friend’s curry and it was very good though! Just expensive for the food and service you are getting.

; Portions are really disappointing. I literally only got 4 tiny prawns in my dish. $15 dish for 4 prawn? Hmmm. The pad thai lacked that sweet/savory balance; it lacked flavor. We were sweating eating our hot food in this hot restaurant. There's no air flow or air conditioner. The service was friendly, but the food and portions can be improved tremendously. I enjoyed the complimentary shrimp chips. Pretty deceiving ratings. Don't be fooled! 👎🏼
Pretty disappointed , ordered takeout- was 45 dollars for pad Thai, Massaman curry and a tiny container of rice. The massaman curry was not good at all- 1 piece of chicken drumstick and a tiny piece of a part of a chicken thigh were in it and the sauce was mostly oil when usually massaman curry is quite creamy . For how expensive the meal was I’m not happy with the quality at all. The pad Thai was the only part of the meal that was half decent.
As a Thai food lover and chef by trade, I was truly disappointed by the quality of the food. The price point was medium high and the quantity was small and the flavour was minimal at best (and incredibly salty). I really wanted to love the food as it’s so convenient but after this experience it will take a while to attempt again. They were exceptionally busy, which may have caused a lack of attention to quality in the kitchen. It’s better to say the are out of a dish than to try and create one quickly which lacks the quality and consistency.

I had an absolutely dreadful experience at this restaurant! I asked for warm water, and the waitress offered tea instead, which was then charged without my consent or prior notice. This is not only misleading but downright dishonest. To make matters worse, we waited almost 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The fish cakes we ordered were lukewarm at best—clearly just reheated in a microwave. The Pad Thai was a joke: tiny portion, tasteless, and nothing like what you'd expect from a decent Thai restaurant. This has to be the worst Thai food and service I’ve ever encountered, and I honestly can’t understand how this place has a 4.5 rating on Google. It feels like a scam. I would strongly advise against dining here—it's a complete waste of time, money, and calories!
