I love their food, but the service is subpar. They told me they don’t use any delivery apps, yet they’re still listed here and on Grubhub. I only found out when I called to ask about a menu item and was told they don’t use delivery apps—but that they do deliver themselves. When I asked if they could deliver upstairs to my apartment (just a few blocks away), I was put on hold “to find out.” When I called back, the person said she’d ask the cook how long it would take to make carnita frita and then call me back. This is a regular menu item—it’s not complicated and shouldn’t take long. Then she mentioned she had to serve a table and would call me back. That was over an hour ago. I never got a call, no food came, and they’re still active on the app. It’s frustrating to really enjoy the food but deal with such unreliable service. I wouldn’t recommend calling to order—in my experience, it’s better to go in person. Even then, the service can be spotty, but at least you’re more likely to get helped.

This spot has good food. However, unfortunately, I always have a bad experience with this particular place. I have been ordering catering since 2021 and I always have issues with the price of the Pernil. At first in 2021 the pernil was $65 but then 6 months later went up to $70 and again 6 months later $75 which I was okay with it but now I called to place the same catering that I had 4 months ago and the lady that answered the phone said $80 for the pernil and I asked why are they changing the price every few months and she dares to say it's always been $80 with an attitude at first I was so confused because what!? I just felt so annoyed at that moment because I have ordered catering from them since 2021 and I just got to the point where I would just take my money elsewhere because honey these people are just rude and I had other bad experiences with this same spot but I had enough of this spot.

First of all I asked them for a lunch special, and they charged me 17 dollars for a mangu lunch special … where they do that at ? Then the lady was mad rude and look irritated, there was a bunch of drunk old man just sitting around looking and being weird! And for that 17 dollars food was definitely not 17 dollars worth. I never in my life paid 17 dollars for a lunch special . But I wouldn’t have cared to spent the money of the workers were nice and welcoming and if there wasn’t a whole bunch of drunk Men around just staring ! Pepper steak was salty ! And mangu looked 4 days old

I enjoy the food from here but the service from delivery drivers is awful. I understand this NYC and some apartments may be sketch. But as a single mom with 2 kids, I can’t ALWAYS go downstairs you know? One of my kids is sick with stomach bug so I decided to order to give me an easy night. Any parent would understand. My Spanish isn’t great (I’m not Hispanic) but I attempted to speak in my broken Spanish telling the driver that he had to come up. He refused. He spent a solid 20 minutes downstairs to argue and batter with me vs just coming up. The man who answered when I called the restaurant is the only reason I’m rating 5 stars. He explained why they don’t like coming up. I explained I can’t come down or I would. I apologized for not answering the phone within first minute or so the guy called because it silences unknown numbers and he understood. The man at the restaurant (who I didn’t even catch his name) understands customer service.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. We waited over an hour for our food with little to no communication or updates from the staff, which was frustrating and poorly handled. To make matters worse, there were no prices listed on the menu, and when the bill arrived, everything was extremely overpriced for what was served. The food itself was mediocre at best and absolutely not worth the wait or the cost. Overall, the lack of transparency, service, and value made this an awful experience, and I would not recommend it.

Ordered a big pickup for 6:30 Pm didnt get it until 7:30 other than that food was great my party loved it all. Edit a year later and their service is only getting worse. Ordered a catering for 5pm and it is almost 8pm and still no word on a $230 order! DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE THEY DO NOT CARE.

BAD SERVICE!!! Their delivery driver hit my car and drove off! I have it on camera! When I called the restaurant, they said their delivery people don’t have cars!!! Liars!

Food is okay, but the service is awful called to ask for a pickup order and of course I get hung up on because they chose to not want to under what I wanted. And I hate being this person fr 🤷🏾‍♀️😭 but life I guess

My mom always order here . She asked for lemon chicken with vegetables. Where’s the vegetables ? It’s not the first time either . We always order and there’s always an issue . The ladies over the phone are unprofessional as well . Mind you this was around $30 for some dry chicken .

To be completely honest I rarely ever do reviews but today I took a bite into this food and immediately was pissed off I’m so hungry right now and mad this food tastes like absolutely nothing at all the pernil is dry and flavorless they didn’t have yellow rice and beans just white rice with beans i requested a lemon as I always do when I’m trying from a new place because the lemon will save the taste sometimes but baby not today it tastes like I squeezed lemon on bread OLD BREAD the fact that this cost almost 20 dollars is insane the portion size was very small I’m talking a small scoop of meat which could be made up for with flavor but everything is just messed up across the board I hate trolling but I had to come and say something the taste of this food left me feeling defenseless I feel as though I just got robbed ! I’m super disappointed and don’t want somebody trying something new to have to share the disappointment . Also the staff have no training in hospitatlity mannerisms energy everything was off here

They made mangu soup, literally the most watery and disgusting mangu I’ve ever had, cost me $9 dollars for something it was even disgusting to look at. When back for a refund and got denied, horrible.

I don't usually post a review when dissatisfied but I had to bring some attention to this. I am extremely disappointed. I ordered dinner from this restaurant on February 3, 2023 for my husband and I - Combo Number 2, and beef pastelitos'. The chicken was very dry, the brown rice with black beans tasted as if it had been sitting for awhile and was vary hard. The pastelitos were hard around the edges and also tasted like they had been sitting for awhile. The salad was not fresh, lettuce was turning brown and tomatoes' were stale. Never again!!!
