Què diuen els clients de La Masa Restaurant
La Masa is a neighborhood favorite known for its generous portions of authentic Colombian food and friendly staff, especially Rosa and Elizabeth. Empanadas are a hit, but some find the seasoning inconsistent or meat overcooked. Expect a cozy, sometimes loud, atmosphere.

Opinions de La Masa Restaurant Bronx
This was my second time coming here and the food is amazing. The empanadas are delicious and the entree I had (shrimp in a creamy cilantro sauce) was to die for. The staff are friendly and very attentive. I definitely would recommend this place to anyone and I definitely will be making a third trip soon.
this is an amazing restaurant. from our waitress to the food to the ambiance - everything was perfect! i dream about going again and again. the empanadas were perfection and my platano dish w mushrooms and onions was juicy, sweet and savory and all my favorite flavors. might stop by tonight! enjoy and share this amazing place. thanks to all who make it possible!
Cilantro lime Chicken was amazing. So much flavor. I had 2 passion fruit mojitos which did not disappoint! Our waiter Santiago was very attentive. We will be back!
My daughter took us here and we lived the food. There was a variety of choices to choose. Well presented. Staff was courteous. Food was delicious. Will definitely have to come back for more on our next trip to the Bronx, NY
Food and service was top notch. The young lady was on point and made my experience amazing. Mango margaritas was on point. Will definitely visit. FYI lunch menu was dope 🔥🔥
La Masa is awesome. The portions are huge, the foods delicious, it's a great value with a nice vibe. I didn't try desserts but will be sure to next time. They own La Masa Bakery too, id like to go in the future and buy some breads and sweets to take home or bring to someone's house. My tables food took a long time to come out but they were pretty busy n the waitress was very friendly.
First time going to this restaurant....I can say I had a great time. The staff is awesome, very kind and accommodating. We expected a 20 seat party and they were very nice to have it set up for us last minute. They made my mother's birthday very special! And the food is very good. The sangria was great. Next time I go am going to have margaritas because i heard they were good too. Thank you La Masa, I'll make sure I recommend you guys.
La Masa is one of the best restaurants in Morris Park. It has become a regular happy hour & dinner spot for me. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is welcoming and fun. Elizabeth is attentive and super friendly. Highly, highly recommend!
Excellent Colombian Food with great service. Parillada, bandeja paisa & sancocho among our favorites. We introduced our family to it. The only negative is that I am cautious when ordering out or online because things are forgotten, like juices or sauces.
This place could not come more highly recommend. The food is excellent. The service is attentive, warm and prompt. We have been coming here at least once a month for years and have always had extremely positive experiences. Catering is also excellent. While we were not able to have La Masa cater our wedding (ohhhh 2020) Paula was phenomenal and still makes us feel at home every time we come into the restaurant.
Had a great experience! Elizabeth and Carlso provided amazing customer service! I got the cheeseburger empanadas is to die for! I also got the chicken saltado was very flavorful! I caught the happy hour and got a mango margarita! So good and strong! Don’t hesitate! You won’t regret it!
Went for their happy hour and the food was delicious, the drinks were strong and tasty, and the server was so nice. She always went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied. I will definitely be going back again.
I have been going here since they opened. Family owed business who cares about their customers and most importantly employees and of course serving the best food. Also shout out to the sangria! Ely and Rosmely go above and beyond to make the guests welcomed and appreciated. They are an extension of the owners. Highly recommended if you don’t want Italian food in the Morris Park area!
Ordered take out for our drive home from NYC and were not disappointed. Gluten free empanadas are something that are hard to find so having that as an option was perfect for someone with an allergy. The restaurant was really busy when we arrived for pickup, but during a Sunday at lunchtime that was to be expected, but the staff was great at managing expectations and communicating during the whole process. Definitely had a family run feel and atmosphere, and would not hesitate to go back. Would highly recommend.
I love this place. It’s a lovely local Columbian spot that has great food, drinks and the kindest employees. The music is always great and there is NEVER a long wait for tables. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just looking for a nice Happy Hour? Make La Masa your new spot! You won’t regret it. My Menu Favorites: Hawaiian Empanadas Cuban Empanadas Guava & cheese empanadas Maduro Relleno de Pollo y Queso Cilantro Lime Chicken Camarones Caribeños
All of the above are true. We spent about 2 and a half hours at La Masa. It was my Birthday dinner and I enjoyed it very much. My son and his girlfriend have been there on several occasions and they love it.
Had late breakfast Saturday morning and I ordered a delicious chorizo w egg and avocado on an arepa! 🫓 it was delicious and very filling just this one plate! My friend got the same thing! I opted for a yummy passion fruit juice, one of the best I’ve had in NYC! the server was wonderful and the vibes were chill! Would love to visit again for lunch or dinner, I’m happy we finally came to sit and enjoy a meal at La Masa! 🩷🫶
First time here and it was a fantastic experience! Rosemary was awesome...very friendly, attentive, and had such a positive energy about her! The food is absolutely delicious, flavorful and cooked to perfection, and the hefty portions will definitely give you leftovers, so two meals! We will definitely come back! :)
It tastes authentic. Just like how a grandmother or mother would cook it. I have no complaints it tastes exactly how its supposed to.The atomosphere is cozy and the food is cooked in a reasonable timeframe. Hmm i have one suggestion. The desert bar has stuff like flan and cake but.. not much else. Thats fine but more deserts would be great!
One of my favorite restaurants in all of the Bronx! I have been coming here with family for about a decade now. The staff is always kind and attentive. The food is always delicious, hot, and beautifully presented. The space has expanded a few times so that now it is larger than when they first began. It also now has an outdoor seating space with cover! They have an entire vegan menu which has been known as Boogie With A Vegan. The options are vast and it truly exemplifies the best that Colombian food has to offer. If you partake in alcoholic beverages, I absolutely recommend trying to Creamy Passion drink made with Colombian Aquardiente!
I walked inside of here one afternoon with one simple purpose: grab a to-go menu and use it after I was done going plant based. I had 3 weeks to left and I was looking forward to eating a heaping pile of Colombian food. Next thing I know I look at the actual menu and see that there are several vegan options. I didn't have to wait 3 weeks to get my grub on at this wonderful Morris Park restaurant And boy was I happy I didn't. As of this writing I've been there twice and this is what I've feasted on so far: their portobello mushroom burger which is a must eat, their vegan "sausage" and peppers with yuca fries which I can say I am fully obsessed with, their vegan patacon with mushrooms and assorted veggies, mushroom empanadas to die for, a vegan version of their Carrilera burger which was hearty, delicious and a definite must, vegan baked apple pie empanadas and their crazy good vegan whipped cream and strawberries. While I do look forward to chomping down on some meat dishes in a littles less than two weeks, I'm so happy I found this spot with delicious vegan dishes, great drinks and awesome drinks.
Update: They have expanded the restaurant so there is a lot more seating now. I went there with my wife for a late Sunday morning breakfast. The place was fairly empty and it's relatively small, but my God the food is wonderful! We shared some empanadas (spinach and cheese as well as Nutella variety) and a plate with a type of corn bread, eggs, beans, and a sausage. I definitely recommend that you try this place out.
Food is delicious, but they can be very cheap with the avocado. I ordered for delivery one night and only received ONE slice of avocado and was charged 5 DOLLARS!!
Took my mom for a last minute birthday dinner and she loved it. My mom usually goes to the east tremont location but was surprised that the food was just as good at this location.
Had take out from this location. The variety and quality of the empanadas is amazing. They have savory (my favorite is the chicken cilantro) and sweet (the guava cheese is so good!) I did not care for the dipping sauces as they tasted mostly like mayo. The arroz con pollo was flavorful and delicious.
I went here for the empanadas and they were great! The entrees were very good also. Big portions and plenty of options. They have vegan options also which is a plus. The drinks were very good. I took off a star because the server was a little slow. He was nice and funny, but my food came out after other tables that were seated way after my table. Other than that, it was a great dinner.
A hidden Colombian gem in the Bronx (!) of all places. My wife didn't want to have to go to Queens or New Jersey to have cuisine from her country so I did a Google search for something close to home. I came across La Masa and we were happy we went. The food was delicious and served in large portions AND at a reasonable price. The service was excellent and the manager was attentive. We left with full bellies and with doggy bags. Excellent find. We will be back!
Service was quick and great. The empanadas not the best. I ordered some beef empanadas, it was bland and the “spicy” sauce was not helping. However their passion fruit juice w DELICIOUS! I would go back and try something else. Hopefully their typical dishes are way better than the empanadas.
Love the food. One of my favorite places. However, when I order delivery is a hit or miss. Recently we had a maduro relleno to go, sadly it tasted spoiled, we couldn’t eat it. Other times the food is as good as dine in. Must have: Sancocho, empanadas, carrileros, bandeja paisa and salchipapas loaded. All the menu is great.
This is one of my go-to spots in the area! The vibe is nice, with great happy hour drink specials and friendly service. Main Pros: There is almost always walk-in seating available. The food and drinks are tasty (I'm a fan of their creative empanadas, yellow rice/black beans, patacones, and frozen margaritas). Main Cons: They sometimes run out of their most popular empanada selections and service can be very slow at times. Also, the chairs can be uncomfortable for larger bodies. Overall, I'd definitely recommend that you give this place a try!
I saw this place being advertised on TV and thought I'd give it a try, its on the corner of the street and it's sign is brightly lit so you can't miss it. Its a small restaurant, with a generic look and feel and a open kitchen where you literally can see into...nothing special about the way it looks inside. However it is organized, clean, and wasn't busy at the time I arrived which was dinner time. Service was good they where pretty tentive to me and the person I was with and understood all our wants and needs. Food came out at a decent time and it was good. We ordered fruit juices along with our food and they where watered down so we had to get them exchanged several times before we decided to go with a different beverage. Restroom is unisex and very small yet clean, no customer parking here, prices are fair... overall I had a good time here and would try it again sometime hoping my experience next time would be even better. Thanks
The empanadas were good, I ordered a shrimp/salmon platter from the lunch special $30 and everything was good until I got to the salmon (which was ultra salty - luckily I don’t have hypertension or blood pressure issues) - I told the server and the least they can do is apply a discount for giving me a salty meal I didn’t finish. But they didn’t. Hence, why I gave three stars.
Honestly, I don't get what people like about this place. I've tried a bunch of stuff from the menu and the food is always bland to me. Maybe thats how they cook in colombia, i'm just used to more flavor.
I feel mixed here. I came here twice; the first time with my godson who goes to st francis just a block away, and that time I liked it. He had a cheeseburger and I ordered an empanada. I came back for a second time last week but things didn't taste as good as the first time. I ordered chicken which tasted bland. The safest bet is probably to stick to their empanadas.
I had a vegan dish that had maduro and "beef-less meat with vegan cheese" that was good, but the meat imitation lacked flavor. And take it from a vegan who visits a lot of great vegan restaurants in New York state. I suggest working with some vegan restaurants for better taste in imitation meats. I also had the vegan empanadas and as soon as I split it in half there was a big splash of liquid that splashed all over that I believe it came from the mushroom discharged liquids. Taste also lacked flavor, but with the sauces they provide helped with taste, so it can vary. This is my personal opinion, but I've visited great vegan spots that really wowed me and this place didn't. The good part is that they not only cater to vegans, but also omnivorous. And it's good to see people not judge one another on eating habits. I do recommend this place and believe they will improve on vegan meat imitations. 🙏🏽
I've been to 2 La Masa locations, and there was a Huge differences in seasoning. This location had too much of a Dominican flavor to their dishes. The fact that the service staff were unfamiliar with Colombian food and the names of the dishes seemed key. The food was good, but not what was expected, especially when one is going to feed a craving.
I got the 4 empanadas for $12 and picked up. When I got there I got a sangria as well. The food was mid, pizza and shrimp empanadas. The pizza was just sauce and cheese no pizza seasoning or taste like pizza , the shrimp was also under seasoned. Sangria was mid-it was like $20 I don’t feel anything. Maybe they just not known for their empanadas.
I wish I liked the food more because the service was phenomenal and I really like the atmosphere. This is the second time I have tried their sancocho. The first time was about a year ago. A co-worker introduced the place to me and we were there specifically for sancocho. It was so salty that I just couldn't eat it, and I'm a salt lover! Fast forward one year later, another co-worker went and picked some up for lunch. It looks great! Honestly, I remembered the flavors through all the salt and being very good. The following day I went to pick some up for myself thinking that the first time was just a fluke. It was not a fluke. The sancocho was so salty that I was having heart palpitations after three spoonfuls. It was a Saturday and I was the only person in the office. I actually had to leave the office to go outside in case something happened to me medically. I didn't want to get sick alone inside the office. I have never had high blood pressure in my entire life, but it felt like my blood was just racing through my body. I just don't understand how this soup is so popular. The amount of salt is mind-blowing. And I will reiterate that I like salt. I just don't understand how people eat this. I also ordered an empanada. The grease had permeated through the bag and had discolored the sleeve that they put the empanada in, then went all the way through to the bag that was holding the empanada in the sleeve. The empanada shell was so greasy it made me the breading that holds the meat a completely different color from what it was originally. You can see a spot here or there where the grease hadn't reached yet. I was shocked! That also went into the garbage.. I also ordered a green salad with tomatoes and avocado. I brought it back to the office, opened it up, and it didn't have any avocado on it. I will say one thing, the greens were fresh and dark green. Even though part of the ingredients weren't in it, the salad was an excellent. To summarize, after two visits to the same restaurant, most of the food was inedible. As far as the salad greens go, you can get salad greens anywhere. I will not be returning
Just another in the long list of Bronx restaurants that decline in quality. Prices are higher, food is underwhelming, deliveries and orders all wrong from missing items, food spilled in bags. I don’t know what’s happen but this place has declined drastically. Coworkers and I placed a large order and not one person liked their food. That was the final straw, for the amount of money spent you’d expect decent food and service. I have given this restaurant far too many chances over the course of a year only to be disappointed time and time again.
On Easter Sunday! One waiter very un ethical and unprofessional. Does not know how to take order. The food needs authenticity!! How a Shrimp Ceviche be tasteless even with the onions. They don't even have a food hot sauce Sriracha it's not for all types of food!! Unless you don't know about good tasty food.
I was gonna rate this mid, but I wouldn't return, so I can't even do that. The piña colada is just a slushie, and the sweetness had no notes so it was just bland sweet, not dynamic at all. The shrimp empanada had only 1 shrimp. The coconut Mango shrimp just tasted like garlic. The guava empanada had powdered sugar on it which I HATE and wasn't told beforehand that it would have it, nor was it on the menu. The sancocho barely had corn. And we're used to having the corn on the cob in it. The music was TOOOOO LOUD. We asked them to turn it down and they did and it was better, but the Playlist didn't help. Only came here to celebrate someone else, so it wasn't my choice and I wouldn't choose to come here again.
I paid $18 for a plate of cilantro shrimp and rice and beans. Let me explain why it shouldn’t be so much. First, I have no issue with plenty of rice, but I do have an issue when it’s really the only thing in my huge plate. Second, I ordered shrimp with it and only counted 7 (about one scoop). It’s hard to justify a price of $18 when the portion of the food is filled with rice. Literally under the 7 shrimps is more rice that has been packed. A suggestion of going easier on the rice and putting a little more shrimp to balance off the plate would be a better idea since customers have to pay so much mainly for rice. My food did taste good on the contrary but it was just hard to enjoy the whole plate while eating mostly rice. My girlfriends plate of arroz con pollo was too salty in her opinion. We had it for the following day again (because it was plenty of food which i’m not complaining about) and she said it tasted even saltier. She was in Cuba and had it there and only wished this dish was less salty to rival the amazing food she enjoyed in Cuba.
First time there and it will definitely be the last. The hospitality was terrible they tell you which table is available and don’t even walk you to it. The food oh lord horrible. The picadera had absolutely no taste the meat was over cooked and the yuca was dry as hell and no taste. The main course, we ordered three different things and not one had any flavor. I can’t believe a Spanish restaurant with no taste. I’ve eaten Columbian food and it was amazing but this was terrible, absolutely terrible. I would never recommend. The drinks had no ice No salad dressing.and no salt and pepper on the table. I will never again patron this place.
I went with my children and everything we ordered was out of stock the waitress came about three times to tell me they didn't have the product and when I asked her what they did have she gave me a long list of what they didn't, my son is a vegetarian and I ordered for dessert a Nutella empanada but when he bit it *surprise* ! It was a meat empanada. We ordered food and and it either took 30 minutes to get here or the waitress forgot to bring it . The attention to the customer was HORRIBLE and the food was simple and not so tasty . Usually I don't give negative comments but I feel that the money I spent was thrown away in the trash .I suggest the owner that he updates the menu with the product the do have and he needs to actually train their staff to have a better customer experience they are always stressed and mad and you can sense it
Omg never again will I order food from here. The food must be old cause I ordered white rice, sancocho soup, sweet plantains, pork rind (chicharon) and a $5.00 slice of avocado which wasn’t a slice. I took one bite of pork rind with white rice and one plantain and I through up for ten minutes. I got a instant headache, felt flustered and felt faint. I had to sit for about 45 minutes to regain my composure. This is a scary thing so I don’t generally complain I. This manner but that’s scary to say the least so order at the store maybe so you can see the food cause I ordered online. I hope they fix this problem.
Garbage .... rice was loaded in garlic ... gross . Ordered an avocado salad guess what I got ... strawberries and sliced apples with spinach ... go figure... unbelievable. Never orderin here again
This place has changed so much. This is a family community. The restaurants here know their customers and the people in the neighborhood pretty well. La Masa used to be that way when they had the 2 family waitresses. This new group of waiters and waitresses has changed the dynamics of the place. They are slightly rude and have attitudes. The cooks have obviously changed because their food is not the same. They even stopped showing their food pics because they not longer look or make them like that. La Masa used to be great... its lost its taste and a regular patron
I order dinner from them my coworker got his bandeja paisa and I order bistec a la parilla but instead got bistec al caballo I called and let them know and they said to contact the app I ordered from and I did but they couldn’t do anything. The bistec Al caballo was cold and just the flavor wasn’t there also my co worker told me his “food was cold too and the taste was bland that it cost too much for little bit of food” the empanadas we order were warm and those were good. (How the empanadas were more hot then the actual food idk)he told me he don’t want to order from here again and kind of sucks I never got to tried the food I wanted in the first place.
Well , my best friend Catalina and I, we used to go to eat the empanadas and have a good time , but nowadays we decided not going there anymore because the high prices on the food and especially the crazy amount taxes they charge . And let’s not talk about the tips they ask for anything . In conclusion if you go there, and you wanna eat empanadas you need to spend more or less $200.
I have ordered from this place before and there is always an issue with this. Either they're unsure, they have to find a driver or whatever. The issue with ordering from the website is that I cannot order from both La Masa and Boogie with the Vegan at once even though they are the same place. I don't know why the menu is not in the same location to make it easier for the customer. Today, I called, and the lady told me to order through the website, but I informed her of this difficulty, and her response was, "I'll call you back, I'm a little busy right now." How would she call me back if she did not have my phone number? I found it incredibly rude and dismissive.
By far, I had the worst service ever from these people. I ordered lunch which took over an hour to be delivered to my office just 4 blocks away. I had to call several times and every time I was questioned as if they had no clue about my order. They also charged my card twice what the listed menu price was. Never again.
Ordered uber eats and someone was already picking up the order but restaurant decided to cancel. If the store is busy, I understand but the restaurant should call customers to let them know, as courtesy. I did not get a notification that it was canceled either. Store should close their deliveries if they’re gonna pull something like this. Do better.
La masa has been thoroughly disappointing and every time I try to give it another chance. You see, they used to be INCREDIBLE. I don't know what's happened, maybe covid affected them, I don't know. I ordered vegan salteados and replaced my rice with fries. I received my food in one container and my fries were a soggy mess. I was told on the phone that I have to tell them to put the fries on the side but why am I being told how to tell YOUR WORKERS HOW TO PACKAGE FOOD? Isn't that your job managers???? Common sense not to pack a liquid with FRIES!!!!! Every restaurant I worked with was serious about the packaging. Not for nothing something as small as this could be reported to FDA. They went from top tier to bottom tier since their opening and it's sad. There goes another option for my diet as a vegetarian. Beyond tonight, they've changed the black bean burger bun to something so dry it makes the black bean burger harder to swallow. I don't know if any of yall are eating the vegetarian food but everything I've ordered has been horrible lately :( the salteados were so bland(pictured below sogging up my fries), nothing like how it used to be. Oftentimes the food is either too salty or too bland. Maybe the meat dishes are good but 9 out of 10 times the food doesn't come out right for me. Im tired of waiting for food just to have them say they'll send me a replacement. I won't be ordering again.
I’ve ordered a number of times from this location but each time — the same issue! So much salt! I ordered a beef platter with the plantains — OMG! You cannot even eat it because the amount of salt that was used on this .. only one word to describe it- DISGUSTING!🤢🤢🤢🤢. All the food in the picture, is the food I could not eat because of the salt!! Be careful - in ordering from this place. Hate to write a review like this but I’m complained about this before to the manager and apparently it’s an ongoing issue. Unfortunately, I will not order from here again.
I stopped ordering from you for a while because the food quality was just half of good. So today I wanted something sweet, hard to find anything vegan with quality in The Bronx but what in the world is this?? Empty apple empanadas. Like come on be for real!!!!! You really need to rebrand and do some quality check on who's doing your food it's a never again for me... thanks but no thanks. I don't like complaining but you should be embarrassed. I've tried with you over and over but from horrible tasting soup, the veggie empanadas tasting bad and so many of your items there is no love in this food whatsover and uber eats won't give me my money back 😑
This place has gone super downhill lately. Prices went up a lot. And quality and service is way down. This is what happens when a place gets popular and starts thinking they are irreplaceable. We sat and ordere.d 30 mins later as they are about to bring out everyone else in my party's food, thwy come to tell me that they actually are out of the cilantro lime chicken that I ordered half and hour ago. Ummm, shouldn't you have known that a few mins after I ordered and not waited till the rest of the food was coming out. And then tried to convince me to get something else that I did not want at all. Will not be coming back at all. Glad to put this place in the rear view. A member of my party ordered a steak, and most of it was just fat, not even meat. Thwy also needed us to rimend them of the sidesthat they kept forgetting to bring multiple time. Also, the restaurant was less than 1/4 full, so what's thw excuse. 0 stars. Goodbye.
I decided to check out this restaurant after seeing their advertisement on TV. I am really disappointed that I wasted my time and money. The customer service was great but the food was burnt. I ordered shrimp empanadas and they were burnt. The food is overpriced. I will definitely not be ordering from here again. I am mad that I didn't realized that they gave me burnt empanadas until i got home.
