Opinions de Cup of Brooklyn Brooklyn
This is the best cafe if you want to get things done in a calming environment. The staff is professional and does not stress out patrons. Love their hot chocolate. Haven't tried their other items yet.
Love this place I just started coming and I’m obsessed! The flavor syrups are great not too sweet! Food was pretty good to but the pastries were really the star of the show.
what an unsuspecting place! because of the scaffolding i probably would've never noticed this spot if it weren't for a friend's rec. i'm glad i checked it out, though—friendly staff, delish donut, and great atmosphere to knock out a couple hours of work.
Great coffee shop with a rustic farmhouse interior. Very warm atmosphere, great places to get some work done, Although space isn’t big but there are plenty of seats to go around. All on Gates Ave in Bushwick, Brooklyn! Coffee is absolute high quality and the small bite are perfectly paired. The best ham and cheese croissant I’ve ever had, and I’m a picky eater! The baristas are super attentive and friendly. You’ll catch them sparking genuine conversations with the locals. It’s almost feels like a cafe you’d see on your favorite sitcom (haha), they’re that down to earth. I highly recommend this coffee shop to anyone in the Bushwick area. You won’t regret it. Cheers!
Love Cup of Brooklyn. My office away from home. Great, fresh coffee and the owners are friendly and warm. The decor is amazing. You can tell they put time into the concept. The cafe is very clean too.
❤️Love this little place! Great location, service and food! I had to have my apartment fumigated and as a result had to leave the apartment for four hours along with my cat and my roommates cat. This amazing place allowed me and the cats to chill while the apartment couldn’t be occupied! ❤️
One of my favorite places in the neighborhood. I love their chicken salad sandwich, and they make excellent espresso drinks. The sandwiches are also generally large enough that when I take one to go, I usually split with a friend, or have enough for lunch the next day. Staff is always sweet and friendly.
best ambiance and service, i love coming here and having all the baristas remember my name and order, they're all wonderful. bobby always remembers my music taste, heather is always soo sweet, and joanna makes a meaaann latte :) my favorite spot with my favorite baristas in all of brooklyn! also their cheese scones are fire
A comfy, family-run independent coffee shop with delcious quality food. The staff is always super welcoming and willing to go above and beyond to ensure everything is just right with your order. John and Agnes (the owners) are wonderful, hard working people, full of personality and charm. Whenever I have friends or family in town, I always make it a point to take them here.
Staff is A+. Even though it can be busy ive never had to wait long and everyone is always so friendly. They have tofu cream cheese and a vegan breakfast wrap. Coffee is really good so ill just get a black drip from them.
The owners started this little cafe near my apartment a several years ago. There coffee is strong and continenral breakfast assortment is excellent. Their nitro brew will have you doing cartwheels down Broadway especially if you hit the gym before or after. The decor in this place really charmed me as its an Etsy wonderland all created by the owners and seasonally refreshed leaving you feeling you are in a familiar space with something nee each visit. It has enough space to bring your laptop or just sit and people watch....:)
Updating my review (it's still my favorite). This is hands down, the best spot in the neighborhood. The service is exceptional, the owners are friendly, and coffee is wonderful (best lattes in Brooklyn, in my opinion). I truly hope they continue to thrive.
This is such a beautiful shop in Brooklyn . It was my first time there and the owner John was very helpful in helping me choose what to eat. He went above and beyond to ensure I was able to find something I enjoyed. It was very warm and calm inside, I’ll definitely be back 😊
Great little coffee shop. Cozy atmosphere, with cute decor and friendly staff. I stopped in to escape the rain and get a little work done. The shop was busy at times, but there's plenty of seating. They have a full list of coffee and tea beverages, sandwiches, small plates, and pastries. Free WiFi and good music selection.
Much needed Update still a Gem in my Neighborhood, 3 years ago my first visit was such a surprise was something I'll usually see in the city the owner's humble happy folks to see this business grow & expanded on was much smaller 3 years ago the decor is just beautiful feel at home vibe my go to Cappuccino & Turkey Sandwich 🥪 plus that chips on the side perfect, Won't be disappointed a must visit to see for yourself. Does get a bit busy as it should since everyone trying to get there morning rush of Caffeine so be patient folks (coming from a former Server).
I absolutely love this coffee shop. Everytime I've come the staff are friendly. The owners are wonderful and remember you. The food is delicious and the coffee is top notch! When i come here to work with my laptop the wifi always works well. I am australian and so we know good coffee... the Devotion coffee beans they use here are great. If you're after cheap watery gross coffee go to the bodega or dunkin donuts. If you want a good roast and crema and well steamed milk come here and pay the average price for a great cup of coffee. If you want to share a table with someone, ask them to share and they will shift thier things... people here are friendly because the vibe is friendly. Oh and my last take away- the lemon cake is incredible!
This place is the best coffee shop around! The owners John and Agnes, make it feel like Cheers! (Where everybody knows your name). The coffee is delicious and there is a wide variety of food choices, all of them tasty. This is a small business, owned by a hardworking couple who pour their heart into each cup of coffee- and you can tell.
Love this little place! My sister and I needed a great flat white and decided to give CoB a try... and we've been back numerous times since!! They have great coffee, great breakfast sandwiches, and delicious sweet treats. Just know that seating can be catch as catch can but, even if you have to get it to go, it's worth going!
Came here yesterday randomly with my friend and it was well worth it. The service was A1 and the coffee shop was cute and welcoming. It has a lil outdoor seating area to accommodate the inside seating area being closed due to Covid ofcourse. I ordered the salmon sandwich and Ginger turmeric latte.... let me tell you the turmeric latte was immaculate! It was my first time and def won’t be the last. You will not be disappointed. Would definitely recommend this place. So worth it. I also purchased their coffee bean candle. It smells amazing and isn’t overpowering at all. If you love coffee you will love the candle as well. 👌🏾
Cup of Brooklyn is an absolute gem in this neighborhood, or any other. The atmosphere, food, and drink options are great and so is the service. Lots of seating options, good WiFi, and nice music. The only negative I have is that the prices are quite high, equal or even greater than some cafes in Manhattan. In this neighborhood it's a bit of an outlier. For example, a basic grilled cheese and soup, typically the cheapest options on any Cafe menu, are $12.50.
Their coffee is delicious and they are super friendly
Love this place, I know I will definitely get my work done while enjoying an amazing hot sip and some tasty eats. I hear they are about to add a bar but aside from that the atmosphere is super chill and the staff is amazing.
Good coffee, good vibes and great staff!
I do come in for food and whatever I’ve ordered has been really good. But I also wanted to say thank you to the staff for holding it down. I left my sneakers in there rushing for work. And completely forgot about them til the end of the day. They were closed and I came back in the morning. They weren’t even open yet but the man that was there I’m sorry because I don’t know if he’s the owner. But he let me in and I told him what happened. He went to the back to search for my sneakers and found them. Thank you so so so much for the kindness. All of you thank you I really appreciate cause I was bummed that I’d lose them and I just bought them.
Not sure what all the complaints about customer service are about. I ordered a flat white. It was made well and the service was quick despite the long line. I was served by a girl at register who was very kind to me when I didn’t know what I wanted. The guy on bar was also nice and made my drink quickly!
I've wanted to try this spot for a while, but I don't really live in the area, and driving just for a cup of coffee seemed too much for me, I do have enough coffee shops in my neighborhood. Anyway I decided to go and try the place, and I'm happy I did it. I loved the mix of people coming in and out, the barista was super nice and professional. I really liked this place and definitely will be back
Everyone is always super friendly & there's never a very long wait for food. No matter who makes my coffee it's always super consistent & great which is hard to find. They also have vegan options which makes it super easy to always come here with anyone.Maple donut goes crazy
The most delicious almond coffee and almond croissant in Brooklyn!!!
Love this coffee shop. They just expanded it so there's more seating now. It's such a chill place to work or to pick up a great latte and snack. The owners are so sweet which adds to the vibe. I highly recommend this place and the breakfast burrito! It's going to be a neighborhood staple.
wow! best latte I’ve had in Bed Stuy. I had the cinnamon chili syrup which tasted homemade and fresh - not the cloyingly sweet kind of syrup you find at other places. my partner had the vanilla latte, also amazing. the everything bagel with homemade scallion dill cream cheese was also phenomenal, and the fresh chopped dill was the star. I’ve heard amazing things about the zucchini bread so I’ll come back for that next time! love this place!
Love this place! Cozy and pretty inside. Food is delicious (try the breakfast burrito or the sweet roll or those massive donuts!) but the drinks are the main attraction. The lavender latte (hot) is amazing. Rosewater latte is great too. A little pricy but so is Starbucks / any good coffee place in NY
Everything was great! Not a lot of outdoor seating and the train can get loud. But the food and drinks and indoor atmosphere were lovely.
I love this place! When it comes to floral flavored stuff I love it all and the fact that they offer rose lates and lavender is absolutely perfect. I highly recommend giving them a try. My only complaint is that if you are looking to have a seat sometimes it’s hard to find a seat inside however it makes sense why they are crowded.. the food, coffee, and ambiance is great. 💕
Amazing atmosphere, Amazing staff, Amazing coffee! It’s a triple AAA spot that’s a must visit if you love all things coffee (food too!). I recommend trying their signature coffee line selection by Devoción. Be it a simple drip coffee or a fancy latte you can’t go wrong with either.(It’s AAAmazing)
If you're looking for incredible coffee and the perfect croissant, look no further than Cup of Brooklyn. The staff is wonderful and makes everyone feel welcome. Having lived in France for a decade, I’ve been searching for a spot that captures that authentic feeling—this is it. It has truly become a home away from home for me and my friends. C'est un véritable morceau de Paris ici à Brooklyn.
Charging $6 for a cold brew, with a tip $7 feels like pushing the line a little too much, you know? Like I WILL pay it because I’m desperate and quite frankly, lazy. But that hurts a little. Giving five stars anyway because I’d like to believe I’ve transcended Google review culture… but can I please speak to a manager?
Fantastic coffee, great food and I like the warm ambience. Staff is really friendly. I highly recommend the Tuna on bagel or warp.
Best coffee in the area, been going there since 2020. Friendly staff and killer food. The southwest wrap and nutella latte are my favorite :)
Cozy little coffee shop that serves great food ! My partner and I both got different things and they were amazing. We got a ham and cheese sandwich and a sausage egg and cheese on a bagel. The sandwich was amazing the bread they used was perfect. Didn’t get to have any of their pastries but definitely going back to try they looked so yummy! As for drinks he got a hot chocolate and I did a lavender latte with oat milk. Both perfect! I am usually weary about lavandar some places use low quality syrup that tastes like perfume but this place was perfect. Espresso was brewed perfectly no burnt taste at all !
favorite place in the world, I'm not a reviews person but since I've been coming here for over 6 years now, it's time. The perfect coffee drinks, the perfect welcoming atmosphere, and a sense of community with the regulars. Solid food too. I prefer in person but there have been times I've had to order delivery when sick and I get nice little notes that just make my day. Above all, excellent freaking coffee.
100 % recommended. I didn't try much just the cappuccino and a Pain au chocolat and the coffee was terrific 💯, perfect toasted and bitterness. I was looking for a good coffee and it was perfect for me. the cozy and Peaceful ambience matches with the staff. I spilled my coffee and they gave me another one, they were really lovely, they really care for their customers.
Very convenient location. Food is decent. Filter coffee tastes just a little overextracted; espresso drinks perhaps a bit heavy on the milk. Staff are very friendly. Usually quiet but can fill up fast.
I love this place!!! Its very trendy, the people and its atmosphere is open and friendly. They offer a variety of selections of comfort foods and the service is always moving. And the coffee is 👍
One of my fav neighborhood coffee spots! Very cozy. Always super busy. Nice baristas. My only complaint is they sometimes make substitutions back in the kitchen. For takeout orders, I don’t realize this until I’ve arrived home. E.g., I’ll receive prosciutto on my ham and cheese despite seeing deli sliced ham on the sandwich in the display near the register. It’d be great if they noticed customers of the need for a substitute beforehand.
Lovely place, nice staff, great food (especially the baked goods) but sadly no decaf. My husband is allergic to caffeine so that is always a bummer (plus when they cater every kind of milk substitute but wanting no caffeine is always the weird thing...). Other than that, fabulous place
Very nice industrial spot, serving good coffee, good sandwiches in a warm welcoming environment with good playlist. Predominant use of raw wood and metal makes it cozy and stylish without being pretentious. I’ll def come back. Oh and they make their own syrups ( I tried hazelnut one ). A bit pricey for the area but overall it is worth it.
Been coming to this cafe for years — the coffee is always delicious, and the space is a great place to set up and work. Unfortunately, no gluten-free pastries or food — would be a 5/5 otherwise!
Aw this place is mad cute! My boyfriend and I decided to wake up early to get breakfast and coffee somewhere we hadn’t tried before. As long as I’ve lived around the block, I never stopped in (mostly because of the negative reviews I’ve seen regarding the mistreatment of POC… do better). From my personal experience today though, the atmosphere is pleasant and warm, the staff seems friendly, and the other customers were polite. The food is tasty and hearty (we got the everything bagel with cream cheese & the avocado mash), and their drinks are good too. Nice amount of seating, free wi-fi, and good vibe. I think I’d definitely come back. Just remember that as an establishment.. you’ve consciously decided to insert your café into a community of color (been here my whole life). Respecting this and the POC who’ve been here for years will help expand the diversity of your clientele. POC often warn other POC of establishments that give us a negative experience. Just a piece of non-spiteful advice.
Solid spot — would recommend. The only problem is the amount of laptop people. They turn it into an office — hard to find a seat and ruins any atmosphere.
Walked into this cafe on a late Monday morning as I was staying in the neighborhood. I ordered an iced Nutella latte with oat milk and the cup of brooklyn special bagel sandwich. The place was decently packed, but I was able to snag a spot along the window. My latte came out quickly but after 15 mins and observing others getting their food order before me, I went up to the cashier to check on my bagel sandwich. The worker told me it was almost done, then she went into the back, and immediately gave it to me. I’m guessing it was sitting there for a minute. The bagel sandwich was good, not very toasted, but the flavor was there.
Great little neighborhood coffee spot. Coffee is very tasty as are the parties. They have outdoor seating as well as indoor seats with a good number of outlets if you want to stay and work. There is a long communal table if you want to stay and chat. They have a great menu (breakfast and lunch) - although not many gluten free options. This is one of my Bushwick favs.
They were so close to giving me a full drink, but idk what happened. But they were close! And the drink was good, but missing about an inch of itself
Really cool place, Nice atmosphere with friendly service. Most importantly good coffee. This was a 5 star review until my man served us up with two gag cups. 15 mins after ordering Im on the subway when the bottom of the cup broke open. My metaphorical water broke and my butt was now the proud sponge of 8 oz's of hot bean soup. So it was a fluke, little laugh, some stained pants no big deal. Then solid couple minutes later SPLASH ,My buddy's coffee all over! We now appear incontinent 50 years too early. Cup of Brooklyn goofed us good , respect
Drinks (lattes, macchiatos, etc.) are very overpriced and they taste pretty average. Also, the staff seem to be very disengaged with certain customers compared to others. I went here a couple years ago and had the same experience— decided to try it again recently and was still disappointed. Meh. I think the general appeal of this place is more about the hype/ trend, tbh. I won’t be going here again. I want to find a more welcoming and authentic local coffee spot.
This place is okay, maybe just not for me. Laid back and cozy atmosphere. I didn’t really care for my food and coffee, and felt a bit sick after (but maybe it was something else I ate so I can see myself giving this place a second chance in the future.) My food didn’t take long, even when it picked up the service seemed to be on point.
The pastries are delicious! The coffee is good. However they often burn the scrambled eggs on my bagel sandwich, and today they took 22 minutes to serve it to me.
I have been here countless times over the last five years. The vibe is great, but in recent years, the quality of the barista drinks is really hit or miss. The drinks are more expensive and less good than most other coffee shops frequent. Homemade syrups are very tasty tho. If there were gluten free breakfast options, I would go more!
I ordered through a delivery app. And made a comment in the request, as well as called the store. I ordered a sandwhich and just incase (because sometimes in bk the do this)- I informed them of an allergy. They store confirmed my order and allergy. So I was like! Great! Sandwhich shows up, with out thinking- i take a bite and there it- my allergy. I called the store to them know. He said he was taking it off my bill- but I still haven't seen it. I took Benadryl and had an epinen ready. Uber was like oh well. The chocolate croissant was good at least.
Hi, It's the nicest place in the area , with a great coffee , which is very good, but it's really hard to find a place to sit and the service is really slow , only one person is working the front , he has to handle the payment and make the drinks . If the service will be quicker definitely this place will be a great one
It was my co-workers birthday and I thought I would treat her to lunch. I often have my lunch at cafe Brooklyn. I ordered three sandwiches with instructions on what to put on the sandwiches . Like mustard or mayo or tomato or salt and pepper. Things you would tell them to put on a sandwich. I spend over forty dollars on the sandwiches plus I gave a tip. Some guy came over to me after giving me my order and said the chef was upset that my order was holding them back. Back from what I don’t know. He told me that I should go to the deli to order sandwiches and they didn’t have everything I asked for which when I was told at the beginning of ordering that they don’t I said okay just do what you can do. I am insulted that they felt bothered by my order. Not nice.
The coffee is so good, but why is the service ALWAYS awful! The guy at the register didn’t even say hi to me yesterday, he just stared at me until I said my order. Every time I go in it’s like they’re doing me a favor and giving me some coffee. For this reason I will start going somewhere else. I can’t deal with obnoxious hipster baristas
The rose latte tastes like death. It was the worst drink I ever had in my life! Tomato soup actually was pretty good. The lemonade tastes like limeade, and peach tea is unsweet, which is not the worst thing in the world but definitely had better drinks. The drinks generally were trash, but that ROSELATTE smells and tastes horrendous, worse than trash.
If you are a true coffee enjoyer this place may miss the mark, inconsistent coffee sometimes it's luke warm while other times boiling hot both undesirable, and priced very high for a cup. Just a simple spring powered tamp would improve the consistency
When Cup of Brooklyn first opened, I was a frequent visitor. The owner was always pleasant, and the space had a warm, inviting atmosphere that made it a joy to visit. However, as time went on and the owner wasn’t around as often, the customer service declined significantly. I encountered rude behavior from some staff members, including micro-aggressions from the woman with glasses and a male barista. Today, I decided to stop in and was delighted to see the owner behind the register. It’s clear that he values respect and care for his customers—something I wish his employees could consistently emulate. I hope the owner continues to set the standard for service and instills those same values in the rest of the team.
Honestly very weird vibes in here. Maybe it’s because I’m a native new yorker but I think this place gives major gentrifcation. We purchased a flavored iced latte, a flavored hot latte, banana bread, and a pesto grilled cheese for $32… The staff was also not very welcoming. I would say i emjoyed some of the unique flavors such as rosewater but overall would not return.
Over $5 for a bagel that tasted of damp cardboard. Egregious. Expect passive-aggressive patrons and baristas.
I’ve been in the neighborhood as long as this place (since 2016) and have watched them raise prices (faster than inflation) to the point where everything now feels very overpriced. I think it’s because the closest similar places (Sunrise/Sunset and Chez Alex aka gentrified coffee shops that you can take your white parents to) are far away enough that COB is like a local monopoly. Or maybe COB management just know that their clientele are price insensitive (aka rich kids). Anyway I just wish this place had lower prices. They could also tone down the gentrifier aesthetic/decor a bit but this is really not a big deal compared to a 12 oz drip coffee costing $4 here vs $1 at local bodega. That’s just a bit too much. This coffee is not 4x as good as the bodega coffee. PS I always get diarrhea after eating food from this place.
Expensive and gentrifying. $9 for a bacon egg and cheese when you can go to the deli and get for $4 is laughable. Also charging extra for a splash of oat milk in your cold brew is just greedy. No other coffee shops around do that.
We've been customers of Cup of Brooklyn for a time now trying not to pay attention to the fact that the person in the register treats you as if they were doing you a favor taking your order, all because their coffee is really nice. But today they served us a rock hard danish and when we told them that the pastry was stale, they didn't even want to check it out, told us it was from today, and turned around. It is a shame that a place that charges 4$ + taxes for a danish is in the best of cases not paying attention to the freshness of their product or in the worst of cases recycling them. Don't waste your time in a place like this, there are better welcoming options in the neighborhood like Chez Alex, for example.
The owner and the guy at the counter are SO friendly and helpful. I have always loved coming here because the food and drinks and great, the staff are wonderful. But today the girl making the drinks was so unwelcoming, honestly just rude. She filled my coffee to the brim so the top popped off and spilled everywhere. She didn’t say a word nor asked if I needed anything. I asked for a travel carrier for my drinks and she wouldnt even make eye contact and kept making the drink then a few minutes later handed me one without looking at me. She just had the worst attitude you would have thought I killed her cat or something. Made me not want to come back. Don’t work with people if you’re going to be nasty and make people uncomfortable
The staff was rude and carried a passive, condescending energy. Not at all what you’d expect given how overpriced and average the food was.
Been coming to this place for a few years and really loved it, for a time, but recently it feels like things have really gone down hill. The service has greatly declined and I found out they recently laid off my favorite barista. He always friendly and very efficient. It feels like the sense of community is gone and I no longer feel as comfortable or welcomed. The hustle of Cup of Brooklyn just isn’t there anymore.
I clearly and distinctly requested “oat” milk and the barista, a young woman with blond hair and glasses gave me almond milk that triggered my allergies, if I didn’t taste the difference and immediately stop drinking I would’ve gone into complete anaphylaxis, do not patron this establishment. They don’t take these issues seriously
Thought I’d give this spot a third chance, since my previous experiences weren’t great. You guys really need to learn how to speak to your customers with respect, especially when your customers are kind and respectful to you. Every time I’ve been here, everyone acts as though they’re doing you a favor. Today was no different, I walked up to the register, made eye contact with who appeared to be the barista, and he continued to engage in conversation with the cashier, whose back was turned to the register. No one acknowledged me, until I spoke up, and asked to order. The cashier walked over and said, “I’m sorry what”, as if she didn’t hear me the first time. The people working here need to be reminded that they are working in a service industry. Paying customers are not only looking for good eats, but also great service. You’re not doing anyone a favor, so get that out your skull.
Overpriced and super weird energy in here every time I come in here. I rather walk further to different spots. Girl with blonde hair and glasses makes you feel like you’re inconveniencing her day by just you walking in lol
