Do not skip on Hungry Thirsty. Went here for the first time (post Ugly Baby) today and the mushroom curry I ordered was absolutely delicious. Service was also excellent. It’s a nice casual place to take visitors too, I could see out of towners really liking the vibe.

This place was amazing! We loved the shrimp, squid, and salted egg yolk dish and the massaman beef curry

We only took pictures of the mango sticky rice (amazing) but all of the food was vibrant looking. Such interesting flavors. So much better than americanized Thai food. Can't recommend highly enough. Also very fast service !

Matheus Winter

The signature dish was amazing! And the morning glory too! Very enjoyable and friendly service

D

Cozy spot. Great service. These guys know what they are doing. We got the beef randang and the brutally spicy stir fried beef spare ribs. Everyone else got the branzino. Will try that fish next time. The beef randang was great but the spare ribs was too spicy 🥵. Did eat it all but will not get that guy again.

Hungry Thirsty exceeded all expectations. Still holding the bold flavors of its predecessor Ugly Baby, any dish here is sure to satisfy your taste buds. The staff is also superb, providing a warm greeting and excellent service. I cannot wait to return for another memorable meal.

The food is amazing as it’s always been! Only small wish would be some more unique beers and wines being on the list, but that would only be extra sprinkles on an already amazing cake 🥰

In a city with a million Thai restaurants this place puts them all to shame and leaves you wondering if you’ve ever really had Thai food before visiting Hungry Thirsty.

Best Thai food, very authentic. Came for the nostalgia but Happy Thirsty stands firm on its own. Everything was so tasty, even the fish sauce that accompanied the fried Branzino!

Delicious drinks! Don’t skip the frozen Thai ice tea - make sure to ask for the secret chrysanthemum drink, super refreshing. Try to get sat with Sherlyn !

A neighborhood staple; you can find some seriously delicious (and spicy!) food here. The staff are super friendly too!

Same spot as Ugly Baby, but definitely its own thing. Service was super friendly and quick. Food comes out fast, and it packs heat—order wisely. We stayed away from the 3-flame dishes but still broke a sweat. Favorites: • Crab rice salad – spicy but balanced • Panang curry with beef – rich and satisfying • Caramelized pork – my personal favorite, sweet and savory perfection • Branzino – tasty but watch out for bones • Salmon – no notes, just delicious Definitely going back. Solid 8s all around.

As a Thai, i can tell Their menu expands beyond the typical thai options and I love that. You can tell there was a lot of thought and detail put into their dishes, flavors, presentation and overall restaurant aesthetic which as a foodie is something I can truly appreciate.

The fried fish and curry taste so good! They also offer unlimited rice. Aimmie’s service is great as well. Recommend!

You know that scene near the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark where they open the ark and everyone who is looking has their faces melted off? My face looks like that now, because eating at Hungry Thirsty is like getting hit with a spicy-hot laser beam of love. The food is delicious, the staff are all super friendly, the music is pumping, and the colors are like pow! It's a full frontal happiness assault on your senses.

Great food! The shrimp and squid is always good, and the special chicken curry was amazing. Really unique Thai food and a fun atmosphere inside. Also really solid wine list and beer list.

This has been on the list for awhile and it did not disappoint! Service was fast and the staff was very helpful for giving recommendations. We got the branzino and Khoong Muk Kai Kem — the flavors were strong and it was delicious.

M

Great food, good portions but super spicy!

L

Good flavorful dishes :) One of them was too spicy for me, so I’d suggest you even out the spice level across dishes. The space is a little cramped and making a reservation is vital.

J

Very authentic Thai restaurant with delicious food and great service. I have a shrimp allergy, which made the menu here quite restrictive, but our server Angie gave me a copy of the menu marked with everything I could eat, very thoughtful! Even though I troubled her with this, she gave us a chrysanthemum drink on the house, which was very kind of her and also delicious! 5 star service and 5 star food ⭐️

J

Lovers of unique and spicy Thai food rejoice, as Hungry Thirsty opened in Ugly Baby's space in Carroll Garden, bringing a refreshed menu with all the qualities its predecessor was known for. The staff is just as friendly and busy, the open kitchen shows a never-ending ballet of heat, and small tables offer no intimacy. But we all keep going to this restaurant because no other place in the city offers this certain combination of flavors and heat in your mouth. And this one accepts reservations so you didn't need to show up and see if you got lucky. Ugly Baby is dead, long love Hungry Thirsty.

S
Supawat Thongthip

Best southern Thai food in Brooklyn, hands down. Hungry Thirsty’s food does not taste like Ugly Baby’s, it’s better - more balanced in flavor, punchy but not inedibly spicy, and more refined with better ingredients. We also enjoyed the vibe. It is like a fun hip restaurant in a friendly Bangkok neighborhood. We will definitely come back for more!

C
Carlos Torres

Outstanding service and delicious food it is our second time here and we were so lucky to be seated at the same spot at the bar. We will be back again!!

S
Stan Cherian

Came to see if it was as good as its former self (under a different name and chef) and it didn’t disappoint. We tried five dishes and all were excellent. You need to squeeze in as the seating is tight. Staff are attentive. Prices have gone up - but the food, flavor, ambience and service will make you forget it. Reservations recommended.

A
Arman Mohazzabfar

The branzino was also great, but this was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had.

D
Dani

The food was stunning and everyone was so nice! Our favorite dishes were the branzino (the sauce was perfectly acidic and savory) and the fried chicken (best fried chicken I’ve had… maybe ever).

T
Tomas Yafar

This place is simply amazing, the food is some of the best I've ever had and by far the best Thai food in the city. The dishes are tantalizing and unapologetically spicy and I wouldn't want it any other way. Having said that, coming here is a rare treat due to the sky high prices, that honestly feel unreasonable. The place is always packed so it seems no one else has an issue with dropping at least 30 bucks for a small, albeit amazing and memorable dish. Just based on the food, this place is 10/10, but the prices limit how often I can come back.

N
Nicolas De Rhodes

Absolutely incredible restaurant. Cool space, friendly staff, and very special Thai food with regional dishes you won’t find in most Thai restaurants. Could not recommend this place more!

P
Pria Koll

truly one of the best meals i’ve had. the beef panang curry was so tender i will have dreams about it tonight. the shrimp rocked my world. and the fried branzino held down the fort. staff and service are so kind and attentive. already considering coming back tomorrow

B
Ben Snyder

This spot is great, even though it's not quiet you can hear your date and the food is great. We got the Khoong Muk Kai Kem and the Panang and both were delicious! It was spicier than we expected given no fire emojis but the flavor was great. I'd probably recommend the Panang over the squid even though the squid sauce might've been better.

A
Angelina Phengphong

Flavorful and balanced dishes that showcase the best qualities of Thai food. The leng zaap was the highlight of our meal and everything was so tasty.

A
Andrew Dabydeen

What a great successor of Ugly Baby. We wanted to come here for a while after hearing about the new spot. We got the Kua Kling and the Panag which were both so delicious. The Kua Kling is their brutally spicy dish and it definitely lived up to the expectation - make sure you have some water nearby! Was delicious nonetheless if you can handle the spice. Would definitely come back in the near future to try out other tasty options.

Y
Yelena Conaway

The restaurant is in the same location as Ugly Baby, same decor and setup. The service was fast and we were able to get seated without reservation on early Friday evening. The food is as excellent as it was at Ugly Baby. Creative, unique dishes, full of flavor, and spice. There are some new dishes and it seems there is more balance with more dishes that are reasonably spicy rather than super spicy.

R
Ron

By far the best thai food that I tried in nyc! This place is south thai food, so don’t be surprised to not see your common thai dishes here. Its different from other restaurants around the city, which makes it unique! I got few dishes to try and I rate them as follows (all are super delicious): 1. Khoong Muk Kai Kem 2. Chicken wings 3. Khao soi 4. Panang Haven’t tried other dishes yet, but this is my humble rating.

N
Nan Sethjinda

If you are looking for traditional thai dishes that come in style, give "Hungry & Thirsty" at Brooklyn a try. The place offers a young & modern Thai vibes, offering the level of spiciness to test your taste buds. Many conventional dishes such as "Nam Ngiaw" from the North and "Fish Curry" from the south are flavorful. The omellette is cooked well, crispy & fluffy without being oily. The crab spicy rice is fresh & the sea food sauce is blended well. Bravo to the owner & team. I cheer on you! Not too many photo of the food. We enjoyed ourselves too much that we forgot to take photos!

R
Rovik Robert

We definitely over-ordered here but all the food was so good! Loved the fried branzino and the omelette especially. The curries had a good kick to them and were packed with ingredients. Very large beer collection to balance the spice. Space is cosy so don’t expect a lot of space. Staff are very friendly!

R
Ricky Pisciotta

10/10 unique and delicious. It’s not as spicy as the prior iteration of the restaurant… this is not a bad thing because Ugly Baby was some of the spiciest food I’ve ever had. I like this version more.

E
Emily P

Everything is delicious! The jumbo prawn, khao soi, branzino, and panang curry are favorites!

O
Oraphan Phumipheng

Every single dish bursts with authentic Thai flavors that are incredibly hard to find in New York. The ingredients are fresh, the spices are perfectly balanced, and each bite reminds me of the true taste of Thailand. On top of that, the staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely passionate. They offered thoughtful recommendations and made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. This is not your average Thai spot—it’s the real deal. Highly recommended for anyone craving genuine Thai cuisine!

L
Lukas D. Michaels

Hungry Thirsty is incredible! It feels like the natural successor to Ugly Baby, bringing that same bold, fiery spice we love. The food hits hard in the best way—definitely not for the faint of heart. The beer selection and menu aren’t as expansive yet, but I’m sure they’ll get there. Can’t wait to see how this place evolves!

J
Jose Alberto Policarpio

Food is authentic as it could be! Can’t wait to try their other dish in the menu. Good selection of dishes and very friendly staff! Will definitely come back :)

So goooood! Be prepared for real spice and rich, bold flavors. Bright and colorful ambience with both great food and drink menus. Like Thai tea? You’ll love the slushies in cute mugs. Friendly and attentive staff, had a great time at Hungry Thirsty!

We stopped into Hungry Thirsty on a freezing night, and boy did they warm us up! The people are so genuine and welcoming, and the food does not disappoint! It’s some of the most authentic Thai in the city, the chef specials are to die for, and the spice level is real. If you wanna go to Thailand, but not spend the money on the ticket, this is the place for you!!!

Super flavorful food and fun atmosphere. We sat at the bar and got to see them making all the dishes. Dishes run spicy, one flame of spice here might be considered 2-3 elsewhere.

Loved our dinner at Hungry Thirsty. Every dish was incredibly flavorful, loved the pad krapow and moo waan. They aren’t joking about the spice levels they denote, so if you’re sensitive Mae sure you pay attention. They have a really large beer menu, so you have plenty of fun options to choose from to break the heat. The service is fast and super friendly. They seem to change the menu often, looking forward to trying more of their wonderful dishes!

One of the best Thai Restaurants in NYC I have been waiting to visit Hungry Thirsty for a while and it did not disappoint. On this visit I enjoyed the Yum Kai Fu, Panang Curry, Pla Tod Nam Pla, Kang Ped Nuer, and the Cocunut Jelly Dessert. We were a party of two and did not have a reservation. Because of the cold weather and being right after new years we were able to be seated immediately. Definitely book ahead if you can, it gets busy. The favorite of the evening was the Pla Tod Nam Pla which is a whole fried branzino. It is not spicy and is served with a punchy acidic dressing that you add at your leisure. It is one of the best preparations of branzino I have ever experienced. Watch out for bones. There are none in the center but a few along the edges. The Panang beef curry was spectacular as well. It was spicy and sweet with melt in the mouth tender beef. The flavors were so comforting and warm with a richness coming from coconut. The spice was manageable and when eaten with rice it’s a dish any table would thoroughly enjoy. The rice is included! The Kang Pad Nuer is the spiciest dish on the menu and definitely one of the spiciest dishes you can order at a restaurant and still enjoy. The spice is a dry heat that builds as you eat. There is still a complexity of flavor that comes from the herbs used so it is not the kind of bland spice that you might have in a hot sauce. I love spicy food but could not finish this dish, the spice builds to the point you can feel it in your entire body. I sure as hell packed it up to take home though! I enjoyed the flavors but after trying it once I don’t think this is something I will be craving. That is a personal preference. The Yum Kai Fu is a mango salad with a granular chicken. The texture of the chicken threw me off a bit as I have never had such a preparation. It’s almost like breadcrumbs but made from chicken. The mangos are refreshing and the dish comes with a sauce that you apply and mix in. The more sauce you add the spicier it got. We ended up using half of the sauce. If you were to use the entire jug of sauce, it would be VERY spicy so taste it as you mix. Next time, I think I would try a different dish as this one was not super memorable like the others. The meal ended with the coconut jelly dessert, which is served in a real coconut and contains large pieces of coconut flesh in gelatin. It is a light dessert, but it’s perfect for settling your stomach after such spicy food. This is the only dessert they have available and I think it’s perfect. At $20, this is the only thing I thought was overpriced. The service at Hungary thirsty makes you feel like you’re in someone’s home. The servers are very attentive, especially when it comes to refilling your water. They know how spicy the food is and they want you to enjoy it. The ambience is very homey. The decor is simple but makes sense. The lighting is bright and cool toned which would usually bother me, but it’s somehow made perfect sense and I wouldn’t change it. The only note is try to get a table away from the door especially in winter. People coming in will crowd the tables standing around and the door opening made it extremely cold. Hungry, thirsty knows exactly what it is and is not trying to pretend to be a different type of establishment. I will absolutely be coming back.

Omg so goood!!!! We need more Thai restaurants like this!! All the dishes were amazing and unique. My favorites were the calamari stir fry and the fried fish. Caution: very spicy

The menu was unlike any other Thai place I’ve ate at before. The branzino dish was phenomenal with perfectly crunch garlic topping and a zesty sweet sauce. The prawns were massive and paired very well with the tamarind s sauce. Our server Sherlyn was very kind and helped us navigate our dietary restrictions and provided great recommendations. Loved this meal and will be back to try other things.

This is the most authentic Thai restaurant in NY. The dishes and flavors were so unique and the servers were so friendly and attentive. Food wise, they have a nice variety of spicy and non-spicy dishes. We tried their friend chicken and crab curry, and both were outstanding. Their Thai ice tea was also very yummy, you can tell that it was made with real tea leaves and not powder. Looking forward to visit again and try the other things on their menu!

My table had the kai tod hat-yai (fried chicken), puk bung moo krob (water spinach with crispy pork belly), khoong muk kai kem (shrimp and squid), kua kling (short ribs with curry), and kang som-cha-om (shrimp and omelette). Everything was delicious, would definitely recommend the food. The only downside of the restaurant is that it's really loud inside. Luckily we were able to move to an outdoor table. I also wish the menu had spicier options. The hottest dish is the kua kling which seemed to be around 200k scoville, a bit milder than habanero salsa. Not very spicy but still delicious.

Katie Ng

genuinely some of the best thai food we’ve had! my boyfriend and i stopped by for dinner and there was no wait on a sunday night. sherlyn was incredible and guided us through the menu. we ended up going with two of her recommendations—khoong muk kai kem (shrimp, squid, salted egg yolk) and pla tod nam pla (fried branzino)—and loved both!! overall a bit more pricey than an everyday dinner but so worth trying if you like thai :)

The establishment offers authentic Thai cuisine, characterized by its bold flavors and varying degrees of spiciness. While many dishes are prepared with significant heat, milder options are available to accommodate diverse palates. For those who appreciate spicy Thai food, this restaurant is highly recommended. The restaurant's staff is known for providing excellent service.

I’m from Philly, and I came all the way to Brooklyn just to try Hungry Thirsty and let me tell you, it was so worth it! The food blew me away with its authentic Thai flavors, but what really sets this place apart is the menu. They offer unique local Thai dishes that you just don’t see at most Thai restaurants. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, the cozy, welcoming vibe and super friendly staff made the experience even better. If you’re looking for something beyond the typical Thai spot, Hungry Thirsty is a true hidden gem. I’d make the trip again in a heartbeat!

Wow everything was packed with flavor, their signature pork leg dish was so tender and soft and the sauce that came with it…I could eat just that with rice. So yummy. We made a reservation so i would definitely recommend that to avoid waiting. The space is small but intimate and has an open kitchen which was cool to see the chef in action. Top things to order: the signature pork leg dish (it’s really big so only get it in a group of 3 or more!), the salted egg seafood/ shrimp and the shrimp omelette. Oh and the fried fish was really good.

overall a nice spot we felt the food was overhyped and not good as it’s used to be

I had such a great experience here! From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive without being overbearing. The atmosphere was cozy but still had a nice, upscale feel to it. The food was honestly the highlight everything came out fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really tell they put thought and care into each dish.

While I don't regret waiting outside for 2 hours in th freezing cold for a table the last weekend Ugly babyb was open, I would have reconsidered freezing my toes if I knew this was coming! True spiritual successor to Ugly Baby. Wide ranging flavors, brutal spice level dishes, incredible beer list. Not 5 stars because prices have gone a bit bonkers, but still worth coming back every couple months after shaking off the spice delirium from your last visit.

S

The 6 of us came here for dinner. Waited 20 mins for our reserved table. Loud music and service was friendly enough. They do not do anything changes to any of their dishes. If you tell them to leave out the chilis, they will not. The chef doesn’t do any changes on spiciness. The lump crab rice came with 2 big spoon fulls of chopped red and green chili peppers that we had to spoon them all out. We don’t want to be wasteful, they could have just not put in the chilis as we had some people that couldn’t eat that spicy. Fried fish 3/5, pork ribs 3/5, Chiang Mai noodles 3/5, crab rice 4/5, mango salad 3/5, shrimp w squid 4/5, and 2 sides of cabbage 5/5. We didn’t realize the 2 sides of cabbage was $20 each or we wouldn’t have ordered a second one. It was so small, but was cooked really well. We have been to Thailand several times. Some dishes lacked flavor while some was too salty. They need to work on balancing the flavors. I understand the dishes may have pre made sauces, but when the customer says to leave out the chilis. It’s a simple request and there will be no waste.

Love the flavor of food there, really unique! But anyone else also got a problem with the overpriced beers? especially the 16 dollar Other Half can when you can get the draft at 8 bucks literally a couple blocks away?

M

Pretty good Thai food, kind of overpriced though. The flavor profile feels more gentrified than Thai places deeper in Queens.

this place is indeed really really amazing. our food was amazing, and pretty spicy: we only got one item that was listed as the least spicy, and it wasn't too bad, but it was still pretty spicy. they can't change spice levels, and most items are spicy, so only go here if you can at least handle some spice! food tasted great, some of the best seafood I've ever had tbh. however, I will say: this place is very small, and you will most probably have to make a reservation or wait a bit for a table, and the prices are VERY HIGH. more than doubled what you'd normally pay for the dish. it's up to you to decide whether that's worth it for you, but me personally, I'd only go once just to try it.

We loved ugly baby so much so were excited to come here but were really disappointed. Everything we ordered was really sweet? Even the food labeled as extra spicy. Additionally there wasn’t a single beer on the menu for less than 14 dollars. Just confusing and disappointing

My god $64 is the cheapest bottle of wine… a screw off cap. The food was good I guess but worth the price? See for yourself. I don’t think so. Can get similar Thai food for a fraction of the price

I felt this was extremely overpriced compared to other Thai food in nyc. The flavors were unique and special, and maybe I ordered wrong, but the soup we ordered was much too salty. I was excited to try this place but it disappointed me.

Service was quick friendly, on a Friday evening, food however was not as good as ugly baby (The prior store) I was expecting great things from the reviews and the michellin guide and all but was let down. Everything we ordered was quite sweet overall. Not alot of savory or tartness that the food needs. They did give us a complimentary soup which was nice but still quite sweet.

I recently dined at Hungry Thirsty, and while the experience was okay overall, I felt that the flavors were a bit overpowering—some dishes were too salty, others too sweet. I’ve visited in the past and honestly preferred the older menu; the balance of flavors seemed better back then. Service was just alright—we had to ask for white rice more than four times before it finally arrived. I understand they may have been busy, so I appreciate the effort. Still, I hope to see some improvements going forward, both in flavor and service.

Came here and had the Kang Ped Nuer (beef short ribs) and there were literally 2 pieces of meat in my entire bowl… the rest was just bones. For $42, I expected a hefty portion, not just bones and curry paste. Left extremely hungry and disappointed.

Hungry Thirsty was really quite disappointing. I went with my friend and we got the fried branzino and shrimp curry dish (recommended by the waitress). For both dishes and a beer, our meal was over $100. The fish was much too salty, albeit still better than the shrimp curry. The shrimp curry was 5 shrimp in a tomato-based sauce which lacked flavor and variety. It would have helped to put some vegetables in the curry or something, but it was just shrimp and squares of an omelette. Also the omelette itself was cold. The curry sauce tasted like a spicier marinara sauce. Overall not worth the prices they are charging - your average neighborhood Thai restaurant will be better.

We have been here a few times but the most recent time was subpar. They were busy and seemed understaffed, so we were waiting for a water top-up for quite a while and had to walk up to the kitchen to get more. For the food, portions were a lot smaller than I remembered -- the $20 cabbage side was ridiculously small. The pad krapow was about 50% mushrooms 50% pork -- it's supposed to be a pork dish. We also ordered the shrimp and squid; the amount of food on the plate was about half the size of what we expected.

Restaurant was totally crazy. We had a reservation and were almost not given a table. The people were very nice however I did not receive my dinner at the same time as my friend, and when I checked to see if my food was coming they gave me a completely different dish than what I ordered.
