Opinions de Kyoto Sushi Brooklyn
This is the best sushi spot out of the 4 sushi spots in the same area of Greenpoint. The freshness of fish, quality of prep and attention to flavor is why I say this one is the best out of the others. Sometimes for dinner its a little busy, so please plan ahead! And remember... leave your selfies and v-logging for another place like Bedford avenue....
The food is awesome :D So fresh and tasty. You can feel like thousand flavours in one meal. I've been there for the first time, and I will definitely visit again.
Great custom sushi - friendly staff - always delicious. A true pleasure Everytime I go eat here.
Never disappoints always a pleasure to eat there. They're sushis always on point I definitely recommend to try the shrimp tempura. that's the first thing I get every time I go in there
The food was pretty good and they were kind of enough to throw a little freebie in my bag, will def go back lunch special is a great deal btw
Such good authentic food!!!! I love Shelley she’s so pretty, best waitress I’ve had ever in my life.
Fresh and delicious sushi. My favorite is crunchy spicy salmon and sweet potato roll. Miso soup is tasty as well and if I was to recommend sth for colder days I would go with chicken udon noodle soup 😊 Very good price and fast service :)
Best Asian Restaurant in Greenpoint. We order from here all the time. Always clean fresh
They are the best. Though my card was declined at first but they solved it professionally. I never thought that much food on bento box at $20.14🥰. I will come again . If love sushi, you should try it.
Some of the best sushi I have had and the bento boxes are a great option as well. I am into sashimi and nigiri, so the freshness they offer here is a must. They offer large pieces of high quality fish for a fair price.
I've done take out twice here for sushi. The quality is great especially for their lunch special prices. 12 bucks for 3 great tasting rolls or 8 bucks for 2. I'm sure their normal food is good too but i recommend the sushi.
Despite its humble appearance, the quality of the sushi here was amazing and the prices were reasonable. Tons of choice! Dozens and dozens of specials, to say nothing of the rest of the menu. The rolls I had were an absolute delight.
I love this place. It’s a standard no frills sushi spot that’s consistently fresh and immaculately clean.
Small place, simple but nice decor, we have been going for many years. Food is always good/great, service as well, never any issues. Prices reasonable, considering the area, where everything else has gone up to Haute/ Bourgeoisie levels. There's a reason they've been open for many years. Recommended, we will be back as well.
Great sushi and service. Menu has options for non-sushi eating significant others/family/friends! Also very good prices especially for NYC.
Favorite sushi place in NYC. Big rolls, reasonable prices and tons of options. Usually on time or early with delivery too. My go to sushi spot! Spicy Crunchy Yellowtail and Angel Maki are great.
Probably the best sushi on DoorDash/UberEats in the area. Dine in was also fine although I’ve only been there pre-pandemic. Seconding another reviewer, the spicy crunchy tuna roll is a must try!
Kyoto has very friendly staff and even better food. The menu is extensive with an option for almost everyone, and the food is extremely delicious. Overall, I highly recommend eating here or ordering takeout.
Can’t speak to atmosphere. However, the food we got delivered was really good!! We picked this place bc of the rating and the reasonable prices. We don’t get sushi a lot bc it is so expensive, but this place gives good product with decent prices!!!!
Sushi was amazing! Spicy tuna was delicious! Every thing was made to perfection and delicious! Would recommend the spicy tuna sushi. Staff is amazing and so kind and caring. Nothing but a good and happy vibes from them! Didn't get sushi picture but chicken appetizer was amazing as well!
Solid sushi spot at a great price. Ordered the Maki Combo, a specialty roll, and the gyoza appetizer. Food came out fast and fresh. Service was good and polite. Will be eating here again!
Food is great. The lunch specials are affordable and filling. Simply amazing. I just been eating lunch here almost everyday. This is the teriyaki tuna lunch special. I love the salmon as well. How can you go wrong with salad, rice, sushi, protein(fish), nicely cut ginger, wasabi and complimentary miso soup.
Delicious and affordable option for tons of sushi varieties. Small shop but friendly and quick service!
Decent prices. Free green tea. Dragon roll and Boston roll tasted great. Prepared very quickly

This was a very solid choice for japanese in the area. The curry chicken donburi was delish, and i like it was a thin piece of white meat chciekn breast. As with most places though i wish i woulda requested an additional side of curry sauce for the rice. Veggie tempura was grwat and fresh the batter was really good. Gyoza was also very good wish i woulda got 2 orders. Spicy mayo just as expected. Definitley going on my normal takeout rotation. Also everything arrived hot.
Cannot find a sushi place anywhere better than this in Brooklyn or personally I haven't had better sushi than this ever. The sushi pieces are huge and delicious. The variety of sushi is also great. another one of my favorites is shrimp fried rice. It has the perfect combination to make your mouth water when thinking about it. Cannot go wrong with anything you order.

My son and I eat there quite a bit . Good value and suishi is excellent . Always start with the avocado salads . Service is spot on and friendly . Also, I think reviews in general should be by in house not take out Scott
mmm rating this best sushi in nyc is definitely overboard and not true. it's pretty good, and my boyfriend likes it, too, but i've had better (in brooklyn even!). they are really nice here, though, and they've let us throw a couple of fun parties!
Had lunch recently. Black dragon roll is delicious! Green tea was great too. Came out quick, tasted fresh. Would recommend
As a big fan of fried rolls, I am always looking for a place to have good ones. This place servers only one fried roll which is not bad at all, but to my taste it could be much better is they add the sweet sot glace on top of it. The good thing is the price. The price is fair and the size of roll is bigger than in other places around. The vegetable tempura was good too.
A good place to grab Japanese food in a normal price. The sushi for 2 plate was big for me and my friend! But I believe is just right for 2 who eat normally.

Decent neighborhood spot but quality could be higher. I’ve ordered takeout multiple times, but one time when ordering the standard sushi and sashimi combo, one of the cuts of sashimi was very fishy tasting and could not be eaten. Another time, the tuna was served too cold, like it just came out of the freezer.

they handle their own delivery service which translate to terrible service and constant massive delay. Not a big deal for sushi but for warm dishes forget it...
We ordered take out — the sushi was okay, but a bit fishy and the edamame was hard. We ate it, but probably wouldn’t order from here again.
Sushi seems to be hit or miss here. The Tuna Avacado Rolls and Salmon Rolls were actually pretty decent, however the hand rolls were definitely on the small side. My unagi hand roll did not taste fresh and I did not finish it. It's also on the pricier side at least when considering the quality, and UberEats delivery took over 2 hours to arrive despite the being only 1 mile away from me. Overall I prefer Ikura Sushi over this spot as it's cheaper, fresher, and has larger portions especially when it comes to hand rolls.
I generally am not a real picky eater. But the sushi wasn't that good. Miso soup good. Edamame good. Those little shrimp dumplings good. Delivery was very fast and food portions were large but again the sushi was lacking. I am very rarely disappointed in a meal but even a broken clock is right twice a day too.
Decent sushi and fair priced. I will give this a 3 for sushi because it is good and basic standard, but not the top and I LOVE my sushi. I often order delivery and the delivery is very quick. So this was my go-to spot for quite some time. I made the choice to stop in for takeaway recently and it kind of altered my feelings on this place. There is no real ambiance and the walls are dreary but mostly the customer service is heavily, heavily lacking. No feeling of welcoming, almost dismissive although I spent $100 on takeaway that evening. Myself and my boyfriend tried to engage in several ways and it was simply unwelcoming service. So I can say that put me off enough to explore other places.

The sushi is good but they do not appear to know how to make hot dishes. In the past the hot food was good. The yaki soba was not cooked correctly. It was more of a soup and arrived warm. It should of been caramelized and actually hot. The gyoza was also just warm and was steamed instead of the pan fry we asked for. I will continue getting sushi here but I will only give it one more chance on the hot food.
I wanted to like this place, the sushi/roll was fine and the tempura was okay as well (nothing special but alright for the price) but I ordered an oyakodon and got something that was totally not that. Oyakodon is one of my favorite rice bowl orders at a Japanese restaurant so I know it is usually a breaded cutlet or katsu sitting on a saucy scrambled egg with onion & scallion. They served me a pan-seared boneless chicken thigh with a side of cabbage, carrot and radish and a fried egg on top — no sauce either. I was so confused when I got it that I couldn’t even complain. I thought to myself, maybe this is a different type of oyakodon? But as I was eating I also Googled what an oyakodon is just to confirm and there is NOTHING that looks like what I was served. It honestly did not even taste close to any other oyakodon I’d ever eaten. Truly confused, it felt like they didn’t even know their own menu item and maybe hastily searched what an oyakodon was. It would hVe been alright with me if the meal was flavorful but it just didn’t taste like much else than barely seasoned grilled chicken and veggies. I personally hate food waste so I took 2 bites and packed the rest because from the first strange bite I decided I would just turn it into a fried rice at home. On top of that, the service was pretty lackluster. I’m not asking for much but no one ever refilled our waters despite eating there for at least 30-40 mins (this is a big service industry no-no) and it was difficult to get anyone’s attention at all for even asking for the check. I have experience in both a professional kitchen setting and the food service industry and was honestly disappointed.
We ordered an octopus appetizer and it was frozen?? BUT they did give us free hot sake (as per their promotion). They seemed very upset though.

We had a very average bento box here. This is not an authentic Japanese restaurant. It is a Chinese restaurant attempting to do Japanese food but they don't do it well. The service was poor and the atmosphere was lacking. Not a good experience- a waste of money. Definitely would not recommend this place.

Fish did not taste fresh. I paid for toro sashimi and got one piece of tuna. I also asked for salmon roe sushi and instead I got a tower of tobiko which do not taste good. Would not recommend
Walked in an empty restaurant and ordered the bento box, chicken katsu. Waiter did not ask if I wanted anything to drink and had to ask for water after salad and soup had been served and eaten. Waited 20 minutes before the bento box arrived and was very impressed with the portion. However, as I started to eat the chicken, it was lukewarm at best, so I took one of the shumai dumplings and it was less than lukewarm, so I tasted a piece of the tempura and it was also lukewarm. The only hot food on the plate was the rice. I complained to the waitor and he asked if I wanted something else. After waiting so long for the food I said no and he had the nerve to say "I'll just charge you for the soup and salad." I said I'm not paying for anything and walked out. Worst Japanese place I've ever been to and I go to a Japanese restaurant at least twice a month. Don't get all the great reviews about this place. Must have been an off night because I would have given it 1/2 a star just because they do serve large portions. But large portions of crap is still crap.
Got food poisoning. Don’t eat here!!
Sushi was pretty terrible. Service was even worse. Ordered sake, never got it. Sashimi came out after we had eaten and we're ready to leave. Never got asked if we needed anything so wasn't able to ask for anything we wanted to make the bad sushi more palatable. Don't bother.
Ordered via Uber Eats....delivery 30 mins behind....sushi fish is warm and stale. California roll rice has no flavor. Tempura fried with old oil and overcooked...ginger tasted like wash cloth.
Although I've never eaten here, today I was walk by with my dog and friend. My dog happened to stop and poop outside by the curve. As I was looking for a poop bag in my purse this lady (that works there) comes out yelling at me to clean after my dog. I was so stunned to be spoken to that way. Any one that works for a business shouldn't be speaking to others that way. I just move into the area and will not be trying this place!
Hit or miss. The sushi comes smelling old and kind of fishy plus they have an agressive deliveryman
Kyoto has been getting worse and worse thru the years (been living in greenpoint 19 years and used to go here all the time) and we got some particularly bad rolls the other night. When I called to speak to them about it I got a very aggressive rude woman on the phone who argued with me that my husband didn’t say no sauce and shrimp tempura rolls are supposed to come with mayo on them (gross). Sadly we are done with them after a few mediocre experiences. They used to be so good and have wonderful customer service. Not sure what happened but do not recommend at all. There are so many much better options in the hood now.
We ordered delivery few times. I called to order salmon teriyaki lunch and any two rolls lunch special last Saturday. I asked the casher if I can switch the salad and cali roll to dumplings, she said Yes. However, I got shrimp teriyaki with veggie roll and two pieces of steamed broccoli. I called back and the cashier told me that I agreed when she repeated my order over the phone. I don’t think she repeated my order. Then another guy told me “they cannot switch the cali roll and salad to dumplings but they can redeliver salmon and take back the shrimp, however, their JUMBO shrimp costs $2 per piece, they don’t make money for this meal, do you understand? do you understand?”!!! I was like……does it have anything to do with me? Close your business if you don’t make money. It was very disappointed, and I do not wanna their food anymore!!!!!!
