Always satisfying. Like to try different dishes because they're always delicious. Family owned and comfy. Old neighborhood touch! Mangia!
Great food, always fresh and homemade taste. Very authentic and intimate for that homestyle italian dining experience.
Great Italian food and service. Food tastes like home made. I definitely will be back with my family.
Hands down, for me the all around best Italian food when talking about quality, atmosphere, prices, and DELICIOUS FOOD!
First time at La Locanda a pleasant experience.Delicious food generous portions and good service. Will go back again.
Great authentic Italian , cozy inside , friendly staff!
My favorite place that we have been going to for over 25 years ... wonderful family and awesome food and service!
This is one of the best restaurants in Brooklyn, the food is always excellent and the owners are super friendly and welcoming. Great overall restaurant.
10 out of 10 Old world.. Amazing service Food unbelievably great Feels like home. Meet vist again and again Best fried calimari I have ever had.... You will be sorry if you don't stop by
Delicious, flavorful food. Not expensive. Nice atmosphere in a nice neighborhood. Friendly service.
Superb Italian food, lovely atmosphere at a reasonable price. Plus it's in my old neighborhood where I grew up.
Relaxing spot for excellent Italian food at good prices. The wine list is good too.

Stopped in for luch. Reasonable prices, good food. Wished I lived in the neighborhood.
Great food and service. A great family restaurant. Go here and you will not be disappointed.
Amazing food and folk. Love this place...huge recomendation is....fresh fusili with Vodka sauce.
The food is excellent, the service is superb. Nice place to take the family for dinner.
Delicious food, great service and the new front adds more space. Maria and Cono are the best!
First time at this restaurant. The food was delicious, the ambiance was wonderful and the service was excellent.
Atmosphere is anazing. Food is absolutely delicious! Highly recommend it.
Great food and service. They are taking good covid19 precautions. Feel very comfortable here.
The service is great and the food is amazing also there yogurt pie is to die for I highly recommend this place.
The Hostess and waiter were very nice and attentive. Nice calm intimate atmosphere with chill music. And the foood! Oh my God chefs kiss. Excelente, bravo, belisima. Everything tatsed fantastic, authentic and fresh. Will definitely return.
My husband and I are new in town and were looking for a special place to celebrate our anniversary. We came across with "La Locanda", gave it a try and I just have to say it was the BEST decission. The evening was AMAZING, we loved everything. Nice, cozy place, with EXCELLENT food and service. This will definitely be our new favorite restaurant... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
La Locanda is one of those awesome neighbourhood Italian restaurant serving homely Italian food. I’ve had the lentil soup that’s so rich with flavours even though it’s just lentils. I also had the special spaghetti with swordfish and olives. Swordfish is fresh and tasty coupled with the rich tomato sauce over al Dente spaghetti.
What a pleasure to have this amazing Italian restaurant in my neighborhood! The owners and staff are so friendly - Cono, Maria, Carmine, Mateo, Pedro… so warm and kind! The food is A+ - I’ve never had a bad meal there! The chickpea cavatelli soup, pappardelle special, and Bo hero are some favorites! Check out this awesome locally owned business!!!
Attended a surprise birthday party in the back room and it was great! The room was very private and comfortable (probably around 60 people). Everything ran very smoothly with the excellent pacing of the courses. The entire staff was very polite and accommodating.. Started with cold antipasto platter for each table consisting of sliced meats, roasted red and hot green peppers, portobello mushrooms and mozzarella and tomato. Excellent bread as well. Two pasta dishes were very good, followed by entrees (choice of chicken parmesan, baked filet of sole, or veal marsala). Everyone was very pleased with whichever dish they had. At the end, they provided a delicious assortment of Italian cookies. Very nice choice for a special party.
Fabulous! Truly delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. Maria and Cono were fabulous and gave us a great feeling of friendship. The plates were fresh and done perfect. A definite go to for any size group.
This is a small restaurant, but has really great food and interesting menu selections. The waitstaff are friendly and helpful. The food is fresh and delicious. This is a definite strong recommendation.
left brooklyn 50 years ago. came back for Aunts funeral we had dinner here.... wow what food and service. owners treated us like family and the co owner ( wife) was amazing. Served 25 of us alone. She was like 4 people never saw one person do so much so quick and perfectly. Sorry I live so far away or that would be me and my wife's regular Friday night dinner spot. One of the best Italian resetrants I've ever been to
Nothing better than seeing the owner and being able to see a clean kitchen. Delicious food, cozy place. Can’t ask for much more. PS get the Penne with Vodka sauce. Wish I took a picture, Ate it too fast
Incredible homemade pasta with super tasty tiramisu. The espresso is perfectly pulled and the seafood is expertly cooked. Do not miss this spot!
Fabulous restaurant. Delicious pasta and sauces, reasonably priced. The owners are warm and inviting make you feel like family. Love this place.
I can't believe this place is still here! Good food, lots of old school BBerg people hanging around. The server said my dish came with "shrimps" LOL
We had such a pleasant lunch at La Locanda. Everything from food to service makes you feel “a casa”. Now one of my favorite Italian place in the city.
I was a guest for a private event in the back room. The staff were very friendly. Plus the food was very good!
Amazing food. Amazing ambiance. Owner's and staff seems like family and are inviting you to be part of it. Did I say...amazing food? AMAZING.
Always makes me feel like I'm eating in someone's dining room, maybe because I am! Penne vodka is amazing. I think I like everything I've ever tried.
My personal favorite restaurant...been going here for over 25 years.....a must try in Brooklyn....family owned restaurant and it seems like everybody knows each other here!
Great homemade Italian; appreciate the gluten free options. Veal was great, grilled octopus a highlight
A great neighborhood spot. Low key yet warm and elegant atmosphere. Good, friendly service and great food.
Incredible Italian food as good as my great grandmother made. Warm cozy atmosphere like eating in your own home. Jose makes a killer martini and the chef in the kitchen makes an Italian gravy that makes you want to drink it. Fried Calamari fantastic but you have to try the stuffed mushrooms. Eggplant is the best I ever had. The Tira Misu and the cheese cake are made special by the owner and I get there before 7 cause EVERYONE wants those.
Such a cute spot! I’ve lived down the block for 2 years and only just came in for the first time. Waitress was funny and entertaining and the food was amazing. Will be back!
Absolutely brilliant night here. My boyfriend’s order was delayed as part of a party of eight, but they more than made up for it with genuine apologies and a free bottle of wine. The food was delicious (definitely get the baked clams) and the staff was helpful and friendly. The owner stopped by our table several times and was an absolute delight. We originally came here because another restaurant screwed us of a table despite having a reservation, but it turned out to be a stroke of luck. We had an amazing night with fantastic food and great people. I cannot wait to come here again!
La Locanda is like having Dinner with your friends & family. The owners are impeccable and the food is a best of „Mama“s Kitchen“ - made in Italy by the Chef himself. If you look for a restaurant with traditional values where they really care about their guests, this is your place to be!
The place is unpretentious. The service is excellent. They do not rush you out. The food take a little time to come out and it's because everything on your plate is fresh. I had the linguini and clams. The clams were small but they stack them on the dish was absolutely amazing. The portion was very generous. The sauce was light and delicious. I didn't leave a pasta let alone a clam on my plate. One of the best I have had. I highly recommend this place. I came all the way from Long Island and it was definitely worth my trip.
Go now! Love this quaint, family owned, family run restaurant. I can't say enough great things. The food choices are perfect. The food itself, delicious, portion size just right for left overs. So, once the baby stops kicking, and your mouths watering for more, your taste buds will be pleasently surprised as the spices marinating your leftovers to perfection. The wine list is priceless! The desserts decadent. Mary is a gem. Felt like we were welcomed into their home on an Italian vineyard, sitting down at a family dinner.
A family owned, authentic Italian restaurant. We popped in here after seeing good prices on the menu on the window. Little did we know we were walking into our new favorite restaurant. The atmosphere was quaint, yet we felt we were in a different place then the bustling city streets. Out came the homemade whole wheat bread that was fresh and warm. The service was so nice, as my fiance and I get into deep conversations over dinner, they service didn't linger yet our cups never hit bottom, and they took great care of us. Then, the FOOD. My fiance got the lasagna ( a true test of Italian we like to say ) and I did the Penne Alla Vodka. Homemade sauces that electrify your taste buds. Perfect. No other word. So, I HIGHLY recommend this spot. You will not be disappointed!
Well prepared traditional Italian dishes in a nice restaurant with wonderful staff. It was my first time there recently with a couple of old friends I worked with. A great place to eat. Ill most definitely be back
Great authentic Italian dinner in New York! We recently went to this place for a dinner during our holiday in New York. We are from the Netherlands. Maria and Cono have welcomed us very friendly at their very cosy restaurant. They have prepared delicious Italian dishes. We tried penne alla vodka, some seafood dishes, and a pizza! Everything was really delicious. Really advised!
Adorable, cozy neighborhood spot with homestyle Italian American standards and an expansive wine list. Friendly, welcoming staff and very reasonable prices (two entrees, a side dish, a cocktail and two glasses of wine for under $45 per person). Thoughtful execution elevates the simplest offerings, like escarole with white beans: garlic and oregano sang balanced quietly & perfectly in the background. My partner's and my entrees (chicken scarpielo and chicken francase) were beautifully executed, nothing extraneous (except maybe salt), nothing fancy. A wonderful option when the comfort and welcome of homestyle food would be welcome. Note: we were a little surprised that they only accept cash tips.
The perfect dining experience!!! Delicious food, impeccable service, beautiful decor and Cono & Maria are the perfect hosts. Highly Recommend
I have been coming for years and food is always good. My daughter loves the baked ziti. But my favorite is the owners" homemade cheesecake which is out of this world! It is as fluffy and light as a cloud looks and not too sweet. She never makes enough and only has it on Fridays and maybe Saturdays. Make more!!
My favorite neighborhood spot! Everyone that works here make you feel like family. Has that old school feeling but in the best way possible, no frills just good food. Order the teggiano salad, you can never go wrong with the specials, always substitute for fresh pasta, and you must have a piece of the warm crusty bread. And it’s all reasonably priced with large portions.
Great classic Italian restaurant that's family-owned. The food is truly old world Italian and awesome! Though pricier than some of the other Italian restaurants in the area, it's worth it for a classy evening out with your loved ones. My wife and I eat there and always leave fulfilled.
Had the most delicious meal last night. The veal scallopini was outstanding. Generous portion, flavorful and homemade cavatelli is a must. Wonderful sauce. Can't say enough about what our food and experience was.
This is one of Williamsburgs staples, and has been on our rotation, for many years. Food is delicious, service is on point, and it's cozy and comfortable. Highly recommended. Their seafood is fresh and delicious.
Apparently google only lets you leave one review per customer but I have several experiences at this fabulous Italian restaurant in East Williamsburg! First thing that must be said, their food quality is always on point every time you dine with them, and you can never go wrong with their specials. Some of my favorites include but not limited to "Pasta al Forno" and their lasagna. Baked clams are among my favorite appetizers. If you're in the neighborhood for lunch, try the "Bo Hero" for unique Italian flavors that are sure to leave you wanting more! Secondly, this is a family owned small business that prides itself on it's friendly vibe with outstanding hospitality. La Locanda was named with community in mind, so much so that "Locanda" translates to inn or guesthouse but the meaning behind the name with that in mind, is "the gathering". Which brings me to my third point to why I'm recommending this business. They hosted our 40 person wedding reception dinner in their back party area. The room was filled in classic oak furniture and wrought iron fixtures that were then sun-drenched by the beautiful skylight located in the center of the room. The owners were extremely accommodating, ensuring that our every need for the evening was met. We had a volunteer help with flower arrangements but didn't have a set seating chart and the owner was gracious enough to offer assistance with our guests as they arrived before we made our arrival. They were always in communication with me before our event to ease any concerns we had along the way. Our guests still do not stop giving us rave reviews when they remember our special day! La Locanda equals exquisite food (which they take such pride in), wine, atmosphere, hospitality and friend to the LGBTQ+ community!
We made reservations for dinner, and we were pleasantly surprised with an opportunity to experience a wine tasting with Omar. Our experience was extremely informative and pleasant. Omar was so knowledgeable, and we were so fortunate to have this opportunity. It is one of our favorite experiences at this resort!
We had such a wonderful experience here. We walked in and immediately Appreciated the family vibe of the spot - only to meet the owners and actual family who were lovely. They took our food sensitivities very much to heart and prepared some Of our favorite Italian food we have had in a long time. Maria, the owner, was amazing. And Raquel was awesome. We had the tuna (which was our favorite), gluten free pasta (sooo good), and the branzino and loved every bite. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely amazing! From the homemade gnocchi to the wood-fired pizza, every bite was delicious. The service was impeccable, and the wine selection paired beautifully with our meal. A must-visit for Italian food lovers!
If you’re looking for an authentic Italian dining experience in Brooklyn, look no further than Cono’s restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were treated with the utmost kindness and hospitality, making us feel right at home. Unlike many places that claim to be Italian but fall short, Cono delivers true Italian flavors. Every dish we tried was perfectly crafted, rich in taste, and reminiscent of a meal you’d enjoy in Italy. The passion and attention to detail in the food are unmatched, and the service is impeccable. This is a place that truly understands and respects Italian cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the real thing!
Wow. Went here last night with family and had a great time. Food was delicious and even the kids all ate! Very friendly atmosphere and extensive wine list, very reasonably priced! The chef came out a few minutes and greeted the tables as well. We are definitely returning to this old school family style gem.
All Access Transportation held our employee holiday gathering at La Locanda. One employee recommended this authentic, Italian spot in Brooklyn. It was phenomenal from the food to the service. It was warm and cozy. Our party was only 10 but we ordered many dishes from the menu. Stand-outs are the fried calamari and grilled octopus for appetizers. I ate the White Fish Rollitini. It was outstanding. The bread basket was rustic and what you could expect to get in Europe. The portions are perfect and also what you could enjoy in Europe. There is a full bar and there was a pretty decent wine section. It wasn't too extensive but I opted for Montepulciano. It was excellent. Desert stand-outs were the amazing, homemade yogurt pie and tiramisu. We loved our waiter and were treated royally. We will be back.
Been eating here for 20+ years. Food is always fresh and cooked to perfection. Prices for dishes are way below the normal for such quality of food and service. The food is light and tasty, the way it's supposed to be; not overly cooked with butter and salt. Family owned and operated so you always get the best. Bringing friends and family here for years and everyone loves this place.
Small, cozy...I thought it strange that serve the pasta and then take it away before serving the protein. I'd like everything left on the table but maybe that's just me. Pasta, then salad, then protein. Everything I had was 😋. Lemon chicken, penne, and salad.
Family run, the food is great service is great I love this place last of the great restaurants in the Williamsburg Brooklyn area up there with belmonte and frost
Traditional family-owned Italian restaurant. They make their on pasta on the premises and the salsa is out of this world.
A hidden gem off of the Graham Ave stop with a cozy atmosphere and no music. I think they already know Italians will talk over any music anyway. I think this is some of the best Italian food regardless of cost (although it is at a very reasonable price). The portions are generous and the staff will make great suggestions for your taste. I had the spinach ravioli with vodka sauce and it was absolutely delicious. It wasn't too heavy on the cream and the ravioli was cooked to perfection with a tiny bit al dente chewy to it. It all mingled very nicely in my mouth and left me completely satisfied. The only thing was that the wine was a little crappy. I'd suggest cracking open a bottle instead of getting the individual $5 glasses. Call me old fashion, but you gotta have a good wine pairing with Italian food. I will definitely be back here to try some more things on the menu. A repeated dining experience and food quality will bump this to a five-star rating. I would highly suggest dropping by if you're in the area.
Quaint old school style restaurant with a nice back room for either a family or other type of gathering which is what I was attending. Had never been here before and was very pleasantly surprised. Clean with attentive service but not intrusive; the food was very good with ample portions very reasonably priced. Parking in the area is a bit tight but the place is worth the effort.
Good pasta and friendly staff. Great selection of wines. The gelato truffle dessert wasn't good, but they have a very long list of desserts that I would be willing to try. I'd go back there again.
Prices were great for the large portions and friendly service. I had my dinner here and it was exactly that I ordered and it was delicious and well served!
Service was good. Very accommodating I wanted bucatini Ala mattriciana and they made it special. Old world Italian at a great price range. Family type restaurant.
It's ok ..quality is not the best ..I've had way better Italian food at a pizzeria.
Has gone down hill I hope they get the same chef back or something. This was a favorite, still a nice ambiance, but food was diner ish and very unremarkable. Dined on a Tuesday.
The food was pretty good and the restaurant manager was very friendly. Prices were very reasonable and I enjoyed my dish. I thought the server was bit rude though and pushy and didn’t clearly explain the policy for splitting checks.
This spot is fine for a casual night out for Italian. We ordered the veal parm and bolognese, both were good but nothing special. When we called ahead to see if we could make a reservation, we were told no. However, upon arriving we were immediately seated and noticed more than 1/2 the tables were open. Overall, it was a fine dinner but likely won’t return.
Great food. Friendly staff. Quaint cozy space. It's small but cozy. - that first sentence is what I wrote a year ago. But my visit just recently was not great. My husband was disappointed in his eggplant rollatini appetizer two little tiny rollatinis came out and for the price they charged that played should have been a lot bigger. My arugula Walnut goat cheese salad came out with not one stitch of goat cheese anywhere to be found on my salad which was $10 from the appetizer and the most expensive ingredient was nowhere to be found. For dinner I ordered the Involtini di Pollo the first piece I tried to cut was hard as rubber. It tasted like very distinct freezer burn after taste every single bite! Lord knows how long it was sitting in a refrigerator getting more stale and they took it out and put it in the oven and put it on my plate like it was freshly made. And lastly they gave us the dessert menu and the menu had Napoleon, when we tried to order it the waiter said, "we don't have that anymore." And I said well it's on the menu and he said, *we haven't had that dessert in a really long time here.", so I said then why didn't you take it off the menu already? Seriously, take a black Sharpie and just cross it out. I've seen restaurants do it, if you don't want to invest in reprinting a new menu. Ironically when you look at the menu online it's a tad bit different, for instance my salad shows that it's $9 and it only has arugula and walnuts, but in the actual restaurant menu showed arugula walnuts and goat cheese and it was for $10 pretty expensive for a salad especially when not one stitch of goat cheese was anywhere in my salad. So I have to say I'm very disappointed as well as my husband because he didn't enjoy his chicken cutlet Parmesan dinner either. It still has that cozy feel and the waiter was very accommodating it's just their food and their menu was a very big disappointment.
The staff was great, the appetizers were good, the entrees were very bland had no taste. We had chicken parmesan & filet of sole oregganato, small portion no flavor at all.
Had a catering event here not long ago, mediocre at best, food was fair, service not existent. We were expecting more based on previous reviews. Not recommended, however the espresso coffee was good
We went to have dinner on a Saturday. The waiter was very friendly and had a positive attitude. The food is not what I expected, but it is edible. The only problem is the attitude of the two young waitresses who work there. Apparently they wanted to leave at about 9:30 pm. My friend was enjoying her dinner and the waitress without asking they removed her plate and wanted to do the same to me, while I was still eating with a very aggressive attitude, the two young waitresses practically kicked us out of there, we weren’t finishing our glass of wine having a conversation and one of the waitresses came to take our wine away saying that they are closing,I would not recommend this place and for obvious reasons I would never go back there. It is sad that the owners of the restaurant do their best to keep the restaurant in service and the negative attitude of the waitresses scares the customers. Now I understand why the restaurant is empty on a Saturday. It wasn’t busy it was two tables only . As I said, we hadn't finished our glass of wine before they removed it from the table, and started sweeping up. and we had to leave. I felt very uncomfortable.
Sadly, much of Italian Williamsburg is long gone yet somehow, this place has lingered on as some sort of punishment for those few unfortunates unlucky enough to have wandered in. If you are the sort of person who loves the chicken parm at Greek diners, perhaps this place may suit you.
Awful veal scallopine, grizzle, tasted like the meat was old. Simply had to leave it uneaten. In fact, the three of us left our plates almost intact on the table. The veal with eggplant dish had hard uncooked eggplant with the same oldish tasting hard veal. We were flabbergasted. Our third guest would not eat his dish either which was pasta and a cream sauce. It was as if it came out of a can. How could it have been that bad? In Brooklyn! PS: I thought the cooks wear masks. I looked in and none did. Why did this place get such a high rating? We simply left some cash on the table and left. The food was practically untouched. The waiter didn’t even say he was sorry but protested that he eats it all the time. Quite disappointed with this so-called restaurant.
My friend and I had lobster and cheese ravioli and we both got sick. Food taste wasn't great also felt like the food was old, but also the fact that we only ate from here for the day, I believe the the food here got us sick. just be-careful.
Came in at 845 with a party of 5 for my birthday gathering. Love a mom and pop shop Italian restaurant, so decided to try this place out. Atmosphere is nice. Warm lighting, good dynamics for catching up. Reminds me of decor in my Italian grandma’s house (in a good way). However, the servers were extremely cold, visibly irritated, unfriendly and inattentive right from the start. We were the only ones in there and they barely made an effort. We weren’t overbearing or demanding. Honestly, just wanted the bare minimum without feeling like an inconvenience. At one point, they leaned over and just stared at our table waiting for us to leave (it wasn’t even 10p). Food was decent. Bread was fresh and warm. Vodka sauce was tasty but my meatballs were lukewarm. Was too uncomfortable to ask them to heat them up. Cute place but wouldn’t return based on how bad service was and uncomfortable it made us. I’m very fair when it comes to restaurants and I wanted to like it, but the service needs an attitude adjustment. Get new staff.
I feel bad because the owner seemed so sweet but the food was bland and the chicken had a weird texture. My pasta was just frozen spinach / broccoli rabe which wasn’t strained and dumped into a wet slop of box noodles. The server was rude and seemed annoyed over everything. I won’t be going back.
You would think the pasta would be good in an Italian restaurant or atleast fresh. It’s not. We ordered 4 different pasta dishes that had no taste we needed to keep adding salt and pepper. Very underwhelming, we could have cooked pasta better at home. They rushed us to leave and my plate wasn’t even done saying the place will close in 10 min. Won’t be coming again.
I don’t normally leave reviews but I felt it my obligation to write one because the high rating this restaurant has is very misleading. I went on a date with my girlfriend and the service and experience could not have been worse. While our waitress was very friendly, it took forever to get anyone’s attention when we needed anything and we were basically on our own for the entire evening. The veal I ordered was not fresh and tasted rubbery and vile, but no one was around to take the dish back for almost 20 minutes. When they brought me a new dish, it was missing one of the main ingredients and was not very good. The receipt they brought charged us for both dishes I ordered, and after I pointed this out, they brought me a second receipt that still contained the charge for both dishes. I had to wait another 10 minutes or so to flag down the manager and get a third, final receipt without the spoiled veal charge included. Overall the experience was awful and it ruined the ambiance of the evening. I will never return to this restaurant and if you don’t want to ruin your evening, I strongly recommend you don’t either.
I asked to use the bathroom and they told me it was for customers only. I offered to buy something and was denied as well. Inhumane. Obvious why the restaurant was empty.
