Came here for the first time w my fiance as a last minute resort for valentines, and I do no regret it, I was very pleased with the food, the atmosphere and the hospitality Thomas gave us! Will definitely be returning ❤️✨️!!
The space was a very family and friendly place. The food was delicious. The Beria tacos were extremely extraordinary.
The food is fantastic, the service is outstanding, and I’m in love with the nachos and their margaritas 🤤 JJ is amazing!!! This is my first visit here, and I’ll definitely be coming back!!!
We had so much fun here. Owner and bartenders really created welcoming atmosphere. Food was amazing, service was amazing and the crowd that came to eat or drink was friendly. Definitely coming back here.
The food was amazing! Very good service, and very authentic Mexican food! The Tortillas are had made and the decor will bring you to Mexico 🇲🇽
Marcela is easily one of the best Mexican spots in Brooklyn and slept on. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and homey. There are details throughout the space that are so unique - this is a small business you’d want to support The food was outstanding. Every dish tasted authentic. I usually rate whether a place is authentic or based on their salsas, and this place did not disappoint - ask for their salsa macha if you like spice. The drinks were just as impressive. Strong, but not overbearing.
When we arrived, the owner was extremely attentive and sat us right away. He took our order, welcomed us as it was our first time and clearly cared about us as well as all of his customers in the restaurant. The tacos were FANTASTIC (and I almost never order them and generally don’t really like them but I wanted to try them and they definitely didn’t disappoint). We were there on a Saturday night and the entire restaurant was having so much fun! Karaoke and music, the ambience was great. The singer made the whole restaurant feel like we were all at a wedding or a party together. It was awesome. We loved it. We will definitely be back regularly!
We had such a great experience! The waiter was absolutely wonderful. Very attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The service was quick without feeling rushed. The food was delicious and full of flavor. Everything came out fresh and perfectly prepared. We will definitely be coming back again!
This place is such a gem! Had a mango and passion fruit margarita both were so delicious! The enchiladas were divine. I was initially torn between the red sauce and the mole and was expertly guided towards the mole. The mole was out of this world. The rice and beans side reminded me of my grandmas! It was super nostalgic. This place is definitely worth a trip out of your way! Would recommend!
I've come here a few times because I loved it the first time. The food is fresh, and the service is so friendly. The caldo de Pollo was delicious, and I'm hooked on the hot chocolate. I will be going back again soon.
Came to the restaurant after a night of seeing the Dyker Heights Christmas Lights with some lovely ladies. The location was about 5 mins away from the colorful festive houses. JJ was amazing with service and explained Items that I didn't know. Food was really good, authentic Mexican. I got tacos with different proteins. I'm Soo full and satisfied. I will come back again!!
Absolutely fantastic service by our waiter Tomás. The drinks for happy hour and the food were really good. We tried the quesabirria and the pozole roja, and had margaritas to drink. The atmosphere in this restaurant was really great and we definitely want to revisit with more friends!
This has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants we’ve visited in a long time. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere draws you in, warm and inviting, filled with the kind of charm that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into someone’s home. Every detail in the decor feels personal, from the handpicked accents to the nostalgic touches that instantly transport you to Mexico. The food is just as remarkable. Every dish is layered with flavor, clearly crafted with care and intention. You can taste the depth and tradition in each bite, nothing feels rushed or ordinary. So far, our favorite has been the red Pozole, rich and perfectly seasoned, though we’re already looking forward to coming back to explore more of their menu. It’s rare to find a place that captures both heart and flavor this effortlessly.
Everything about this place was perfect – from the warm service to the cozy atmosphere. The food was absolutely incredible – fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The tacos, rice and beans, mole, and appetizers were all bursting with authentic taste, and the drinks were just as amazing (served so creatively too!). We also tried the flan for dessert, and even though I forgot to snap a picture, it was the sweetest ending to such a delicious meal. A special shoutout to JJ, our waiter/bartender, who went above and beyond with his service – super attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving truly authentic and mouthwatering Mexican food – can’t wait to come back! 🌮✨🍹
This is an AUTHENTIC CLASSIC in the neighborhood! The best Mexican food I've ever had this side of the Mississippi, as a Brooklyn native and a previous resident of Los Angeles, I can honestly say this is the best Mexican food I've ever had!!! Thomas, Jay Jay and Edgar are incredible hosts and throw wonderful dinners that will leave you wanting to come back for a great night out in Bay Ridge!!! The atmosphere, food, music exudes the colorful hospitality of Mexico! They are respected members of the community who only want to leave there consumers, relaxed, rejuvenated and happy! If you want a great date night or a drink at the bar these incredible people will provide it! You will not be disappointed! Thank you Marcela! May you have many more successful years making great memories with the community! God bless! T
Wow is this place a find. My husband and I love Mexican food and were looking for a new place but we are snobs about our Mexican food. Well this place is exceptional. I can’t eat gluten and most of the options are gluten free. The tortillas are homemade blue corn. DELICIOUS! The margaritas are strong and the host,Tomas is very welcoming. He owns the restaurant with his brother and they named it after their mother. It’s clear there is a tremendous amount of love put into it. I can’t say enough. This is not a fast food taco joint. Come in stay for a bit. I left feeling as though I had made a friend. We will definitely be back.
This is a nice spot. The food was delicious. The guacamole was very fresh. JJ was great. He was helpful and communicated with us about any delays. The music was good. The decorations were festive. I'd come back again. We had the chips and guacamole, tacos, tostada, quesedilla, and enchiladas.
This place is so good. Went for Mother’s Day. What my mom ordered the chicken burrito bowl was excellent I had wish I ordered that. The soup I ordered was good but nothing special but for 5 dollars it was what I wanted. The main dish I ordered I was not fully satisfied. Unfortunately I ordered it with regular French fries and got sweet potato fries and at the point I got my food the restaurant was busy I didn’t feel like sending my food back. The burger I had ordered I was okay the actually burger part was so well done that it was kinda like a hockey puck. I would definitely come back to try this place out again I just would try something different and order a cocktail because they look good.
*This review is only for the Elote and the Pastor Burger* Marcela Cocina Mexicana is a very cute, quaint, and warm restaurant with pretty decors and aesthetics that reflects the vibe of the culture. It has a nice setup for whether you prefer an intimate or a more social dining experiences. The staff was nice and friendly, but perhaps because it was during the afternoon, he was often nowhere to be found (i.e., I had to go to the kitchen area to ask for the check); not a big deal but definitely not ideal. Now onto the food which I am confident they are capable of improving: The elote was perfectly charred, but the dressing on it was severely lacking as evident in the pictures below. Even after trying my best to spread the dressing all around the corn, a big portion of it was still just plain empty. So if you like eating a regular grilled corn, this may be decent, but I found it overly plain and disappointing since it wasn't like your typical elote where it was seasoned all around. The Pastor Burger was also unfortunately underwhelming. The interior of the burger was quite dry and the waiter did not ask how I'd like the burger cooked, so it was served well-done. The beef mixture of the patty had some herbs in it but no onions, which made the interior very dry and tough. The al pastor on top of the beef patty was also tough and chewy, which coupled together with the dry beef patty required more effort into chewing rather than enjoying. The guacamole on top was also a bit lacking and perhaps adding some more on top could've helped with its dryness. The grilled pineapple was perhaps the best part because it was grilled with a nice and not-too-overpowering-char, but it also included bits of the core which provided a tougher texture compared to its soft and sweet outer fleshy part. Overall, this was unfortunately not the greatest experience and I was disappointed that I could not experience the pleasant experience other diners/reviewers were able to have. I cannot comment on the other dishes since I haven't had them yet, and they may very well be more flavorful and enjoyable. I believe Marcela Cocina Mexicana has the potential of being a great Mexican restaurant for locals around the area, and I hope they are receptive to my minor critiques on how they can improve the abovementioned dishes. Thank you so much for reading and best of luck! (:
