Opinions de Nem’s Japandi Bistro Brooklyn
Had a really great meal at Nems Bistro last weekend! The menu has a lot of variety, including vegan options, so it’s perfect if you want to try a bit of everything🫶🏻☺️ -Karaage (Japanese fried chicken): super crunchy and flavorful, a great starter. -Grilled teriyaki salmon appetizer: very delicious, the sauce was rich and well-balanced. -Gyudon beef rice bowl w/ poached egg: everything was on point—especially loved it with the seven-grain rice. -Chicken katsu curry: perfectly crispy katsu with savory curry, honestly one of the best I’ve had. -Drinks (Matcha Coconut Water & Mango Peach Tea): light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. -Mochi waffle w/ matcha cream: one of my favorites—super chewy, not too sweet, and so good. The space is large, very cute and aesthetic, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great brunch or dinner spot in Williamsburg. Would happily come back! 🌿✨
Thoroughly pleased with my teishoku chicken set. Tea is a bit pricey ($7-9 for a cup), but the meal and service were excellent. Highly recommend even if only for this meal.
Food was great. The tables were oddly small for the dishes. Also my group was sat upstairs and no one else was upstairs so it was a little odd, but it was nice to have a private room. Also the bath had no soap or paper towels. Great gluten free and vegan and vegan options. Would go back again!
Very impressed with the smoothies here! They are like art 💖 the only thing I would say is the price point is high ($19). Other than that, a delicious spot, I recommend you go just to try one of these memorable smoothies. I got the matcha glow. It’s on the thicker side so I recommend grabbing a spoon with you just in case you need it.
visited for the first time today because i saw their carbonara udon on Instagram and had to have it!! Nem's has a huge selection with a variety of Japanese and Scandinavian dishes, as well as gluten-free and vegan options. the carbonara udon was delicious and filling, and i had an oat matcha latte with lavender cream that was also very good. we also tried the banoffee mochi waffle; the presentation was beautiful, but the waffle itself was a little tasteless which was disappointing. overall i'd definitely go again to try more of the menu options, the food was good and the bistro atmosphere was very chill. i will say it is somewhat expensive for the amount of food you get; the banoffee waffle was $19 and the udon was around $18, so this is something to keep in mind.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Perfect Start to Any Day! Last Saturday I visited Nem's Japandi Bistro, and let me tell you — I was not prepared for how amazing their smoothie would be. I ordered “Let’s Start The Day”, and honestly, it didn’t just start my day… it upgraded my entire weekend! From the very first sip, I felt like I was being personally blessed by the smoothie gods. The blend of banana, whey protein, peanut butter, maca, cacao nibs, and almond milk was so perfectly balanced that I’m convinced there must be some secret magic behind the counter. It’s rich, creamy, energizing, and somehow refreshing all at once — like drinking motivation through a straw. The texture was silky, the flavors were spot-on, and the portion was generous enough to make me feel like I got premium value. If every morning started like this, I’d probably run a marathon before breakfast. The atmosphere at Nem’s Japandi Bistro makes the experience even better — cozy outdoor seating, friendly vibes, and a calm neighborhood corner that’s perfect for enjoying a great drink while people-watching. The staff were warm, welcoming, and clearly put a lot of care into what they serve. If you're anywhere near the area, do yourself a favor and stop by. And whatever you do, don’t leave without trying “Let’s Start The Day.” It might just become your new morning ritual. Highly recommended — exceptional drink, lovely atmosphere, and absolutely worth every dollar. I’ll definitely be back!
Genuinely pleasantly surprised by Nems. This spot is cozy and adorned with trinkets inside. Staff are friendly and talkative. I ordered the katsu sandwich and was hoping it would live up to my standards, and I actually really enjoyed it. Although different than a typical katsu sandwich, the chicken, slaw and sauce are perfection!! Will be back
Nem’s is a gem. First, the menu is uniquely cultured fusing Japanese savory subtleties with Scandinavian simplicity. Interesting and innovative food, decor and style. Superb tech for ordering with a great rewards program. Ordering in advance is so easy and always on point. The staff is wonderful with the Marvelous Ms Nem, her impeccable style and her stunning smile lighting up the room. Nem’s smoothies are my favorite. Aura blue. This place needs to be in your rotation.
Came here with my sister for lunch and had a wonderful time. The cafe is so cute and the menu is quite extensive (there’s just so many options, you’ll have to come back!). Our waitress was the sweetest and answered any questions/concerns that we had. I got the hamachi don and my sister got the katsu. Both were delicious and the portions are filling! I will definitely come back.
I visited Nem’s bistro for my birthday because I wanted one of the beautiful smoothies! They have a special birthday smoothie that was so delicious and beautifully decorated. I also got the japandi egg sando and my friends and I shared the matcha mochi waffle. Both were soooo good! The texture of the waffle was enjoyable and the matcha whipped cream was so delicious. My friends got two of the donburi bowls and loved them. The owner Nem came to take our order and she was very kind and welcoming. They were busy so the service was a bit on the slower side, but we were busy talking so we didn’t mind too much. I would love to come back and try more food and smoothies! Definitely recommend. Thank you, Nem! :)
Such an amazing new gem in the neighborhood! Imported matcha from Japan!! So authentic and great service. Still a new place so they tend to get super busy but recommend getting there before the crowds hit around 7pm. Such great, fresh food options. You can taste the difference here. They really put TLC onto everything they offer! The cocktails are also excellent and the presentation is beautiful!! Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The food, service and the atmosphere were great! Select ceremonial matcha blew my mind. Chicken Katsu Sando and smorgasbord were tasty and worth coming back for. The egg salad sandwich was packed with surprising and exciting flavors. I will be happy to come back to try more. A perfect addition to the neighborhood!
We discovered Nem’s Japandi Bistro during one of our strolls through Williamsburg and came back for brunch — such a lovely find. The aromatic coffee and refreshing ichigo juice were the perfect start. We shared the gravlax smørrebrød (added avocado +$7) and the miso-buttered scrambled eggs. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The toasted sourdough with miso butter was especially delicious — savory, rich, and beautifully balanced. $$$ for value 👍👍👍for vibe 😋😋😋😋 for food
Compact Japanese eatery turning out some authentic Japanese cuisine and some innovative dishes as well. We stopped in for a unplanned lunch and we had seen somebody post about the udon carbonara so we decided to try that. As expected, it was rich and delicious. We started with the agedashi tofu, which was expertly prepared, delicately fried in a tasty Japanese sauce with grated radish. The place is pretty tight indoors, but we found two spots at the narrow counter facing outside and it was fine. I would say the prices are a little bit on the high side, they may want to take a look at that. Otherwise… Recommended!
It’s a cute little window with smoothies, bento box, sushi, sandos. I got the egg Sando, it didn’t taste like 7-eleven in Japan but still satisfied my craving. I like that the bread was fried. For smoothie tried the Buddha detox with passion fruit puree, mango, banana lime and honey which was refreshing.
The food is tasty but portions are incredibly small for the price point. The entrees are pretty much appetizer portions. There are much better tasting restaurants with proper portions in the neighborhood at the same price point. We came for the udon soup. While it tasted good, the menu said it came with mixed vegetables and it did not. There was also hardly any broth. We also tried one of their prices Erewhon-style smoothies. The photos at least advertise them as Erewhon-style- multilayered with lots of goodies. However they arrive looking like any $8 smoothie. I would come back again only when they resolve the discrepancy between food portions and quality to price.
I like the atmosphere and the food, but service should really improve. You can’t give two people who go for a brunch, their food 30+ minutes apart.Whatever kitchen it comes from, whatever the reason is. Coordinate it before. Your kitchen issues shouldn’t become ours. We simply wanted to eat out but got bummer by the service. Also, when asked for the check the server was really really chaotic, and helped the lady (who asked for it after us)first. Last but not least! When I didn’t tip him enough he bluntly asked was there something wrong? Like yes!! Do you want extensive feedback? Here you go. Crazy to be that bold.. and even get mad at us for not tipping after receiving bad service.
