Opinions de Pasta Louise Brooklyn
This is my go to spot for the Brooklyn's best pasta, drinks and vibes. Always a great time!!! The to go pasta is also great to take home when I want great pasta to eat at home.
Had a great meal — spicy red pesto pasta was fantastic — and Tyrus, our server, was knowledgeable and so hospitable. Will be back soon!
Had a great anniversary lunch with my girlfriend. Daisy was an incredible server and did an amazing job for our first time there. Can't wait to go back again!!
Pasta Louise has the perfect atmosphere for gathering of friends and family, date ❤️ night and special celebratory dinners! The bar is spot on, the food warms the belly and the staff doesn't allow you to be a stranger. Worth a visit from those near and far. Wish I lived closed enough to be a regular!
Love pasta Louise! It’s a great family neighborhood spot but also good for date night. The staff is great and I love seeing all the families enjoying great food. This is the one restaurant my 3 year old knows by name
THE BEST pasta, some great creative varieties in pasta to choose from. Thanks to Juan for helping us choose a delicious pasta and suggestions on cocktails. Dad’s red pepper sauce was a top one! Focaccia bread is a must try here. Some great gin based summer cocktails and a dog friendly outdoor seating. Love this spot!
As neighborhood residents we've enjoyed dining at Pasta Louise ever since they opened. I think we've tried almost every menu item and have been consistently pleased beyond measure. Their sauces are all homemade and based on recipes handed down in the family of owner Allison after whose mother the restaurant is named. This place is the real deal, offering time-tested great dishes, from small bites to full meals, along with a wide selection of beverages, wines and a full bar. The ambiance is relaxed and the service is friendly. You'll feel like part of the family. Whether for brunch, lunch or dinner, Past aLouise is a sure-fire winner!
Fresh pasta restaurant with wrap around views of historical brownstone Brooklyn. There is outdoor front porch seating. There is a large bar and a few high seats upon entering. The staff is attentive and professional. The food is visually appealing and delicious. The cocktails are very pretty and aromatic.
Pasta Louise was amazing. The walk to the restaurant was serene. The waitstaff were all pleasant and attentive, our own waiter, Aaron, went above and beyond to explain everything without being pushy or condescending. He made us feel welcome. The vibe inside was very chill but not you busy. The food was top-notch. The pastas and the tiramisu were fantastic. Next time I'm in Brooklyn, I'll head back for sure.
You have to get the whipped ricotta toast - it’s so delicious. Good wine selection and their pasta is handmade daily (each day there is only one shape of pasta available). Loved the spicy prosciutto add on. The vibes were immaculate and the service was amazing! 100% recommend. Make sure to go to the location on 12th street
Best pasta I've had! Full of flavor and texture. Plan on going back and trying all the sauces. Drinks were also very well made!
5/5 ⭐️ experience at Pasta Louise for date night! Amazing quality-price ratio. The cacio e pepe and pasta with tomato were delicious, the ambiance was perfect, and the waitstress and all other staff were impecable. The hostess kindly messaged me to ask for my preference for dinner knowing it was a special ocassion, and the waitress gifted us a delicious banana bread for dessert for our anniversary. There were affordable pasta options, including a great 9-10 happy hour deal for the caccio e pepe when eating at the bar. Will definetly be coming again! 😊
What an experience!! I traveled to NY from Texas and wanted to give my mom the best celebratory dinner since she’s finished her chemo and is finally in remission and I am so happy google suggested this yummy yummy restaurant! The service was amazing, the food was out of this world. It was cozy! And my boyfriend and mother had the absolute pleasure of chatting with the owner just before our service. I can’t suggest this place enough. A delicious Italian restaurant with the biggest heart in NY! Thank you all for what you did and making our night memorable!
Was there with a large party for a birthday, food and service were excellent, need that pasta every Sunday! Definitely exceeded my expectations.
Perfect spot to refuel after ice skating in the park. The whipped ricotta toast was stellar (the drizzle of fennel oil really took this to the next level) and the fresh pasta hit the spot. The tomato sauce was definitely my favorite of the two, but I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.
It was cozy and delightful! Great service and amazing food. We plan to come back! We had the pasta shape of the day (cresta de gallo) with meatballs and also short rib ragú. We also got the focaccia sampler and the seasonal french onion focaccia was AMAZING. We hope they make it permanent :) Overall a great cozy spot for a date or intimate dinner if you’re craving pasta and good Italian.
Came here for an early Valentine's dinner and loved everything about our experience! I've previously been to the cafe so I knew the food would be just as amazing! The atmosphere was beautiful and so romantic with the flowers places around the restaurant. Even though we were full from dinner we made space for dessert which was absolutely delicious and worth it! We can't wait to come back for another date night.
Pasta Louise is one of our family favorite restaurants! Homemade pasta of the day is always delicious, accompanied by one of their special sauces. Appetizers and starters are delicious. My favorite dessert is their banana bread topped with vanilla ice cream!
A group of friends and I attended a mahjong event ordering food beforehand and drinks during. The citrus salad is a showstopper. The staff was really outstanding. Always a great experience at Pasta Louise
Great local spot in Brooklyn. They make their own pasta with a different shape every day. You choose the sauce and add ons. Had their tomato sauce with meatballs and burrata cheese. Delicious!
The food was really good! Everybody was very happy with what they order. I had pasta limone, Mac and cheese and tiramisu (which it was super delicious the best one I had in a long time). I like the decor, the space is big and our waitress was super friendly! Can’t wait to come back!
This place is fantastic! We shared a few dishes - the cacio e pepe and red pepper sauce were terrific. Always made to feel like family at Pasta Louise. If you haven’t been you’re missing out!
does anyone need to read yet another glowing review of this place? Yes, yes they do. From the moment you enter, especially as a solo diner, they treat you like royalty. The ambience, the staff, and of course the food are all exemplary. Pasta and focaccia is homemade, delicious and always better with breadcrumbs or Calabrian chiles - or both- and the accompanying sauce options are thoughtful pairings that are well seasoned and not greasy: Brussels sprouts and guanciale, charred broccoli and shrimp, to name a few. There’s a reason this place is packed at lunch, and of course dinner it’ll be my go to pasta place going forward.
Best pasta in Brooklyn hands down (yea, I said it!). What makes this place special though is the service. This is where I send all family and friends and where I plan to host celebrations. They have always always always taken exceptional care of my family and have worked extra hard to squeeze us in when I have family and friends coming through the area and I couldn’t make a reservation in time. Special thanks to Tyler and Vilana last night - they made some magic happen when my in-laws showed up. Thanks again!
Delicious bowl of Cacio e Pepe topped with crispy prosciutto. I first tried Pasta Louise at the Barclays Center and was so impressed with it, I knew I had to go to their actual restaurant. Every day, they have a different special pasta shape. Patrons simply pick their sauce and add-ons to go along with it. This one was cavatelli.
Ate here last week for the second time and man oh man, it just keeps getting better and better! The whole staff was really friendly, especially Luke, our waiter, who kept checking in at just the right time to make sure we had what we needed! The specialty cocktail from the bar was out of this world! Executive chef Jonathan is next level spittin out creative dishes like spicy lamb Sugo pasta and fresh pickled veggies (just one of the many appetizers we ordered, but an unexpected standout hit!) The pesto pasta with short rib was a collective fav and the tiramisu is some of the best! (Though I suggest not sleeping on the strawberry shortcake cup!) The ambience is cozy, the “grandma wall” is endearing, and the prices are more than reasonable. I can’t WAIT to go back again! (Also I want to know when Bar Louise is opening cause I learned they will have their own super rad menu of non pasta yums)
walked in for a mid afternoon lunch and was seated immediately! their citrus salad was so sweet and tart and spicy and perfect and the whipped ricotta tasted like a savory buttercream in the best way. but the star of the show was absolutely the pasta. this day we had this rigatoni meets campanelle shape perfect for a cacio e pepe and red pepper sauce, new fav pasta spot for sure
Owner and General Manager are absolute gems. Bar manager has put together an extremely creative cocktail list. The best restaurant in the neighborhood.
Came here for dinner a little bit ago and loved literally everything we tried. The menu is pretty expansive so I definitely wanna go back to try more! If it's your first time in, definitely go with the fresh pasta - loved the spicy sauce with crispy prosciutto but heard the red pepper pesto and cacio e pepe are also wonderful. Honestly, I'm not sure you could go wrong with this menu - and the portion sizes are great. We sat outside on a lovely night but would love to sit inside next time just to assess the ambience more. That being said, loved the vibe and loved the neighborhood! For dessert, had the chocolate cake which was light and delicate and the banana bread with salted caramel ice cream - a great combo!
We were able to snag a spot at the bar for 2 people on a busy Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere is so cute and I love that the dining room doors open to the outside. I got the pasta rose spritz to drink and it was lovely but I was expecting it to be a bit sweeter. We ordered a Caesar salad and ragu special to share. The pasta was amazing and both plates were enough food to split (if you are not starving). The check was so reasonable considering the quality of the food and our server/bartender was so kind and attentive. We had a great experience!
Wow! What an incredible place. My wife and I took my dad out and each of us were thrilled at the product. The idea is simple, they have a pasta of the day and you select the sauce. The one with the mushrooms was incredible. We were all jealous of my dad for ordering it. The faster with a vodka sauce was also perfect. Even the olives were really good. Worth the extra price. We’ll be back again soon.
Pasta Louise has been a staple in our family since it opened! A great neighborhood joint for a reliable and delicious menu, and their staff is always kind, welcoming and attentive. Our parent group often meets there in the morning for coffee. I love being able to grab a quick bite, or take a leisurely lunch complete with cocktail. A great addition to Park Slope.
Food was excellent! You can definitely taste that the pasta was freshly made. Our table ordered different dishes and was able to share with everyone on the table (of four). Parking can be a hassle, but if you come on the right time (6-7pm), you should be able to find one right away. The place is beautiful, also! Highly recommended place! If you love pasta, this is a place to definitely hit up! 😋 Just a tip: Tuesdays is long pasta day.
We had no trouble getting a table for 2 on a Thursday night. We ordered the artichoke à la Romano and whipped ricotta with fennel oil. They were fine. Then we had the Bolognese lasagna. Forget all of the appetizers. Go straight to the Bolognese lasagna. Each ingredient on its own was delicious with the texture it should have. The meat had the texture of meat. The pasta has the texture of pasta. It is far, far, far from the usual monolithic bowl of salty, starchy mush. Put all together it is a stunning blend of flavors and textures.
Pasta Louise is absolutely spectacular ! Some of the friendliest service you’ll find in Brooklyn. We started with the seasonal focaccia board and it was fresh & flavorful. The Cacio e Pepe was delicious, and the pasta with meatballs was delicious x2 ! If you’re looking for a nice Sunday pasta dish this is the place.
“Mangia” means “eat” in Italian, and at Pasta Louise you do just that to your heart’s content. From the atmosphere, to our waitress, to the appetizers and main dishes; everything was a delight. Louise’s Charcuterie Plate had a good variety of cured meats, cheeses, and honey drizzled raisins. It was a tasty, traditional Italian starter. The Local Burrata with Summer Melon was refreshing in all aspects—from plating to taste, as was the Summer Tomato Salad. As far as pasta, I debated between the lasagna and the Wild Mushroom and Fresh Herb Sauce paired with the pasta of the day, “radiatori.” I opted for the latter and was not disappointed. The sauce was not too creamy, or overly heavy as cream sauce typically makes me feel. The pasta was also cooked to perfection. I added breadcrumbs, but honestly the dish could’ve done without it. Pasta with Roasted Tomato Sauce, and Cacio e Pepe were also ordered and good options but my favorite was the wild mushroom sauce. I’ve been to the original “cafe” location a few times, but this new location is so charming (especially with the floral decor) and much more spacious. Very family friendly and a wonderful go-to for Italian.
Run!! Run here now!! Seriously the pasta, vibes and staff are all so amazing here. Everything is so so fresh and flavorful. We got the special pesto short rib and it was one of the best pasta dishes I’ve had in the city. Fennel ricotta got better with every bite and the espresso martini was great. Would definitely get the special again but would probably get something other thanthe dads pasta. Absolutely will be returning here
Charming and welcoming space…every occupied table had that vibe that they were regulars. You know…that easy energy…sipping their glasses and picking at their plate. My family of 5 were there for a late lunch. Welcomed by plenty of sunshine through the windows as well as the staff. Our experience started with the lovely focaccia (both regular and seasonal) and the brussel sprouts with that balsamic reduction; moved onto pasta options (spicy red pesto, meatballs); arugula, sunshine, and farro salads rounded out our meals. Plenty to share…as we all enjoyed a bite or two from each other’s plate. So glad my family and I had a flexible moment during our stay in NYC to try this gem. Looking forward to having dinner there with old friends on our next visit!
Went for an early dinner. Made a reservation but didn’t need one. Had the seasonal focaccia and the pasta special, a spring pesto. It was delicious. Fresh pasta, complex sauce. Service was friendly and timely. I’d like visit again to get another dish and try out some of the house cocktails. It was a pleasant experience and affordable for a filling Friday-afternoon-for-two meal.
Excellent food and attentive service--even on a busy night. Everyone felt down to Earth! We really enjoyed the ricotta focaccia, red pepper pasta, and banana bread in particular. Food was flavorful and portion size was perfect. The espresso martinis were nice and strong, too. I'll come again.
Happened to be in park slope again and never forget to visit Pasta Louis. Was there for lunch on a cold day, and it was the perfect cozy spot. It wasn’t too busy, so the food came out quickly, which was great. I had the Whipped Ricotta Toast and Dad’s Famous Red Pepper Sauce Pasta—my third time ordering them, and they were still just as amazing! The pasta is rich and flavorful, with the perfect balance of spice and creaminess. My partner had the Carbonara along with an Old Fashioned cocktail, and he really enjoyed both. The pasta was creamy and well-balanced, and the cocktail was well-made. Definitely a spot worth coming back to!
Hands down, amazing! Wow. Everything we tried was so darn good! The salad, the focaccia bread, the pastas, drinks, and desert. So fresh and so flavorful. Say yes to anything whipped!! My goodness, they whip anything into the most delicate clouds. So light, so creamy and smooth. Definitely coming back to try more!
A neighborhood staple - you can’t go wrong with the pasta here. For the price you pay (especially for the area), I was pleasantly surprised with the portions they gave. Everything was delicious and the ingredients were very fresh. I enjoyed my chicken parm pasta which came with a thin cutlet. Would definitely seeing myself coming back here. Simple yet fair in their price and quality!
Had a lovely meal with my lovely niece here! I love that the pasta shape changes daily, thats a fun touch and I will surely be back to see what else the chef comes up with. The service was incredible as well. I unfortunately forgot the name of our waitress, she had curly hair and glasses (it might have been Sophie?), but she was an absolute delight. Took great care of us and made us feel right at home!!!
Visiting Brooklyn the evening before my half marathon, we stopped by Pasta Louise for dinner. I had booked a reservation for Friday, but as luck would have it, the two of us were seated right away as walk-ins. Quick note on parking: there is free street parking. We managed to parallel park nearby, but others may have to circle around a bit. The ambiance struck me immediately: warm, inviting, and cozy, with more seating than I expected thanks to a neat little outdoor patio. Starters: Our server pointed us to the specials, so we began with the Stracciatella focaccia (seasonal). The bread, layered with melted cheese and herbs, was excellent — quick to arrive, light but flavorful, and frankly a bit addictive. I held back after a couple of pieces, saving room for the real test: pasta. Mains: My dinner partner ordered the Spicy Red Pesto — sun-dried tomatoes, lemon zest, garlic, Calabrian chiles, sunflower seeds. No option to add shrimp, so they took it as-is. I went for the house favorite: Cacio e Pepe — cracked black pepper and salty pecorino — with burrata and arugula added on top. Both dishes looked modest in portion at first, but appearances deceived; they were filling in just the right way. I tried both but, unsurprisingly, preferred my own. The pecorino on the Cacio e Pepe carried the dish: sharp, savory, and absolutely sublime. I couldn't pin down the pasta shape — penne, or something close — but it hardly mattered. Each bite was balanced, deeply flavorful, and worth savoring. For me, this easily places in the top three Italian restaurants I've experienced. I restrained myself a little — half the burrata, a careful share of bread — mindful of the half marathon ahead the next morning. That race went spectacularly; I placed in the top 10. Pasta Louise played no small role in fueling that performance. Verdict: Pasta Louise is a gem of Brooklyn dining. Cozy atmosphere, excellent service, and pasta that borders on transcendent. I'll absolutely return when I'm back in New York, and I recommend it without hesitation to anyone in search of genuinely excellent Italian fare. Last visited: August 22, 2025
What a delicious meal! Pasta Louise may be hated on by the Park Slope community, but the daily pasta shape keeps you on your toes with fresh and flavorful sauces. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere is what you’d expect from a place like Louise in park slope: full of children, with good vibes.
What's going on here? The pasta was awesome. The staff actually knows about food. The space is super charming. FYI - While the pasta was seasonal and fresh, the farro salad is totally slept on. I finished it off with a cup full of tiramisu and a second negorni. Rock on Louise. See you soon.
Great neighborhood place. One kind of Fresh pasta made everyday. Then you add the type of sauce you want. Great concept. The day we went was rigatini, perfectly cooked to al dente. Meatballs sauce w excellent n sausage n broccoli rabe is also very good. We sat by the bar n service was friendly, attentive n courteous. Will definitely come back.
Fabulous food and service and atmosphere, went on a weeknight for dinner, yummy fresh pasta, had cacio de pep with shrimp and also pasta and meatballs dish. Appetizer of Brussels sprouts recommended. Cappuccinos and blood orange sorbet for dessert. Well done! Several couples and families, some with strollers also welcome. Restrooms clean.
This spot has been on my list for a while, and wow—was it worth the wait! From the cozy, inviting atmosphere to the mouthwatering pasta and genuinely warm, friendly staff, everything exceeded my expectations. Every bite was delicious, and the service made the whole experience feel extra special. I’m already looking forward to going back and trying more of their amazing pasta dishes! 🍝
Absolutely wonderful experience! I went on a Wednesday afternoon during lunch. Was greeted by the owner and promptly seated at the bar. Nikki was the bartender and made the most perfect spritz and espresso martini I've ever had. I enjoy how they change their pasta shapes, which tells you its made fresh daily. Best pasta I've had in New York by far. I will be back, with friends!
Pasta Louise is such a cute and yummy place to go to dinner with friends! I thought the ambience, service, staff and menu menu were all very lovely. The food seems very fresh and very well prepared with fresh ingredients as well. They shared that the chef chooses a special pasta shape each day for all the guests to enjoy home made pasta! I love the beautiful interior as well. The only thing I would say, is it is a little bit expensive, but totally understandable as not a lot of restaurants take pride in their fresh produce and food! I ordered the plain Caesar Salad with added Burrata, and a glass of wine. My total with tip/tax was around $40. My friends grabbed a lemonade and a plain tomato pasta with burrata as well and were nearing that price as well. It was my friend’s birthday and they actually sang and gave us a complimentary brownie! Very kind of them! Thank you! All in all, a cute place for date night or a spot for dinner for a friends get together on the special occasion I can afford it! Thank you Pasta Louise!
Okay I feel like I’m being pranked but I just ordered delivery and the amount of oil and meat on my pasta has to be criminal. I ordered the Cacio e Pepe with crispy pancetta/prosciutto and the ratio of noodles to meat is hellish. Like there is somehow more meat that noodle. Not only that, but the pasta is swimming in oil and is ridiculously salty. I’ve had pasta from here before and it’s been pretty good, so I’m surprised by this order. Sucks, this was supposed to be a treat to myself for the week but I feel I just wasted $30. EDITED — Was contacted and received a new pasta that was SO delicious and a cookie. Really loved that, excellent customer service and genuine concern. The bolognese is really good.
Such a fun pasta restaurant that is so unique — every day they curate a new pasta shape! The menu just includes the topping options for the one pasta shape of the day. Definitely worth a try if you’re in the area! The crispy prosciutto is a must add to any dish, and the burrata is a lovely addition too.
This place has evolved over the years and the pasta and variety on the menu are simply delicious. Pasta is made fresh along with traditional add on and local in house specialties. I forgot the name of what we ordered, but the food was just as delicious as the pictures. Kid friendly, whelk chair accessible and a neighborhood gem.
Decent pasta, but only one shape per day and sometimes not the best shape for the sauce you want. The cacio pepe is the top seller and it's fine but not out of this world. The crispy spicy Prosciutto is cubed too thick and very hard, and too spicy, there was so much red oil from it the pasta was impacted, recommend not adding the Prosciutto. Red pesto is decent. Plain red sauce with meatballs was sweet and the best of all I tried.
This is such a lovely place for a night out. The atmosphere is so cozy and I loved the decor. I wish there was more table space but appreciated we got seated right away on a busy Saturday night. I thought the food was very affordable too and really liked my Shirley Temple. Great attentive service.
a deal breaker for me when dining out is the customer service. it determines my return or vow to never return all while spreading the good/bad gospel to those who care to listen. the level of customer service I received last night was 10/10. from the awareness of the waitress/staff to the initiative taken from whom I believed to be the manager (Ellie). my friends and I left feeling considered and cared for. will def be visiting again soon. (desserts were Phenom btw)
Pasta Louise is packed on a Friday night and rightfully so. The food is really good. You cannot go wrong with the bread platter. Who doesn't love bread?! We both chose Dad's Famous Red Pepper Sauce. I decided to add shrimp. Add parm. It was really good. I tried not to eat the entire plate!!! Drank a glass of rose. Just perfect!!! The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful! My wait was around 15 mins. Service was good.
Quick dinner after a movie on a weeknight. The place is lovely, great vibes and amazing service. Thanks for the hospitality! The seasonal focaccia was amazing, super light and fluffy! The burrata was also very good but maybe a bit overwhelmed with olive paste. We ordered some cacio e pepe with spicy prosciutto and the dish was very salty and flavours were very strong overall was it was a bit too much. The ceasar salad was good, nice dressing. Would love to come back to try their lasagna and other pasta sauces!
Hi, cute little spot! Servers and host amazing! The place was packed and everyone was having a good time. The Louis’s shrimp scampi was amazing!! Got about 5 shrimps and the Sauce finger linking good. I got the peach ginger mocktail, I had 2 it was so refreshing. I didn’t like that we don’t get to choose our own pasta. Chef choses 1 pasta per day thus my kids didn’t get to choose spaghetti how they wanted it. They didn’t enjoy the food. I got Dad famous red pepper sauce with the prosciutto. I did not enjoy it. Overall okay , I would definitely return to try more food options.
the pasta was delicious and the drinks were perfect but the focaccia was probably the worst i’ve ever tasted. they also have a really cute pasta mural on the wall i didn’t grab a picture of. they also have a charity dedicated to creating scholarships for children who have lost a parent to cancer and feature a drink on the menu that donates a dollar to that charity. consider going to support xx
Fresh pasta served happily with good ambiance, good service & hospitality, good drinks, good prices & good food! If you’re in the area pay a visit, if you’re near the area but you got adulting to attend to, order from their take out storefront a few blocks over ahead of time so it’s ready for your delight.
My second visit for dinner. I was hoping it would be better this time. Sadly food it just ok. Not enough veggies with my pasta. Portions small. Server's attentive atmosphere pleasant a little loud for me.
Atmosphere is great. Service attentive. They make one pasta shape a day, which is fine. A specific feedback, I ordered the add-on of "crispy prosciutto" which came as dense smaller cuttings. I think some people seek out richer food, but it was rather heavy for me.
The atmosphere was nice and so were the staffs. Space is big and has a back room and two bathrooms. I enjoyed my mocktails my friends had the spritz they were strong and fragrant. The pasta shape was fun it was one daily, today it was a spiral looking rosy shape. Nice and just right texture and the burrata persimmon app was tasty. Focaccia was a bit dry needed more moist or olive oil, but it was crunchy outside. The sauces for pasta was overwhelming for the tomato and the broccoli shrimp. I would say the cacio e pepe sauce was the best out of our pastas, and it was just right but yet. My broccoli shrimp was too zesty and i felt like i was drinking lime juice. The crispy chick peas and crispy prosciutto was too much hardness it gave jerky. Honestly my friend had a stomach ache and chills later the night, and threw up multiple times. The food here is bloat-y, and very much sodium and bad reaction afterwards :( sad bois.
3.5 ⭐️ The decor is cute/ charming and service was really good. Unfortunately the food fell a bit short for us. The meatballs with ricotta and focaccia was probably the best thing we had. The pesto with braised short ribs came a bit too salty to be really enjoyed, dad’s famous red pepper sauce had a thick Mac and cheese like consistency and taste to it (we also had shrimp added, and it didn’t seem like there was enough). The Lamb Sugo and Spicy Red Pesto were the most liked out of the four we had.
I got strata that left mixed feelings : good crusty and tasty outside with a soggy and tasteless inside. Maybe try putting more sausage and veggies inside? My friend got a super small glass of aperol for good 16 bucks. Also I think the presentation is important and even if the dish is made in the oven it deserves to be wiped before being served. Instant turn off at least for me. The place is nice though. Tips minimum 20%
Hello, We are writing to share feedback after what was likely our final attempt to dine at PASTA LOUISE on Saturday evening around 7:00pm. We have eaten here multiple times because the food is genuinely good and we wanted this to be a regular neighborhood spot for us. Unfortunately, the experience across visits has been consistently frustrating. We are often seated at poor tables even with reservations, service feels chronically overextended, orders are frequently incorrect, and the overall front-of-house tone has felt tense rather than welcoming. On this most recent visit, we made a deliberate decision to lower our expectations around service and simply enjoy the food. Our plan was to order at the bar and take the food to go after a cocktail. When we entered, there were three open seats at the bar. As we approached, we were abruptly yelled at by the hostess, a brunette working the front at approximately 7:00pm on Saturday. The volume and tone were startling and unnecessary. She told us the bar seats were unavailable and that there would be a 15 minute wait. We immediately accepted this and began to leave. At that point, we asked a simple follow-up question based on prior experience: whether we could place a takeout order instead. We were told flatly that you do not offer takeout and that you are dine-in only, despite the fact that we have previously received delivery from Pasta Louise. When we asked again repeating that we've had take out before, we were told "No, we only do dine in." Another staff member behind the counter, who appeared uncomfortable witnessing the interaction, then interjected to clarify that your café location at 8th Avenue and 8th Street does offer takeout. We thanked her, said “got it,” and left without further comment. We went home instead and will not be doing this again. No single moment here was explosive. But the combination of being yelled at upon arrival, given incorrect information, and witnessing internal staff confusion was the final confirmation that the front-of-house experience does not currently match the quality of the food. At no point did I ever express anger, frustration, or even change my tone. It should be noted that I've been polite and have finished every interraction with gratitude and a "thank you". As a customer (and someone who has worked in hospitatity and restaurants), I treat everyone with warmth and appreciation. This note is not written in anger. It is written in disappointment. We tried repeatedly to make this restaurant work for us, and on this last visit we actively adjusted our plans to accommodate what we assumed would be a busy night. The way we were spoken to and handled made it clear that our presence was an inconvenience. We hope this feedback is useful. The kitchen is doing strong work. The guest experience, particularly at the door, is where things are breaking down. Sincerely, Two neighbors who genuinely wanted this to be our place
I loved the vibe of the restaurant and the service was top notch. The focaccia was simply stellar; the first bite was incredibly memorable. Though my main pasta, with the Spicy Red Pesto sauce, left much to be desired. Perhaps it was too cheesy; leaving almost a nacho-cheese like aftertaste? I wasn't able to finish the Spicy Red Pesto pasta even though I was hungry enough.
I won’t be coming back. There are simply too many good Italian restaurants in Brooklyn to waste a night (and a check) on mediocrity or worse. Let me be fair where fairness is due: the shrimp scampi was better than average. Not just edible, not merely decent, actually better than most I’ve had. That was the high point. Unfortunately, from there, the meal took a devastating turn. The sausage and peach Ragu was an outright failure. Sweetness and richness can dance if balanced well, but this dish? It crashed through the floor. The sweetness overwhelmed, the sausage underwhelmed, and the texture clashed. It was the culinary equivalent of a blind date who brings their ex along. To top it off, I need to invoke what I call the Dog Protocol™: when leftovers don’t even tempt me for a second round, they go to my dogs. In this case, that Ragu skipped any consideration, it went straight from the plate to the pups. And let the record show: they didn’t hesitate. They devoured it. But that says more about their lack of discernment than the dish’s merit. The space is charming. The staff is kind. But no amount of ambiance or goodwill can rescue a dish that shouldn’t have left the kitchen. Brooklyn has standards. So do I.
I got their ‘best seller’ Cacio e Pepe and added the crispy prosciutto. I found it way too salty and this is coming from someone who likes salt. The pasta with meatballs wasn’t as salty but lacked some flavor. The burrata we added was a small portion. The whipped ricotta was served on focaccia and was a good light starter to have. During the summer months, I’d recommend having a reservation especially if you want to sit outdoors because we weren’t able to get a table outside or be placed on a waitlist. They have a couple high top tables just outside the entrance as a second option.
USED to be amazing. I’ve been coming here since 2020. My friends and I loved a Pasta Louise night, always leaving with a well satisfied feeling. But the last several times I’ve gone there’s been a distinct change. The servers have dropped in attentiveness, neglecting to share the pasta shape or specials unless prompted. We’re left alone for around 40 minutes to an hour after the main course, unable to get a refill or check unless we directly flag them down. And while the appetizers and cocktails remain top tier, the pasta dishes have become lackluster and…watery. And I used to drool with anticipation for the main course. My guess is they’ve stretched themselves too thin with the addition of Bar Louise. Lastly- sound absorption. They need it. Every surface in there is hard, creating a din of noise that has you almost shouting to be heard across the table. I hope they can course correct, I’d hate to stop going to a place that has become such a staple for me.
We used to enjoy Pasta Louise, mainly because it's a menu that's easy with kids (think a more pretentious Olive Garden). The handmade pasta is fresh, the sauces, especially the salad dressings, are tasty. But the pasta usually seems to be overcooked, and the portions are small. But I don't think we'll be going anymore because the service staff are unwelcoming. I made 6:30 reservations to go on a dinner date with my 6-year-old and was made to wait close to 20 minutes with no explanation. During this time, the hostess' attitude was very off-putting, almost like she's doing me a favor by trying to get my reserved table ready, which alone made me consider leaving but I stayed for my hungry kid's sake. Finally when they said our table was ready, we walk back to the second room and see that at least 6 tables were unoccupied, cleaned and ready. Waiting at the door for 20 minutes, we did not see 6 tables worth of people leave (see picture!). I wouldn't be surprised if this review attracts a snarky response from the restaurant because when I asked about it, the attitude was defensive. The manager was not at all apologetic but he did tell me he wouldn't make us leave when our reservation time was up, as if that was a special favor he was doing for us. We left without eating and went to the nearby Crosta instead where we were met with the usual service with a smile and delicious food.
Pasta Louise has a lot of nerve to charge 20 dollars for a pasta with meatballs dish with three appetizer size meatballs. We also ordered brussel sprouts which were supposed to be "crispy" and they were soggy. Thankfully those were taken off the bill when we complained. But it was the meatball thing that really pissed me off. You can get an enormous dish of spaghetti and meatballs in every pizza place across the five boros. Daily focaccia nothing special either. Would not eat here again.
The atmosphere was okay. It was super loud in there. There was a group of young kids in there so loud you would think you were in chucee-cheese idk if they had parental supervision or not cause they just had a big table and they were extremely loud and yelling all the time. Made the experience really bad. The tables were really small and super cramped in there. If you are claustrophobic I do not recommend this place because you will be sitting so close to the other guests that you can hear their conversation. The server was nice and attending us quickly but the food was terrible. We both got pasta with different sauces and they both tasted like velveta Mac and cheese. We BOTH got EXTREME STOMACH PAIN LATER. It even caused my wife to THROW UP in the middle of the highway going back home. Not a good experience. Could’ve been a lot better
Food was way too salty, and mocktails were too sour. When asked, they remade the pasta but still didn't make much difference. My friend couldn't eat at all but the staff was very nice and tried to help. 2 stars goes entirely to the staff and ambiance but I would definitely not trust this place again !
