Opinions de Talon Bar Brooklyn
Very cool vibe! Love the wunderkammer concept behind the bar. Great drinks and very solid beer selection! Good dj too! Great place to chill and jam to some darkwave!
This was my first time visiting Talon Bar and I was there to decorate for a birthday party. The staff was amazing. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Thank you Emily for that special touch with the lights!
Had the Cabinet of Curiosities. Not too sweet even with the honey syrup. Still good without the syrup. Spicy and tart. Pickles were good too. Macabre decor with dried bats and a stuffed crow.
The fried chicken is very good. Drinks are good too. We got mango beers. Also, I like their music taste
Great local spot. First rate microbrews on tap, beautiful outdoor garden. Chill atmosphere with a pool table. Friendly bartenders.
Great service, great food. awesome outside garden. I ordered the wings with some beer and caught up with my friends. Will be going back soon.
Talon has me in its grasp! Marcus and Kitty are the greatest. Great spot for playing pool... especially on Monday nights. Best burgers in the area too!
I went to a fun goth night, had a cucumber margarita mocktail, enjoyed the club vibe downstairs. Convenient to the M train.
Great place for a pint and a game of pool. Also there’s a large back patio with greenery. Also they make food, like a delicious crispy chicken burger and fries! And it’s not expensive!
Amazing! Great vibes, nice drinks, tasty wood!
Love their backyard seating area. Good drinks and friendly service. Great food too!
Interesting decor they have there. One pool table and nice heated backyard. On Saturday DJ was playing. Good service. We had a table for 4 ppl and 4 rounds of shots and beer and some snacks we paid like something around $150 spent there 4 hrs that flew by so fast we didnt even noticed. Nice place to hang out with friends. #localspot #drinkoutside #bushwick
This is a great place to come chill, have a bite and a tasty cocktail. The outdoor area is 👍
Solid spot open early and goes til late. Food it told and has generous portions. Bartenders are friendly. I’ve never had a bad experience here.
One of the best neighborhood bars. Great bartenders & great prices, killing outdoor area. Pickle backs a good pool table & always good people open late. Easy regular choice
Great place to grab a drink and just hang. Music isn't too loud to talk over like most places. The food is also very good. But the best is they have an outdoor seating area that's always open and you can smoke there.
Funky new bar in Bushwick. The decor is so cool and there are little hidden things like the light boxes controlled from the bathroom that showcase rodent skulls or the preserved bats hanging behind the bar. The back patio is spacious and the drink specials are excellent. I hear they will have more food on offer in the future. Definitely worth a visit.
Saw one if the best girl-punching-a-guy fights ever here. Dude was creeping on one of my partners on the dance floor, then his girl found out and decked him. Hilarious. Really good atmosphere. Small dance floor, but nice group of spooky guys, gals, and nb pals.
I love this bar! The owner is really sweet and I often go to the goth night that they host. It’s a comfortable atmosphere with super cool decorations
If you want a drink with a chill vibe and a chance to play the billiards, look no further. Staff is very welcoming and friendly. Moved here recently and this has quickly become my go-to spot.
The burgers are slamming, the people and bartenders are awesome, the drinks(my fav is sloop juice) are top tier.
came with friends tonight and they have a new menu! it's fabulous!!! the oxtail nachos are killer! and the empanda caprese delicious , not to mention the chicken sandwich! can't recommend this place enough. Great bar, sort of cabinet of curiosities.
Favorite bar in the neighborhood. My friends and I go there at least once a week to play pool. Food and drinks are great! Go for the basil vodka lemonade. Haven't had a chance to go to an event yet, but the backyard is an amazing place to chill with friends-super pretty! Definitely recommend!
I met my fiance here for the first time, over 4 yrs ago. It was nice to return to where we first met. They have $1 pool table and their drinks & food were great! We were a group of almost 8 people & the tab was about $480. Mike at the bar and Ashley (I think was her name) were very attentive and friendly. We'll definitely be back soon! ☺
One of the best places in Bushwick to chill, listen to good music, and meet a wide range of people. Literally anybody is welcome and the food is amazing! Great staff and the owners always make an appearance. Highly recommend and they take large parties!!! Never a dull moment! :)
If you’re a lover of taxidermy, creepycute and good music head over to Talon. I went there for Halloween and had a good time. Specialty drinks are delicious and they have a billiards table if you’re interested. I saw they also host daily events - so check their website! Dj was spinning the best. Danced all night!
ignored i was the moment i tried to ask the talented bartender for help; his conversation with a fellow patron was much more important, it seemed. food was good and his drinks were sincerely amazing, the "am talking, can't you see?" situation however, has left so much to the imagination. i live down the street and, never before felt as if i had to compete for attention at an establishment -- never! much less be "the" intruder. lovely place, lovely concept and well, lovely everything. really! management, please, step it up. pay attention! the bartender (front of the house), though talented makes the rest of your team (back of the house) look rather inept. it is not fair.
Such an inspired space! The owners really took their time to create a unique environment that steps outside of the typical bar scene. Great drinks, beautiful menu and awesome service. Hoping to see them around for a long, long time.
Great local bar with an elevated food menu that has been much lacking in the area. Spacious, great staff and an expansive outdoor garden. Competitively priced drinks for the area, but with more options for draft beers then most. Definitely a must visit. Highly recommend the grilled cheese.
Went here for a boutique dining experience they hosted and was blown away by both the meal and the atmosphere. Innovative space that also stays true to the neighborhood’s roots. Props to Chef Malo, will be back for sure.
Went back 10 years after it opened still good service, great bar tenders, excellent custim cocktails very well priced, great beer selection and bar food. The garden is spectacular fully grown in. Nice to see bars like this survive
Cool bar. Fun comedy showon Thursday too!!
Your usual fun bar with the exception the bartenders are all amazing from Brian to the Greek man or the beauty with tats and red hair. Great people great vibes! Memorable nights !! Try it out 💁🏻♀️Drinks are also great affordable and the bartenders know their stuff!
The food is so good. The drinks are cheap, there’s always a chill vibe. Crowd can be a little young and in that vein sometimes annoying but it’s a nice place to hang out and they have heaters in their back patio for the winter months!!
Great heated backyard and even greater staff. Its table service so you have to get there before all the tables are taken. The Food!! OMG! Mac and cheese with chicken (muah) Delicious! But they have other foods like burgers and such. Definitely check it out if your close by
Shawn is the best. Alejandro,Jesus and Luis great people. First time here great vibe love the outdoor seating. Ive heard great things and yup all true! Def. recommend and def. the bloody mary but the #1 drink is Sueño en Primavera!!! I know i had a steak burger that wasnt on the menu! Def. Need to be on the menu! Coming back for sure! 😎
Nothing in particular rating; it's more the overall vibe. Somehow greater than the sum of its parts.
Great vibes here. They have a basement with a second bar and a nice cozy backyard. Bartenders are great and quick. Love the decor and all the taxidermy bats. Highly recommend.
Never ordered food here. Strictly come here for the Goth/Post-Punk nights. The patio is kept warm during the winter months. It's a mixture of both locals and bar hopping visitors. Good times.
Excellent space to throw an event downstairs, food is very affordable - get the chicken burger!
This place was great! I came for a private birthday party that was downstairs, and I'm really glad I got to see it. The music was great, the vibe was great, the food was inexpensive, though low on options. It's a really special space and I can't wait to go back because it seems like they have some really exciting events.
Loved it here. Got an amazing cocktail, not too pricey. Chicken sandwich is fireeee and only $10!!
Love this place! Thursday's they do a comedy show + open mic and its so much fun :) it's called Slander Factory and its hella funny. I like to stick around and see all the up and coming comedians crush it.
The cury red head might be making the best espresso martini, this side of NY. Great bar, and would you believe it? They carried a sour beer too... Let me smoke on the deck... Outstanding experience.
Very chill watering hole in Bushwick. Good vibe and drinks were served quickly, albeit a little light on the booze. Great spot to chat and play pool.
First time I went to this bar. Great bartender. Second time. Not so great bartender. But it's a cool bar to go with coworkers or friends and meet new interesting people 😉
Nice goth bar with very morbid, fun ambiance. The music was a little loud for my taste, but drinks were reasonably priced and quite tasty!
This is the spot to go around Myrtle/Wyckoff while COVID-19 is around; they have a massive and actually nice outdoor seating area. They also have actual good food, I used to stop in here for a drink and tapas after work before the pandemic. Their kitchen's on point.
Staff is really nice and the backyard is great, especially since they allow dogs back there. Unfortunately, the loud thrash metal the bartender favors, and the bird skeletons and other macabre decorations, don't make it a place I wanna spend a lot of time in.
Great place to play pool love their Long Island Iced Tea and outdoor area. The rest of the cocktails need improvement I had a Lemonade cocktail that was weak and simple, fortunately the bartender added a extra shot.
Great drinks, absolutely stunning interior. Did I mention the beautiful garden???? I'm returning to try out the memu. I'll be back!! BTW I live all the way in Washington Heights. Very easy to get there. 3 blocks from the train! QB
Beautiful patio. Pool for a dollar per game. They have Karaoke on Wednesdays. There are many regulars that have been going for a while. Best goth night in Bushwick in my opinion. Every summon party is a shelter for alternative goths and they welcome newcomers.
Not bad but also nothing special. I ordered the burger medium well, it had good flavor but it was dry and well done. From other reviews I think the food used to be cheaper but certainly not anymore. Idk if it’s worth it.
The biggest plus to Talon Bar is the space itself, with ample patio space and a separate downstairs area that hides a separate bar and dancefloor. The biggest negative historically is...on busy nights it can take forever to get a drink. There are many times when I would have ordered more, but instead gave up on waiting for service. A cool bar that represents the chang(ed) demographics of the neighborhood, nestled in between some of the area's original Latin American remnants.
I feel like I always end up here. They have a pretty good beer selection, but not the best. I usually opt for the cocktails but then make some modifications cause I'm not crazy about any of them. They do have a food menu, I've only ever gotten the fries which are soooo good I would HIGHLY recommend the curry ketchup. Honestly the only thing I don't like about this place is how loud the music is, it's not really a dancey bar so it feels unnecessary to have it be so loud. This is less of a problem in the warmer weather because there's a large outdoor area though.
Awesome vibe had great time table action is top tier very chill & respectful bar staff & karaoke night is always a blast
This is an odd establishment with a lot of oddities around. It's a dive bar and the prices are good. When I was there on a Friday night, the place started to fill with gothic people because there seemed to be a party of some sort that happens maybe regularly for that? A fog machine was there and a DJ.
Food expensive and protions little and beers hot as well also bartenders to buzzy socially with friends that is was like a bother to ask for a drink
Got 18 wings and fries to-go, medium heat. I'm sure lots of people like the flavor, but it was not for me. (Everyone I shared them with said the same thing.) There were these little pepper slivers in the sauce that were kinda frustrating to eat; they just stuck out and didn't want to leave my mouth 😩 the bar is BEAUTIFUL tho !!
The staff is lazy for sure. The music is whatever . Even the sound is whatever ., up and down. Not my style . The table we sit was nice though.
Got our drinks but with attitude
I hadn’t been to this spot in ages, but met up with some friends here for Svmmon. The dj upstairs was absolutely great, and played a wide range of music, which was awesome! The food we ordered was also delightful, and their food servers are very kind and attentive, but good god are the bartenders rude!!! They guy bartender all but openly rolled his eyes at me, and was incredibly impatient. I get it, buddy, I work a service job too, and also had a long day at work but I literally just got here and didn’t do anything to you. The vodka lemonade also wasn’t good enough to justify the pithy attitude. It’s a vodka lemonade, guys. As I peruse the reviews, I see that I am not the only person to have this experience, and that this has been an issue going back several months. I can’t help but wonder: are they trying to make it a gimmick? Ed Debevic’s, I love your work!
My friends and I came here last weekend to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The bar was cool and the heated outdoor space was also great. However the service was bad enough to ruin the experience. One of the bartenders was so incredibly rude and dismissive to everyone throughout the night. When I first ordered two cocktails he rolled his eyes and scoffed and then proceeded to angrily make the drinks. Everyone in our group had a negative experience with this bartender. A few friends tried to order drinks and he ignored them until they finally gave up. One of my friends didn’t bother getting a drink because of how rude and unpleasant the bartender was to interact with. It’s sad because the space is cool and easy to get to, but I wouldn’t go back to a place with such horrible, rude service.
The vibe and atmosphere is chill and comfortable except for one of the bartender who was rude from the start, with a whole attitude towards me and my friends I would recommend to go but sadly I did not enjoy it due to poor customer service. Definitely will go again if the customer service can be a bit nicer.
Harrased over a tip I gave at the bar. By the manager and the bartender. My bill was 40 bucks at the bar and I tipped 6 dollars. Roughly 15 percent of that is 6 dollars , so why in the middle of the dance floor I was pulled to the side about it. Are they serious. First place I've ever been too that if they are not happy of your tip you gave at a bar they will pull you to the side about it. Just so you know I didn't dine in or had any food just at the bar.
I want to give this place no less than two stars just because the beautiful and lovely lady that was first in the bar was delightful and attentive - but I am offended now, so here a single star. I came to this place from great reference from a few friends of mine and some neighbors. All went great until this man - named Bryan1 on my receipt - switching the shift with the nice lady who greeted me before at the bar when I came in. I asked him for a beer, and then I accidentally said a word in Spanish (my native language). Then this random policeman (who seem to know him well, is a regular or his friend) - that just stepped in a few minutes ago started saying some racist comment about me saying a word in Spanish and Bryan follow the man comment with a positive tone and the policeman continued his rude comments. Whatever! Fine! I finished my beer and asked to close my tap, and the rude police man got up from his chair to over look my receipt and babble. I told the bartender that his "friend" is rude and that I dont apreciate that. He didnt even apologise. For an hour I was having a really good time on my own - eating a nice brunch and fresh mimosas - until they pissed me off. - Is that how you gain your tips... accepting rude attitudes from your friends or other customers towars other customers? , Oh I see, is because he is a police man and he is entitler to. Thanks but not thanks! I never have an awful experience like this before. I usually go to new restaurants/bars on my own and expend 2-3 hours that easily turn to over $80 dollars and leave 22% on tips. But this dude can ask his "friend" to tip him because from me his not getting any. Terrible last impresion! Btw, I asked him to ask in the kitchen what cheese selection they have for the meat & cheese plate, said he would ask but never did. Meh!
Was extremely disappointed to go to an event here and had the cops be called. There is no room for calling the police at a supposedly queer-friendly establishment. It’s not right to throw trans dj nights and respond to any situation like this.
This bar is not as cool as it thinks it is. The drinks are nothing special, and the bartenders are comically rude.
Racist and combative bartenders named Mark and Eric. Don't go here if you are black, they will treat you poorly. Had a truly awful experience on April 2nd, completely unprovoked. Made our drinks wrong, and then threw a fit when we asked for our money back. Save yourself the time and effort, there are places you can get overpriced drinks without the microaggresions on the side.
very very poor service! I kept trying to put my order in and as im talking to the bartender to put my order he kept walking away and insisting I give him my card and I repeated 3 times I am not done with my order and I still gave him my card, as soon as he was done swiping he just walked away and I had to wait another 15 to 20 minutes to finish putting my order so my food all came out about 20 to 30 minutes apart. I did notice that as white people were ordering they will be extra friendly and actually make conversation and when anyone else that isn't white is trying to order they are just ignored or talked to rudely. Will NEVER visit again and will definitely not recommend this place!
I know that it’s really difficult to find staff in hospitality right now but my bartender just won the award for the most pathetic, rude and sad person ever. Very unfortunate because this place has potential to be a nice local hangout bar, but I just felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome there that I would rather walk an extra block or two and be treated with respect.
My friend and I were really looking forward to trying this place out. However from the moment we stepped foot in there it was terrible customer service. We asked for a table for two the bartender told us we can sit anywhere but FAILED to tell us we had to order at the bar. We took a seat outside and waited for 15 mins ( as the bartender seen us sitting ) it wasn’t until my friend had to ask another man dining where did he have to order. We went back to the bar asked the bartender who was clearly uninterested in any questions we had where was the menu and he told us “we can look it up online “. At this point we didn’t even bothered and walked right out. Trash customer service. Never going back never recommending
So my friend got kicked out of the bar after not tipping on my card and another person’s card. He didn’t feel comfortable spending extra money on someone else’s card but when he was buying his round he was ready to tip. The bar policy is after 3 services no tip no service which is weird to me but I digress. He got 2 rounds, on the 3rd he was ready to tip because it was his own card but he was denied service then kicked out. The bartender kept saying it was his 3rd round when it absolutely wasn’t, sounded very much like he wasn’t paying attention or all black people look alike. The claim is that he had too much to drink, yet he was calm enough to stop arguing, walk to another bartender, buy the drinks and give that bartender the 30% tip he planned on giving the original bartender. Then the original bartender called security.
My friends threw an event there in the downstairs area the other night. Upon entering, two of my friends suggested taking shots and both offered their cards for the first two rounds. As they weren’t my cards, I didn’t tip the bartender and, on the second round, he became very sarcastic and disrespectful. When my turn to get the shots approached, I had full intention on tipping him out, but he immediately denied me service (rudely, at that), stating there was a “Three Strike” policy, in which I hadn’t yet violated (as this was my third turn.) I explained the situation, but he continued to be disrespectful, and eventually my friends got involved. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, I approached the bar upstairs, ordered my shots, and tipped the bartender double the recommended amount. Heading back down, I handed them the shots, and showed the bartender that I had full intention on tipping him, even getting my friends to stop arguing with him. He then called security to escort me out, to which I complied without much fuss. I was not drunk - as my friend has already written a review in which your response tried to defame my character. If there is a problem, I have no problem showing up in person again to have a conversation, but I also have testimony that that was not that bartender’s first offense that night, as he tried to provoke one of my friends who was renting out the space for said event.
We walked in to have a drink and celebrate a promotion at work. No one greeted us when we walked in, bar tenders didn't even look at us. After waiting a moment, we assumed to seat ourselves. The garden area didn't have a good vibe, people being obnoxious drunk on a Tuesday. We went to the sidewalk seating where people were yelling and banging tables. Over terrible impression and won't be back.
Cocktails were absolutely rancid and bartender barely acknowledged us when we asked for water. Do not come!!!
First time at this bar and bartender with dreads hospitality should be rated a -10. Trying to get his attention but to busy talking to “customers”then finally when my fiancé gets his attention he tells him “he had us until we mentioned margaritas” and to go to the other bartender who is now paying attention to people who showed up after us. Not to mention this places wasn’t busy at all….Even if your getting off of work that should of been said from the beginning we are understanding people and also locals for the last 25 years in this neighborhood who wanted to come and enjoy the neighborhood bar. Will never be returning again ever :)
Extremely rude bartender. i’m not one to leave reviews but this person ruined our mood. Not at all a busy evening, yet she kept us waiting for ages. Literally barked when taking our order. while also being extremely friendly with — dare i mention - the white patrons. the audacity of y’all to come into poc neighborhoods and throw around your attitude smh
Bartender is great, but impossible to effectively serve 150 people. I went to the bar twice to get a drink and gave up after 30 min waiting. All my party of 11 colleagues left for the same reason. Never going back. This place needs better management.
Me and my friend got there and was not greeted at all. We sat and did not receive service. After 10 minutes my friend and I figured we had to order at the bar. Without even making eye contact, the bartender just asked for ID and Vaccination card and was very rude. We got our drinks sat and left. No greeting, no instructions on how to order, ZERO service. Yea I won’t recommend to minorities.
Disrespectful bartending staff, overpriced mediocre drinks, unchecked outdoor space open to the public. So strangers and homeless people can just approach and panhandle. Was there for 3+ hours and didn’t have any of the wait staff check up, check my vac status, or just ensure everything was fine until the check. Bars in Bushwick don’t get much worse than this place. Nice if you’re looking for a dive bar or a hole in the wall to just chill, but there’s way too many other bars within a two block radius to settle for this one.
The place looks good, but the people kind racist. Also the woman bartender had a terrible attitude and were looking at me like " just leave bro this is a place for americans only". The guy bartender was cool, fun, and had education. I will never go to this place again. The energy felt like I don't deserve to be here. Be humble bro.
Service from staff was great, the bar itself, would come back too. Comedy show in the basement on thursdays however, please stay away - horrible. One person, Gabby was just rude and mean. And the host choses the line up and seems like he has zero experience.
Came here to be entertained and the uhhhh wrong stuff was said. And by wrong I just mean not funny and not entertaining. The comedy show, Thursday, was a bummer. The host can’t be blamed for the comics but the host choosing a bunch of mid whites and rude unkind jokes about others looks is wild. The host himself is a miss as well. I love shows in the neighborhood but will personally avoid a line up with that guy on it. I’m sure I’ll be back around talon bar and can update my review when I come back and bummer is happening in the basement . So anyway, avoid the show and the host here.
so let me preface this with i work in the industry. the service was beyond terrible because i didn’t get served! i waited, patiently, seated at the bar for 30 minutes to get myself a glass of wine. they were super busy so i thought to myself like its fine, i don’t mind waiting, ill be polite. then i just watched them literally serve everyone else around me besides me, and the thing they all had in common was that they were white! the bartenders took multiple rounds of shots together with the bar back while i literally hadn’t gotten served once. it was one thing, the first round of shots they had together but after 15 minutes passed and i still had not been served and then they did another round of shots in front of me, i was like you have got to be kidding me. it wasn’t until my white guy friend came up to the bar and ordered for me that i was finally able to get a drink. so heres a psa, stop gentrifying these neighborhoods, hiring white bartenders, filling the bars with other gentrifiers, and then denying poc service and treating them like they’re invisible!! thanks!!
I was served raw chicken. Custom service was awful. Everyone is very rude and careless. Also the patio clearly has a rat infestation. There are huge rats running and climbing around everywhere. Super gross.
If I had the chance to give this service a zero I would. The bartender was really rude to customers and complaining about people. He was rude to all customers throughout his shift. Ended up going to another bar with my husband because I did not want to hear this man giving people nasty attitudes and making comments.
Unfortunately the customer service deserves 1 star. There is no interest in the customer. The place overall looks good but the people working here are destroying it.
Both bartenders were very passive aggressive when it came to serving our group, which were all people of color. We tried to kindly place our order and it took multiple tries to get their attention, meanwhile the bar was not packed at all for a rainy Thursday night. But when it came to serving a certain demographic there was an immediate change in customer service. Maybe it’s due to the high gentrification occurring in the area that they only cater towards each other, but it seems they have no respect for the melting pot of culture that Bushwick is built on.
Actual service & bar staff were great but I just have to let you know the comedy show was abysmal - idk if it was an off night but .. yikes. Don't know if the theme was meanness because it's called "slander factory" but - the woman Gabby was just..mean. The host can't seem to pick 'em - maybe he's new to the scene in bushwick but there's enough mid white people in NYC in general and Bushwick these days is over flowing. Anyway sure I'll be back for the bar but I hope never to see this lineup again - except for the one guy I got a pic of - he was the best.
The bartender over there is racist and rude. Coming in, we had 10 people. There were 2 other customers in there. The bartender would not serve us and kept going to the other customers until we had to keep asking for his service, blatantly ignoring us. When one of my friends addressed the issue, the bartender said you’re not getting a drink now. I find this heartbreaking as I’ve been here before and this treatment was truly disgusting and disrespectful. It’s saddening to see this as I loved this bar but you definitely won’t be hearing from me again! I am so saddened.
Horrible service from the bartender/host, the 3 drinks made were so bad stick to beers here and honestly I noticed the only people he paid attention to were his friends not the business or customers. I felt so uncomfortable I had to get up and leave ended up in a sushi bar near by. Prices are reasonable but drink price to size and quality of drinks don’t match. I will say the Scenery was really nice with plants all around but I Do not recommend this place!
