Opinions de Underhill Brooklyn
The aesthetic is beautiful, very clean and amazing service. I love the chicken lemonato with chicken postatoes. I 100% recommend this restaurant!!
This unassuming restaurant serves some of the best Greek food in Brooklyn. The staff is also incredibly kind and the environment is welcoming. I'd definitely recommend swinging by to try the lamb burger or the the hummus. Two of my favorites!
Unarguably the best lamb doner I’ve eaten in NYC. Lovely host!
Best Gyro I’ve ever had, owner was the nicest guy, free baklava
I stopped by this establishment today on the way home from work. They have the best the tastiest lamb gyro I ever had. My wife and I were extremely happy with our food!! 5 STARS!!
This place isn’t 5 stars, it’s 15 stars. Best meal we’ve had in a long long time. Get the octopus, ribs, and lamb burger. Service was also spectacular. Small space but we didn’t wait on a Friday night in December.
Uber eats had a buy one get one promotion and I wanted greek food. Have to say the falafel is some of the best I have ever had, when you bite into them and see the center they aren’t just packed full of chickpea and wow they reqlly taste fresh. Delicious! The tzatziki isn’t watery thin garbage, is has a thick consistency like sour cream and is packed with flavor. I’m very happy with the food. Will order from them again.
Everything tasted great. Go here and see order what looks good. You’ll be happy you did.
We arrived about 1045pm on a Fri. after arriving from Arizona at our Airbnb. We started w/their 4 dips w/pita bread then, moved on to a lamb burger w/fries and pizza along w/the roasted Brussel sprouts. It was all outstanding but, the brussels were to die for!!! The folks there were very friendly and accommodating!! Oh, as we were standing out front deciding whether to eat there or not a number of policemen passing by said it was the place to try!! We would highly recommend this restaurant!!👍👍👍👍👍
A gem!!! So fresh and delicious every time. The staff is really friendly and the portions are generous. Highly endorse!
Underhill Brooklyn is a such an great new spot in Brooklyn! With great tasting authentic Greek food, fun upbeat Greek music and a friendly staff, this place is sure to be a hit. I had the kale salad which was tasty and fresh and the spanakopita which was homemade and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a taste of Greece in Brooklyn.
The food here is awesome, we went just to grab and drink and a quick bite and ended up feasting. The ribs are fall off the bone and taste very good with the sauce. Its definitely worth trying
really great food and amazing service! will be coming back
Super cute spot with amazing food. Did not disappoint. Probably best tzatziki I’ve ever had.
Really surprised by how great the food is here. It’s an understated bar with mouthwatering hummus and pitas. Affordable to boot! I’ll be making this place a frequent stop for dinner.
Excellent, authentic Greek food. Absolutely loved the food and the host was very welcoming and friendly.
Incredible food!! We got and enjoyed the Dakos Cretan salad, the feta in sesame + honey, the shrimp saganaki, the zucchini croquettes (our fave!!), and the eggplant dip. Everything was so fresh and perfectly prepared, and the staff was very sweet and brought us coconut baklava at the end. Excited to come back. A very chill neighborhood place
This place is such a hidden gem! Amazing Greek food and really great prices. The lamb burger and the spanikopita - both yummy. Nice atmosphere and friendly service too. They even gave us free baklava with our meal. What a treat, we will be back.
serious announcement: moussaka + lemon potatoes + fresh pita and dips + grilled chicken are divine! this neighborhood spot is owned and ran by a great family and has all the things i love. it's cozy and cute, TVs for the game, beers on tap with a serious restaurant menu you won't regret. during these social distancing times, they also have a takeout window that is safe and accessible. order from here now and support local. be well, everyone! x
I had the pork ribs and they were literally falling off the bone delicious! Came with a group of friends and everyone loved their food. Especially the lamb burgers and spanakopita. The service was excellent and everyone is so sweet. Family run place and super clean. Can't wait to come back!
fantastic food and staff was so friendly! would come back for sure. I want to try the whole menu.
HIGHLY reccommended. The food is excellent. The all-day breakfast menu is very nice. The food is the kind of "just right" sort of perfect food. Looks good, tastes good. I savored each bite. The atmosphere is relaxed/casual but with a simple sort of refinement. The tall windows open to create a lovely breeze in. Plus, there's outdoor seating (at least, in the summer). Especially nice when the street is blocked off to car traffic mon-fri, 8am-8pm. Quiet, peaceful area, just a block away from the shops on Vanderbilt. Not too far from Atlantic Mall and Barclays Center too. Plenty of trees and greenery lining the streets around here. Service was simple, casual, polite, and subtle. It's not just a restaurant, it's a lovely, peaceful experience.
So delicious! And great service. Burger was amazing and best sweet potato fries ever.
First good burger I had in NYC in 2 years! Totally recommend 💯
This is the best value in the entire neighborhood with a very wide variety. Everything is great here: classic greek dishes that feature octopus and shrimp to their burgers. You can’t go wrong here, and they have a very good beer/wine list
Food was good with nice size portions. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would go back again. Cute neighborhood eating spot
Holy moly!! The lamb burger is everything I could want it to be and more. The fantastic twist with the cheese was an amazing surprise. I've been living in this neighborhood for way to long without ever trying this place. I will most certainly be back! We could feel the love and care in all the preparation and even the delivery service. See you soon Underhill Eatery!
Underhill Greek Eatery is a local go-to for my wife and me. Great food every time. We're both big fans of the moussaka. The soups and apps are excellent, too. Very pleased to have this restaurant in the neighborhood!
Really delicious dishes, great value, and big portions! Loved the spanakopita, falafel, grilled halloumi, and greek salad! The free order of baklava was super yummy as well.
Very pleasant spot , owner hands on service, love it
This place is so, so good! I dropped in this evening with my partner for dinner and Nicole behind the bar was very personable and had great recommendations. The ambiance is so cute with nice lighting and great greek music. We ate at the bar, but there was a good amount of seating. It was surprisingly full for a Tuesday night! (good sign) The menu had an appropriate amount of options, including some vegetarian-friendly ones. Grape leaves were the bomb dot com. I loved the Chicken Bifteki, which was essentially a chicken burger patty served with salad, tzatziki, fries, and warm pita. The burger had really nice grill marks on it and almost tasted like it was cooked on a wood fire. My partner got the halloumi platter which was served with essentially the same things but had cheese in lieu of the chicken patty. It was also delicious. To end it all, we had baklava. It was perfectly sweetened, great layering, and just the right amount of rosewater so it didn't overwhelm or overpower. Despite all the options this area of Brooklyn has to offer, we will definitely come back and eat here again.
Been here several times since they've opened, since I live down the street. The food is excellent! The atmosphere is great for any occasion be it dinner with friends, a quick bite and a beer at the bar, or date night. The kitchen takes Greek staples and gives them a fresh, modern twist that compliments it very well. The fried cheese with honey is one of my favorite apps along with the octopus. Mains you can't go wrong with the pork ribs, souvlaki, or the shrimp saganaki. If you live in the neighborhood or close by you certainly need to try it! They also just started doing brunch as well.
Just ate here, the lamb was amazing, full of flavor! Got the lamb gyro platter tasted so good! My friend got the lamb burger and it was just as good if not better! Will definitely be back.
Great food, good energy, will definitely return soon.
Recommended. Home feeling, incredible food and great value for money 🤍 it’s a hidden gem 💎
This is our go to brunch spot. The food is fantastic and the service is great! 12/10 recommend.
My husband and I found this place a month ago and have already been back many times! The food here is so good - fresh and flavorful. The menu is great - try the dips (eggplant, tzaziki and tomato feta!), lamb keftedes, Greek salad and salmon. The slouvaki is also a solid staple. Hope this place is here for many more meals to come!
We live in the neighborhood and had been meaning to try Underhill Cafe for so long (everyone says such good things)! We finally got around to it yesterday and I’m so glad we did. The owner is an absolute gem (so kind!) and the food is great. I had the falafel platter (that dill sauce is unreal) and we shared a caesar salad (also great). The baklava at the end is really such a sweet (and delicious) touch. More than anything, the vibes are just right - relaxed, warm, and makes you feel at home. We’ll be back!
Hidden gem in the neighborhood. Good food, great service, cute corner, nice outdoor seating. Reasonably priced. Easy going. Have a glass of wine and open your laptop to work if needed, or just people watch and bring your dog. Will definitely be back!
We shared the gyro platter with French fries. It's big enough for two to have a light lunch. The pita bread was fresh and amazing. The owner was so kind and gave us complimentary baklava since it was our first visit. Also yum! We'll be back. Great neighborhood place.
The best Greek restaurant in Brooklyn. I am particularly lucky to have them around the corner from me. I used to live near Taverna Kyclades and adored their food, but it has gone downhill. I no longer have to travel for excellent food! Don’t sleep on the rib eye. Insanely good, and reasonably priced. Great service- attentive but not overbearing.
Gorgeous restaurant with dark wood and huge windows, amazing food, and absolutely S tier service. The owner and our server had great recommendations about the menu and were so friendly. Food is a mix of Greek and American diner vibes which is awesome. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!
Tasty food and fair prices. I love the chicken souvlaki sandwich for lunch. The owner and staff are lovely. So friendly and welcoming. I also like outdoor seating and plants.
One of our favorite brunch spots and its always plus theyre always super friendly.
Came at off hours on a Sunday. Was welcomed with open arms and shown to a wonderful window table. Owner was very friendly, made some great suggestions, and then served us freshly made authentic food. Try the Greek yogurt. Absolutely amazing!
Such a friendly place! And the food was great. Get the Spanakopita for sure–it was delicious. Great neighborhood spot to hang out at.
Charming Greek spot with a familiar face from downtown Brooklyn’s (now closed) Apollo diner. Delicious food, chill vibes! Go for the tzatziki, stay for the gyro!
Great food at a great price. The staff is super attentive and friendly.
Seafood salad didn't taste fresh 🫤 Otherwise food tastes great
The best Greek restaurant that I have been, the food is amazing and fresh!!! And also the attention, they are so nice. And they have free nice baklava for dessert and it’s free!!!!!
What a great experience! Had dinner there the other night and food was fantastic. We had the spanakopita, pastichio, and pork souvlaki. Ended with unexpected baklava, which was out of this world! Very clean, service was excellent and the owner was very nice and friendly. Looking forward to our next meal at Underhill Cafe!
Quite possibly the best gyro I have ever had, amazing ceasar salad and absolutely perfectly crispy and delicious calamari. Also very nice and attentive service with nice outfoor seating on a beautiful block. I can’t recommend this place enough!
I came back from Greece the other week and was craving Greek food so decided to check this place out. I honestly could not taste the difference from here and the food in Athens, same quality couldn’t event tell you the difference, authentic as can be. Owner is also extremely nice.
Great simple breakfast with friendly staff. Kid friendly.
Lovely restaurant on a lovely block. Wonderful owner. Definitely recommend anyone in the area to stop by.
Food was really, really good. Four of us came and we were impressed with everything we ordered. Owner/manager is an incredibly charismatic, kind and welcoming host. We will be back!
Came in here randomly one day for lunch and i walked away with a new fav in the area!! The owner is usually there and is so so so kind. I keep it simple with the Prasini salad and it’s SO fresh and good. That salad comes with pita, so I order a side of the tzatziki sauce to dip. Nothing but good things to say about this place ! I usually come alone with a book and it’s 10/10.
We had lunchtime there, and it was really good. the service is great. The waiter was very kind to adapt some options to my wife diet. We order a portobello burger, sweet fried potatoes, and a meat burger. Everything was perfect and quick service. If you like coffee, you should order. It was pretty good also.
Loved it here! We came on valentine's day for the Prix Fixe menu which was $50 pp and we got 3 courses each and a bottle of pinot grigio. Bargain! Intimate seating area with a bar. The food was INCREDIBLE. We will definitely return. Authentic Greek feel, with an American twist to some dishes. Lamb shank was so tender I can't wait to return. The owner Lisa came over to us at the end of the meal and introduced herself which was really nice too - we look forward to coming back very soon.
Wonderful vibes, it felt like home, delicious food, and great customer service. Also, Best spanakopita in NYC.
For our Sunday lunch, we were seated quickly and our order arrived promptly. They had good vegetarian options on the menu, and the service was excellent. We especially appreciated the complimentary baklava at the end of our meal.
Highly recommend 👌 The spreads trio was great. I couldn't finish it with the pita they served, but I certainly finished it with my fries 😋 The Beef Bifteki amazed me! And everything was portioned perfectly. Please please support this wonderful place!
I absolutely adore this restaurant!! I have eaten here several times and it’s incredible every time. I have tried a variety of items on the menu and have savored every bite. The atmosphere is so cozy and homey, creating a very relaxing dining experience. It is lovely in the summer as well with the outdoor seating on a nice day. The owner is truly one of the kindest people I’ve met and is always smiling and ensuring that your experience is nothing less than stellar. We’ve even gotten baklava on the house a couple of times at the end of our meals! One of my hands down favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. Highly highly recommend!
Best Greek food I’ve had in Brooklyn by far, with the best service. Isidoros, the owner, makes you feel right at home. The Greek salad was phenomenal, very fresh with the best pita. Can’t wait to come back to try more
Our favorite neighborhood spot. The friendliest owner & service. Fresh grilled food that always hits. Love the chicken souvlaki, falafel, and dips!
A small, neighborhood diner with really excellent Greek food. Very fresh Greek salad, delicious spinakopita with flaky wrap around crust. If I lived here I would dine here often!
Their menu impressed me, the service was prompt, and the team was welcoming. Staff members combined friendliness with helpfulness. Every plate delivers excellent taste and noticeable freshness. This spot isn't big but maintains cleanliness and a city feel. The team at this place is efficient.
Underhill Café is an absolute gem! I had one of the juiciest burgers I’ve ever tasted — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. But what really surprised me was the avgolemono soup… honestly, it was better than homemade! Creamy, tangy, and comforting — just like something straight out of a Greek kitchen. The staff was friendly, the place cozy, and everything came out fresh. Definitely my new go-to spot!
A very cozy Greek spot. The food is great, and the owner is a very nice and funny guy. We got some free baklava for dessert, and the falafel here is the best I've ever tasted.
Great brunch options with lovely al fresco seating! We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit here! The menu has something for everyone and I love that their brunch options come with coffee or tea + a brunch beverage (e.g., mimosa/bellini/sangria). We knew before even ordering that we’d be coming back again for dinner as there are so many dishes we want to try! We enjoyed all of the following: - Saganaki (The star of the show! Incredible, a must-try!) - Lumberjack Breakfast with eggs over easy and sausage (sausage was only ok) - Greek salad - Eggs Benedict with prosciutto A special thanks to Laura who took care of us, was so kind and attentive, and gave great recommendations!
We enjoyed a delicious brunch here and this will certainly become one of our favorite local restaurants. We ordered the pork souvlaki platter and a special Chicken and potatoes. Both were hearty and flavorful, and reminded us of our time in Greece. They also offer Mythos beer, which was a pleasant surprise. Affordable pricing for the quality and quantity, and excellent service.
What a charming Greek spot! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, opting for the **Gyro platter** and the **Grilled Salmon**, both of which were wonderfully fresh and wholesome. Beyond the delicious food, the restaurant had truly lovely vibes. To top it all off, they even gave us complimentary Baklava, which was such a delightful touch. Highly recommend!
Delivery came very quick. Ive been here a couple of times before and know the food is good. The spanakopita is outstanding. The lemon chicken is a large portion and delicious too. One recommendation is to ask them to wrap the container with the lemon chicken in foil or use a tighter container because most of the juices/sauce spilled out into the bag. They gave us 1 free baklava dessert which was nice and thanked us for the order. Great place!
i ordered delivery and got the lamb burger bc it had such rave reviews on here! it was tasty, the crispy cheese is so yummy, the pickles, dressing, onions- all together it was so complimentary and delicious. 4 stars only bc while it was delicious, i felt my burger was just a bit overcooked. other than that, it’s a thumbs up from me! oh! and they included a complimentary dessert that was tasty as well.
Always a great choice! The food is delicious, and the attentive staff makes every meal enjoyable.
Enjoyed the decker chicken sandwich. Very well done. I had additional small salad...a bit poor. I did notice a few items on the menu were a bit pricey.
Quick delivery. Solid food. Chicken was good but they forgot my tzatiki sauce which I really wanted and fries were a bit cold and soggy but that was due to distance can't really fault them. All in all solid and extra dessert was real nice.
Excellent food. Underhill pizza is delicious. Mushrooms, bacon, peppers, pesto - layers of flavor! Beets with feta very good. Zucchini cheese balls were very creamy and delicious. Excellent meal.
I next to never leave reviews, and outside of a large collection of things in my $150+ order being delicious, this chicken entree we received was rediculous and shameful. I work in this city as a chef and have nothing but empathy for restaurants and their operators, but this portion size for an entree is embarrassing and unexcusable, please do better.
We had the soup special and the soup completely lacked flavor. The meatball dish was also meh it drowned in tomato sauce and felt very heavy. The dishes took a while to come out and the general vibe at the restaurant seemed like the waitresses were having hard time keeping up with the orders. I love greek food but I probably won’t go here again.
UPDATE June 2021: I was so excited to get to actually eat at Underhill after enjoying their delivery food through Covid, but I have to say I was shocked to dine in and find the lamb burger was overcooked and dry, the fries seem to have changed, everything was just a bit bland etc. I’m not sure if there’s a new chef or just a very off night but it was super disappointing. My original review is below, so I am only writing this in the hopes someone at Underhill takes it to heart, as I know it’s such a great spot. 2020: If you love Greek food, don’t miss this place! We have only had their delivery but it always comes quickly and the food is delicious. You HAVE to get the lamb burger — non negotiable. It is so good with crispy cheese on the bottom. Mmm. The spanikopita was a bit soggy but flavor is great. We love this spot.
We were disappointed because we were excited to order more then that wanting support the community. But the food was mediocre at best. Ordered: the grill salmon + the gyro platter w/salad. I must say the customer service was top notch which let's face it --really just Google. Even still the food ---could have been from anywhere there was nothing authentically Greek about it not the lamb, salmon, hummus, or tzatziki sauce. Sad faced because I absolutely love Greek food. But we didn't get it here.
I chose the lamb burger because it had onions and garlic aioli. It came out too hot to eat, even as the fries were getting cold. As it cooled down, it was unfortunately no more appetizing than it looked. It was dry and salty. I don't know lamb enough to know if it was overcooked, but then I remembered the aioli. I had specifically ordered it for the garlic aioli, and I couldn't find it. I asked the waitress, whose kind demeanor was the only nice part of the meal. She checked with the kitchen. They didn't have the aioli, so they had just left it off without saying anything. The check came - they charged me $23.50 for an incomplete burger that wasn't tasty enough to finish. Then after I left the tip, they snuck on an additional 3% credit card fee.
We were very excited to try this place. However, one of the staff—a older man was very rude. My 2 year old was playing with his fork at the table and he came and grabbed his hand and disciplined my son, telling him not to do that. Please do not discipline someone else’s kid and keep your hands to yourself. If you have a problem with my son tell me about your issue,,but do not touch my 2 year old and grab his hand, that is not your place and it is not professional. It ruined our time there and we asked for the check and left immediately. The atmosphere was not welcoming.
I rarely leave reviews, but my family and I had such a disappointing experience at Underhill Cafe that I felt it was important to share. From the moment we arrived, no one acknowledged us no greeting, no welcome, nothing. We patiently waited to be seated, only to watch multiple parties who came in after us get seated and served right away. It was disheartening and honestly infuriating to be treated as if we were invisible. We ultimately decided to leave and take our business elsewhere. I can’t say for certain if this was discriminatory, but it felt that way especially seeing white customers arrive later and receive immediate service. No one should have to question whether they’re being treated differently because of who they are. Do better.
