Opinions de Gus's Fried Chicken Burbank
The Reviews are correct, this is one of the best Spicy Fried Chicken experience here in LA👌🏼 The Chicken is fully cooked tender, moist and juicy inside while the outside is super crispy. Very satisfyingly delicious. I will definitely come back again.
Fried okra is fresh and crispy. Fried green tomatoes transported me back to childhood in Texas. Fried chicken was legendary. The sides tasted good but I was too full to eat much of them. Go hungry and prepare to hurt yourself.
A day ago my family and I went to Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken. They were extremely nice to us, as it was our first time there. I got a 3 piece dark chicken meal (which came with 2 thighs, a leg, baked beans, and coleslaw) and I was not disappointed. The chicken were delicious, so good they could be world famous. The beans were the best baked beans I had ever had. The only thing I didn't like was the coleslaw, which was a bit lackluster. On the menu you can get both white meat or dark meat chicken, in case you prefer one over the other. Overall, Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is one of the best fried chicken places I have ever been to.
Last week I went to a restaurant right in front of this chicken joint and thought to myself " I gotta try it!" The item that made me walk in the door, was the Green Fried Tomatoes, i had the tenders with Mac n' cheese and BBQ beans. My wife had the wing a-la-carte and the potato salad! The crisp on the chicken was awesome, and i can't identify what was in the batter but it was awesome. They have a counter you can watch games from and plenty of tables. Our waitress, as well as the rest of the staff that served us, was very helpful and friendly. Definitely give it a go!
I had been wanting to come here for the longest and I finally made it here. First thing I noticed upon entering was a sign telling exactly what you needed to do for dine-in or takeout. After seating myself, the waitress, Angie, can over to offer me to place my drink order. I told her I was ready for everything now. After ordering my food, it came out within five minutes, hot and smelling good. The chicken I chose was on the small side but it made it up with the flavor and the hint of spicy to it. It was juicy and eat bite had the same taste a the last. The next thing I dove into was the Mac and cheese. They had a crust baked over it and it didn’t disappoint. In fact, it was in the top best that I’ve had in my life. The fries were sprinkled just right with seasoned salt, the cole slaw was wet but not overly wet while the potato salad was decent. A lot better than most places. I would definitely recommend this place to someone if you’ve never been. Angie, my waitress was very attentive and she made she that my drinks were topped off on the regular. Don’t sleep on this place.
Fantastic experience!! This was a true 1970s diner experience with AMAZING fried chicken. We ordered the 3 piece dark plate with beans and coleslaw, the fried pickles and the chess pie. The fried chicken was mouthwateringly delicious. It was crunchy and bready on the outside and juicy+soft on the inside! The fried pickles were delicious. The pie was pretty darn good too! I can't believe that we haven't been to a Gus's before this but we will be back very very soon!!
The place has a nice atmosphere, it is kept clean, they have several large screen TV spread among the dining area you can watch sporting events, the staff was nice and friendly and professional. I ordered the 3pcs White and paid the $.50 substitution fee to Switch the side from slaw to French fries, the soda was free refill (except for the bottled root beer). The Fried Chicken skin seemed dark and overcooked but was surprisingly juicy and cooked just right. They warned me that it ‘s spicy but I found it to to spiced enough for taste. It was a bit pricey for a 3pcs meal but worth it to try and have once in a while.
This chicken is truly amazing! So juicy and crispy at the same time! I haven’t had fried okra in years, and this was so good! I ordered to go and waited about 15 minutes for the chicken to be made which wasn’t bad at all. I chatted with the cashier who was super friendly. All of the staff were in high spirits and it seemed like a real family environment. 10/10 for the chicken, I would probably try different sides next time but the okra was a hit for sure!
Just loved it here! Reminds me of being back home. I loved the atmosphere and the music, too. Even better was the customer service!!! Awesome place!! The food was delicous and comforting! I know where to go when I want a slice of home! Miles was an awesome server. Always rocked a smile and did a great job with the recommendations. We started with the Fried Okra. I tried not to fill up on them because they were so good! The food came out pretty fast, too! The chicken was juicy and I love whatever they coated the chicken with! Super light, yet crispy and had the perfect amount of heat. The greens are delicious. Nothing better than some greens that tastes like my me-maw cooked. Tasted just the same. Even had bacon in it, too. The macaroni and cheese was cooked perfectly! I love the texture of al dente pasta and the amount of cheesiness was on point. The beans were very tasty and had just the right amount of sweetness just like their fresh brewed iced tea. I love the succulent pieces of fat in the beans-definitely a plus in my books. They serve your chicken with a slice of bread and it literally just brought me back home to Virginia when I got my plate and saw that piece was hiding under my chicken!! So, I will NEVER purchase Sweet Potato Pie from anywhere else. The minute I took a bite, I was in heaven. The pie was bliss. This place nailed it. I'm going to buy a whole pie next time. This is not processed sweet potatoes or like canned pumpkin pie filling. They used real sweet potatoes. I know sweet potato pie is hard to find because we've been searching for a while. This pie and all their pies are homemade AND you can taste it. Holy moly. Don't buy a slice - bring home a pie. I can't wait to try the rest of their desserts. Heck, we're coming back to try the chicken tenders and coleslaw, too with a root beer float!
I was introduced to this place back in June. And their chicken is really tasty. It has just the right kick of hot and spicy flavor. And the portion are great. And let's not forget about the sides. I added fries and baked beans which is my favorite. But you choose. I highly recommend this place even if you go there just once.
Their chicken and seasoning is amazing. Perfectly fried and still juicy throughout although small compared to other places. I do like they offer all dark or light meat options. Limited menu, but that’s expected. You come here for the chicken, so that’s what they serve with a few options for additional sides. Located on the south side of Glenoaks. Parking lot entrance and exit on Glenoaks, no access from the side street. Seating is super basic but they have TVs for sports everywhere. Beer is pretty affordable as well.
After a morning hike, went to Gus's for lunch, I want to let my wife and sons try their fried chicken. Since I work around Burbank area, I have tried it a couple of times. They increased their prices quite a bit. We ordered the 8 pieces special, it is now $30 with no sides at all. And the kid's tenders are $10, the sides are so small. My wife loves the chicken, it is so tender and moist, but the tenders are tough and dry, so weird, though that tenders should be tender ones... Anyway, even though the chickens are good, we might not go again unless we want something specific from Gus's.
The chicken was amazing. The sweet potato pie was good, too.The potato salad was alright. I wouldn’t say the Mac n cheese was good at all. Customer service was great. The restrooms were cleaned. Overall, the experience was good. It is not a soul food restaurant, but the items on there are soul food. The style of food is Hispanic/Mexican style.
I’m originally from the city where Gus’s began, so I was excited to finally try this LA location now that I’m recovering from surgery and had some time. Unfortunately, my experience over the past two days—especially with Catalina—was really disappointing. I placed a delivery order that cost around $50, and when the food arrived, the chicken was raw. When I called, Catalina only offered to replace one piece of chicken, which felt dismissive and completely inadequate given the situation. I wasn’t looking for a refund—I just wanted the issue taken seriously. Instead, she kept talking over me, which flared up my anxiety. It was incredibly frustrating, especially considering that undercooked chicken poses a health risk. Thankfully, Michael stepped in and immediately handled it with care and professionalism. I truly appreciated how quickly he worked to resolve things. Whoever manages Michael should know he’s a strong problem solver and a stark contrast to the poor attitude I experienced with Catalina. Despite this, I’ll say the food is genuinely good when it’s prepared right. This was my first bad experience with Gus’s, and I hope it’s just a one-off.
