Opinions de Let It Be Caravaggio
Owner was awesome. Super flavors and a great counter person. We loved it.
Random walk-in on a Monday night. This place was quite busy with regular patrons for a reason! Their pricing is super reasonable for the quality they put out. The owner told us they make their gelato in-house and you can definitely taste it! We ordered the fiordilatte, stracciatella, and passion fruit gelato and all were not overly sweet and the flavors were sophisticated. This is a great spot to try unique gelato.
The best gelato in the Bay... possibly California. This place really is a lab. They create the most amazing flavours with high quality ingredients. There is no bad choice you can make here. My personal favourites are hazelnut and pistachio. The ambience is also lovely and the people are great and you should really visit if you are in the area.
Gluten free and lactose free and vegan flavors clearly labeled! Also, they have some traditional Piedmont hazelnut flavors that are amazing. Because they use fresh ingredients some flavors will change, just get there and see what they have! Last time we went they had Marzapane, sicilian almond and it was a blast, I also appreciated the fact that is true Italian ice cream, which is not too sweet.
Best gelato in town. Comparable to gelato in Rome. Brought Argentine friends and they loved it. Super sweet service. Can be long lines but is worth the wait.
One of the best ice creams I’ve tried! Great quality, moderately sweet, big choice of flavors (both standard and non-trivial). Another great feature is that they put two scoops next to each other and not one on the top of the other unlike in literally all ice cream shops. Thanks to that you can eat two flavors at the same time!
To me this place has the best ice cream in the Bay Area. Not overly sweet, right amount of flavors and thickness.
Absolutely delicious, refreshing, and so creamy! Their fruit-based flavors are clearly made from real fruit. Their serving sizes are small for ice cream shops in this price range, but they’re definitely high quality!
I haven’t been to Italy but this is the best Gelato I’ve experienced. The fior di latte flavor is so simple and so good
Texture is great and almost weightless. One of the best in bay
Very good gelato. It actually tastes like what the flavor says. Pistachio tastes like real pistachio. Hazelnut like real hazelnut, etc. Actually the flavors may taste more like hazelnut than hazelnuts themselves. I haven’t had that experience anywhere else in the Bay Area.
All the gelato flavors we tried were amazing, especially passion fruit, matcha, and red tea. Each was perfectly balanced, not too sweet or heavy, with a nice variety of flavors that felt solid and not overly fancy. A refined take on traditional gelato.
I have been coming here since 2010. Best gelato in the east bay (and maybe in all of Bay Area). Texture is luscious, creamy, and not too sweet. Flavor is just the right level of intense. Personal favorite is absolutely the black sesame, piedmont hazelnut, and pistachio
Really excellent! Kiddo impressed they serve milk chocolate gelato in addition to dark chocolate and hazelnut chocolate. Affogato served in special metal bowl.
Excellent ice cream, one of the best I've ever tried. As an extra, they do not use sugar, which makes the final product healthier, lighter, and guilty free. One scoop has less calories than an apple! Tastes also better as you can fully appreciate the hazelnut/chocolate/orange etc (depending on the flavour). They also serve piadina:) . Friendly atmosphere. I would definitely recommend.
What a lovely place. We were in Berkeley for a casual lunch on Shattuck Ave and walked by this place. It looked so cute and cozy that we had to go in. Plus it said Italian gelato, are you kidding me? You can't simple walk by, pass it and not stop. Very casual and warm atmosphere inside, love the way it's done up. Few seats at a large community table and few tables outside as well. Organic milk and great vegan options too. Few great gelato options, sorbets and coffee with great quality here! I love me some pistachio gelato that is not easy to find but this place nailed it. I opted for the cone which was freshly made, crunchy and delicious. Hubby loved his afogato and we had a great time speaking in Italian to the owners. Well located on a busy street like Shattuck and so close to the BART, makes this place ideal spot for that gelato on a hot day! They also have few table games for entertainment :) Gender neutral bathrooms and super clean, happy me :)
Delicious gelato at a reasonable price. So many flavors to choose from. It tastes authentic!
Nice gelato 😌🍨 The staff are nice and the place is clean. They don’t have many indoor seats, but it’s fine to just take out anyways Their flavor and menu changes according to the season and they invented new flavor from time to time :) The ingredients are good quality and the gelato tater natural without artificial nor too-sugary taste P.S. their waffle cone is a cup which is cute! 🧇 # Hazelnut Chocolate Waffle Cup
Speechless with how good this place is even tho I’ve driven by here so many times! So glad I stopped by to try their affogato! This place is legit according to my boyfriend who’s been to Italy! Worth the stop if you’re craving something sweet!
UPDATE: 2 years after my initial experience here this place is still cranking out some of the best gelato in Berkeley, partially because it's just really fresh, and also, because they're using some good chocolate, whatever brand it is. Great Gelato spot in Berkeley, with a few innovative flavors amongst the normal Gelato fare, they are always testing new ideas and flavors. A step above the ordinary, this is the place to get your Cold Sugar fix on.

Great rotating flavors with high quality ingredients, some of the best gelato ever
This is the best gelato I've found so far in the bay area. It's excellent! Super creamy! Always have unique flavors.
Great tasting ice cream. Friendly and helpful staff. Suggested I try the pomegranate before. It was great but didn't match the Stratiatella I wanted, too.
Delicious. Matcha flavor has a strong matcha flavor and not run down at all. The mango flavor was delicious.
Very good. I had the black sesame and the hazelnut chocolate, both delish. The important thing is they got the gelato texture right; many places don't. The 'regular' cup is pretty small, but with the intense flavors and richness, just right for me.
This is it. THIS is the ultimate gelato or ice cream. Good lord. The chocolate is such a work of art. The gianduja is straight-up insane. In both are lovely, intense and layered flavors, with such wonderfully chewey and elastic texture. Seriously, Caravaggio's gelato is better than any I tried in Florence, better than anything you'll find in the bay area. Highly recommended. Mandated, really.
The coffee, gianduja, hazelnut, and stracciatella flavors are amazing! I make sure to check this place out regularly - it’s one of the best places for gelato in Berkeley.
Some of the best dessert I’ve ever had. The Alphonso mango flavor tastes like you are biting directly into the ripest and juiciest mango. The other flavors also don’t disappoint. I like that they get creative with some savory or non-sweet flavors. It’s always fun to try them out even if they’re not my cup of tea.
Loved the flavor and texture, guava gelato tasted like an actual guava somehow turned into gelato, not just guava flavored gelato. Their seasonal flavors are fun and 🔥

Friendly staff. The gelato is high quality ingredients. Many of the flavors are intense to the taste buds.
The gelato here is good, a touch less sweet than others around (which is fantastic, imo) and creamy. The pine nut gelato was great and the gianduia was really good, but the pistachio one tasted (and looked) more like pistachio skins. Nothing really special about the store itself, just looks like an ice cream spot and the scooper person was a bit cold too.
Good quality Gelato with interesting new flavors. Not as rich as some other Gelato places but good taste in flavor. Would recommend. Prices are reasonable.

Rich, dark chocolate gelato with an intense cocoa flavor — though it had a strange sugary aftertaste that lingered longer than I’d like. The other flavors we sampled (orange cream and hazelnut chocolate) were just okay. Service was a bit slow, and it would be great to see some low-sugar options on the menu. Still, I appreciated that the dark chocolate was vegan!

got matcha & mango gelato, but unfortunately wasn't impressed. the flavors were both good, but a few notable cons were size (really small amount in a regular for $5.50) and the texture (a bit watery, not creamy)

This shop is just a couple of blocks from my new place, so I was excited to try it on my walk back from the store today. I waited a minute for someone to come out of the back, which wouldn’t normally be an issue, but it was so hot inside that it felt like a lifetime and I considered walking out because I was getting heat sick quickly. But when she did come out, I sampled the chocolate hazelnut gelato, and it was really good. I quickly decided on an affogato, but when I noticed she was making it in a metal cup, I let her know that I wanted it to go. She said, “ oh we don’t do affogatos to go,” which surprised me, because I’ve had an affogatos to go from almost every gelato shop in the Bay Area! I told her that I couldn’t stay because I had a load of laundry finishing in 2 minutes (in a shared laundry room with broken machines so it’s REALLY shitty to take them over and be late.) I’ve also had bariatric surgery and can’t always finish things quickly, so I never ever get drinks NOT “to go.” She scrambled for a container to put it in and acted kind of put out about it. If that’s your policy, you really should be checking with people when they order! Unfortunately, it was a FANTASTIC affogato. I say unfortunately, because I can’t imagine I’d ever come back and drink this inside because it was so uncomfortable (both the temperature inside and the kind of crappy attitude from the employee) and because my specific dietary situation doesn’t always allow me to finish things. I hope you consider changing this policy!

Tasted three flavors. Had the impulse to spit the almond out. Peach tasted like peach and frozen tap water. Passion fruit is always a winner but nope wasn’t even half decent. Maybe they were just sold out of their best flavors? Thinking Gelato Lab hmm flavors seem to still be in the experimental stage. Left without any gelato :,,(
The gelato (all 3 flavors I tried) tasted like similar frozen cream with a tad of sweetness and nothing else - barely any flavor. The cone tasted like crispy paper. This was the worst gelato / ice cream place I’ve ever tried. I’m surprised this establishment has lasted 8 years.
