Really great place for Mexican food in Carmel Valley. We came on a Tuesday afternoon and were seated right away. Our server Angel was absolutely phenomenal, so kind and polite. He even took a photo for us as well. Huge shoutout to him!!! Everything came out pretty fast, and all the food was tasty. I would definitely come again just based on the service alone.

It’s been awhile I’ve been there. Sometimes they were not consistent and bad service. This was 2 years ago. I stopped dining until 3 months ago. Now a few servers are great some need more training. I pick one server as my favorite but she don’t work nights as server now, Alissa. The food is great I order a few items like The Cattlemen, Chili Verde en Molcajete and Chili verde burrito

We went on a Sunday afternoon. There was parking and seating available. Service will depend on the server you get. We had a server who was slow and innatentive, yet friendly. A table near ours had much better service. The food was very good. Many have given one stars for it not being "authentic Mexican" but we liked it and "authenticity" wasn't a requirement. Something for everyone on the menu. I would definitely go again and recommend it to others.

We were regulars the time we lived in Monterey 20 years ago so we wanted to visit again when we went on holiday in the area. The atmosphere was fantastic and the staff helpful but our food didn't meet our expectations. The nachos came cold, the texture of the tortillas was strange and we ate both the burrito and the fajitas without the tortillas.We recommend visiting it for a drink or a light snack.

Eclectic decor focused on motor sports located across from Quail Lodge. I thought the place and food was really good. Pork mole enchiladas were excellent. Pineapple quesadilla and Mango enchilada were a tad sweet but otherwise good. Guacamole was smoothly blended

The reason I gave this a four-star and not 5 is because the food is inconsistent. This last time my food was great. They put plenty of enchilada sauce cheese and their green onion garnish that is supposed to be on there and sometimes isn't. My waiter was Raymond and he's always very accommodating and cordial! I love sitting out on their patio on a nice day and most of the days are very nice there. The weather is moderate and usually beautiful ❣️

Fun destination restaurant in Carmel Valley. It has a really cool vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside on the patio where there were several long communal style tables and a few smaller tables along the perimeter. We started with a couple of margaritas ($15 each). I got the original, which doesn't have sugar. It was tart, delicious and refreshing. We also ordered the chips, salsa ($4) and small guacamole ($8). Chips and salsa were really good, but the guacamole was off in texture, taste and spice level. My husband ordered the steak fajitas and he said they were okay. I had the blackened burrito with prawns and chicken. It was okay as well, but needed spice so I got a side of habanero sauce. I would go back but maybe for drinks and appetizers and will skip the guacamole.

I was expecting great food but was really disappointed. I had the chicken fajitas which were tasteless and cold, our party had also ordered two special combos which again disappointed with lack of taste. The other two meals, burgers, were expensive for what there was and the fries were cold. The atmosphere and service was really great but the food was not. It was overpriced for the quality and quantity. I would not visit again and I would not recommend.

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️☆☆ Food: Mexican ‘style’ cantina Never really understood these types of places. They say they are a Mexican Cantina but serve you on plastic fajita dispenser plates made to look authentic, the guac whilst good was too small a portion. Service artificially good as you’d expect in California. Overall nothing to write home about. What I liked: • Interesting decor • Relatively good (even if insincere) service • Pleasant guac • Reasonable price point What I didn’t like: • Not so pleasant vegetable fajitas • The dark booths • The fake, plastic serving dishes Do I recommend going? Do not eat here if you have food allergies or sensitivities! The menu states that some enchilada dishes do not have Jack cheese. We asked the server to confirm and they kindly double checked, which I very much appreciated at the time. We were told that although typically the dish comes with Jack cheese, they could make it with only aged cheese (like cheddar, as the menu says anyways) upon request. I thanked the server for checking and stated that I have a tough time digesting some (higher lactose) cheeses and I appreciated it. The food comes out and the server puts the enchiladas in front of me. The food looked pretty decent but I was told that the kitchen was unable to make it without jack cheese. There also appeared to be some crumbled cotija cheese or similar (which was not mentioned at any time). I told the server again that I didn’t want to eat it because the cheese didn’t agree with me. My wife restated that it would cause me digestion problems if I ate it. The server asked me what I wanted to do, and left the food at the table although I made it clear that I had no intention of eating it. I found this to be rude and the server’s tone was unapologetic. I asked for a salad and waited while my partner watched their food get cold. I felt terrible and embarrassed. When the salad came out it was okay. I found a walnut in the salad which is a foreign contaminate, presumably from some other dish. I don’t happen to be allergic to nuts but I know that is a matter of life or death for some. There was no adjustment to the bill despite the menu being wrong about common allergen ingredients for 2 dishes and we were given wrong information about the food as well. Overpriced, marginal service, inconsistencies about ingredients. Cannot recommend.

Won't be going back. Drinks are a rip off. I ordered a 12 oz virgin margerita and they charged me 30.00. Just a little too greedy for me. I even gave them the opportunity to adjust and they refused. The manager said it was there policy. I'm a local and I'll be passing on to all my friends.

We had a bad experience on my mom’s birthday! The food was fine Pamela was our waitress and they charged $40.00 for a cake cutting fee and she didn’t cut the cake or do anything to help us with the cake! She gave us soup spoons to eat with! We asked to talk to a manger and she was no help either! We’re locals and frequent Baja Cantina, however we will NOT be coming back!
