Everything was fine in general. The staff was excellent, always making sure the food was perfect. The rooms were average, nothing special. One drawback: Booking.com assigned us a room with two separate beds, so we asked for a double, but they didn't have one available (obviously through no fault of their own). The cleanliness was superb. The pool and surrounding area were also excellent. I'd like to thank Pilar in particular for recommending where we could buy some products. Thank you for everything; we had a wonderful week. We still have two more days left. The best thing is that dogs are welcome, even if they are small breed dogs.
I've stayed at this hostel several summers and everything was generally very good. The pool is great, they allow pets, and you can eat with them in the garden. The food in the restaurant is good, and the waiters are very friendly—Jan Carlos and Alba—everyone always treats us very well. The rooms are clean and have air conditioning. Getting around requires a car, but it's very close to Salamanca and the Huerta river beach. A highly recommended place, I'll be back.
We were pleasantly surprised, very pleasantly. Beyond the location, which is very subjective and may suit different people, the main thing is that the hotel itself, along with its restaurant and especially its service, are fantastic. The food was excellent, the waiters were all incredibly friendly, especially a charming young Brazilian man in our case. The owner, who greeted us upon arrival and served us on other occasions, was equally kind and always polite and helpful. They also allow pets, but the best part is that, unlike in other establishments, they can be in all the hotel rooms (and restaurant) if desired. It's wonderful, and I hope it serves as an example for others. The rooms, although the hotel is obviously a bit older, are perfectly equipped with everything necessary, and, importantly, all have air conditioning and heating, and of course, all have their own private bathroom. In short, we had a truly luxurious stay. Finally, and what surprised and delighted us most, was the pool and its surroundings: a spectacular terrace, lawn, sun loungers, parasols, and even a gazebo... oh, and of course, terrace service too (you could eat, drink, have dinner, etc.). In short, for us it was a haven of peace and an oasis in the middle of the Castilian plains (and 20 minutes or less from Salamanca). And I also want to mention, for those looking at the budget, that we found it very inexpensive considering everything I've just described, and this was in the middle of August. The food, besides being exquisite, was also very reasonably priced. In short, fantastic, and although we might not have to go to Salamanca, we will definitely return; we loved it. Thank you to all the staff and the owner.
I didn't have high expectations when I booked, but I was pleasantly surprised by the service, the room, and the common areas. The pool was a great choice for these hot days, and the food was excellent value for money. We'll definitely be back. Thanks to Pablo and his staff for their interest and courtesy with their guests.
Near Salamanca. Clean room. The kitchen is very good, and the staff is excellent. The best thing is that they allow pets and have a lovely garden for enjoying a drink and spending time with them.
A great experience. The best for me is that they're pet-friendly. I went with my dog at no extra cost. The room was clean, the staff was very attentive. The pool was fabulous, so you can spend the afternoon relaxing and having a drink. The restaurant's prices were affordable. We had a delicious paella. In short, I recommend it.
A short-term hostel with simple, clean rooms. The breakfast was excellent value for money, and the best part was the staff's attention. The waitress was wonderful with the thoughtful touches she showed my daughters. We've also booked for our return trip, so that says it all.
We spent one night and everything was perfect. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were very good. Everything was very clean. The pool and garden were great. My son enjoyed it a lot. It's very close to Salamanca and you don't have to take any detours. Highly recommended for a short stop on a long trip.
It's a place to stop and rest. As a hostel, it's perfect. The price-performance ratio is perfect. Exceptional restaurant. A place typical of the Spanish desert, a visit that makes you reflect. The people who run it are very friendly. A basic but perfect hostel. The music selection in the dining room—piano versions—is relaxing and enjoyable. Go to Pedrosillo el Ralo and spend a day at Hostal Carolina.
Excellent service, like being at home, quiet place with good parking and close to Salamanca.
We came here to spend one night, and honestly, it makes us want to stay longer, as it's so luxurious. We had dinner, and it was spectacular!!!
Clean and spacious rooms, excellent service, and very pleasant staff. The dinner was delicious and served in large quantities. A highly recommended place to stay, whether for lunch or dinner.
I was pleasantly surprised, not only by the service and hospitality, but also by the excellent food. We took a break along the way and found this accommodation right on the mark. It has a pool and a lovely green area with natural shade from large trees. The rooms are functional and clean.
My partner and I spent Easter break in Salamanca, and this hostel was a 12-minute drive from the city center. It was cozy, pleasant, and very clean, with daily room service. It had a charming, rural feel but with the comfort of a hostel. The staff was impeccable, attentive, and friendly. The restaurant had a varied menu. I highly recommend it. If we travel through the area again, we'll definitely stay at H. Carolina again.
We went for lunch and enjoyed a spectacular weekend menu! The service was exquisite. And we were able to enjoy the pool in the afternoon. It's so worth it. Highly recommended.
We celebrated my parents' golden wedding anniversary... The service from the first minute we started planning it was 10/10... the garden was beautiful... they decorated and adapted everything for the celebration we had... we had a cocktail that was all exquisite and freshly made... the waiters' treatment was impeccable... we went to the dining room to eat and what can I say about the food and service... everything was delicious... some of the best suckling pig I've ever eaten... And to top off the event, a few drinks in the garden and enjoying the pool... THANK YOU FOR MAKING THAT DAY MUCH MORE SPECIAL THAN IT WAS
Every year we go a couple of times in the summer for lunch or dinner and to enjoy the pool; the terrace is lovely. We've also stayed there several times and always had a great time.
The place is very nice at a very competitive price, the pool is great and the restaurant food is too, the staff's attention is superb, every detail is taken care of, also if you go with pets, not only do they not charge extra and everything is made easy for them, and they have a place to play if you then have a long road trip
Spacious restaurant area with space for events and celebrations. It offers a daily menu (26 euros on weekends) with delicious food. The service is very friendly and family-friendly. It has a terrace and pool area with a green area, making it very pleasant. Recommended.
We stayed one night as a break on our route. The restaurant is a 10. The food is fantastic, and the staff is very professional. The rooms are perfect for sleeping. Comfortable beds. We didn't notice the pet policy. And when we arrived, I saw dogs everywhere... haha. Not that I have anything against it, but I would have preferred not to. My daughter is phobic about it. But otherwise, 100% recommended.
Very satisfactory. I booked via WhatsApp and email with my ID. I don't use a credit card, and they didn't have any issues. It's easy to find. A warm welcome. The room, without being too fancy, is perfectly equipped for both winter (it's January now) and summer (it has a pool and a small garden). Double-glazed windows and air conditioning. Good mattress and adequate bathroom. I had dinner. The food was delicious and the dishes were well presented. Simple decor blends old and new. The facilities in general are very good; without any fuss, it has enough of everything and is very pleasant. The staff who served me, both "Jota" and Louis, were attentive, friendly, and kind. The price/quality ratio was very good. Recommended. If I have to return to this area, I won't hesitate.
We only stayed one night as a stopover, but we really enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and warm, pets are welcome, and the breakfast is quite substantial. Plus, the staff is very friendly. We'll definitely keep this place in mind for future trips.
I just returned from my stay at Hostal Carolina and I couldn't be happier. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. They truly made me feel at home, always with a smile and ready to help with anything I needed. A 10 out of 10 for their warmth and hospitality! The hostel's cleanliness was impeccable. A special mention goes to the fact that they changed the towels and cleaned the bathroom daily, which was greatly appreciated. The location is fantastic for visiting Salamanca, about a 17-minute drive away for those who enjoy exploring the surrounding villages, as we did. But what truly makes this hostel stand out is the combination of such friendly service and well-maintained facilities. The hostel offers a variety of delicious menus. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back! P.S. Parking is easy to find.
We spent one night at the hostel and I have to highlight the friendliness of the staff, the excellent food, and especially, for us travelers, the very comfortable beds. The hostel was very clean and welcoming.
We came to Salamanca for a family weekend. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. Everything was great.
A lovely family, everything was comfortable, with people like that it's a pleasure
Very good facilities, very clean rooms, a bit small, the food is very good, and the garden, terrace and pool are great.
I got what I paid for. Absolutely great service, room small but clean, hot shower and perfect WiFi. Food was excellent and appreciate the location to be close to the highway.
A lovely hostel, very close to Salamanca. I attended a civil wedding there; I hadn't heard of it before, and I was pleasantly surprised. A great place to celebrate all kinds of events, with a pool to cool off in. I loved the food. We'll be back.
We ate a special Three Kings' Day menu on Three Kings' Day, which was fabulous, although we were left feeling stuffed. 😁
Great stay
Perfect for a stopover! Everything is there. See you next year 😉
Very clean and comfortable hotel. The restaurant is very good and the prices are very reasonable. The staff is very friendly.
Perfect 👍 Warm welcome, very good paella meal. I recommend 👌 Great pool.
Excellent budget hotel on main route back towards the Spanish ports. Owner seemed a bit grumpy but his trouble and strife and daughter were both very pleasant. Rooms were very clean if a tad dated but for the money you really couldn’t complain especially when considering the location. Bar served excellent ice cold San Miguel and the restaurant was very good with a varied menu presented in English for the un-educated like me.
Very welcoming, with friendly and welcoming staff. The restaurant is spotless, and the food is superb. I highly recommend it! 💯💯
Very nice hotel! I love the hallway decor! And the waitress, receptionist, and bartender were super friendly and efficient!!! Thank you so much! I'll definitely keep this address in mind!!
What a wonderful stopover on our way to Portugal after a long journey from the Netherlands. Lovely pool, shady garden, terrace, delicious food, clean (family) rooms, and incredibly friendly staff. Breakfast is available as a buffet or simply at the bar. Highly recommended.
What a treat to stay here. Lovely staff, great meal in the restaurant, lovely garden and the village is well worth a walk around for the beautiful buildings.
We discovered the restaurant through an app. It's very spacious, very well-maintained, very friendly, and has excellent service. We ordered cachopo, but we could barely finish it. A good place to eat.
A fantastic hostel and restaurant! I absolutely love it. The food is extraordinary, and the cleanliness is superb. I stayed there a few years ago, and now they've renovated beautifully. The value for money is excellent. I highly recommend it! 👌👌👌👌
Fantastic
Good restaurant, I've never been before but would like to. Thanks for reading.
Charming Great food Highly recommended
We loved the mixed platters and the burger. The waiter was a 10! Friendly and very polite.
Highly recommended restaurant. The daily menu offers excellent options, reasonable prices, and excellent food quality. Very pleasant service. I will definitely return.
Great service, excellent food.
The food was excellent. The service was very attentive and friendly. The pool was perfect.
Nice little hotel with a pool. The restaurant and service are top-notch. A good stopover on your way down to Portugal.
GOOD
A great coffee
👍
We loved it. Everything was very clean and tidy. The rooms were very well-maintained, and the restaurant food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They are pet-friendly. We highly recommend staying at this hostel.
Pleasant treatment and great menu
Everything perfect!!!. 👌
One of the best places to eat and dine at a good price
Everything was very clean and well-maintained, with perfect service. Definitely a repeat customer.
Everything is fine.
Very clean and cosy
The rooms aren't too big, but they're doable, but... the food was delicious, including the tapas. And the prices are absolutely ridiculous. So cheap! For example, breakfast for two is €5.40. Four small tapas dishes are €3.40. A large beer is €1.20.
We decided to stop off on our way back from vacation to make the trip easier because we have a 19-month-old baby. And we couldn't have made a better choice. From the very first moment, we received excellent service, with all the staff very attentive. We spent the night and had dinner there. The food was very good, with special mention to the pepper and tuna belly salad. The room was exactly what we were looking for, and the bathroom was clean and had a good shower. The only negative point I would recommend is adding an elevator in case they receive guests with strollers.
A good hotel, very easy to find. We were following the Silver Route north and still made a detour, and we didn't regret it. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and treated with great care. We had dinner there and noticed they used very high-quality ingredients and served generous portions. They accommodated special requests without any problem. Although the room looked dated, it provided the service one would expect.
Although the surroundings aren't the most welcoming when you arrive, once you enter the hotel, everything gives you reason to feel very comfortable. Starting with the staff, always attentive and very friendly. The restaurant and its poolside garden are worthy of mention; everything is very decent in terms of food and service. But the prices... their value for money is highly competitive and satisfactory. We'll definitely be back. Keep it up.
No he estado allí alojada. Pero sí he ido varias veces al restaurante. Comida casera de gran calidad, buen producto y buena ejecución
Good hotel near Salamance, great restaurant. Rooms a little outdated but comfortable. Parking outside the hotel, closes at 10 p.m., swimming pool. Two gas stations nearby, à la carte breakfast, but reasonably priced. I recommend this hotel.
Very friendly, clean, good food, nice garden and pool. Hostel parking and very good price.
It's an oasis. Very well-maintained, friendly service, and excellent a la carte food. We stopped while traveling south, and it's right off the highway but still offers a sense of calm and relaxation. It has a pool that you can use if you've made a reservation.
The food is great and the service is also very good, and now that summer is approaching, it's phenomenal to be by the pool.
Hotel very close to the highway and a gas station. The staff is very friendly. The pool and bar are very welcome after a long journey. Very good value for money.
Very warm welcome, lovely decor, hearty and complete meal for €16.50. Impeccable cleanliness of the room. Very affordable price. We will be back!
Extraordinary place, charming and warm, pet friendly, amazing food and magnificent collection of clocks and paintings. The staff were extremely polite and welcoming and the price is great for such a cosy and beautiful village, just few miles away from Salamanca. One star less because of the noise during the night - the wall are thin, therefore the cry of a baby from upstairs, the dog on one side of the neighbour room and the TV one the other, all night long was way too much.
Good price, I found long hairs on the floor
I've been there for a month and it seems fine to me, the service could be improved, the food good.
Great hotel, simple rooms, but nothing more is needed. The room was clean. The food is excellent! The food was truly delicious!
Excellent as a roadside hotel, it's very close to the A62 motorway and about 15-20 minutes from Salamanca. The rooms are functional and the bed and pillow are comfortable. The only downside is that their website says there's a 24-hour reception, but the receptionist's shift ends at 11:30 pm, so if you arrive late you have to let them know.
A 20-minute drive to Salamanca. Excellent value for money.
A stopover halfway between France and southern Portugal, pleasant welcome, cleanliness, bar and restaurant on site and private parking for 6 spaces, this on the street is not really a problem because the hotel is quiet.
The room was very comfortable and clean. It couldn't be better for the price. Just 15 minutes from Salamanca and easily accessible. The restaurant is expensive but the quality is good.
It has been a very pleasant stay
Perfect for one night, room a little old-fashioned but good bed, very quiet, very good and plentiful meal for a very reasonable price.
For what you can expect, you can expect very good room and restaurant service. It also has a swimming pool.
Good value for money. Very good cleanliness. The best thing is the restaurant, the worst is the noise in the rooms. You can hear the person next door snoring, as well as people passing by in the hallways.
I spent one night. The hotel was clean. The staff was very friendly. Easy access to the highway heading south. One drawback... you can hear the guest in the room next door quite a bit. Recommended
Budget hotel in a good location for an overnight stay if you're traveling along the Silver Route. The rooms are somewhat outdated. My bedspread had a sizable hole. The restaurant is expensive, although the quality of the food matches the prices. Breakfast in the cafeteria seemed a bit pricey. The pool is great for cooling off in the summer.
We ate very well. The dining room was very large, allowing for distance between tables. Highly recommended.
They let us enter the dining room with our dog and they were very kind, the food was very good and the treatment was also good, especially Javier who was the one who served us.
I went with my parents to inquire about a Saturday meal for thirteen people. The person who served us, named Alba, explained the group and weekend menus to us. She sent me the group menus via WhatsApp. The only drawback I can find is that the weekend menu isn't known until the day itself, since the menu they prepare is based on what's available. In my opinion, they should have planned the menu a little in advance to give diners a chance to know what they'll be having that day. We liked the dining room because of how cool it is. Good service, friendly staff.
The best thing about the hotel is the reasonable price. You can tell by the location, which is far from Salamanca, but that's part of the price. Otherwise, the rooms are small in size and size. The beds and the only closet are small because there's limited space. The room doesn't have a bathroom, but rather a small toilet with a shower and no bidet. The shower is so small you can barely fit in, and you have to change the water temperature by touching the faucet while moving around to clean your entire body (I'm of average size and height, about 77 kg). So, if you're thick or stocky, I don't recommend it. Parking is easy. There's a roadside club right next door, and there's plenty of parking. I don't recommend it for children, as it's also very noisy. There was a nighttime party at the hotel, and you couldn't sleep because of the noise until very late in the morning. However, the morning shift staff was friendly.
A mixed review of this basic hotel. Reasonably well laid out but with a lot of dated furniture and superfluous trinkets. There are paper thin walls and we had a family with two small children in the room next door having a competition to see who could make the most noise. We had to ask for another room, which they agreed to without question. Unfortunately the new room was a bit pokey and directly above the smoking area outside and the bar below so had to have the window shut. The toilet was reluctant to flush as well so not in great condition and a plug for the sink would have been a nice touch! Not crazy about the greeting when we arrived either. There was a guy hanging around who looked a bit dodgy, mumbling to himself a lot. I said hello and began to ask a question but he just pointed at reception and looked away. I felt like I was walking into the 'Slaughtered Lamb' (AWIL). However, the hotel was acceptably clean plus very handy for the motorway route north. The pool was great - clean and refreshing. Restaurant food was tasty, cheap and quick to serve but the staff serving were miserable as sin. (I thought there may have been a death in the staff!) Slightly disappointed that other male guests proceeded to watch the La Liga football on their phones at the table but can't blame the hotel for this. All in all, if you want to get your head down in an inexpensive pit stop motel then this is it. Just make sure you don't get the 'family' next door or expect a noise free evening before midnight!
Simple, for one night.
The menu leaves a lot to be desired
The rooms smell damp, they charge more for breakfast than they tell you, always book through Booking.com, it's cheaper.
A very short stay, the facilities don't look like the photos taken when the hostel was new or renovated, which is misleading. Cleanliness had some flaws. The receptionist who checked us in was very grumpy.
The customer service is shameful. They kicked me out of the pool tables for eating a sandwich I hadn't bought at the establishment, forcing me to leave the premises. Perhaps I can understand this, but honestly, without the pool rules written and made available to users, it seems strange to me. The final straw came when, upon my return to the establishment, I ran into my wife, who had also been kicked out of the premises for drinking water, claiming they were also selling water. It was a bit of a movie. To top it all off, they had the nerve to say we took the cooler out to a bar's terrace, when that's not true. The supposed pool bar was closed, and the restaurant didn't serve meals at the pool, so the tables weren't on any terrace but were tables that were in the pool. But of course, without rules made available to customers, the tables could have even been on room balconies. The people in charge of communicating the rules to us used a completely inappropriate tone and manner. I decided to go and ask for the rules of use and get them in writing. The manager or owner, very professional by the way, told me that they set the rules (obviously, it's their place), but they didn't have them in writing and that it was up to us to ask what we could and couldn't do. So I asked for a complaint form, and the manager, very "kind," gave me a complaint form for gaming machine users 😅, as I said, very professional. The rooms were completely outdated, beds were very uncomfortable, and pillows were unbearable. The sinks didn't work properly, the shower screen was broken, and there was no ventilation in the bathrooms. Of course, the room was clean. Not everything has to be bad. I take my hat off to them, since keeping the rooms clean after years of renovations must take a lot of work. The breakfast prices are exorbitant: €1.80 for a piece of fruit 🤪, and the weekend menu is €24, an exorbitant amount for the gastronomic offerings. The pool was completely filthy, full of dead and live insects. Even the cleaning robot was inside, with the danger that this entails. Perhaps the health department should take a look and conduct an inspection, as they don't have any posted rules for using their facilities, nor any notices that it's an unsupervised pool, not to mention water tests, which they also refused to provide me with. In short, a very bad experience that I hope the rest of you don't have to go through.
I do not recommend this establishment at all. The treatment and politeness of the owner and staff are appalling. Judging by the response to this review, it's clear what kind of establishment it is. They only mention my politeness but say nothing about the rest of the issues. The one who lied is you, saying I brought out a cooler, when that's not true. Say what you want, luckily the guests will believe what they think. When I was sitting at the pool tables, not on the bar terrace as they claim, and I drank water from my thermos, they came to tell me I couldn't be there drinking anything that wasn't from the establishment. And when I told them it was water, their response was that they also sold water. At no point did I bring out the cooler, as they claim. I was carrying a plastic bag with towels, creams, water, and snacks. I'm not complaining because they won't let my husband eat his sandwich at snack time, I'm complaining because they wouldn't let me drink my water and wanted to force me to buy it for them. When I go to any pool, I can have a snack and drink water; they don't force me to buy it from the pool store even if I'm sitting at one of the tables in the pool. The pool is full of dead birds, even at the bottom. In short, cleanliness is conspicuous by its absence. In fact, the pool-cleaning robot was inside the pool itself, something it shouldn't have, not even for decoration. There are no rules for pool use anywhere, nor is there a sign stating that the pool is unsupervised, which violates the regulations. When we asked for a complaint form, they gave us a complaint form for gaming machine users. I don't know if they thought that would get them out of the way of having a complaint. Honestly, I lost my desire to have breakfast there. They take advantage of the fact that there are no bars in town, because they charge €24 for a weekend meal. That's what they charge in Salamanca for a quality menu.
I got bitten in the hand by a big dog as my family and I were walking from the pool to the rooms. They all knew the dog and all i got was an apology. I was shocked. The manager did not seem to care at all and the dog was with a drunken guy.
Lunch with friends and small children...we didn't like it at all, terrible experience, we just went to eat
[UPDATED 03/07/2020]: Dinner good. The room was full of bedbugs, I couldn't sleep or rest. I have never had a more disgusting and worse night in my life. I contacted the owners, and attached the photographs that I post in this review; in which you can see, in complete detail, the aforementioned BEDBUGS, and their location: sheets, wall and fixtures. The response from the business managers was that <<after checking the room, they didn't see anything>>. I attach photographs and screenshots of the conversation in which they avoid responsibilities.
Terrible place. I booked two rooms for two nights 15 days in advance and when I arrived they told me they only had one night booked and they left me hanging. They didn't even apologize and I've been a customer for many years. Of course I left and didn't even stay the night they had reserved for me.
We stayed at this hotel for our association's trip. We found the staff to be very friendly, great for groups, fair prices, and helpful, and it's a 20-minute bus ride from Salamanca.
We rented a room at this hostel because everything in Salamanca was fully booked. The location is good; you can't miss it (you can see it from the road). The room had a private bathroom and everything was spotless. The service was also excellent.
We stayed one night at this hostel because all the others in Salamanca were fully booked. The location is good; you can't miss it (you can see it from the road), and the room was very clean, including the bathroom. The service was excellent.
We made a reservation by phone for two nights (as we always do) 15 days in advance, and when we arrived at the hostel and paid, we realized it was very cheap. When we asked why the price was so low, they told us we only had a reservation for one night. They didn't bother to fix it. They said the room was reserved for other people and that we could only stay for one night. It was a take-it-or-leave-it situation. Not even an apology from anyone. The young woman at reception couldn't say anything other than "I don't know anything." Very disappointing.
