We had an issue with a delivery being opened and possibly tampered with that was not Brandwein's fault at all! The delivery driver was through a third party app. They fully refunded our order and when we re-ordered it, they double bagged our order and put many staples to keep it safe! They also included a free cookie and two coupons! They were so so helpful and kind! And the bagels are always delicious!

Just an exceptional place. The bagels are great - and I say that as someone who grew up in Long Island, NY. But the service is truly amazing. They had an issue with their order ticketing system on a recent Saturday, and it slowed down orders a lot. (They're usually very fast and efficient.) In all the chaos, when I got home, I found that part of my order was missing. So I went back the next morning to let them know. They fulfilled the rest of my order, apologized for the trouble, and gave me a coupon for my next visit. I really appreciated not having to hassle about the issue - it just got taken care of quickly and courteously. Love Brandwein's!

COMING FROM AN OG QUEENS BORN AND RAISED NEW YORKER!!!! This place is GOOOODDDDD I mean so GOOD I came back 3 days in a ROW. A little embarrassing to admit… but it was seriously the most fulfilling bagel i’ve ever had. The bagels are stuffed to the brim which I appreciate because you get such a good bang for your buck! The cream cheese flavors are AMAZING!! I live for the chive cream cheese!! It was so flavorful and fluffy. This place even donates food for free to those in need which is amazing! The place itself is so cozy and warm, the workers who greet you are very sweet as well :). 10/10. I’m honestly so upset that we don’t have one of these here in NYC, I’m definitely missing it the most from my trip.

Love this spot. I have lived in chapel hill for years and they are my favourite breakfast spot. Onion Bialy with egg & cheese is what I go for. The iced coffee is also SUPER good. Like SO good. It’s from grey squirrel and just has a deep flavour profile. Bagels are fresh. I like the salads too. Cream cheese options are lovely. Open early just closed early too :( - weekends are lively / busy in a good way. The line always moves fast and the staff are well trained, kind, and positive. As good as it gets. Beats many places in New York, too. $10 for breakfast sandwich + coffee

Omg these pictures don't do this delicious egg and cheese on everything bagel justice! Everyone was super friendly and made great recommendations. I loved their menu but, I had to keep it simple this time. They had my food out quick! The music was a vibe. Front of the house was clean, and I was pleasantly surprised that the same went for their restroom. I will definitely return anytime I'm in the area. Worth every penny and got to where I needed to be with plenty of time to eat and be early. If you're a fan of bagels and are in the area and you have to check them out!

Great bagels, great sandwiches, and excellent staff in an extremely clean and efficient location. I arrived at the store to find a clean and well lit environment. The staff was helpful and friendly. As I waited for my food to be prepared, I stopped in the bathroom which was just as clean with amenities for women. The sandwiches I received, used quality bagels with the typical New York bagel slightly chewy but still soft texture. The two egg sandwiches had a generous portion of eggs with fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The turkey sandwich I also purchased also used a generous portion of turkey meat, as well as the fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The staff is a very key component to the business. They are helpful and provide an experience that is unique with small touches that show a level of appreciation for their customer and attention to detail. Others mentioned prices being high, I found their sandwich prices very much in line with other chain locations for egg sandwiches. Not to mention the quality of ingredients is consistent here. Great bagels, great sandwiches and an overall excellent customer and taste experience. I’ll be back.

I hold very strong opinions about what makes a good bagel all informed by childhood experiences visiting my grandparents in River Edge, NJ. I make my own bagels because I have a large family and we all eat bagels pretty much every morning. I can say that having lived in Chapel Hill/Carrboro since 1993, I have NEVER had a more authentic and perfect NYC style bagel than what I had this morning at Brandwein's Bagels! These were big with a nice crispy crust and a chewy yet soft and warm interior and an extremely fresh aroma and flavor! The flavor instantly brought me back to some of the happiest moments of my childhood. It's simply amazing what Alex has done with his shop. Wow! These are the best bagels I've ever bought in Chapel Hill/Carrboro!

Let me update this: Received a call from the manager/owner today. He was extremely nice and didn’t hesitate to remedy the situation. He was polite, and helpful. I’ll give the food another chance, hopefully it was just an off day. Can give the customer service a 10/10 that’s for sure. ordered delivery via the website. Not a third-party app. The bagel was burned, tasted charred… it was an everything bagel, and it had barely any seasoning on it. Tasted like nothing. I also asked for and paid for extra cream cheese did not receive that. I made a special request for capers, told them please adjust the price accordingly. Didn’t receive them, but it was a special request so I’m not holding that against them. Paid $4.50 for a SAUCE container of chicken salad ridiculous. Bruegger’s was way better. I can’t wait to try H&H. Was really overall disappointed in the last two times I received delivery from them. Had high hopes for this place!!!!

Great food and service as always despite the rush. I must say that the quality of the hot chocolate is on one extreme or the other—last week it was mostly just milk and this week it tasted only like chocolate without milk. Would like some more consistency with this given the price we’re paying.

The staff was amazing, which makes the experience so much better wherever you go. We tried this place because we love an authentic NY bagel, and the taste was great, but it wasn’t dense enough, in my opinion. We did only get the egg bagel and egg everything bagel, so maybe the other bagels (plain, sesame, etc.) are different. We live over an hour away and will travel for good food. While this was tasty, it didn’t stand out enough to justify traveling for more.

In the hunt for bagels that are worthy of being called bagels, finally tried Brandwein's. Previously we were happy with Chapel Hill Bagels and then they closed and Deli Edison bagels are nowhere close. We ordered online which was great and pick up was easy as you go in the side door and they have a system of shelves where you pick up your order. There is plenty of outdoor seating. Parking is tight but there is a public lot closer by. Bagels are good but still not up to the standards of NY/NJ. Good crust, but the interior of the bagel is still too bready which is a concept that eludes bagel makers outside of the Northeast. Will still get bagels here though since they are tasty and easy to order.

We were running a tournament in Chapel Hill last weekend, so we got bagels delivered last Friday and Sunday. The bagel sandwiches are ok. It’s like a flat scrambled egg when I just wanted over hard but that’s not an option on the app or white american cheese. I got just a plain bagel toasted on Sunday with butter- I wanted extra but there is nowhere to select that either. They need a “notes” section. I got 2 butter pats which couldn’t even butter the whole bagel. I was disappointed. They need a place to select how many butter pats you want. A dollar for 2 is ridiculous. UPDATE- Thank you so much!!! I am so impressed with your customer service. We will definitely be ordering from you again. 💜

So, I’m not sure if they’ve never tasted a bagel before, but their bagels reminds me of if my wife and daughter tried to make them at home and didn’t boil or bake them right. Or if you took that kids salt dough and tried to make a lager out of it. I dunno.. it’s bad. They are raw looking and have a weird “salt not mixed fully” flavor to them. Truly the worst bagel I’ve ever tried. 😂 I’m sorry to the owners for the bad review. I’m sure they are nice people… but we spent over $30 and are just gonna throw them away. If you like a good NY bagel this is not the place for you. I’m not sure why the rave reviews… maybe because southerners will eat anything or don’t know the difference. Just look at the picture. It’s like they are raw on the outside not golden. And they are like double the price of NY bagel for a bakers dozen

Came here to get a dozen bagels for the ice storm and was super disappointed. The bagels did not seem boiled and were doughy with no chew. No flavor and borderline inedible. I’m not sure if they were in a rush to get bagels out or if this is how they are but I can’t believe how hyped this place was. For authentic NY Bagels NYBD in Cary is the only option. Even bagels at Wegmans are a lot better than this.
