I enjoy home meals and eating at Nelly Latin Restaurant Is like eating my mom’s home cooking. Customer service is very pleasant. What I liked the most is their oxtail with rice and beans. That is really my favorite Dominican food, but everything else looks delicious.

I love this place when I'm up there. I had the roast pork and really enjoyed my chicarron! The ladies are so nice.

The food is amazing always fresh and the employees there are always the best the nice to you they give you fast service your in and out before you know it. What else can you ask from a place that always serves fresh delicious food.Please try their Empanadas they're all delicious. My favorite is chicarron with rice and beans, maduros, tostones, and the ox tail is sooo yummy ( tender, juicy, awesome). Don't forget to top it off with 2 Merengue sodas.

I haven’t been to this location in a while and saw several new faces behind the counter. I’m not sure, however, it appears as if the restaurant has new owners. I ordered the usual, a large chicken soup. It has been tasty in the past, however, it was exceptionally good today (perhaps due to a new cook). The soup was very tasty, and the broth’s consistency was thick and hearty with a nice amount of chicken. It was absolutely delicious!!! Highly recommend!

This place epitomizes the distinct aromas, flavors, and quality of ethnic delicacies while offering an atmosphere and menu reminiscent of home and Mama's cooking(which is crazy considering I'm Ukrainian, not even remotely Latino😝). The staff is professional, courteous, and very friendly. Ask for Alby, she'll tend to you with her partner in crime, Gray. Both are absolutely intoxicating ladies who will make you want to stay just because of their entertaining and endearing personalities, which will likely make you want more food and drinks(brilliant marketing at it's finest😜). There is no alcohol served, but they do make signature beverages from scratch. I forgot the name of the one they had me try after the house lemonade(delicious btw🤤😋), but it was a coconut based almost creamy/yogurt like beverage. In conclusion, this place is one of the finest "unknown hole in the wall" locations I've been to in many moons. Don't believe anything I just said, simply come in and try anything your eyes gravitate towards, you will NOT be disappointed. Tell them Sark sent you and bon appetit! 🤘❤️‍🔥 P.S. They have the courage and enthusiasm to feature Ox Tail...... If you don't try it, you haven't lived. Their recipe is biblical. Not just the taste, but the meat slides off the bone like butter in a hot skillet. I'm not joking about the cooking, it's THAT good! 💯

The food is good here especially for a place upstate where you can’t get good Dominican food this place is your greatest bet. Trust when I tell you it’s good but you have to go early enough to get fresh food. I can’t eat food that has been out in buffet setting for too long but when the food is out fresh from early you won’t be disappointed! I have had the chicharron de pollo sin hueso made to order and it was good with white rice and black beans. I’ve also had the pernil with white rice and salad and fried plantains and that was good again early enough where it’s fresh ! The pastelitos are not good I did not enjoy them at all! Dry, not that much flavor to them and the masa or dough to make them tasted bad so not my pick there. Those are my recommendations.

Now that I'm back to a meat-based diet, I still enjoy their extensive menu. The staff is incredibly friendly and the restaurant is clean, which makes me want to return time and time again. This place truly is a gem in the area serving hearty and culturally-inspired dishes that are perfect for my soullllll. If you’re in the mood for authentic Spanish cuisine, Nelly’s is the spot to hit. Their diverse menu caters perfectly to family nights after a busy day. Plus, the prices are reasonable, and parking is a breeze. Pre-order for pickup is available and highly recommended for anyone eager to sample their delicious offerings.

Pleasant atmosphere. They're willing to give a taste test. I feel like I am back in NYC where there is authentic hispanic food. I truly enjoy the flavor and the give so much food. (But must say that they can reduce on the sodium)!

The food isn’t always consistent but this place is 100 times better than their location in Middletown. I usually get the chicken stew along with chicken empanadas and the only thing that takes off a star is that they seem to not flavor the stew the same each time and it really depends on the cooks but I wish they could keep a consistent recipe. Other than that I love this place

Food was good but the price for a lunch was ridiculously high for the amount they gave you. I mean there not in the city but seem to be charging big city prices and not even the big city servings. I grew up in a city and a lunch wasn’t even that much and they would actually give you a good amount of food. If your going to charge more than most places at least make it worth it and give a good amount of food.

The flavors were delicious but I was disappointed that when I got a lunch dish they filled the whole container with rice and gave me literally 2 small pieces of pollo guisado that were mainly bone. She asked if it was "okay" and I asked at least for some more sauce. The girl who ordered after me got way more chicken on top of her dish with no question or prompting and I was really surprised. Didn't make me feel valued as a customer paying $13 for a container of mainly white rice.

Unfortunately, I just had a poor experience. I put in a decent size order for a dinner pick up and the food was cold when I picked it up at the scheduled time. The tostones were soggy. The Maduros were cold and hard. The macaroni (which was listed as penne on the menu) was soft and overcooked while the sauce was not vodka sauce - the chicken in this cacciatore style sauce was good. The carne guisada was overcooked, dry and tough. The most disappointing part of this order was the empanadas. It is our favorite dish at Nelly’s but these were cold and the order was incorrect. Going forward, I will likely only consider picking up a limited number of empanadas at lunch time and reserve purchases of other dishes. My experience during lunch hours has been tremendously different than this one.

There aren't many options in the area. As a matter of fact, most of the Caribbean food around here is blah. The original owners were much better. If I had to choose, it would be Maria's near Harriman. There's another Puerto Rican place in Florida NY that isn't too bad but very expensive.

Went to ordered half chicken with rice. The flavor is not bad, but, I expect to get half a chick, all I got is 2 pieces of dry upper chick breast and a small dry drumstick, no thigh. Very disappointed.

Must say I was not blown away by the Chester location. Sub par food dry rice greasy empanadas! To boot the beans had ZERO flavor. Whoever you had in your New Windsor location needs to train the kitchen staff in Chester It’s a shame they shut this location down!

Found this sticker in my food… almost swallowed it. DISGUSTING !

This is my second time ordering from work with my colleagues and it was very unpleasant again. $95 down the drain. The mofongo was in flavorless tomato sauce with green onions and peppers , which I’ve never seen before. That was my meal, I couldn’t even eat it. My co workers all threw their food out. We ordered Cuban Sandwhich, two orders of the chicharron de pollo and the chicken wasn’t fried properly at all. The beans was just broth with a few beans in them. I’m not sure if I’m furious because I’m starving or if it’s just the anger of food being this pleasant. Absolutely disappointing.

2nd time ordering from Nelly. I should've learned from my first experience which wasn't all that bad. This time however, the food was lackluster and beyond. The mofongo was completely tasteless, not even a hint of garlic and barely any pork or chichharon. The pernil was pure salt, loads of grease and green peppers. Diner beware. This is not the place to go if you are looking for authentic Latin food and flavors.

Disgusting. Not only did our order have incorrect and missing items, but the food didn’t taste good. Mofongo was dry and didn’t have any sauce. Empanadas were very light on the filling and lacked any flavor or seasoning. The chicken was completely overcooked and dry. Plenty of better places to get empanadas around here, (Christopher’s, Empanada Master, Zoe’s Latin Cafe).

Almost $100 in food and it was awful. Mofongo was hard with no sauce; rice was hard & dry, completely undercooked as were the Maduros. Toastones did not come with Mojito. Chicken empanadas were soggy. The only edible item in the whole order is the pork chops and they were OK at best. So disappointing and such an absolute waste of money.

If I could give it no stars I would. I went in for breakfast at 930. They open at 9. Nothing was ready I asked for the mangu it was watery. they didn’t even give me the pickled onions, their excuse “we’re not going to make it yet” the lady was extremely rude and annoyed we walked in at 930. They should just open later if they’re not going to have breakfast ready. Very disappointed

A cheese stick whatever is called and an alcapurria... I was starving so I quickly proceed to open my food. As I'm pouring my BEANS on top of the rice, I'm noticing an odd smell. We'll it's coming from the beans. I've cooked beans too many times like to know BEANS shouldn't smell like that. However, not only did they smell, but the looked and tasted SPOILED. Since it wasn't a lot of what I poured into my rice, I decided to eat it because I couldn't cook and a girl was STARVING. Biggest mistake Of My Life ...... Fast forward 6am, I have to go SPRINTING to the bathroom and empty...wait??? more like EXPLODE... my bowels on the toilet for 10 minutes straight... It is now 10:50 am as I write this and I've never in my life had experienced such stomach pain and diarrhea repeatedly.... MIND YOU, while all of this is happening I am taking care of my baby and breastfeeding ._. And I also gave my daughter some of the chicken before I knew the beans were spoiled. What if something had happened to HER instead of me?? Hell would've broken loose to say the LEAST and Nelly's Latin Restaurant wouldn't see the end of it. Please stay far away from this PREPOSTEROUS place, don't waste your money on this wanna be latin food "restaurant" they claim to be.

I took a piece and realized the chicken was spoiled! I immediately called the restaurant and was told to come in and speak to the manager. Upon arrival although the manager was very apologetic he was only willing to give me a refund for the chicken. I explained I didn’t expect a refund for the pernil as it was consumed but I did purchase the stew chicken as a family meal and none of it was consumed including the rice and beans but again I was only refunded for the stew chicken. Fast forward to today and both my daughter and I have upset stomachs so something was wrong with that pernil as well. Never eating there again!

And it wasn’t until my small nephew tried the chicken that we realize that they gave us chicken that had gone bad. When he opened the drumstick to take a bite out of it smell like rotten chicken. And it didn’t smell like it was old chicken that had gotten bad. It smelled like it was prepped when the chicken had already gone bad in the thawing out phase. Apart from that on a different occasion, the small order of beans in our order had a foam on them when we opened them. And there was also another incident where our order of white rice had a very distinct smoked smell and taste to it. Please beware and inspect your food before you leave the restaurant
