¿Barato? No. ¿Caro? Tampoco.
Hands down the BEST meal we had two weeks traveling in Guadalajara and CDMX. split a bunch of the appetizers, the cauliflower, arugula, and steak with mole. The cauliflower, arugula, and little triangle joints (forget the name) were INCREDIBLE. Even the free chips they give you with salsa were good. The service was also impeccable. attentive but not pushy. Vibe was also really nice. A little pricey but absolutely worth it. Do yourself a favor and make this a stop when you’re in the city! AND GET THE TRIANGLE THINGS ROUND 2: Came back a year later and this place is STILL fire. Margarito our waiter even remembered us. ROUND 3: Triangle things are gone! Unfortunately. Broke my heart a little bit. But Margarito is still the man 🤙
Cannot say enough good things about Fonda Fina. This was probably the best dinner we had in mexico and so affordable. Everything was traditional dishes only elevated to the next level. Best Octopus I've ever had. We had the Pork Belly Sopes (Amazing), the Beet & Hibiscus Carpaccio, Roasted Chicken, and the Arrachera Steak. Everything was fantastic. Service was great, cocktails were really good, highly recommend the Mezcal Negroni and the El Pepino.
This was hands down one of the best meals I've ever had. I'm not exaggerating. I think this might even be #1 but I might be suffering from recency bias. But I doubt this will ever leave my list of top meals I've had in my life. The first thing we had was the beef tacos - just exquisite. It was a such a careful and smart balance of flavors. Although it had a rustic feel, it was clearly something that had been carefully put together with meticulous attention to detail and texture. When we had the first bite, I literally turned to my fiancée and said "How are they going to top this?" But they did. We got the octopus and the pork shank. Both were just unreal. They were pieces of art - literally - with the most unique and creative ways to bring out the flavors. I was especially wowed by the octopus. We had tried from many different other places during our visit and enjoyed consistently, but this one really stood out because they had balanced the lime and salt masterfully with a sweet potato puree and quinoa. If you're looking for some Mexican food that isn't just authentic, but elevated and proud. This is a MUST GO. Looking at the awards and lists that this place has been on, it seems that it might be past its heyday (2019-2021) but I can't subscribe to that in the slightest. My theory is it fell out of trendiness for some reason or didn't capitalize on the press. The staff, the food, the atmosphere - it was just incredible. I can't recommend this place enough.
Hidden Gem & simply excellent! Nothing to add to previous reviews.... fantastic food, superb service and a very cozy atmosphere. Almost didn't go in because it was very empty when we got there. And that would have been the biggest mistake ever. We will definitely come back again this week. 5 Stars +++++ !!!
Great experience. Service was quick and nice, food was great, and the cocktail I ordered was tasty. Waiter recommended the rib eye norteño, which was delicious. Came with some tortillas so you could make little tacos with it or eat the steak by itself. Cooked perfectly and was super filling
Came here on our last night in Mexico City and it was the best meal out of our 1 week trip!! Reasonably priced compared to the other fine dining restaurants in the area. The food was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The only thing is we wished we discovered it earlier in the trip so we could try the whole menu! We got the croquetas de esquites, picana de res, pulpo zarandeado, and a tamale with lengua (forgot the exact name). Service was very attentive and the waiters were also funny/entertaining.
This was some of the best authentic Mexican food I’ve ever had. We got the steak tacos and cauliflower as starters. Both so good. Then I got the pork main dish and my girlfriend got the brisket and both were excellent. Great vibes, staff was awesome, really cool decor. This Place is a must when I’m CDMX!

Very tasty mexican food, excellent service and lovely setting. A nice variety of entrees and starters which were good for sharing. The deserts were exquisite too
The food was pretty good. A little underseasoned, but luckily there was salt on the table. The server offered me a drink as I sat down, which I hadn't ordered. I thought it was complimentary. I accepted and was charged for it. I guess it's my fault for not speaking better Spanish. The waiter later offered me a shot of mezcal as an apology. Overall, a reasonably nice experience.
The food is good but we felt everything needed salt, including the tortilla soup. We didn’t feel that anything about the food was necessarily memorable but we could tell it was made with care. The black mole on the enchiladas tasted overly sweet to me, although frankly, I’m not sure just how sweet mole is supposed to be. The roast chicken was cooked really well but tasted underseasoned. You may wonder about the 4 stars in this case - I think the rest of the food on the menu is probably good based on our ordering. I’m just not sure if we’ll be back to try it. Also for what it’s worth, almost every table (6-7) was English speaking, which was new to us. I’m not sure if this is a place locals visit. They have English menus and the staff speaks English. While this is really nice for the restaurant and the staff, it tends to turn us off places.
Underrated gem recommended by locals. Apparently chef turned down a Michelin star - definitely reflected in the food quality (high) and price (way cheaper than the other Michelins) Portions are rly generous - we loved the grilled salad with pork belly and meatballs. The quesadillas were stuffed with (too much) cheese 😅 We preferred this over the other touristy restaurants so much more!! And no reservations required! -- update didn't think this would happen to us but my partner and i got food poisoning the next day :( thankfully it was the end of our trip. just don't know what it's from - the salads? the ice in our drinks? i know its just a single data point but it was the only meal in during our stay where we experienced this.
I came here for a quick lunch on a weekday. It's not super busy then. I ordered a quesadilla with cheese, mushroom and zucchini flower. It has good, balanced flavors and is not spicy. Spicy is the optional salsa that gets served with a few complimentary tortilla chips. I also ordered a cocktail - El Barrilo , a lovely pineapple drink. The servers can speak English. The walls on the first floor have electric outlets every 3-4 feet apart. Quite useful! The bathroom is clean and nice.
The restaurant provides very nice Mexican food. The Suadero tacos are very nice. The Chamorro in molè sauce was delicious. The octopus was small portion and a little bit salty but the prawns were very delicious. The service is very attentive and the staff are very friendly and nice. The restaurant vibe is family but not very baby friendly.
Good bites at a Mexican inspired restaurant. Menu is foreign friendly but don´t be afraid of spices try all salsas. Mixology is good and changes often, music is not loud which allows for a good spot for chatting. I have been back a couple of times and not been dissapointed. Deserts are a good mix of chocolate and mexican flavours. Very decently priced for what you get.
Explore delicious food with any kind of regrets. Amazing menu options, taste flavors and nice mood. I must tell I am very familiar with this kind of food, they surprised me, great variety of cocktail…
Walked in 45 minutes before close, immediately rushed to order by the server who reminded us they close in 40 minutes and to hurry. Guacamole was tasty but closer to plain mashed avocado than guacamole. Pork belly sopes came out sickly sweet, akin to Kraft barbecue sauce. Caldo de gaillina was tasty. Finally, the arrachera angus, and side of grilled vegetables. Advertised to come out with potatoes and nopales as well, came out solo with a side of sad vegetables. The steak came out with yet another sickly sweet sauce, slathered on in an attempt to hide its gray exterior. Additionally the bright red center confirmed it was clearly microwaved. The server said it was cooked on the plancha, which I later realized had been turned off for our entire visit. They offered to cook it up, and it came out rubbery and somehow still red inside and gray outside. It was the first time in my life I’ve had any item of food taken off of the bill. Clearly a case of a meal thrown together so the staff can leave on time. Food quality should stay the same regardless of when it’s ordered. Do not recommend.
I really had high hopes for this restaurant, but we were severely disappointed. To start, nearly half of the menu was sold out. Ok - not a big deal. We ordered two starters, and asked for the waiter to come back for entre order. He came back 5 minutes later and we ordered the ribeye, cooked medium. No more than four minutes after he takes the order he returns with one of the two starters and the steak. The steak was an extremely poor cut of beef, not trimmed, looked like it was par boiled and finished on the grill as it was grey in color. It was cooked rare; close to blue rare. It was so unappealing that we didn't even ask to have it recooked, we boxed it and took it to a person living on the street. Our second starter never arrived until we asked for it again after the steak was boxed up. We ordered pork sopes. The pork was flavorful but the sopes was firm and stale. This restaurant has potential; the menu items are solid. But the preparation and communication needs work.
The food had no flavor. The usual Mexican bold flavors went out the door to leave a soulless example of what people from the US might want to see from a Mexican restaurant. The service was good, but it also felt to catered to an audience from the US: this idea that the plate must be taken out as soon as you finish your first bite, which some people might like, but for me it always makes dinner feel rush. The atmosphere just felt off, too much based in appearance and not on sustenance.
