Conveniently located in the German Village area. Our room was newly renovated with only a couple of plugs not replaced. Fresh paint, new flooring, new tiles, granite countertops, clean. Weekday price was $77 all in. Walkable to historic downtown area.

An older property in a great location that is kept reasonably clean by an attentive, if not always overly friendly staff. In the process of updating mattresses when I was there. Very quiet with free parking. The amenities may be rather basic, but for its location - German Village, Brewery District, and Downtown - I don't know that you can beat the price for a decent place to sleep. Bottom line: a good value for a safe, well located motel.

The room was clean and the staff was professional and pleasant. It was quiet and conveniently located. But, most importantly, it was good value for the price. Of all the local hotels in the same low price range, this one got the best reviews and appears to deserve it.

As my other review stated the people in the office were wonderful, well-groomed, polite, to the point. my husband and I have been here for two or three nights. I'm not sure if I mentioned this in my last review but, I have a service dog and my husband has a disability I am a trans feminine hybrid being and he is in his late 30s I am in my late 40s. They have been so accommodating and helpful and kind. I don't understand the reviews that have been put on Google out of mere hate, apparently. I just have requested quite a few things from them and they fulfill the requests without even finishing my sentence. This speaks volumes in this day and age. Yes I get it....... language barriers suck! But let me say as a mulatto woman that was married to a Hispanic man for over 10 years I never knew Espanol and I still dealt with it very perfectly fine if you take your time with people that are not fluid in what you are fluid in. it shows compassion on both sides. as I said in my other review I guess there is a difference in the entitlement that the world has had us expect and the people like my husband and I that are just happy to have a roof over her heads. I'm also not sure if the gentlemen that has been taken care of us in our journey here even realize that they get good reviews like this. it sure would be nice if this review and my other one was definitely sent to them. Not a fancy motel, but I am happy with it. The rooms are clean. I parked right outside my room. Only disappointment was no breakfast that was advertised on websites. It was perfectly located that I was able to walk everywhere I went.

Don't look like much on the outside but Wow our room on the inside is absolutely great! clean and obviously updated very nicely done well worth it! Im glad were able to stay here definitely recommend it especially on a budget,we are here for event at the arena #JustinTimberlake last tour!

Excellent value, for a place to stay for the night, close to all the bars and clubs downtown. Older place with some updating to the rooms. We will definitely use this place every time we are in town for events.

The service team is reasonable, respectful, and responsive. The maid does an excellent job cleaning and prepping the rooms. This was an excellent bargain!

Too bad the location is a bit off from downtown; where I needed to be, else this place would’ve gotten a perfect score from me. Easy check in, and clean room, with huge king bed. Fairly private lot, yet easily accessible.

I’m giving it 5 stars bc overall it was really good. I stayed here with my friends for New Years Eve and let me tell you we had a blast! We met some of our neighbors too and they were awesome, also going out for New Years and super friendly. Room was spacious, 100% worth the money, my only concern would be it smelled like cigarettes in the room and one of the pictures was cracked in our room but besides that it was amazing. Just bring some air freshener and maybe an extra blanket or towel incase and I think it’s a perfect stay for your money! Will def be staying again

Stayed here for a convention that was in town. Very good location, free parking. Very safe area. The staff was super friendly. The room had brand new carpet, the bed was very clean and comfortable. Small fridge worked great. Shower was very powerful and the towels were adequate. The air conditioner worked fine in the July heat. Coffee maker worked fine. The only thing To complain about was that the desk chair should have been replaced & I also noticed a moldy ceiling tile in the bathroom. I will defiantly stay here again, very good value.

Nice place! Didn't get to try the breakfast since it didn't interest me much, but the location is so close to so many other food options that I didn't mind. The room was very dim and hard to get good lighting with, hope that can improve. Otherwise, it was a nice room with just the right accomodations. Definitely will stay again if I ever need to!

After reading the reviews I was a little (a lot) nervous, but we had a good experience. The gentleman that checked us in was nice and friendly. Cleaning staff was great. There are a couple things that need to be improved: 1- The room was too dark! WAY TOO DARK! Lighting was awful! It was hard to do any work, it was very frustrating. 2- The key card quit working often so we had to go to office to get it fixed, staff was always nice it was just a minor inconvenience. The only other thing was the pillows had a lot to be desired (I’m pillow fussy) so I went and bought one. So if you are a pillow ‘snob’ bring your own. The room was clean, and parking was included in the rates. We would definitely stay there again!

I was very very pleased with my visit. From the outside you're not expecting much but the rooms are very nice. It was clean flat screen television coffee maker my bathroom was clean. Refrigerator microwave everything worked. The staff was amazing very nice courteous helpful just wonderful I would stay at this hotel any time I'm in this area.

Had a great time the only problem is I fell on the property while staying there and cracked my phone and hurt my knee and the manager didn't not check on me. When I asked the man in the morning if he saw it, he said yea but did not care. The staff should check on the people checking in if this ever happens again.

A

Front desk service was ok. The interior is nicer than the exterior and does include a decent fridge and microwave. Only downside was the bed. It was very firm and creaky. While the bedsheets looked like they were washed, we did find hair from both the top part of the body and bottom part of the body. (Docked a star from that). Other than that it was a cheap and quick stay for the night.

Great stay. Rooms were way cleaner than I thought they would be. The rooms have an older and outdated appearance to them, but was perfectly acceptable for the price. Showers were great and had lots and lots of hot water. I would like there to be more light out front so the place is easier to find at night. Entrance is a little challenging to find, and I always drove past the place and had to turn around. Good Wi-Fi as well. I also wish the doors had an extra security latch on them.

I went back after the owner had left a review and they turned everything around, it wasn't the most amazing experience but it was pretty good. The room was clean, no bugs and no dirt! The staff were pretty nice and the location is overall okay. I'd say they did a pretty good job of changing my mind about the place and going back they redeemed themselves, 4 stars!

I stayed at this motel for the weekend while I attended an event at the convention center a bit more uptown. It's located in a quiet part of the city, about a 45-minute walk from the center. The motel is located to a few decent pubs and some nice green areas. You get a card key to open the rooms, but the magnetic key mechanism wears off quickly. At least once a day I had to ask for help refreshing the magnetism. The staff were happy to do that, but it still was a bit odd. It's not the highest-quality place, and for someone who didn't drive to Columbus, getting around was still non-trivial, but a stay here is a good price.

J
Jeff Welch

I liked this motel. It’s certainly not luxury, but the rooms seemed clean, the prices were great, and the location was close enough to walk or run almost anywhere I wanted in Columbus. They are a quick walk to several great restaurants, and the area is very nice, so next time I’m in town, I’ll likely stay here again.

M
Melanie Sayre

An adequate room for an adequate price. No frills and the room is a room. I brought my own bedding because… yeah, well. I docked a point on the rooms because the door stopped working multiple times (registered the key card as correct, but the hinge wouldn’t open… had to shake the door to get the mechanism to work, which was mildly alarming).

Well tonight I made reservations and showed up there the nightclerk let us go look at the rooms to make sure that they were acceptable and if not he would have let us pick out other rooms. Now that was hospitality at its best. So we took the rooms and he's processing the paperwork and all of a sudden something flashes on his screen that says no vacancy All the rooms leak. And this is why they received it three stars. But I will say this the rooms were extremely clean, they smelled of nice fresh scent so Clinton is in the hotel I would have to give them a five star compared to other hotels. The decor was a bit dated I'd say oh late 60s early 70s. But still in good condition and again it was very clean

This place was alright for the price. They had false wood and decently clean room. The lights are ridiculous 3 lights to even see the room, the beds make a horrible noise. When shifting moving or you know. It was in what seemed like a decent area. But what really made me drop from a 4 to a 3 was the fact that there was a person shooting a pew pew in the next parking lot at 2am. The desk clerk did call the police I believe. This probably isn't a place for families with the constant coming and going of clientele. The motel isn't to blame for the violence witnessed so don't take that into account when booking or not. I'm just giving an account of my experience.

Couldn't find any other motel centrally located near downtown, so we stayed here. Rooms are kinda outdated, (nightmare straight out of 1978). Paid 100$ for a queen bed, smoking room. Had to pay a refundable 40$ deposit as well. Floors were not carpeted and dirty. (Like they hadn't seen a mop in quite some time) Just another average seedy motel. Managers kinda trolled around and made me feel rushed to leave way before checkout time. That's about all I can say. 😬 It served it's purpose but better & more modern motels out there comparably priced.

M
Matthew Graphman

This is our second time at this motel. The rooms feel like they've been recently refreshed, but the beds and pillows are poor. Our second night there I went out to a nearby store and bought pillows. The box springs or what was substituted for them made metallic warbling sounds whenever you rolled around in the bed. The shower was clean, but the temperature of the water fluctuated from barely warm to scalding. Overall, it's not priced bad, just know you're getting a 2.5-3 star room.

Nice place with lots of customers... Fully booked because of excellent room rate and nice staffs.... They are very customer friendly and goes out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible... Highly recommended.

Metal bed frame made for a sore back. Remote was missing cover for batteries and heater filter needed cleaned. Best rate in downtown area by you get what you pay for. Otherwise, clean space. Two sinks with American Standard working faucets and smoking rooms available. Free parking. Check your entire room before you agree to it. There is no refund policy. However, check in 3pm downtown is convenient. Camera monitored property. Older hotel comes with minor imperfections. However, great fit for travelers on a budget looking to stay lowkey.

Great location to enjoy German Village. The room was spacious with all the necessary amenities. There was no housekeeping in our room. So we were out of towels and coffee for the second morning. We were able to get a towel and another shampoo and soap at the office the night before. The cleaning in our room before we arrived was marginal. I cleaned all of the hard surfaces in the room and bathroom with supplies I brought. There were some dead bugs in the dust along the wall behind the bed. The chairs were very dusty. If I come back I will bring a hand vaccuum. It was $176 for two nights, so you can decide how budget you want to go.

M
Mike Brockway

It's a budget conscious hotel. Nothing fancy, but the room is clean, and the air conditioner works. That's what I need after a long day of work. I was a bit disappointed, though. Google says free breakfast, and the website says free coffee and juice. I was expecting coffee and a toaster pastry but got neither. The office was in disarray, and the breakfast bar in the online photos must have disappeared during covid. Once I got past that, it's OK, and I'll be back for the price.

G

Very filthy room. Hairs in bathroom. Shower curtain had dye, blood or rust on it. The photo is a picture of my new socks after I walked on the floor for a few minutes. Unsanitary. Front desk man acted like I was bothering him any time I called ... before I arrived just wanted to know if there was a fridge ... guy was rude. Other than that, good location, fair price, close to G.V. ... if you don't want to spend much, and don't mind the dirt...it's OK. ( see photo)

Floors were still so dirty our feet and socks turned black. It's a little janky but it's not bad for the price. Atleast I didn't see any roaches or bed bugs. Service wasn't that great not rude but not happy or pleasant. Also tried to get me by giving me double the price advertised also there's a $40.00 deposit that takes up to 2 weeks to get back small f. Y. I.

This hotel is a bit grimy but do-able. The service was a little painstakingly slow to get checked in but patience is a virtue after all. Although the hotel was a little grimy, the beds were clean and the ac is cold. All said and done you can’t beat the location, a block away from hot food and cold beer, two blocks from a beautiful park and lovely residential neighborhood, a hip coffee shop, etc.

B
Bradley Porter

the rooms are decent, clean, and good location. Do not reserve on the website or pay with a card. I have stayed there n 2 separate occasions and both times within 24 hours my card was used for fraudulent transactions totaling over $600 between both stays. Dont know if its a singular employee or the whole staff. Also have had 2 friends stay here and their cards were hit.

M
Michael Fahnlander

There was hair of at least one previous customer in both beds in my room. Service was fine. For $90 for a night, I'd probably stay at a slightly more expensive place where they wash their sheets regularly.

I stayed here a while ago and wasn't exactly impressed. Almost all the negative reviews mention the same things. They're the exact same issues I experienced. I was tired when finding a hotel so I kind of blindly picked the most accessible hotel, which happened to her the German Village in. Again, I wasn't satisfied but not enough so to leave a review, at first. When I came back and read the Google reviews I was floored, not by the reviews but by the responses to them. Whatever staff member is writing these responses is hurting their business so badly its amazing they're still given the responsibility. If multiple customers mention that the hotel staff is rude it is NOT a good idea for staff to prove that point in their reply. I believe it's now obvious why this hotel has the problems it does. It seems their horrible customer service has started to affect their profit margin so steeply that they can no longer afford working equipment or quality staff. Truly sad. Its never enjoyable to watch a business fail, especially so publicly. I wish the ownership and management of this company the best and hopefully they learn from this experience, even if its too little too late.

Room was refinished nicely but had dirty lampshades, bugs in the overhead light. Some of the furniture was beat up. Not enough lamps in room. Bathroom door didn't close all the way. Bottom of tub was very stained. Office was not open this morning and no help around for extra coffee supplies.

H
HELPING HANDS

Foul odor in the room as if it was mopped with a spoiled mop. I could have requested for it to be mopped again or provided with materials to mop it myself I guess but I didn't care I was just there to sleep. Recovery of forgotten items I give them a five plus I forgot my glasses and they had them at the desk when I went back.

It’s that old saying….you get what you pay for. Mold all over the ceiling in the bathroom and a cracked tub. Faucets spreading water in every direction but down. Coffee maker and the try that its dits on appear to have not been cleaned in a very long time as well as the laminate floor. Very noisy and not a very friendly staff. Spend the extra 20 or 30 dollars and stay somewhere else.🤬

The location is great, felt safe walking around during the late night hours. The hotel itself was not kept very clean and there was a smushed dead bug on our bathroom mirror. The hot water didn’t last very long and the room itself smelled musty and old. We booked a king bed online that was available, but when we got to check in, there were no king beds available anymore so we got downgraded to 2 double beds. Overall the location was great but that was the best part about this hotel. Not sure we’ll be returning.

Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I was greeted at check-in by an extremely rude front-desk clerk who immediately interrogated me about how many people would be staying in the room. When I said “two,” he responded with, “What if I catch you with more?”—openly implying I was lying before I had even checked in. When we went to the room, we opened the door to find it completely filthy: trash everywhere, no sign of cleaning, and absolutely unacceptable conditions. When I returned to ask what was going on, the clerk simply said “they’ll clean it later,” as if giving guests a dirty room with garbage still inside is normal practice. To make matters worse, after speaking with him, he called several maintenance workers over. They stood there staring at us, creating an extremely uncomfortable and unsettling environment. Between the lack of basic hygiene, the unprofessional and confrontational staff, and the overall feeling of being unsafe, we immediately left and refused to stay. Avoid this place at all costs.

i
ion puschila

We walked in, she went to the bathroom, and immediately noticed a roach running across the wall. We left asap because where there’s one, there will be more. The place is in bad shape overall. The attendant said we would get refunded, but we have to contact Priceline. Priceline said we should get a refund în a few days after I contacted them (three weeks later and no refund.) I killed the roach.

R
Ronald Clark

Room was filthy and dirty and smell like mold and musk bathtub had blood or mold in it. Pillows were stained and bed cover was torn and bed smell like it has not been cared for. Also the bed covers had cigarette burns on it even though it’s non smoking. you’re planning to have guest over don’t because they don’t allow visitors outside the motel. If I were everyone that I know I would definitely not stay in this sleazy nasty place. I walked and checked it out and as soon as I seen all I left and call them down the road said I will not be staying there.

What qualifies a motel as a "dive"? I can say I've never been in one until last night when I booked a room at this motel, the German Village Inn. It is clear that those who are responsible for this place just don't care...both by the lack of care to the furnishings, to the glib replies given to people who give comments on this page. Upon arrival at the *GERMAN* Village Inn, we asked the surly man at the desk to recommend a place to eat. He quickly mentioned, as if to get rid of us, the fast food venues within a 2 block walk. We looked at Google Maps and less than half a block away was Planks Bier Garden and a block away was the highly praised Valkers German Restaurant. You would figure that a *GERMAN* named motel would recommend a *GERMAN* themed restaurant! But no...only fastfood places were recommended. The room was generally clean, but looked like it was new perhaps 30 years ago. The word "German" is no longer on the outside Marquee and I doubt a "German" has set foot in this place in decades. The room had numerous "mystery" stains on the walls and the suspended ceiling (kinda like you'd see in a business office), especially in the bathroom where it looked like the wall next to the toilet was going to cave in... The bed makes a horrible *KLUNK* noise whenever you get in it, get out of it or move around...and it's clear that our bed wasn't the only one making this noise...I heard the same clunking noise from several other rooms from within the room I was staying in. In all, the entire "German Village" in Columbus was a disappointment. The entire area seems depressed and run-down and even sketchy ...I will avoid the entire area in my future travels...especially this motel! I would recommend for anyone who want's to experience any kind of German charm, to completely avoid German Village in Columbus Ohio...You will be disappointed! Travel further east to Pennsylvania for a better German experience...Just stay away from this hotel...You'll thank me later!

I have stayed there 2 times the first time was fine. I know the area and understand you get what you pay for. It was a last minute decision. The 2nd time, since the first time was ok we decided we would stay again a few weeks later. I saw a bug crawling up the wall when I went to kill it, I missed of course, and it fell behind the mini fridge, when I scooted the mini fridge multiple roaches crawled out. It was a second story room at the northeast corner of the building. But I assume they are everywhere.

Not a pleasant place to stay in. Rooms are not as shown as advertised, our room was invested with some kind of bug. Management showed careless behavior not willing to help. AC unit wants to work when it did wanted to switch to another room since they have a no refund policy it was like pulling teeth to do so. Very poor equipped and very poor management. Would not recommend this establishment for any future travels.

This place was a nightmare from beginning to end. I arrived at 8:30 on a Friday to check in, a process that should have been quick and easy considering I'd booked ahead of time. When I arrived, there was no one in the front. I waited a few moments, called out, tried to press a button that would I assumed might alert someone to our presence, and still no one. Only after CALLING the property did a woman step out. And three of her children, each whining and crying about something different. The check-in process was further delayed by discovering the room I had booked was given to someone else-- because she was on the phone with someone else about it. After an hour of panicked looks to her computer, I was finally given a "sorry" and a different room. The room wasn't too bad at first glance, just your normal motel room. During my first much-needed restroom break I discovered a thick, lovely long PUBIC HAIR gently placed on the toilet paper roll. The shower was also covered in a weird sticky film that I'm HOPING was soap residue. I didn't discover their next mishap until the next day. The room cards stopped working. When I came down, I was greeted by a man who spoke no English, who told me he couldn't do anything about it but to go find the maid and ask her to let me in the room. He said when the manager got back she would handle it. Already well-acquainted with the maid and her pubic hair, me and her had a rapport and I think she understood just how awful this place was based on her first question when she saw me, "Do you need in?" I'm led to believe this is a major problem given my neighbors also had the same problem. Later that night (still no working room keys, just blind faith I might see the maid again), I discovered something ELSE. They'd charged my card twice for my room! Great! Since I found this out a bit later in the day, the manager was not at the front desk and the guy who was there assured me "it would be taken care of." Really? Without my card? I was skeptical, so I asked about it, and he said they would refund 161 and change to my card, when I was charged 158 and change. I corrected him, and asked if I would receive a receipt. He said I would receive it upon checkout. Anyway, it took two tries for him to get my room keys working again. He questioned me about my technique, like it's difficult to use a key card. Fast forward to today. Another marginally more helpful man helped with a refund and wondered the same thing I did, why a manager would need to do it. I received my receipt so I'm hoping it actually goes through, and next time I'll spring the extra hundred for a real hotel.

The room was clean, but there was people partying outside of my room at 3:00 am and did not stop it/take care of it. I ended up leaving the property at 3 am to head home, and I will not be back!

The front desk staff was very rude and extremely mean. I have no idea why but it was absolutely uncalled for. If they don't want to be in this line of work then get out but I have never been treated like this before. Never stayed there either.i booked for 2 nites over 2 months ago have yet to get my deposit back had to leave early and they made out on a night but I have been trying to get it now for 2 months. The lady lied right to me would not get me a manager and I will never stay again I will gety deposit if I have to take them to court after this though.l will try 1 more time and then I will file with bbc and courts. Room was very clean and it was quiet but for the staff to act like that uncalled for

Really wish I would’ve read the reviews prior to staying here. Just an awful experience, the entry was difficult to find at night, the ability to find a parking space was very difficult, prices of the rooms were more expensive than stated online. The beds are absolutely uncomfortable, they barely put enough sheets in the room, and on top of it there’s people blasting their music early morning in the parking lot while some of us are trying to sleep. Clearly the ownership here isn’t invested in their customers. I won’t be here again and will discourage anyone from staying here.

Pulled up around 10pm to find a place to sleep near the downtown area with my wife. We were given a price online & when we got there in person the price was changed to a much more expensive cost. Once I pressed the guy at the front desk he changed his mind & honored the price. The price was around $100 for a room that had bugs everywhere, outdated furniture & appliances. I was very displeased with the quality of the rooms, so we went back to the front desk to see if we can get our money back. Tell me why they have a no refunds sign that is hidden in the back?! We were not able to get our money back but the man at the front desk suggested he can find us another room without the bugs. The new room had the shower, toilet, & floor stained. The A/C was leaking from the ceiling into the tub. We had a horrible experience & could not sleep well because the springs on the bed were so uncomfortable without many blankets provided. We were woken up by the sound of a woman screaming & crying looking for her lost chihuahua. This woman was knocking on everyone’s doors & asking if we seen her lost dog. The vibes of this place is not the vibe & overpriced. You can tell that they are not invested in their clients. Will not be staying here again & I don’t recommend it either. 0 stars if I could!!!!!!!

Was a total nightmare!!

Worst experience of my life. I went late night with my man to find a place near downtown that is low price. They did not have accurate prices, no refund policy that had a sign that was hidden, bugs in the shower, smelled like an old used microwave that went bad, & everything in the room is old & overused. There was a woman screaming in the morning, knocking on everyone’s doors, crying that she lost her chihuahua, bugging everyone. When I turned in the key the guy at the front desk was so confused. 0 stars if I could. Let me do you a favor & say don’t stay here.

Horrible place, run away from here if you can! I was looking for a “safe place” to stay the night around the Columbus area and the staff was extremely rude, first they told me a price through phone then when I arrived they increased, when I told them about the price through phone, the lady using unprofessional clothes called another member of the team (family maybe?) and they started a discussion IN FRONT OF ME! about the price, the situation was disgusting as a client and from a customer service viewpoint.

D
David Merchant

There were bedbug droppings in both beds of the first room, and after getting a new room it was the same story. Almost every surface was stained, The floor was dirty, switch covers were crooked and missing, the "cleaned towels" had some sort of goo on them. and they had a no refund policy.

J
Jennifer Maginnis

Stayed in room 27. Beds are harder than rocks and are actually unbuilt platform beds on a metal box. The room itself is very mismatched, the tv wouldn’t work without the Wi-Fi password that wasn’t given to us. The fan in the bathroom was so loud that we couldn’t use the light in the bathroom for fear those staying above us would complain. The ceilings in the bathroom and in the main room outside the bathroom are water damaged. The parking is convenient but that’s about the only thing that matches what they advertise on their site. After the terrible night’s sleep we had, we were more than ready to leave when the sun came up. Never again.
