Opinions de Pig in a Pickle Corte Madera
Had been craving BBQ and as always they didn't disappoint. Brisket and Ribs tender and delicious, potato salad and beansnwete both good. Great outdoor dining option too. Mari and her team are welcoming and professional. Always takes care of my BBQ fix. Thanks for being in Corte Madera.
I have to say I was not expecting too much from a bbq joint in an upscale mall in CA, but the brisket point was about the best I have ever had. Perfect balance of meat to fat, and a perfect mouth feel with amazing flavor. It may have been an outlier, but it beat anything I have ever had in KC, Dallas, and various famous roadside joints in SC, GA, and FL. Keep it up, y'all. I may actually seek you out next time I'm in the area.
Was greeted by the previously mentioned "bald" Bartender! Was absolutely one of the funniest and hard working bar tenders I've sat in front of👍👍👍. Hands down thee best brisket I've ever ever tasted!! Man n Cheese is on point and the chips are delicious!!! Definitely going back for more! Highly recommended trying this place👍👍👍
I wish I had more photos of the actual food, but it was so delicious that it was eaten within minutes of hitting the table. Solid, I mean solid BBQ for NorCal - multiple sauces allowing you to spice and dress your food anyway you like. Family platter is the best option for parties or 3 or more - pulled pork is a game winner and ribs are on point. Must, must add the Mac N Cheese - it’s so decadent, and one of the best I’ve ever had.
This place is MY JAM! Best BBQ and sides I've found in Marin County. I've tried all the meats here. You can't go wrong, but I keep going back to the brisket and the pulled pork... and that Mac n'cheese... collard greens and potato salad. So good. Healthy portions too. The Sando's are bomb too.
We ordered the family platter, and chilled outside with the dogs. Brisket was on point and this is the only place I’ve seen offer marbled or not. Sides were each unique in their own tasteful ways, the collards with their slight tang, or the thousand island like dressing for their slaw. Meat was all cooked to perfection and you know I’ll be back to try the butterscotch pudding. Just no room this time.
Amazing service brisket just melts and corn bread is fire the Mac n Cheese is fantastic servers great! Lemon lime craft soda is awesome! Bartender is hilarious! Wife got the pulled pork had a bite man that is awesome!
We had Pig in a Pickle do our catering for our annual company party. The food was awesome along with the presentation. Mari was pleasant to work with. We highly recommend Pig in A Pickle not only for catering (they also cater the Corte Madera Chamber Holiday Party which was why I thought of them for our party) but for anytime. Excellent BBQ and sides. Thank you Mari and your team.
The food is amazing and consistent every time!! Super welcoming space and all the sauces are gluten free which is extra awesome! A family run locally owned place that is leaps and bounds above all other BBQ places I've been to in the bay!! It's hard to say which meat is my favorite as they are all so great! Also the pickles are done perfect! And super reasonably priced!
Extremely grateful we could cater Pig in a Pickle for our wedding for a really good price. Mari was so kind and accommodated all of our dietary needs and guest count changes. Our guests complimented the bbq all night thru to the next day. We had the chicken, brisket, and baby back ribs with salad, Mac n cheese, roasted potatoes, and corn bread. Everyone was so full and happy, it made our wedding day even more merry.
Last night I attended a retirement party for my doctor, and it was catered by Pig in a Pickle BBQ - Corte Madera The BBQ was amazing! I think I had it before, but I don’t remember it being this good. Their ribs were tender and perfect! The brisket was cooked to perfection, and even the sides (I had the beans and potato salad) were perfect… rare to find such a great combination, especially given the challenge of catering (having the food hot and at peak flavor off site). Congratulations on your retirement Flash!
My pal Brosco Billy Whiteshoe's the Tulsa Tornado lives about a mile away from the Pig in a Pickle BBQ joint, so when finished transferring that 1000 gallons of Round-Up from my holding tank into the Larkspur groundskeeper rig I was all set to hook up with the Tornado for a smack dabbity great lunch! And... Man-O-Man did the Pig deliver! Those ribs...oh, those ribs were amazing, and that BBQ sauce was even more amazing...everything was just Spectacular! 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆
I love the marbled beef brisket! It is tender, juicy and full of flavor even without added sauces. The pork ribs are ok a little dry but the sauce makes a difference. The cornbread and slaw servings are large.
Perfect—here’s an updated casual review that includes the friendly staff, housemade sauces, and the to-go sauce urns: ⸻ Stopped by Pig in a Pickle for a quick BBQ fix and was really impressed. The pulled pork sandwich was tender and packed with flavor, and the 1/4 rack of baby back ribs was juicy and fell right off the bone. Sides didn’t disappoint—ranch-style beans were hearty, and the cornbread was warm, moist, and just the right amount of sweet. Ended on a high note with the rich and silky butterscotch pudding. Big shoutout to the super friendly staff—they made the whole experience feel extra welcoming. And the housemade sauces are a major win. Loved the self-serve urns so you can sample as much as you want or take some to go. Definitely planning to come back and try more!
I happen to be an avid Smoker and BBQ enthusiast. Traveled and attended competitions all over the USA. I find many restaurants that attempt brisket fall short. This brisket was by far one of the best outside of Texas and the midwest I have been to. The bark ring went deep into the meat, and the meat was very moist and tender. My second favorite was the Mac and cheese. Perfect amount of creamy cheese and the noodles were perfect. I also sampled some ribs, cornbread, and coleslaw. The ribs would were full of flavor. The cornbread seemed to have some jalapeños I believe in them, but so suttle even a person with the those sensitive to spice would have enjoyed them. The service was quick and friendly. This location is in a bustling outdoor mall with many other places to see. Highly recommend. I do not think I have rated a Bbq establishment a 5 in the past. They are worthy of it, though.
October 2023: Stopped by to pick up takeaway food. Decided to order the family style meal which included three meats, four sides and three sauces. For the meat, went with the chicken, brisket and the ribs. Sides were the mac and cheese, collard greens, parker rolls and the beans. I thought all the meats were great. The chicken 🐔 was probably my favorite. Brisket and ribs were very solid options too. I enjoyed the parker rolls. Would definitely like to eat more of these delicious rolls! Overall, I enjoyed the family meal. I'd order this again!
We were heading to another restaurant; however, we were attracted by the aroma from Pig in a Pickle, so we changed our minds. Their BBQ ribs were so good. My boyfriend and I had a great time there.
Been wanting to try this place for a while now and glad I finally got a chance too. Today I got marbled brisket and ribs with a side of corn bread. The brisket had a nice smoke ring with a good smoke flavor, very tender and juicy. Ribs were smoked just the way I like it great dark bark and tender meat, not quite fall off the bone but still very good. Cornbread was moist and full of flavor.

Awesome experience just walking in the door. Staff super friendly and knowledgeable. Now for the food. This was the best pulled pork Sammi I have had in a really long time. Brother had the brisket sandwich and it, also fire. Tendernisim is a thing. Do your self a favor and try the pickle. Only regret is not getting a second pickle.
Great service, awesome food. Excellent brisket. We showed up 20 minutes before they were going to close, with no problem and with such a great attitude, a welcoming feeling and no rush. We have been here before and will continue coming.

I recently visited Pig in a Pickle and have to say, the star of the experience was definitely the BBQ. The brisket was outstanding—tender, flavorful, with an impressive smoke ring that showed true skill in smoking. It’s clear they know how to do BBQ right. However, the service left a bit to be desired. Our server brought out the food and then didn’t check back at all, which was a bit disappointing. It would have been nice to have a little more attentiveness during the meal. If you’re a BBQ lover, this place is worth a visit just for the food. Just go in with the expectation that the service might not be the highlight. Come for the smoky goodness, and you won’t be disappointed.
The review is only for the brisket. Overall, I found the brisket to be great. It had a terrific smoky flavor and the meat was very tender and juicy. The beautiful pink ring shows the brisket was prepared perfectly. I would have given 4.5 stars if it were an option. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I’m comparing this BBQ to the ones I’ve had In Kansas City, MO (Jack Stack and Q39). The photo is of the brisket I reheated in the oven after buying it about 6 hours prior. The BBQ sauce they provided was tasty as well, one was mild and one was moderately spicy. I felt that the quality of the brisket was better in Corte Madera vs the Emeryville location.
Great BBQ spot in Corte Madera. Excellent brisket, pulled pork and baby back ribs. Sides were great. Service was very quick and attentive. Highly recommend!
It's interesting that the first time I came over I wasn't impressed but the second I came by I kinda enjoyed the food here. The place is in a mall so parking shouldn't be difficult. It's easy to make a reservation online but there is probably not a need to as I havent found it difficult to get seating. Most of the people ordered to go so there is usually some seating available. The seating at the patio seems to be more popular but because the location can get really hot I prefer it indoors. The people working here are usually really young and they do try their best and I'm impressed that they cleaned up without feeling grossed out by the leftover food. I really enjoyed the ribs and the sauces are great. The sausages are not bad either but I think pork ribs are the best chicken on the menu. It can be a little dry without the sauce but that's why the sauces are available. Although they charge for sauces when you order to go but you can ask for sauce when you take leftovers after dining in. I like the vibe of the restaurant even though it doesn't seem like a good fit for the decor of the overall shopping center. Overall I'd say I've had better BBQ but in the Bay Area this is good enough if you miss BBQ.
The BBQ is not bad and I would rate it as one of the better ones in the Bay Area that I’ve been to. That’s not a high standard though as the BBQ action in this area is a bit weak and pricy. The location is convenient to other foods, retail and a lot of parking. Unlike many other dishes, BBQ thrives on authenticity and craftsmanship. It’s hard to explain yet easy to identify. If your BBQ shop isn’t smoking, it’s probably not delivering.

We visited the Corte Madera location this time, and while I hate to say it, I was a bit disappointed. The beef brisket was still incredibly tender and juicy, with a perfect smokiness from the Oak. The rich, deep flavor of the meat was so good that it didn’t even need any sauce—just as I remembered from my previous visit. However, the baby back ribs were a letdown. Unlike the ones I had in Emeryville, these were dry and lacked the same depth of flavor. I used to enjoy the ribs on their own, but this time, I had to rely on the sauce to make up for the difference.
Average BBQ with a decent selection of sides and sauces. We opted for a family meal with pulled pork, brisket and ribs. Nothing really stood out either good or bad. Probably wouldn't come back though.

Today is the second time they failed to get my to go order correct which of course I didn’t check until I got home. I specified to include a couple end pieces in my order of brisket. I actually did so in “writing” in the special request option on computer/kiosk screen as well as verbally to the girl behind the counter. Got home, NO end pieces at all. Second time. What makes it more painful is that you cannot call and speak to anyone, ever. That infuriates me. So I had to email them and naturally have not heard back. Being available to customers is a HUGE part of customer service, so they get a big fat zero for that. The brisket is tasty but not getting what you ordered kind of ruins the experience completely. What’s the point of having a special request option if it’s completely ignored? DO BETTER.
Ok so - A lot of my friends recommended this barbecue house. Honestly? Meh… After paying and getting our food my sister and I started in. I got the 2 meat / 3 side platter. I got brisket, pulled pork, their white cheddar Mac & cheese, baked beans and their tallow chips. The Mac & Cheese was the highlight believe it or not. Brisket was meh, pulled pork was ok but not great, tallow chips - well their homemade potato chips with some seasoning, beans not so bad. Not once did anyone ever come to see how we were doing , if we needed anything etc. I actually waited extra long just to see if they would. All in all - I was hoping for more to be totally honest.
$17 for a simple sandwich is part today. BUT The bread was crumbly like corn bread. If you like that , great. I stopped going to Chic Fil lay because of their cornbread. I don't plan on returning.....
Undercooked chicken? The staff there was very friendly and got my order out within minutes of placing it. I got brisket and a pulled pork sandwich which was delicious. However the chicken I think was undercooked. Look I’m no chef or anything but to me the chicken looked undercooked and didn’t taste right. I know chicken can be safe to eat and still be pink but it just really didn’t look or taste right to me. So I don’t recommend the chicken but the brisket and sandwich were delicious.

The blandest pulled pork sandwich I’ve ever had. A pile of meat with no seasoning, sauce, or fixings. The sauce on the table “saved” it, but had to be added at every bite. The side of macaroni and cheese was good.

Unfortunately this was some of the worst bbq I’ve had and this is my 2nd time ordering so I know it isn’t one off. Chicken was dry and smokey with subpar bbq sauce on the side (heavy vinegar I think?). Cornbread was bland and unsweetened. Beans were simmered in some sort of sauce that doesn’t go with bbq. Haven’t ever done this before with bbq because I usually love it but I actually didn’t finish my meal. The pickles were ok but everything else was rough.
Service was horrible, the bartender specifically. I am unsure if he is the manager but he was bald. The moment we walked in he started to be very obnoxious with us. When my ribs came out there was no meat on the bone. My friend who also got the ribs had plenty of meat and when I asked if I could possibly get another order he told me to take my friends off his plate. I don’t know if he ate the ribs before they came out but there was no meat.
whew!, unbelievable , super rude, unaccommodating, I cant begin go there on this place, WE ALL would have walked out but bc my bro wanted to eat BBQ, so we endured. I'm not doing that again. OK BBQ over priced, uh, NO THANKS!
The I think management it's a heavy van probably around 40 constantly is rude makes rude remarks and draws customers attention last summer I had a drink with me I was out on the patio because there's certain things I cannot drink he doesn't serve what I drink, he should have come over and politely said something that would like to come in the next time and say it as loud as you can as he did tonight he says he's from the country I don't believe so my family is from Appalachian in West Virginia the rest of them is from Kentucky Tennessee, they are very welcoming when you come in to eat this man is so ignorant to have a gripe against a 72-year-old women he is downright sadistic and abusive tonight he drew attention from the people sitting at the bar the food's good that I came from a predominantly black area in the Bay area I have eaten a lot of barbecue he should try eating at Everett and Jones now that's good barbecue I've never eaten in a restaurant in my life that management was as ignorant as he is he is not from the country
Absolute 1 star. Hungry, tried to sit down and use the stupid QR code menu ordering system, it's a nightmare, after 10 minutes of it not working walked out and walked across to Starbird and ordered in 30 seconds.
Brisket mostly fat out of a 1/2 lb almost a quarter of it was fat the bbq sauces were less than enjoyable would not recommend this place...who smokes a brisket with the entire fat cap still on it? Then serves it at a high price.
They wouldn’t allow my pregnant wife to eat outside food there, even though we were both in the processing of ordering bbq as well. Extra surprising because almost all of the tables were unoccupied. Certainly wouldn’t go there for the service. Can’t comment on the food, because we decided not to eat there at all as a result.
I was really looking forward to trying this BBQ, but unfortunately it was a big letdown. The food came out within minutes, which made it seem like it had been sitting for a while. Most of it tasted dry, bland, and over a day old. The chicken was undercooked and pink, and the coleslaw had a sour, off taste. The only item with decent flavor was the sausage. Very disappointing overall. Also very strange that you order on your phone.
