Bonito lugar para tomar la Copa una buena vista al Zócalo y catedral
The view is spectacular. The food is mediocre, the presentation is very poor, and the side dishes are awful. They promise you tables by the terrace, and I think they only move you to them if you spend a certain amount. At the end of the meal, they demand a 10% tip, which we didn't pay because the service isn't worth it. Good for the view, bad for the food.
No entres!!!
No pues con esas opiniones ya se me quitaron las ganas de ir a ese lugar
Rateros deberian clausurarlos!!!
NO VENGAN! ESTAFADORES.
They deserve zero stars but that’s not an option. This place and the whole row of terraza restaurants is a scam. They overcharged us for the food, and even though we took pictures of the menu, they were adding on 45% of our actual bill. They said 25% for taxes (impuestos) and 20% for some fee. We didn’t know that there are no additional taxes because the taxes are already included on the cost, so they scammed us on that and we fell for it. When we challenged the 20% fee, they said they don’t know what it’s for but we had to pay it, which sounds stupid but we didn’t know what to do because they made it see like we had to pay it. AVOID THESE TERRACE PLACES. They will steal your money.
DON'T GO IT'S ONE OF THOSE FAMOUS SCAMMER RESTAURANTS THAT OFFER A GREAT VIEW BUT EXTORT YOU WHEN THE BILL COME. BE CAREFUL WITH ALL THE TERRACE-TYPE RESTAURANTS IN THE CITY CENTER. ASK IF THERE'S A COVER CHARGE, A TABLE FEE, IF THE PRICES INCLUDE VAT, ALL OF THAT. BE CAREFUL.
Worst worst worst!!!! This place is the worst!!! The entrance to the jewelry store is the entrance to this restaurant. It's extremely expensive and the food is super bad!!! They don't take care of you and they don't accept cards! They charge you the gratuity even if it's a party of two. Ooh, and the waiter kept my change! I didn't even want to ask for it. I was so mad! Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!! This restaurant is horrible!! The entrance is through one of the jewelry stores. It's extremely expensive and the food is horrible!! They don't serve you well and they don't accept cards!! They charge you the tip even if there are only two people. Aaah, and the waiter kept my change.
The food was disgusting, it was awful and arrived cold. They also charged a 20% tip and 16% VAT on dishes that honestly shouldn't cost more than 100 pesos. There were four of us, and we each ordered one dish and a drink, and the bill came to 3100 pesos.
The view is great, but I incredulously agreed to eat there just for the sake of enjoying the view. But when you look at the menu, you realize the prices are sky-high. They add tips without asking. I do want to mention one thing: a foreigner sitting behind me was served a beautifully presented horchata. I also ordered one, but they brought me a crappy packet. I don't recommend going there if you're on a budget; they take advantage of their location to impose prices that come from a mental epiphany. Oh, and they don't have toilet paper; you have to ask a waiter for it while everyone else listens.
A beer costs $300, and then the final bill adds 16% for the supposed "VAT" and 20% for service fees—it's an outrageous rip-off! We demanded to speak to the manager, and they told us to only pay for what we consumed, "the real bill." Frankly, we refused to pay that extra 36% on top of their stratospheric prices. Even though the view is beautiful, it's not worth it. Don't let them steal your money.
These types of places should be shut down. Terrible customer service, outrageous prices, horrible and overpriced food. A complete rip-off; even going there is expensive. They're practically ripping you off from the moment they welcome you... you feel intimidated when it comes time to pay the bill. 🤢🤮
This place is an absolute scam. Our bill came and it was 4X the menu price with no explanation and all of a sudden they don’t speak English.
DO NOT GO. Criminals. They increased the price on everything we ordered on the bill. Menu said $280 pesos for guacamole, $400 on the bill. Same thing with everything we ordered.
Terrible, terrible service. DON'T GO. The food is awful and super expensive. A 350ml lemonade cost $170. We ordered BBQ ribs as an appetizer, which were literally ribs with roasted pork loin and a measly BBQ sauce on top. We didn't order a main course, and when we asked for the bill, they increased it by 16%. Everything was wrong 😡
Very nice place, pleasant space, excellent view, but the food is terrible. We ordered pasta Bolognese (the worst pasta I've ever had and super greasy) and the "arrecha" (with tough, red horse meat). Awful flavor and the waiters' service was very bad. Beware! They add the VAT and the waiters' tip to the bill.
The view of the Zócalo is spectacular. If you want to enjoy that, just order some drinks! The food is terrible, cold, and the service is incredibly slow. I insist, the only redeeming feature is the view. The service is expensive and very bad.
The food was awful (no exaggeration), the drinks were basic and overpriced, and the service was terrible. They're selling you the view, and they're charging a fortune for it. I ordered chilaquiles, half red and half green, with egg; they were incredibly salty, and the egg was like rubber when I tried to cut it. Furthermore, the young man who took us to this rooftop terrace promised us an elevator, which was clearly a lie. He made us go up to the 5th floor, and that's not a problem for young people, but for adults. I hope everyone develops the habit of checking reviews before going to a restaurant, because I didn't, and if I had seen the reviews of that terrace beforehand, I wouldn't have gone in and would have saved myself from that unpleasant experience.
The worst place... I went to have breakfast and it turns out they include 20% service and also charge you to sit on the balcony... a total of 110 pesos out of a bill of 220... And also the waiter Jesús and everyone else acted offended... And no manager showed his face... terrible place, terrible service... THIEVES
Awful food and expensive beverages. Staff will take not reasonable and extremely high extra money for tip and taxes. Will never go back to this Restaurant... other customers were also very disappointed...!
The food tasted terrible, but the service was even worse. The waiters don't bother to serve you well because they'll add the tip to the bill. They claim to accept cards, but guess what? They don't! If you need a receipt, forget it; they're tax evaders. Don't go; you'll have a terrible experience.
Bad. They lie to you when they offer you a table at the edge of the balcony and never give it to you. They say they're reserved, or the waiters themselves sit you there to pretend they're occupied. The service is slow and very poor. The food is tasteless and the portions are very small. They charge you a 20% tip without asking you beforehand.
I went to this restaurant motivated by the promoters of the place, who spread out around the Zócalo square, offering good food with a spectacular view from their exclusive terrace. The promoter escorts you to the fifth floor and introduces you to the waiter, who, despite there being three empty tables on the terrace, assigns you a table in the second row, claiming that the captain will show up and assign you a table (a white lie). This doesn't happen, as another waiter immediately arrives and hands you two menus to choose from among their meat and seafood dishes! Prices range from $175.00 (Tampiqueña, arrachera, among others) to $480.00 (parrillada for two), with soft drinks, lemonades, and beers at $55.00 (by the way, they advertise Heineker. You order it and they tell you it's gone? On a Friday at 2:00 PM?). Something that caught my attention, and is very noticeable, is that they have THREE DIFFERENT MENU SETTINGS, one for each row of tables! Will there be different prices? Different dishes? (Something unethical and open to abuse by this restaurant.) WHAT IS A CONSTANT FACT IS THAT OF THEIR 5 TERRACE TABLES (front row), all 5 of them are served. DINERS ASK TO CORRECT THEIR BILL, and this is probably why EACH SERVER HAS A POCKET CALCULATOR. As for the food, it's not well presented, the portions are small (one could say poor), the quality is questionable, and the prices are high; at the end of the day, what you're buying is the view of the Zócalo and the chance to take a souvenir photo. On the other hand, it's a bit odd that when they give you the bill, they do it on a hand-filled purchase slip (one of those forms you can buy at a stationery store for $10.00), since it's supposed to be a legally established restaurant in a tourist area. Furthermore, the tacos de canasta are served at "Los Especiales de Madero." "Los Especiales de Madero" gives you your receipt, and at any cafe in the area, the system is computerized. Because of all the above, they mark up the bill by 20% (which they don't break down or describe), and when you question the waiter, they argue that it's a tourist area with a rate based on that percentage. Finally, this is DEFINITELY a place to grab a coffee, lemonade, or beer, enjoy the view, and go taste some real food at the restaurant of the HOTEL BALCÓN DEL ZÓCALO. Compared to the dishes served at the restaurant in question, the difference is minimal.
As an official local guide for Mexico, it's my duty to warn you about this place. My partner and I, looking for local breakfast options, were persuaded by someone on the street promoting the restaurant. We thought it would be a good idea to have breakfast on a terrace overlooking the cathedral and the Zócalo. Oh, surprise! First of all, the place was packed, and there were only five tables on the edge of the terrace. The other tables didn't offer the view one would expect. Second surprise: the food. In two words... EXPENSIVE AND BAD. To top it all off, the third surprise was that they charged us for a supposed additional service on top of the bill, claiming it was for using the terrace... I say this with all due respect and professionalism: this place is a complete rip-off. I hope this is helpful and prevents others from being scammed.
