Opinions de Sidecar Donuts and Coffee Culver City
Sidecar Donuts is great. I've been waiting for this one in particular to open since it began going through the change from Coffee Bean. The staff was good, friendly and attentive. The coffee is also really good to give the Starbucks across the street some competition. These are specialty donuts though, so don't walk in expecting your dinky donut prices or to be walking away with a dozen unless you got some serious dough. I lost brain cells reading the 1-star reviews, lol.
YUM. I freaking love Sidecar donuts. My boyfriend is a cake donut kinda guy and I’m a raised yeast kinda girl. When I tried a bite of his warm gooey celebration-cake cake donut I melted while instantly regretting my maple bacon raised donut. But then I tried mine and even though it wasn’t warm, it was DELICIOUS. Nice people here and coffee was also good. Parking sucks but we live in LA.☺️
Doughnuts are so good. Not your everyday fried dough. First one I swallowed LOL was the jalapeño doughnut. OMG. Corn/jalapeño bits inside and was surprisingly good. I will be back when in town again.
Been coming here since it opened, always a great experience! Their Monte Cristo collab with Uncle Paulie's was the best donut I've ever had. Atmosphere is fun, and the staff are all friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!
Delicious donuts, especially the vegan! Love that they provide taste of donuts
I’ve had it several times. The coffee is always excellent, the original glazed and the cookie dough cake donut were decent and above average. The female barista with glasses and light brown hair is awesome and super friendly! The stars are for her. Sometimes the other staff does not have the best attitude. That blueberry champagne donut I had today was INCREDIBLE and the best donut I’ve ever had. Definitely worth a try and a 4.5 overall.
Yum, quite frankly a little too good that I’ll have to up my cardio regime.
These doughnuts are super delicious! I prefer the yeast ones over their cake doughnuts. The diverse flavours just burst in your mouth. Definitely a worth it treat! Looking forward to our next visit 😊
The donuts are super high quality, you always see them freshly making them. Whether it's a raised or a cake donut, you can't go wrong. The coffee is also very good. The staff are friendly and quick. Make sure to visit! All the flavours are delicious. If you like sweet with sour, the Meyer lemon and the huckleberry are so good.
My husband my aunt and I came in here for the very first time and we got some other Valentine donuts that they had left especially their strawberry sweetheart done it that we're going to save for later the young lady that was helping us was very kind and patient thank you so very much
Freshly made donuts every time. My favorite Huckleberry, however each visit one gets surprised by new flavors (coconut!)
First time here Everything looked fresh. Told the person it was my first time there. He was very helpful and explained their donut selection and most popular. Choc-a-lot was definitely my favorite of the two I got and my husband's favorite was huckleberry. The freshness was noticeable comparing to other donuts and you can actually see them thru the window preparing them by hand. Took some for a friend. She liked them as well. We will definitely be back again.
Doughnuts were awesome. First time here and will definitely be back again when visiting the area. Everyone was very friendly as well. The young guy with the dreadlocks that we talked to most from VA was super nice and friendly.
Their vegan & gluten-free donuts are life-changing ! Fresh, soft, flavorful, and always rotating new seasonal options. Helpful tip: download the app - you get a free donut and drink! 🍩 They sell out fast, but always make fresh donuts every hour! 10/10 recommend every single time for artisan donuts ◡̈
I love Sidecar donuts but this location was by far the best! They had seating outside and the service was wonderful! I got the basil eggs Benedict donut and wow was that a culinary experience, it's pricey but worth it! I also got the banana nut latte with oat milk, it was yummy, I would just opt out of the walnut topping next time!
TRIPLE BOMB 💣 💣💣 Second time here since discovering this place a month ago. So far huckleberry is my all time favorite. I did try their strawberry cream today and was a tiny bit disappointed. Not on them but expectation I had. I thought the strawberry glaze would be similar flavor to the Asian snacks strawberry flavor (pockey, ying yang). Overall RECOMMEND 🤤
I had one of the chocolate chunk donut, it was delicious! What I like about the donut is that the dough was very cake like. I thought that was unique. The cashier and people there were very nice, service was on point. It’s not too crowded in the afternoon so seating wasn’t hard to find, but there are a few seats given that it’s a small space. Their small parking lot can be a problem since there’s only a few space available. Your best bet is to park in the larger parking area next to the shopping areas. They have so many donut options, I wanna go back there and try their other ones!
New doughnut spot! Everything is handmade from scratch, every hour, in small batches. The staff are super friendly, helpful, and informative (you can tell they love what they do!)
I absolutely love this place! My favorite doughnut is the maple bacon. I share the bacon with my dog 🙈 The employees are all very kind and welcoming. I believe it’s Ashley (sorry if I have the wrong name), but they are amazing and always so great! I also usually get coffee. I like the flat white and the vanilla latte, but everything I’ve had has been good.
This is officially my favorite fancy donut place in LA. Their cake donuts are fluffy, soft, and moist. They are sweet enough without hurting your teeth. The store has a fun party vibe as well!
Just discovered this donut shop on my way home from work. Had to try this place out because it looked very different from a typical donut shop. It is a cashless setup and one can see that they make these donuts by hand and in small batches at a time. They do run out rather quickly because people do buy up these donuts. May end up with a very limited selection to choose from unless one is willing to wait for the new batch of donuts. One have to be very patient because they are making everyhing by hand and are doing their best to keep up with the demands. The wait is worth it. These donuts are incredibly DELICIOUS!!! because they are freshly made with the best ingredients. One can't help but to savor each and every bite. So far, had the Lemon Poppyseed, Maple Bacon and Choc-A-Lot. These donuts are one of a kind experience. Got their Iced Matcha Latte with almond milk. Their Matcha is very high quality caliber and one could taste it in every sip. Also got the Passion Fruit Soda and with this hot weather, this is the MOST refreshing soda ever. It is on a pricey side but with what goes into making these donuts and drinks, etc. it is worth it. Went to this place twice within two days because of wanting my other family members to experience these donuts. Needless to say, they were blown away with the taste.
Gluten free and vegan options. These donuts are soooo delicious. There is a gluten free choice of the week & you can order ahead on the app or online
As a previously hardcore yeast donut fan, Sidecar singlehandedly changed my entire perspective on cake donuts. I remember when this spot first opened up, I was intially disappointed to see that most of the flavors were cake donuts. However, I decided to give Sidecar a shot one day and at the shop, I was warmly greeted by the really kind workers and was allowed to try a sample of the Huckleberry Cake Donut, and I fell in love instantly. The Huckleberry Donut was rich with flavor from the real huckleberries used and not dry at all in contrast to the cake donuts I’m used to. I’ve tried a bunch of their donuts at this point and both the cake and yeast varieties have been equally amazing. Their seasonal flavors also tend to be very good and I love the variety offered. My favorites have to be the Huckleberry, Vanilla Bean Glazed, and Saigon Cinnamon Crumb. I also ordered an Americano one morning and was very impressed by the quality of their espresso. Overall, I can’t recommend Sidecar enough!

Great staff at this location! The Saigon Cinnamon donut with a cold brew to top it off is always a good idea.
Freshly made donuts every time. My favorite Huckleberry, however each visit one gets surprised by new flavors (coconut!)
We got a dozen (plus a free one) donuts last weekend for a friends birthday. We arrived around 5:30pm and was surprised to find that they still had a pretty good selection left. Sadly no Huckleberry which we've heard is outstanding. But we did enjoy a bunch of flavors that I would recommend like Butter & Salt, Sugarfina Bullseye, Susie's Blueberry Pancake, Meyer Lemon, Celebration Cake (my fav), Saigon Cinnamon Crumb and Strawberry Buttermilk. The only flavor that I was not in love with was the Choc-a-lot but honestly I'm usually underwhelmed by chocolate cake donuts so it wasn't bad just not as chocolatey as I had wished.
I’ve been to the og location in Costa Mesa OC several times and many moons ago - and since they’ve expanded, the quality and taste in other locations isn’t just the same and justify the cost per donut imo. If you MUST try Sidecar for the first time - I heavily recommended you visit their Costa Mesa location. Butter + Salt is a classic, tasteful donut of theirs, but it just wasn’t the same here. Gal who helped us out at the counter was very courteous and personable though :) Moderate space, clean, and ample parking.
I visit this place every so often for their delicious Huckleberry Donut. They usually have samples in the morning so I have tried many of their selections. I have not tried any of their drinks. Their app is pretty good. Plenty of free parking.
Sidecar has amazing donuts! The flavors and the freshness are unbeatable. Their coffee is great and smooth! If you have the app you can order ahead (or get it delivered) and you can also get loyalty points, if you don't have the app download it and get a free donut. But be careful you will be ruined and probably spend too much on donuts from there on out. They have a weekly gluten friendly donut, and a vegan donut that is also gluten friendly. The 4 stars is for the specific location. The Culver City is my least favorite location of them all because I do feel like they are not consistent with the quality of their product (often underproofed donuts) and they are often out of the gluten free options (no matter what time of day). But if you go in with no experience of what it should taste like they still beat all others.
Even though it's located at a busy crossing, I knew I had to try their vegan donut once my friend shared they'd have a rotating seasonal option. They only offer one vegan option at a time and this most recent visit was their Vegan Affogato with a light vanilla whip. I got to try a sample before ordering and am so glad I did. I went with this as my donut of choice ($6.50) and even though it's a bit pricey, I really enjoyed this delectable morning treat. The staff here were very friendly and overall was an awesome grab and go spot.
Well done, artisan donuts with a unique taste. If you can, try a fresh one that was recently finished. The price is a little on the higher side, but you should not be eating these that often anyway. 😋
So my son got a craving for some donuts and i wasn't up for your run off the mill ones. My wife said that a Sidecar Doughnuts just opened in Culver City and so away we went. We arrived there and the shop was very impressive with a large side window showing where the donuts are made. The interior was very clean, neat and minimalistic. I liked it. The donuts were on display and looked scrumptious. And away we went! We tried 7 different donuts and I'll list them in my order of preference. 1. Maple Bacon. Great flavor and a surprisingly light donut. 2. Vanilla Bean Glazed. You can actually taste the vanilla in the donut and the glaze is just right without to much sweetness. This was the family favorite for sure n 3. Dulce de Leche churro. Heavier donut but the flavors were good. Not that distinctive but nice. 4. Old fashion. Heavier donut but a great classic. 5. Gluten free strawberry shortcake. Not bad for a gluten free donut. Not my style but pretty good. 6. Gluten free huckleberry. Ditto. Lol 7. Choc-a-lot. Surprisingly I didn't like this one much. Perhaps it was too overbearing and more a club to the head versus the others that were more subtle flavors. Of course my son loved it. I'll definitely be going back to try more of their flavors and want to try their malasada special to see if it's as good as the ones in Hawaii!
Huckleberry donut was delicious Not so keen on the chai latte

Good donuts but is it worth $7 each? Nope. Coffee bar was closed an hour before close time. McDonald’s status, when the employees don’t want to make a McFlurry because they don’t want to clean the machines 🤣 skip ⏭️
the doughnuts are to die for however the service is blah. they ran out of the doughnut I wanted and said it would be about 20 to 30 minutes until the next batch is ready. I waited went back into the store and was told that everything is hand cut and it would be another 20 to 30 mins.. so why would you not tell me an hour in the first place. I wouldn't have stayed around if that was stated.. guess always as them the real wait time.
their donuts are very nice and i love that they have unique flavors and vegan/gluten free options. but this is the 2nd location ive been to where the coffee tastes awful. Its extremely sour and burnt tasting unfortunately and i had others agree. i hope they can invest in a better coffee machine!
Donuts are fantastic and the deals are good, but this is a high end product and priced accordingly. Fair warning to any visiting ANZ olympic team members: Unfortunately not a "coffee forward" establishment. Flat whites are variable at best.

Not what it used to be. Taste wise, would pick Randy’s over Sidecar. Some staff are fine but others are unusually stuck up and intentionally unhelpful. Pass.
Is Sidecar Donuts a bakery, or a psychological experiment in disappointment? I went twice this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and the selection was the same both days: a few lonely, tired old fashioneds sitting there like forgotten relics. No gluten-free. No huckleberry. No hope. I’m starting to think they recognize me. And that they hate me. It could be the fact my sweater is covered in donut stains. Perhaps they thinking I’m cheating on them with other donut shops. But daddy needs his maple bacons, and if Culver City Side Car can’t deliver I’ll have to go to Randy’s. I swear I’ll do it. I swear! At this point, I’m not even sure if the huckleberry donuts are real or just a beautiful legend passed down from Mark Twain himself. Would I come back? Of course. Because hope is the cruelest drug. And I am an addict. I’m addicted to those donuts and I’m even more addicted to disappointment. P.S. the old fashion was pretty good. 2 Stars.
I was really excited to try this new coffee shop out because I love trying new coffee shops this one in particular was okay. Definitely overpriced. Got 2 matchas with alternative milk and 2 donuts I paid $25 😑 Service was below average, you would think since this a new spot and expensive that they would provide bubbly hospitality but no everyone was just there for a paycheck. All these new trendy spots coming about all lack the same thing: Warm and welcoming environment! I come from food and beverage and hospitality Jobs and I treat guests the way I would like to be greeted/treated so its sad to see that it's now very uncommon.

I definitely do not recommend this place. When you order, you may wait 30 minutes to even an hour. They say “5 minutes,” but you end up waiting 20–30 minutes. Very poorly organized.
This place fails to live up the other store locations plain and simple. They overcook their doughnuts frequently and mess them up too. I ordered two strawberry buttmilk doughnuts today, and neither had any strawberry in them like they're supposed to have. If you want sidecar, take the time to go to any of their other locations. The quality and consistency here ends up making it a waste of money way too often. Edit: I gave this location a second chance. Got 2 doughnuts. One was burnt again, and completely rock hard. Why even serve something when you messed it up so badly.
I thought I got robbed when they said it would be over $8 for TWO donuts. First off let me say these are NOT worth the hype, I walked in @ 3 p.m on Sunday there were about 4 people working one of them greeted me. I saw they had samples, not a single person offered me a sample or told me anything about what donuts they had. Secondly, most of the donuts are cake donuts and are INCREDIBLY dense and nothing crazy about the flavor. I bought 2 of the cinnamon donuts and they honestly taste the exact same as some crumb or cinnamon cake donuts you would get at the store for 1/8th the price. Overall, nothing special and not worth returning imo. Also, they advertise how "fresh" their donuts are but when I bought mine they were cold.
one of the worst glazed doughnuts i’ve ever had both for texture and flavor huge disappointment and super pricy too
