I'm here to give py point of view about the Geyserville 2016 vintage wine. I opened it tonight and i'm amazed by the fulfiness of this wine. I didn't taste a such open and still wine from america until now. I'm gladly and happily stunned by the finesse of this wine. I think the fact of the coolness of production area helps to reach to this finesse. Smoky bouquet of wilted leaves of tobacco and fresh red fruits. Perfect balance between ripeness and freshness. Minerality is not so pregnant but we don't really care because this wine is so good. I'm a french people and i want to give some credit and value to abroad wines. I think deeply about the fact to value abroad wines is really important. After ten years sleeping in the fresh cellar, this wine is totally ready to be opened nowadays. But i don't doubt in his lifespan which can go beyond the 20 years. The team of the Ridge Wineyards can be proud to be such smart people to keep an high line of quality and morality about their wines. Bravo a vous tous.
Ridge Vineyards in Cupertino is my favorite hidden secret for wine tasting in the Bay Area. The red wines here are some of the best in California, with incredible depth and balance. They’ve even won multiple awards for them and beaten international competition in Europe. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and attentive without ever rushing us or making us feel ignored, which really elevated the tasting. The drive up is a bit windy, so be prepared, but once you reach the top the views are absolutely fantastic and well worth it. It is a relaxed, scenic, and memorable place to enjoy great wine, and I will happily come back again. In the meantime, this is a great place to pick up some of their smaller batch bottle inventory and bring back home with you.
Very grateful to be hosted for an amazing tasting before heading to the airport. And my bottle of wine made it home safely!
By appointment only! I also can't believe one of the premiere vineyards in the world is in my backyard! No less in Cupertino!!! My old stomping grounds, I used to live in Cupertino and never knew about Ridge, always just heard about some vineyard in the hills...lol. The drive to the vineyard was interesting, I felt it was longer that it looked on the map. The Winery sits at the top of hill and cell phone reception becomes nothing but a memory. Ridge has an incredible history behind it, along with some amazing wines as well. IMHO well worth the tour the staff takes you on. You learn a lot of interesting information about the origin, the vineyard, the wines, the founders and a brief education on Viticulture....very educational and informational. The wines are most certainly not cheap. Ridge is able to command such prices due to its rich history and extremely successful stint in the wine world. One of the most interesting facts about Ridge: It took fifth among ten French and California wines, at the Paris Tasting in 1976, which later became known as the "Judgment of Paris". THE WINE TASTING event that put California on the map as WINE COUNTRY! 30 years later Ridge did it once again...this time they placed FIRST!!! at the "Judgment of Paris 30th Anniversary Wine Tasting" in London and California, subsequently destroying the old world French wines!!! I would say the Montebello stands out the most...absolutely brilliant! The winery itself is an amazing place, plenty of room for parties, an excellent tasting room, wonderful views and even a picnic area. Ridge is definitely worth the visit.
First time visiting. The wines are delicious and everyone we encountered was down to earth & chill. It was really hot the day we came so all the tastings were inside, but we were able to walk around and enjoy the views all to ourselves. Basic tasting was $30/person and they offer cheese & other snacks you can purchase a la carte. They also have a $40 single pour of their Monte Bello Library wine, which was outstanding. The drive up the mountain is pretty twisty-turny but worth it!
Drove up Montebello Road to visit Ridge Vineyards on a beautiful sunny Saturday day. Gorgeous wines, spectacular views, and great service. Carolyn greeted us as we walked into the tasting room. We had a table in the VIP room and she gave us a history of Ridge wines, their vineyards, their partners and explained the different varietals. It was an excellent experience. Although the steep drive may be a challenge, there is plenty of parking and the wines are worth the experience. Thank you Carolyn!
Great experience! The drive up is a windy steep road so best to have a DD as it may be tough to get an Uber after your tasting. The winery was easy to find though, they have several signs along the way. The view from the winery is incredible and they have a viewpoint spot on the property. The tasting area is shaded which was great because it was hot when we went. The wines were delicious and the service was excellent. They took the time to explain each wine.
Wonderful wine, amazing staff and a memorable view. I always like coming up here for a picnic before heading in to pick up a bottle or two. If you're a member, don't forget to take advantage of the occasional private tour and tasting.
Hidden gem in Cupertino. Didn’t know they have this location until recently. Zin is their specialty. + As everyone said, the view of silicon valley is spectacular and the drive up itself was quite fun. On an affordable end ($20) and we ended up buying 3-4 bottles.
The Ridge Vineyards that helped establish California as a world class wine making area. Fantastic wines with a rich history. Worth the roughly 20-30 minute trip from the heart of Silicon Valley. Great views too.
Josh is awesome- very wise and knowledgeable about wine and passionate about history of this great place.
This is the winery that brought NorCal wines and American wines for that matter on the world map. Pourer was new but seem to know enough of the wines to make the experience pleasant. We were offered an add on and also a revisit. First pour was the Chardonnay, then couple of zins, then a Syrah, and a Cabernet. Overall this is a great outing, the drive up is windy as the road snakes up the mountain and the views of the valley and the bay in the distance was amazing.
Ridge vineyards is a hidden gem! Had such a lovely time wine tasting here with Greg. The drive up was windy but beautiful, with views of some of their vineyards. The tasting room is lovely and was busy when we arrived, but we were seated right away and got started with our first wine. All of the wines in their tasting were lovely! We also tried the add ons, which were good but I’m not sure if they were worth it. Our host, Greg, was very knowledgeable and hospitable! He really made our tasting fun and informative. Can’t wait to return and bring friends along to share in such an understated and delightful experience.

The Library tasting is outstanding and Jul took great care of us. We enjoyed a walk to the vineyard with descriptions of several blocks and a view on the ridge with more history and winemaking information. Then we moved to our private tasting room to taste and learn about the vineyards , wines, and an amazing variety of their Library wines (wines from past releases). My personal favorite was the 2010 Monte Bello Cab blend. The charcuterie board is perfect for drawing out additional flavors from the various varietals. What a terrific experience!
We had an amazing time and ended up buying several wines we liked. Very knowledgeable team. Special thanks to Tony and Nick for their explanation and service!
Nick and Cosmo were fantastic hosts to our tasting. Their wines were lovely and our only regret is living in a state that alcohol cannot be mailed to, otherwise we’d be members in a heartbeat. The property itself is stunning and made the visit even better. We’ll absolutely return again if we’re in the area!

We actually discovered Ridge while in Oslo, Norway - we had a glass of Pinot Noir at a wine bar there and it was phenomenal. Come to learn that the vineyard is an easy 35min drive from our home! So we booked a tasting (tastings are by reservation only) to *hopefully* also buy a bottle of this pinot noir that we fell in love with! We learned that their pinot noir is made in very small batches, and not a single one on the menu this time of year - sure, I'm disappointed, but we're also here to try their other wines. Our tasting menu included a chardonnay, a 100% zinfandel, their geyserville (~70% zin), and their estate cab. every single wine was fantastic! I would have purchased one of each if they weren't so expensive. Ridge Vineyards has fantastic wines and I highly recommend them. I took off 1 star because they seem to be all about exclusivity, in that they really push memberships. at every opportunity, they are mentioning all the things their members get that non-members don't get - from wine lists (an entire front and back menu of wines), to free tastings and exclusive events. Perhaps because of this, the vibe (from patrons and employees alike) feels... a bit uppity. I don't think you can purchase by the glass (although, to be fair, I didn't not ask - but there are no by the glass prices listed anywhere), which is part of the winery experience that I enjoy - have a tasting, then sit back with a glass and enjoy some more time. Overall, we did enjoy our time at Ridge. The employees are very knowledgeable and informative, and very attentive. And *most importantly* the wine is fantastic!
My wife and I have been members at Ridge since 1997. It's always been one of my favorite venues and we're what's known as "two club" collectors. We participate in the Advanced Tasting Program to get more accessible wines that don't require multiple decades of storage and we get a case of Monte Bello each year as well. For bigger events, Ridge has moved to an assigned seat, reserved time slot format that, well frankly, sucks. No more bringing the picnic basket and setting up, no more tasting and buying a couple bottles to share. No more trying to get some pours from the "Old Ridge Drinkers" bottles from the 70s and 80s. It's torn the heart and soul out of what made Ridge events special. I think they've realized the error in their ways, to some degree, and events like the tasting on the evening of Jan 18th harken back to what I love about visiting. There was no fixed seating, we were all free to mingle and chat with other patrons to our hearts content! We had a fabulous time Thursday night and really hope they revert back to more like this and less of the events where we just feel like sausage meat being put through the sausage making machine.
Scenic winery on top of the mountains with good wines and staff. We biked up there and it was quite a climb. Nice patio and picnic areas. The wine flight at $15 is a reasonably priced and offers good wines. The rose, chardonnay and the cab are good, particularly the 2015 cab is big; it needs a few years aging to become further refined.

Service was subpar, we waited almost 20 mins just to be acknowledged (arrived at our reservation time). It’s so unfortunate since this place came highly recommend from a friend and the view is truly stunning. Wines are average. We are so bummed about the service & how we were treated.
We made a tasting reservation and were planning on picking up some bottles. Got turned away and had to cancel our reservation as soon as we showed up because of our sleeping baby. We were the only ones at the tasting room at that time (this was a weekday). I didn't think to check for a no kids policy since I've seen kids here years ago and have not had issues at other wineries.
