Been going their even before the new building was built very good people and excellent food and service highly recommended!
I love their burritos. They are not as greasy and they are disillusion. I live in Arlington and I make a 30 min drive one or twice a week to buy this burritos.
Old school tacos. We have been coming to chanos since I was a child. They make their tacos Jalisco style which in other words means authentic. Its a simple taco place where the meat takes center. The carne a sad a and lengua tacos are simply amazing. The burritos are filling. The carne en su jugo (beef stew) is one of a kind. This place was around 20 years ago and will be around another 20.
I have been going here since I was a toddler. I'm in my 30's now and I live 30 minutes away still manage to go.
Great food and excellent service..fast and friendly people here.. lots of space to bring big families for a meal .
Food is good, depends on the cook of course. Service is pretty good overall. Kind and pretty quick to respond.
Amazing place. people say things about this place that simply are wrong. have visited this place for more that 16 years. same amazing flavor try the best tacos de lengua ( tongue ) in the world and the al pastor and the best of all carne en su jugo best mexican soup (stew) AMAZING FLAVOR!!!!!!!!!! my children all love this taco shop and my 6 year old girl is always wanting to come here and the best mexican snack are those pickled carrots and jalapenos. these tacos are better that any american place taco shop. great price will contuine to support this place and com P.S Don listen to the other comments
Food is awesome love this place. Don't expect some nice fancy restaurant. Just good food Spanish t.v. if soccer is on that's what's playing. Love it and always looking forward to going again. If only they had spicier salsa.
Best Taco place in Dalla This is the best Taco place in DFW. GREAT OWNER. It's family owned so they treat you like family. Props to Orlando getting down on the grill all the time. This is my favorite place to eat. I love me some Chanos tacos!!!!!
Best tacos in Oak Cliff
The carne en su jugo is perfect every time! They also offer menudo every day! The rice and beans are cooked fresh daily. Definitely our go to place specially on overcast days.
I've been eating at Chano's since I was 5, and the food is still just as amazing! It's ridiculous how good this food is. It's always worth the drive to Oak Cliff to get one of the best burritos in town.
Great food, however the place could use some new paint and work on the cleanliness or appearance of it, looks old and dirty, but the food is well prepared and good.
Awesome food even when the storm knocked the power out. But it came back on. It was 1 of the best moments that I had in forever. Would recommend to everyone.
This place is awesome. I grew up down the street from this place and have been eating there for years. I crave the burritos from this place at times. Burritos and tacos are great.
This is one of the best tacos&other mexican dishes in the OakCliff area.I've never had a bad experience since i've been going there from the year 2000's.Awesome service.
Went on a suggestion from a friend. I wanted good authentic tasting tacos and they did not disappoint! Friendly service. They don't speak much English. Clean and fast service. I will be back! I got 4 chicken tacos on corn shells.
Been knowing this place for years, and don’t care about the 30 minute drive just to get this dam bomb carne asada burritos and please let’s not forget the carrots in vinagre and tacos de tripa and tacos de lengua…ohhh and the horchata ….100% recommendation
This place has allways been consistent with their food. I've been going here for 30 years and the cook has always done a good job with cooking. I hope it stays for a long time.
Love these Tacos! Menudo is clean not greasy and they have an option for a small that is actually small! This hits the spot after waking up a little hungover! I've been coming here since I was about 6 years old. They used to have a little spot on that strip before this updgrade. I enjoy coming here for the food and memories 😄. The pickled carrots are sooo good and crunchy. I do wish the hot sauce was hotter but overall I love this place!
Wife took me here when we first got together.. And I love it! The trademark carrots and jalapeños in vinegar are awesome.. Never have I eaten something like this.. The Tacos and the food is authentic Mexican food.. We have to travel from Mansfield every time just to eat good Mexican food.. I've tried and none of the Mexican places I've been too in Mansfield compare to the real Tacos from here.. Although I've been told by a particular.. Establishment called Pepper's Tacos (Mexican tacos) 😂here whom I made a bad review about.. That obviously I don't have good taste for food and that obviously there establishment isn't for me.. Lol.. I mean what humble business puts down a customer because of one bad review.. Lol.... Chanos has been here for years and always has business.. That tells you alot about a restaurant.... Keep up the good work guys yall deserve all the good reviews cause we'll your authentic.. But what do i know?? Right..
Perfect menudo and delicious tacos.
I absolutely love the tortas here, I always went here with my papa he would buy me one and we would have wonderful fun memories there . Great view to watch the low riders and classic cars drive by
It’s a business that has been around since I was a kid. The food is authentic Jalisco Style Mexican food. It is fantastic a must try if you want great Mexican food in Dallas. Please support their small business great and friendly staff.
Been coming here for years about 30yrs and I love it…. Everyone in my family knows this place for it’s carne en su juga and tacos with the carrots 🤌🏾🤤
great food, great staff, nothing bad to say. i live half an hour out and i come up here all the time just because this stuff is that good. it’s a *little* on the pricier side, but if you can stop by and eat, do it.
We've been coming here for 20 years before they had their current building... there is a reason and it's the great food. HUGE burritos and love their salsa. The pickled carrots and celery are 💋
This is one of our favorite spot to stop in and grab some asada tacos. I typically have taco and a torta. The tortas are amazingly toasted and the rest of the sandwich is delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They always will make the tacos with flour tortillas for our daughter, she really doesn’t care for corn. My wife grew up in Chicago and has a spot that she will always get tacos from when we visit, this is the closet for her to home that she has found.
This place is absolutely 100% the bomb!! I ordered 5 Tacos of Fajitas and they were delicious. The cook did an awesome job at making my food plus my mom's burrito fast!! The waitress was so nice and even had a friendly conversation with us. It was about $30 for my Taco's, Burrito, side order of rice and beans + our drinks. I'm telling yall, it's sure is worth it!!
The only reason I’ve been coming here for 10 years is for the burritos 🌯 the service is terrible the restaurant atmosphere is a nightmare the “pick up window” could use a little help with how much business they have coming in left and right they have one waitress, she’s also the host who seats you, the cashier, the order pickup helper, the busboy and the person taking the calls maybe hire another person to help in her situation so the business can run a bit smoother otherwise you get looks for trying to pay for your pickup order by the patrons who’ve been dining in for the past hour and only are ready to pay the minute you step in front of them as you walk in to pay ! lol
Ive been going here since I was 5 and ive never stopped. As a matter of fact. We went Saturday and we're going again this week. 😋
I love coming to Chanos ❤️ I’m 37 and have come here since I was little. And my parents have come here since they started dating. Best place to eat tacos and pickled carrots. 👍✨
This place has been here since I was little, obviously have a bigger building now, next door was so nostalgic. This place never fails to please our stomachs! Will forever be my life! Tienen mucho amor por su comida!
What can I say? Taqueria Chanos has been a beloved part of the Oak Cliff community since the 1990s. Originally a small, quick-serve spot, it quickly became a local favorite. I first fell in love with their carne asada burrito years ago, and the rest is history—especially when paired with their delicious pickled carrots. I’ve been coming here since I was 15 years old, and every visit takes me back to those days when cruising through Oak Cliff was a popular pastime. Low riders, muscle cars, and tricked-out rides were everywhere, and the sense of community was strong. Taqueria Chanos has stood the test of time, continuing to serve great food and great memories. I highly recommend stopping by and trying their amazing burritos!
Never ever have Ii stopped here and we decided to have dinner today. I just got 3 carne asada taco's. And the Mr had 1 taco de tripa, 2 tacos de pollo. It was actually daam good. The service was nice and welcoming. The food temperature was perfect. Seasoning was all there. Salsa was not too hot or too mild and had a nice flavor. I will have to try the menudo since it looks like they serve it daily not just weekends.
One of the older and authentic Mexican restaurants in Oak Cliff. Family owned. Well known for their carne en su jugo and burritos. Their tacos might be small but full of flavor. Estilo Jalisco. You can still catch Chano cooking & putting his skills to every plate he makes. Come with an appetite and order a burrito, it will keep you full for days. The carne en su jugo is a specialty and a must have every time I visit.
Burritos here are the best thing you can get. Loaded with beef and really big, worth the price. You have to wait a bit, however, bit it's worth it.
One of my favorite places to eat at since i was a child. Nothing has changed about their food and thats what i love the most! Definitely worth the cost of the food. I got what i paid for!
Chaaaaannnooooossss burritos are awesome and always a classic. Menudo tasted clean, a little under salted but I prefer it that way because I will not eat overly salted food. Stop here if your in the area.
I am here now. The staff is not good. The waitress messed up on my order. The cook kept looking at me because I wanted my order corrected. I have never been treated like this at this location beforehand
I come for the burritos only, used to be really good I'd drive from Arlington just for the burrito, Mas season in the Carne por favor 🙏. I still enjoy the burritos they are huge
My family and I have been coming to this taqueria since I was a kid. Now, I get to bring my own family. It's a seat yourself kind of place. Over the years the prices have increased significantly. The food quality is still great and the ingredients are fresh. Real, home made Mexican food.
I have been craving their beans. A group of us arrived on Saturday morning hungry and ready to devour 5he varied menu. One of our members had never been here. We all left full and satisfied. Everything from breakfast, lunch and dinner b4 11 a.m.
I've been coming here since I was 5 years old and the prices have changed drastically. It's crazy what gentrification is doing to Oak Cliff 😳 other than that I do recommend eating here, just be prepared to pay almost $3 for a tripa taco... Lengua burrito and tacos are amazing.
Rustic and delicious best describes the food here. Service was prompt and with the warmth you'd expect from a family operated business. It was moderately busy during our visit. So I'm not sure how that would be affected when lunch is in full swing. I had the "carne en su jugo"(beef in its juice). The flavors and presentation brought back childhood memories of sitting at a food stand in the local plaza in small town Mexico. On the table sat homemade pickled carrots and jalapenos. Crunchy, tangy and not overly spicy. They were the perfect pairing for the dish. Being the big eater that I am, I also ordered a barbacoa and a beef tongue taco. The barbacoa is very rustic in flavor and perhaps not what the average American would be used to. The beef tongue was tender and juicy however I feel like it could have been seasoned or salted a little more. Overall it was a good experience. Hope to have them around for another thirty years!
burritos are HUGE and at a reasonable price. They gave jalapenos and carrots instead of chips and salsa which is more authentic but not great for someone with mild taste buds. The menu was on the walls so it was a bit odd, but the food was still great and the service was good
Very interesting I pass here many times the soup was good at first skeptical so I got it de constructed but everything it comes with works! Very yummy had the Mexico D.F taco style where the tortilla is dipped in water and grease then quick flattop The condiments were good pickled carrots As far as tacos 1 n 5 Barbacoa 4 good taste a lil runny Asada 2 no flavor or salt Lengua 2 no flavor tasted watered down Tripa 1 over crispy like it's been re fried no flavor to much grease If they improve taste ill come back
This is a comfortable, clean family restaurant in the heart of North Oak Cliff. The server took my order right away and I was interested to be offered a choice between canned or bottled Coke. I ordered a carne asade burrito and it arrived quickly. Really tasty and so big I had to take half home for later. Great place.
Sometimes food is too salty and others the food is so bland I grew up coming to this place but food has definitely gone down in quality
It was decent. If you're from out of state that have original taco trucks, you might like this place. Considering that I've been looking for a good taco place. This place was only decent, I personally dont think it was worth 3$ a taco.
A few years ago I use to eat here every Saturday morning after cutting my hair across the street. Back then they use the serve good portions and the lengua was not served with as much fat as it is now. They should change the menu to say "Lengua taco 1/4 meat the rest fat". Some people are ok with it but I prefer more meat than fat. Once I trim it all off that's what I end up with 1/4 of a taco🤣
If I had it to do over again...I wouldn't. Order was missing a coffee on the ticket and extra insta coffee to smooth it over was too much to be bothered. Hard papas in breakfast tacos. Go only if looking to be sub for mediocre breakfast daddy.
It has changed and food isn't as great as it used to. All their food is delicious but personally my favorite is Carne en su Jugo. If you like a hearty soup with pinto beans, onions, bacon, radish, cilantro and carne asada you won't be disappointed!
Street tacos at $2.50 are good price. Not the best I have had but they were better than some others. Overall if I were in the area I would stop again
I heard good things about their burritos so I really wanted to try it but the flavor was ok, to much beans on it and the burrito al pastor just can't taste the meat the fajita one was a little better but nothing out of this world.
It was a clean decent restaurant as always. I’ve cisit this restaurant on and off since 2020. But compared to another location close by. The meat has no seasoning in it. As far as the carne asada street tacos. The agua frescas are not made with fruit only mix and the price wasn’t great. 8street tacos and 2 agua frescas came out to $29.50. The price is not worth the value to those two items. I’ll eat here again but I won’t pay out of my own pocket.
They used to be really good when they were at the old location, been there lately and they lost their Sazón. Tortillas are good but the meats need work. Always like the Jalapeños and carrots they give as appetizers
First time here, I ordered a chicken torta and asked if it came with beans he said no but we can add. Paid left , was ready to enjoy my torta , well they put whole beans de la Hoya .. I was not happy with that .. This torta would have been good if they smeared refried beans instead. The always thought refried beans is what you put in a torta and not whole beans ….
The food is good but the customer service is horrible. When they finally serve you they never come back. And if u want to order anything else or need anything u might as well get up and do it yourself. No atienden bien. Los tacos están buenos pero el servicio lo vale madre.
Ordered a burrito from chanos tacos they are big but have zero flavor meat needed more seasoning beans tasted like they were from a can I don't know my wife has eaten here before and said it was good but was also disappointed that day . Had to .throw it away
I don't recommend this taco place. I am new to the area looking for a quick bite. I figured let me give them a try. I ordered 2 tacos, 1 steak and 1 barbacoa with a side of rice and beans. I was truly surprised how I got one taco right (steak) but the barbacoa was all fat, literally, no meat but all fat. I got more rice than beans in my order. Goodness, hope to find the right taco joint in this city.
Al Pastor doesn't have flavor, and a fly kept buzzing over my food. I don't think I've had Pastor this flavorless kind of sad because not even the lime or salsa could save it
Been going there for over 20 years the food used to be good but not anymore. Hadn't been about 2 years, Dad and I both got a burritos and it was mostly lettuce and beans with hardly any meat in it at all. Very disappointing
The food is ok. Is a lexpensive for the kind of place and food if you eat 5 tacos (very small) and a drink you pay about 13 dlls. They overcharged us for 2 tacos so about 5 dlls, we couldn't make them understand no matter how nicely we explained how many we ordered. For us this taqueria is one and done. Wish we have read the reviews before we walked in.
Been here a few times. Too scared to try the tacos, have had friends and family get sick from the meat. I've only had the safe items; like the burritos & tortas. Those are too easy for them to mess up.
The food was alright, they are expensive, for 1 burrito and a fajita plate came out to $30, and they dont have any table skills, they brought everything individually, it was just awkward, and they never come to attend the tables. Wouldn't go there a second time.
A torta pastor that was the size of my palm not my hand . french fries that you had to pay extra for and because it doesn’t come with the torta… two Barcoa tacos that wasn’t package well , so the juices and grease was all over the bag for a pick up. this place was overpriced and The meat no flavor.
Are you serious charging $2.50 for those tiny tacos? I can understand that price for bigger tortillas and more filling, but what they are doing is out of control. Go somewhere else, spend your money wisely.
Tacos are super small, everything is tasteless. We ordered Tacos, burritos, and tortas and everything was tasteless. Everything also had very little meat in it. 10/10 wouldn't come here again.
Horrible service and food! Also, owner Chano is super rude!!! We went to see one of the buildings he is renting and he does not know how to talk to people! He’s rude and extremely unprofessional! He wants to rent a building and doesn’t even have it ready for move in. When asked when the building would be ready to move in he didn’t know. The building was trash! Also, has undocumented people working for him including a homeless woman that was doing construction labor work. Everything about this experience seemed sketchy! He wanted the money for the deposit to a building thats not even ready!
The food has no flavor and they get the orders wrong. The aqua fresca taste like koolaid instead of fresh fruit. The service sucks and they have a little kid helping serve customers. I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE
The food was horrible no taste , to expensive for the tasteless tacos I got, were not asked if we wanted Lemmons or anything and the person taking orders had no good customer service training I guess, will not be going back..
Probably not my taste. I come from san antonio any surprisingly I was to receive a bean and cheese taco. Beans were not refried. They were whole beans. And their food was not to my expectations.
You could consider it to be authentic Mexican food. Prices are average and service is below average. My favorite here is the burrito which is big enough for two people to share. Caution: when you ask for the check, they only give you the total and they don't break down each item you ordered. In addition, they add tax on each item they ring up and then again at the end so you wind up paying more. I had to explain to the cashier why they were doing is not right. It took several minutes and a few arguments for them to fix the total. I would NOT recommend this place to my friends.
Worst experience at an authentic restaurant as you can get. First time coming to try this place as we are not from here and were in the area. As we sat down at the table we were brought an "appetizer" plate of pickled carrots, didn't like it at all. Was first time at mexican restaurant where served that instead of chips and salsa. After ordering a side of rice we were brought out a small plate of rice priced $1.50 and was barely a few spoonfuls not even worth it. Was told by waiter the cook is the owner and actually stingy with the food. If could rate 0 stars I would. Have to order off the menus on the walls with pictures used from google. Worst part was where most of us ordered tacos. I love tacos and was my FIRST time ever to not eat them all! At $2 a taco been the most expensive not good at all tacos. So damn greasy and no good flavor on the meat. They use double tortilla which in some places are good and able to take off the extra if you dont want to eat both. These were just stuck together making a thick small greasy ass tacos. Have had not so pleasant food experiences before at other places but this restaurant is on top of the list. Theres is no passion in this restaurant where you can taste it in the food but not here. Surprised by the few people that would go there and eat comfortable. My pregnant sister was disgusted by the food. The rest of us as I'm writing this review are heading back home with stomaches aching from the greasy food.. This review sums up how this restaurant operates. If you read this review before heading to that place.. You have been warned. Do Not Try!
Way overpriced. Bathrooms are filthy. And something is off about the cook when he’s secretly telling the cashier something as she is ringing you up. Ask for an itemized receipt if you decide to check it out. The price is not worth what you receive.
Was charged $15 for salsa in a small cup. Gentleman taking order on the phone the whole time while interacting with customers. Was RUDEST person I have ever encountered. Insisted that I only pay cash, not debit. Will highly discourage customers from ever trying this establishment for food.
Meat tacos were very dry and meat was hard like if they were over cooked and reheated in oil. Sad there food used to be really good. I even asked for there management to see if it was the same one. Response was that they were under new management. Sad.
Worst experience at ever at a taco place. Salsa needs improvement, not spicy at all, as a hispanic I was really disappointed with this place. Ordered the beef tongue tacos (tacos de lengua) which needs more flavor, it was bland. My daughter ordered a quesadilla which she highly disliked, how can anyone go wrong with a quesadilla? The only good things were the tortillas and bottled drinks.
I was enjoying the food until I found a hair in my tacos and then my husband found a hair in his plate and they did not take it off our ticket or discount it. First time visiting and as well as our last. Sad.
Very stingy with their unseasoned meat! First off, I ordered a torta de barbacoa and they brought me al pastor. I didn’t complain cause I just wanted to have a peaceful lunch with my family and it really wasn’t a big deal to me. Food is food when you’re hungry. But the little bit of meat it did have tasted like grease balls. It had no flavor. The torta bread was the only thing that tasted good. My kids fajita tacos tasted like corn tortilla with sprinkled meat glitter. Again no seasoning! No flavor! Just tasted like lard/ manteca. Don’t get me wrong. I like greasy food. But it’s different when it has no seasoning and you can taste the lard/Manteca. Server was nice, even tho I got the wrong order. Food is overpriced for the amount they serve. I didn’t have the energy to make a scene. We ate, we paid, gave our thanks, and left to never return again.
I been going to this place since I was a kid . This place use to be so good . I recently went and ordered two burritos . The burritos had nothing but beans that tasted like they were a week old and there was no meat in it . My stomach actually hurts after I was done eating it . I’m Mexican I know the taste of old beans . Maybe the old man cooking thought he can get away with selling me old beans with no meat burrito because I was Mexican American . But I will never go back there ever again and the sad thing that was my parents favorite place when they were next door in the smaller place .
First, I ordered an agua fresca horchata flavored. The water I ordered taste like the "zuko" packets sold at the supermarket, no flavor. They could've added a little bit of sugar to at least put some flavor! I ordered a torta de carne asada and was given a chicken torta. After letting the server know that my order was incorrect, she stated "I heard you say chicken". The kitchen brings out the torta de carne asada with the same bread (soggy) and with very limited meat. The torta should be called "sour cream torta". The meat was bland. Don't come here if you want flavorful food. The only flavorful thing here were the jalapeños and ketchup. The ambiance is okay, they do welcome you as soon as you arrive. Overall, wouldn’t recommend the food is DESABRIDA.
Awful experience. We all had our food in about 20 minutes. We had finished eating and they still had not brought my husband tacos. Once we got up and said hey where is our tacos are like. Oh I’m sorry. We thought I gave it to you. No you don’t. This restaurant sucks. Then they’re like can I have a receipt and they said no. We don’t give receipts out. Like, are you serious bad bad restaurant. They’re Carne has no taste.
I was in looking for a place that had authentic mexican food and al pastor meat, ordered a burrito (pastor) and it was pretty much beans and cheese, there was hardly any meat on it and the little meat it did have was mostly overpowered by onions overall was not a good experience. the prices are your average mexican restaurant prices but when you look for a place to eat you want to enjoy good flavors this is defenetly not that place.
